BACKGROUND: The 2022 World Health Organization (WHO) classification redefines the concept of gray zone lymphoma (GZL), restricting it in practice to cases of mediastinal/thymic origin (mediastinal gray zone lymphoma, MGZL) with overlapping features between primary mediastinal B-cell lymphoma (PMBCL) and classical Hodgkin lymphoma (CHL). Cases with histological characteristics of GZL but occurring without mediastinal involvement are better classified as diffuse large B-cell lymphoma, not otherwise specified (DLBCL NOS), with few exceptions. PROCEDURE: We collected clinical and pathological data about all Italian pediatric patients diagnosed with GZL over a 20-year period. RESULTS: We identified only four cases of bona fide MGZL. All patients were adolescent and presented with a mediastinal disease, always associated with other nodal involvement. B symptoms and increased levels of both erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) and lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) were observed. Only two patients achieved a first complete remission, suggesting a more aggressive clinical behavior than either PMBCL or CHL. CONCLUSION: Prospective studies evaluating prognostic factors and establishing the most effective first-line therapy for MGZL are highly needed.

Classical pediatric Hodgkin Lymphoma (HL) is a rare malignancy. Therapeutic regimens for its management may be optimized by establishing treatment response early on. The aim of this study was to identify plasma protein biomarkers enabling the prediction of relapse in pediatric/adolescent HL patients treated under the pediatric EuroNet-PHL-C2 trial. We used untargeted liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS)-based proteomics at the time of diagnosis­before any therapy­as semiquantitative method to profile plasma proteins specifically associated with relapse in 42 children with nodular sclerosing HL. In both the exploratory and the validation cohorts, six proteins (apolipoprotein E, C4b-binding protein α chain, clusterin, fibrinogen γ chain, prothrombin, and vitronectin) were more abundant in the plasma of patients whose HL relapsed (|fold change| ≥ 1.2, p < 0.05, Student's t-test). Predicting protein function with the Gene Ontology classification model, the proteins were included in four biological processes (p < 0.01). Using immunoblotting and Luminex assays, we validated two of these candidate biomarkers­C4b-binding protein α chain and clusterin­linked to innate immune response function (GO:0045087). This study identified C4b-binding protein α chain and clusterin as candidate early plasma biomarkers of HL relapse, and important for the purpose of shedding light on the molecular scenario associated with immune response in patients treated under the EuroNet-PHL-C2 trial.

BACKGROUND: Primary breast lymphoma (PBL) is an extremely rare neoplasm in children; by definition, it manifests in the breast without evidence of lymphoma elsewhere, except ipsilateral axillary nodes. CASE PRESENTATION: We report a case of a 15-year-old girl diagnosed with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) of the right breast: the patient received chemotherapy and rituximab, achieving complete remission. A literature review revealed other 11 cases of pediatric PBL; it mainly affects female adolescents and can involve right and left breast equally. Different histologic subtypes have been described, arising from both B-cell and T-cell. Therapeutic approaches were very different, from chemotherapy to local treatment with surgery and/or radiotherapy. CONCLUSIONS: Our case is the first in which rituximab was administered, suggesting to be a promising therapy in B-cell PBL, as already demonstrated in pediatric B-cell lymphoma from other sites. Further investigations are needed to identify prognostic factors and establish the most effective treatment.

The identification of circulating proteins associated with relapse in pediatric Hodgkin lymphoma (HL) may help develop predictive biomarkers. We previously identified a set of predictive biomarkers by difference gel electrophoresis. Here we used label-free quantitative liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) on plasma collected at diagnosis from 12 children (age 12-16 years) with nodular sclerosis HL, including six in whom the disease relapsed within 5 years of treatment in the LH2004 trial. Plasma proteins were pooled in groups of three, separately for non-relapsing and relapsing HL, and differentially abundant proteins between the two disease states were identified by LC-MS/MS in an explorative and validation design. Proteins with a fold change in abundance >1.2 or ≤0.8 were considered "differentially abundant". LC-MS/MS identified 60 and 32 proteins that were more abundant in non-relapsing and relapsing HL plasma, respectively, in the explorative phase; these numbers were 39 and 34 in the validation phase. In both analyses, 11 proteins were more abundant in non-relapsing HL (e.g., angiotensinogen, serum paraoxonase/arylesterase 1, transthyretin), including two previously identified by difference gel electrophoresis (antithrombin III and α-1-antitrypsin); seven proteins were more abundant in relapsing HL (e.g., fibronectin and thrombospondin-1), including two previously identified proteins (fibrinogen ß and γ chains). The differentially abundant proteins participated in numerous biological processes, which were manually grouped into 10 biological classes and 11 biological regulatory subclasses. The biological class Lipid metabolism, and its regulatory subclass, included angiotensinogen and serum paraoxonase/arylesterase 1 (more abundant in non-relapsing HL). The biological classes Immune system and Cell and extracellular matrix architecture included fibronectin and thrombospondin-1 (more abundant in relapsing HL). These findings deepen our understanding of the molecular scenario underlying responses to therapy and provide new evidence about these proteins as possible biomarkers of relapse in pediatric HL.

