RESUMO

Heteroptera are among the most diverse hemimetabolous insects. Seven infraorders have been recognized within this suborder of Hemiptera. Apart from the well-established sister-group relationship between Cimicomorpha and Pentatomomorpha (= Terheteroptera), the two terminal lineages, the relationships among the other five infraorders are still controversial, of which three (Gerromorpha, Nepomorpha and Leptopodomorpha) are intimately connected to aquatic environments. However, the various and often conflicting available phylogeny hypotheses do not offer a clear background for a connection between diversification and palaeoenvironments. In this study, a molecular data set representing 79 taxa and 10 149 homologous sites is used to infer the phylogenetic relationships within Heteroptera. Bayesian inference, maximum-likelihood and maximum parsimony analyses were employed. The results of phylogenetic inferences largely confirm the widely accepted phylogenetic context. Estimation of the divergence time based on the phylogenetic results revealed that Gerromorpha, Nepomorpha and Leptopodomorpha originated successively during the period from the Late Permian to Early Triassic (269-246 Ma). This timescale is consistent with the origin and radiation time of various aquatic holometabolans. Our results indicate that the aquatic and semi-aquatic true bugs evolved under environmental conditions of high air temperature and humidity in an evolutionary scenario similar to that of the aquatic holometabolans.

RESUMO

Corynotopsisomanicussp. nov. of the myrmecophilous supertribe Clavigeritae is described from Oman. The type series was collected at night and the ant host species remains unknown. Corynotopsisscotti Jeannel, 1951 is newly recorded for Yemen, and Commatocerusconcinnus Besuchet & Cuccodoro, 2011 for Oman. Lasius Fabricius, 1804 and Lepisiota Santschi, 1926 are, for the first time, determined as hosts of the latter species. The problematic taxonomic status of Corynotopsisscotti is discussed. A distribution map of all Clavigeritae known from the Arabian Peninsula is provided.

RESUMO

Two new species of apterous Carventinae are described in this paper. One belongs to the endemic monotypic genus Singhalaptera Heiss 2001 from Sri Lanka (Singhalaptera secunda n.sp.), and the other to the monotypic genus Signocoris Hoberlandt 1958 from Madras (Signocoris nilgiricus n.sp.). All four known species of both genera are illustrated and compared.

RESUMO

The enigmatic Madagascan genus Semiclaviger Wasmann is among the most morphologically distinct members of the obligately myrmecophilous pselaphine supertribe Clavigeritae. Here, the genus is redescribed, and the lectotype of the type species S. sikorae Wasmann is designated. We present a detailed study of the morphology of Semiclaviger, which supports its uniqueness among the Clavigeritae. The systematic position of the genus, and the validity of its subtribe Radamina, are discussed leading us to place Radamina in synonymy with Clavigerodina.

RESUMO

A new genus of Pselaphinae, Reichentomica gen. nov., and three new species, Reichentomica tasani sp. nov., Afroplectus turneri sp. nov., and Parasimus saotomicus sp. nov., are described for the first time from the island São Tomé. All three species were collected at the same locality close to Jardim Botânico do Bom Successo (00°16'31''N, 06°36'14''E) using flight intercept trap in the tropical forest at the elevation of 1324 m.

RESUMO

The genus Systelloderes Blanchard, 1852 (Hemiptera: Heteroptera: Enicocephalomorpha: Enicocephalidae), has a nearly cosmopolitan distribution, with the greatest species richness being found in humid tropical and subtropical forests, but species are also present in humid microhabitats of temperate and arid zones (Wygodzinsky Schmidt 1991). In the Eastern Hemisphere species of Systelloderes occur in continental Africa (22 species, see Villiers 1969; 1976; Maldonado 1988; Banar 2008); Madagascar (Systelloders milloti Villiers, 1952); New Zealand (see Stys 1970, 2002) and New Caledonia (Systelloders loebli Stys Banar, 2007). Two species (S. capillicornis Bergroth, 1918 from Luzon and S. aetherius Bergroth, 1916 from Queensland) originally described as Systelloderes belong to the genus Henschiella Horváth, 1888 (P. Stys, unpublished data). As is frequently the case with Enicocephalomorpha, many species of Systelloderes remain to be described, especially from the Afrotropical, Neotropical and Oriental Regions. There are 13 described Systelloderes species from North and Central America (Wygodzinsky Schmidt 1991). To date, there are only six described species of Systelloderes from South America: two from Venezuela, and by a single species from Bolivia, Brazil, Chile and Peru each. There are very few additional records of Systelloderes in the New World tropics, including the works of Wolda (1975) and Ospina-Bautista (2018) on Colombia, Parker et al. (2012) on Peru, and Maestre et al. (2001) from Brazil.

RESUMO

Xenicocephalustomhenryi sp. n. (Insecta: Hemiptera: Heteroptera: Enicocephalomorpha: Enicocephalidae) is established for a single macropterous female from Ecuador. The enigmatic genus now includes three species known from only two Neotropical adults and an incomplete female specimen. The new species is described and illustrated, extensive comparative diagnoses for Xenicocephalus species are provided, and nomenclature, distribution, and biology of the genus are reviewed. The architecture of the raptorial forelegs of Xenicocephalus is unique among Enicocephalomorpha, and the genus is classified as subfamily incertae sedis.
