Multifocal Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis: A Unique Presentation of Eosinophilic Granuloma with Intracranial Extension, Massive Lymphadenopathy, and Epstein-Barr Viral Infection in an Adolescent Female.

We report the case of an otherwise healthy 17-year-old female who presented for surgical removal of an enlarging "atypical cyst" on her scalp. During subtotal excision, only friable serosanguinous translucent ribbons of tissue were found. A histopathologic diagnosis of Langerhans cell histiocytosis (LCH) was rendered and imaging studies revealed extradural invasion of the tumor. Within weeks, the patient also developed progressive lymphadenopathy with grossly elevated levels of Epstein-Barr virus viral capsid antigen antibody levels. This report aims to highlight a unique presentation of LCH with discussion of workup, management, and avoidance of potential surgical complications.

Full-thickness Pediatric Burn following Reaction between Cyanoacrylate Nail Adhesive and Cotton Shirt.

Cyanoacrylate is an acrylic resin that is used as an adhesive in acrylic nail glues and various other strong, rapidly acting adhesives, such as "Dermabond" and "Super Glue." This adhesive is very effective in a variety of settings; however, when cyanoacrylate comes into contact with cotton fibers, an exothermic reaction occurs that is severe enough to cause a full-thickness burn to the underlying skin. Full-thickness burns requiring excision and skin grafting can be psychologically devastating for patients, especially the pediatric population and their parents, who may believe they are to blame for their child's burn. We present the case of a 2-year-old boy who developed a full-thickness burn after spilling acrylic nail glue onto his cotton shirt. Fortunately, his burn was small enough that excision with primary closure was able to be performed. However, he unfortunately developed hypertrophic scarring postoperatively. Owing to the widespread use of cyanoacrylate adhesives in the general population, it is important to spread awareness of the potential dangers associated with these adhesives to prevent potential physical and psychological injuries related to improper use of these adhesives.

A rare concurrence of Muir-Torre-associated sebaceous carcinoma in the setting of a lipedematous scalp.

Muir-Torre syndrome (MTS) a genetic disorder characterized by predisposition to cutaneous neoplasms. Lipedematous scalp is characterized by the presentation of a thick, sponge-like scalp due to the altered and increased deposition of adipose tissue. We present a case of Muir-Torre-associated sebaceous carcinoma of the scalp consistent with a lipedematous scalp.