PURPOSE: We present the results of an investigation of the role of FDG PET in response evaluation of bulky masses in paediatric patients with Hodgkin's lymphoma (HL) enrolled in the Italian AIEOP-LH2004 trial. METHODS: We analysed data derived from 703 patients (388 male, 315 female; mean age 13 years) with HL and enrolled in 41 different Italian centres from March 2004 to September 2012, all treated with the AIEOP-LH2004 protocol. The cohort comprised 309 patients with a bulky mass, of whom 263 were evaluated with FDG PET at baseline and after four cycles of chemotherapy. Responses were determined according to combined functional and morphological criteria. Patients were followed up for a mean period of 43 months and for each child we calculated time-to-progression (TTP) and relapse rates considering clinical monitoring, and instrumental and histological data as the reference standard. Statistical analyses were performed for FDG PET and morphological responses with respect to TTP. Multivariate analysis was used to define independent predictive factors. RESULTS: Overall, response evaluation revealed 238 PET-negative patients (90.5%) and 25 PET-positive patients (9.5%), with a significant difference in TTP between these groups (mean TTP: 32.67 months for negative scans, 23.8 months for positive scans; p < 0.0001, log-rank test). In the same cohort, computed tomography showed a complete response (CR) in 85 patients (32.3%), progressive disease (PD) in 6 patients (2.3%), and a partial response (PR) in 165 patients (62.7%), with a significant difference in TTP between patients with CR and patients with PD (31.1 months and 7.9 months, respectively; p < 0.001, log-rank test). Similarly, there was a significant difference in relapse rates between PET-positive and PET-negative patients (p = 0000). In patients with PR, there was also a significant difference in TTP between PET-positive and PET-negative patients (24.6 months and 34.9 months, respectively; p < 0.0001). In the multivariate analysis with correction for multiple testing, only the PET result was an independent predictive factor in both the entire cohort of patients and the subgroup showing PR on CT (p < 0.01). CONCLUSION: After four cycles of chemotherapy, FDG PET response assessment in paediatric HL patients with a bulky mass is a good predictor of TTP and disease outcome. Moreover, in patients with a PR on CT, PET was able to differentiate those with a longer TTP. In paediatric HL patients with a bulky mass and in patients with a PR on CT, response on FDG PET was an independent predictive factor.

RESUMO

Following the model of other international oncology units, a framework was developed to create a special unit for adolescents and young adults (Youth Area) within a cancer research hospital in Italy by defining relevant parameters to improve personalized healthcare delivery and the reduction of the impact of the disease on 14-24 year old patients. The intervention became fully operational in 2007 and allows patients and their families to make decisions on their own care. The concept of "Youth Area" denotes an open model for society to put the patient back into the center of clinical care. We directly want to involve our adolescent and young adult (AYA) patients in participating in conferences so they themselves can send out a positive message to their healthy peers. Furthermore, activities centered on the normal development of AYA patients are encouraged. To highlight this innovative concept, the Youth Area has sponsored various published books. We believe that this intervention may represent an effective new tool for cancer patient care in young Italians.

