RESUMO

Rapidly involuting congenital haemangioma (RICH) is a rare vascular tumour whose antenatal diagnosis is difficult. During ultrasound examination at 32nd weeks' gestation, a voluminous heterogeneous cephalic lesion was discovered that could be a haemangioma or a teratoma. A caesarean delivery was performed. The tumour was removed directly after birth. The pathology examination concluded on a RICH. Antenatal, prepartum and postnatal management are not consensual and must consider the lesion size.

RESUMO

Small cell carcinoma of the ovary of the hypercalcemic type is a rare tumour, usually lethal and occurring almost exclusively in young patients. In the majority of described cases, signs of this lesion were revealed by the associated hypercalcemia or by virtue of the physical tumour bulk alone. We report the first case of ovarian small cell carcinoma of the hypercalcemic revealed by a severe acute pancreatitis in a 19-year-old patient.

RESUMO

In recent years, new uses of the body have taken place among youths. Body art has become democratic and reaches more and more heterogeneous groups of customers. Considered for a long time as a primitive attribute, tattooing has come out from the 'underground' for an open display. The many uncertainties of our modernity appear to incline young people to knock around their bodies. From circumcision to piercing and tattooing, all these body writings appear as religious, initiatory or community rituals, more in keeping with a primitive law rather than with an individual revolt.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVES: To evaluate French trainees in Obstetrics and Gynaecology's (OG) training and clinical practice of vaginal breech delivery (VBD). STUDY DESIGN: A national survey was conducted among the 993 French trainees undergoing a 5-years training program in OG. Respondents were invited to specify whether they had received theoretical teaching in the management of VBD, whether they had used training mannequins, and the number of VBD they had performed. Answers were analyzed according to the seniority: trainees in years 1 to 3 were considered as juniors, and those in years 4 and 5 as seniors. RESULTS: Response rate was 45.5%. Overall, 41.6% of trainees had never been taught the management of a VBD. Seniors were significantly more likely than juniors to have received such a theoretical training: 67.7% vs 51.4%, respectively (p=0.001). Mannequin was used by 45.6% of trainees without influence of seniority. Overall, 49.1% of trainees had performed less than five VBD. This rate was 28.7% among seniors vs 64.8% among juniors (p<0,001). CONCLUSION: The level of theoretical training and practice in the management of VBD is restricted and should be improved.

RESUMO

We describe an acute onset of diabetes mellitus during third trimester of pregnancy revealed by ketoacidosis, complicated by fetal death, which could evoke fulminant type 1 diabetes, a novel subtype of type 1 diabetes first described in Japan and rarely described in Caucasian people. Diagnosis of diabetic ketoacidosis could be made on simple signs as abdominal pain, vomiting or ketone bodies on urinary multistix. Capillary glycaemic control is necessary to distinguish fast from ketoacidosis. The treatment of this severe imbalance must be initiated in emergency.
