ABSTRACT
Tibetan bowl healing is a form of sound therapy and is used to decrease stress, alter consciousness and produce a deep sense of peace, which may lead to improved health. According to practitioners, we use our left-brain hemisphere in our everyday lives, which creates imbalance, since our right-brain hemisphere remains underactive. Followers of this ancient art claim that Tibetan Bowl Healing can be used to stimulate the right brain and encourage attuning between the left and right hemispheres so they become synchronized and work in harmony. Alpha and Theta brain waves, both of which induce calmer, deeper states of consciousness, are purported to increase in activity when certain sound frequencies are heard, hence, the 'singing bowls' as they are called, work on our normal Beta brain waves to soothe and bring balance.