The primary objective of this study was to investigate the potential role of tissue osteopontin, also known as secreted phosphoprotein 1 (SPP1), as a contributing factor to an unfavorable prognosis in classical Hodgkin's lymphoma (HL) patients who received the same treatment protocol. The study involved 44 patients aged 4-22 years, with a median follow-up period of 3 years. Patients with higher levels of SPP1 were associated with tissue necrosis and inflammation, and there was a trend toward a poorer prognosis in this group. Before therapy, we found a correlation between positron emission tomography (PET) scans and logarithmic SPP1 levels (p = 0.035). However, the addition of SPP1 levels did not significantly enhance the predictive capacity of PET scans for recurrence or progression. Elevated SPP levels were associated with tissue mRNA counts of chemotactic and inflammatory chemokines, as well as specific monocyte/dendritic cell subtypes, defined by IL-17RB, PLAUR, CXCL8, CD1A, CCL13, TREM1, and CCL24 markers. These findings contribute to a better understanding of the potential factors influencing the prognosis of HL patients and the potential role of SPP1 in the disease. While the predictive accuracy of PET scans did not substantially improve during the study, the results underscore the complexity of HL and highlight the relationships between SPP1 and other factors in the context of HL relapse.

Currently-available therapies for newly-diagnosed pediatric and adolescent patients with Hodgkin lymphoma result in >95% survival at 5 years. Long-term survivors may suffer from long-term treatment-related side effects, however, so the past 20 years have seen clinical trials for children and adolescents with HL gradually abandon the regimens used in adults in an effort to improve this situation. Narrower-field radiotherapy can reduce long-term toxicity while maintaining good tumor control. Various risk-adapted chemo-radiotherapy strategies have been used. Early assessment of tumor response with interim positron emission tomography and/or measuring metabolic tumor volume has been used both to limit RT in patients with favorable characteristics and to adopt more aggressive therapies in patients with a poor response. Most classical Hodgkin's lymphoma relapses occur within 3 years of initial treatment, while relapses occurring 5 years or more after diagnosis are rare. As the outcome for patients with relapsed/refractory classical Hodgkin lymphoma remains unsatisfactory, new drugs have been proposed for its prevention or treatment. This review summarizes the important advances made in recent years in the management of pediatric and adolescent with classical Hodgkin lymphoma, and the novel targeted treatments for relapsed and refractory classical Hodgkin lymphoma.

Rationale: Therapy response evaluation by 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose PET/CT (FDG PET) has become a powerful tool for the discrimination of responders from non-responders in pediatric Hodgkin lymphoma (HL). Recently, volumetric analyses have been regarded as a valuable tool for disease prognostication and biological characterization in cancer. Given the multitude of methods available for volumetric analysis in HL, the AIEOP Hodgkin Lymphoma Study Group has designed a prospective analysis of the Italian cohort enrolled in the EuroNet-PHL-C2 trial. Methods: Primarily, the study aimed to compare the different segmentation techniques used for volumetric assessment in HL patients at baseline (PET1) and during therapy: early (PET2) and late assessment (PET3). Overall, 50 patients and 150 scans were investigated for the current analysis. A dedicated software was used to semi-automatically delineate contours of the lesions by using different threshold methods. More specifically, four methods were applied: (1) fixed 41% threshold of the maximum standardized uptake value (SUVmax) within the respective lymphoma site (V41%), (2) fixed absolute SUV threshold of 2.5 (V2.5); (3) SUVmax(lesion)/SUVmean liver >1.5 (Vliver); (4) adaptive method (AM). All parameters obtained from the different methods were analyzed with respect to response. Results: Among the different methods investigated, the strongest correlation was observed between AM and Vliver (rho > 0.9; p < 0.001 for SUVmean, MTV and TLG at all scan timing), along with V2.5 and AM or Vliver (rho 0.98, p < 0.001 for TLG at baseline; rho > 0.9; p < 0.001 for SUVmean, MTV and TLG at PET2 and PET3, respectively). To determine the best segmentation method, we applied logistic regression and correlated different results with Deauville scores at late evaluation. Logistic regression demonstrated that MTV (metabolic tumor volume) and TLG (total lesion glycolysis) computation according to V2.5 and Vliver significantly correlated to response to treatment (p = 0.01 and 0.04 for MTV and 0.03 and 0.04 for TLG, respectively). SUVmean also resulted in significant correlation as absolute value or variation. Conclusions: The best correlation for volumetric analysis was documented for AM and Vliver, followed by V2.5. The volumetric analyses obtained from V2.5 and Vliver significantly correlated to response to therapy, proving to be preferred thresholds in our pediatric HL cohort.

INTRODUCTION: Assessment of response to therapy in paediatric patients with Hodgkin lymphoma (HL) by 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/CT has become a powerful tool for the discrimination of responders from non-responders. The addition of volumetric and texture analyses can be regarded as a valuable help for disease prognostication and biological characterisation. Based on these premises, the Hodgkin Lymphoma Study Group of the Associazione Italiana Ematologia Oncologia Pediatrica (AIEOP) has designed a prospective evaluation of volumetric and texture analysis in the Italian cohort of patients enrolled in the EuroNet-PHL-C2. METHODS AND ANALYSIS: The primary objective is to compare volumetric assessment in patiens with HL at baseline and during the course of therapy with standard visual and semiquantitative analyses. The secondary objective is to identify the impact of volumetric and texture analysis on bulky masses. The tertiary objective is to determine the additional value of multiparametric assessment in patients having a partial response on morphological imaging.The overall cohort of the study is expected to be round 400-500 patients, with approximately half presenting with bulky masses. All PET scans of the Italian cohort will be analysed for volumetric assessment, comprising metabolic tumour volume and total lesion glycolysis at baseline and during the course of therapy. A dedicated software will delineate semiautomatically contours using different threshold methods, and the impact of each segmentation techniques will be evaluated. Bulky will be defined on contiguous lymph node masses ≥200 mL on CT/MRI. All bulky masses will be outlined and analysed by the same software to provide textural features. Morphological assessment will be based on RECIL 2017 for response definition. ETHICS AND DISSEMINATION: The current study has been ethically approved (AIFA/SC/P/27087 approved 09/03/2018; EudraCT 2012-004053-88, EM-04). The results of the different analyses performed during and after study completion the will be actively disseminated through peer-reviewed journals, conference presentations, social media, print media and internet.

Exosomes and other small extracellular vesicles (EVs) are potential sources of cancer biomarkers. Plasma-derived EVs have not yet been studied in pediatric Hodgkin lymphoma (HL), for which predictive biomarkers of relapse are greatly needed. In this two-part proteomic study, we used two-dimensional difference gel electrophoresis (2D-DIGE) followed by liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) to analyze EV proteins of plasma collected at diagnosis from children with nodular sclerosis HL, relapsed or not. EVs isolated using membrane affinity had radii ranging from 20 to 130 nm and contained the programmed cell death 6-interacting (ALIX) and the tumor susceptibility gene 101 (TSG101) proteins, whereas calnexin (CANX) was not detected. 2D-DIGE identified 16 spots as differentially abundant between non-relapsed and relapsed HL (|fold change| ≥ 1.5, p < 0.05). LC-MS/MS identified these spots as 11 unique proteins, including five more abundant in non-relapsed HL (e.g., complement C4b, C4B; fibrinogen γ chain, FGG) and six more abundant in relapsed HL (e.g., transthyretin, TTR). Shotgun LC-MS/MS on pooled EV proteins from non-relapsed HL identified 161 proteins, including 127 already identified in human exosomes (ExoCarta data). This EV cargo included 89 proteins not yet identified in exosomes from healthy plasma. Functional interrogation by the Database for Annotation, Visualization and Integrated Discovery (DAVID) revealed that the EV proteins participate in platelet degranulation and serine-type endopeptidase activity as the most significant Gene Ontology (GO) biological process and molecular function (p < 0.01).

Plasma exosomal microRNAs (miRNAs) are considered as valid circulating biomarkers for cancer diagnosis and prognosis. Quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR), the most commonly used technique to assess circulating miRNA levels, requires a normalization step involving uniformly expressed endogenous miRNAs. However, there is still no consensus on reference miRNAs for plasma exosomal miRNA abundance normalization. In this study, we identified a panel of miRNAs with stable abundance by analyzing public plasma exosome RNA-seq data and selected miR-486-5p, miR-26a-5p, miR-423-5p and miR191-5p as candidate normalizers. Next, we tested the abundance variation of these miRNAs by qRT-PCR in plasma exosomes of healthy donors and pediatric patients with anaplastic large cell lymphoma, Burkitt lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and mature B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia. MiR-486-5p and miR-26a-5p showed the most stable levels, both between healthy controls and patients and among the malignancies analyzed. In light of previous reports on miRNA stability in different exosome isolation methods, our data indicated that miR-26a-5p is a bona fide reference miRNA for qRT-PCR normalization to evaluate miRNA abundance from circulating plasma exosomes in studies of hematological malignancies.

Irinotecan (CPT-11) is an anticancer drug with a complex in vivo metabolism widely used in the treatment of colon cancer. The assessment of the CPT-11 metabolic phenotype is an important clinical component for personalizing the administered dose. In this study, we report the development of a rapid and sensitive liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectroscopy method for the simultaneous quantitation of CPT-11 and its major metabolites generated by hydrolysis (SN-38, active metabolite) or through oxidative (NPC and APC) and glucuronidation (SN-38G) pathways. The method used a small volume of plasma and is based on simple protein plasma precipitation with two volumes of acetonitrile containing camptothecine as an internal standard. Analytes extracted in the supernatant fraction were converted to the lactone form and further separated by an acetonitrile gradient on a Kinetex C18 (50 × 2 mm) column in the presence of 0.01% formic acid. The quantitative measurement was performed by an API 4000/Qtrap operating in the triple-quadruple mode. The Multiple Reaction Monitoring transitions were: m/z 587→167 for CPT-11, m/z 393→349 for SN-38, m/z 619→393 for APC, m/z 519→393 for NPC, and m/z 569→393 for SN-38G. The mean overall recovery in plasma was in the range of 78% to 86% with a low matrix suppression effect (9.0% or less). The lower limit of quantitation was 0.2 ng/mL for NPC and SN-38 and 0.5 ng/mL for SN-38G, APC, and CPT-11. Linearity was checked up to 2000 ng/mL, whereas the intra- and interday accuracy and precision for both the parent drug and its metabolites was -3.7% to 13.8% and 3.7% to 13.1%, respectively. The method proved to be robust and suitable for therapeutic drug monitoring as well as for pharmacogenetic-pharmacokinetic correlation studies.

Many studies have reported a more favorable outcome in younger patients with Hodgkin lymphoma (HL). The aims of this study were to find an appropriate age cutoff able to identify low-risk children and to describe the natural history of 135 very young patients affected by classic HL (cHL). The best age cutoff was identified at 7 years of age. EFS (p = .0451) and PFS (p = .00921) were significantly better in the group of younger patients. The OS rate at 10 years was 97.0% in the younger group and 92.5% in the older one (p = .0448). However, age was not found to be an independent prognostic factor in multivariate analysis and the better prognosis in younger patients seems to be related to more favorable disease characteristics at presentation.

The treatment of paediatric Hodgkin lymphoma (HL) has steadily improved over the years, so that 10- years survival exceed 80%. The purpose of this study was to identify prognostic markers for relapsed HL that might contribute to optimize therapeutic approaches. To this aim we retrospectively analysed differential protein expression profiles obtained from plasma of children/adolescents with HL (age ranging from 10 to 18 years) collected at diagnosis. We examined the protein profiles of 15 HL relapsed (R) patients compared with 14 HL not relapsed (NR) patients treated with the same LH-2004 protocol. Two dimensional difference in gel electrophoresis (2D-DIGE) revealed significant differences (fold change > 1.5; Student's T-test p<0.01) between R and NR patients in 10 proteins: α-1-antitrypsin chain a, apolipoprotein A-IV precursor; inter-α-trypsin inhibitor heavy chain; antithrombin-III; vitronectin; fibrinogen α, ß and γ chains, complement C3, and ceruloplasmin. An up-regulation of fibrinogen α (spots 78, 196, 230, 234, 239) and ß (spots 98, 291, 296, 300) chains together with a lower level of α-1-antitrypsin (spots 255, 264, 266, 272, 273) were found in R patients, and this difference was validated by immunoblotting. The functional role(s) of these proteins in the coagulation and inflammation associated with paediatric/adolescent HL progression and relapse deserves further investigations.

In this study, we tested whether polymorphisms in human leukocyte antigen G (HLA-G) were associated with event-free survival (EFS) in pediatric Hodgkin's lymphoma (HL). We evaluated the association of HLA-G 3'-UTR polymorphisms with EFS in 113 pediatric HL patients treated using the AIEOP LH-2004 protocol. Patients with the +3027-C/A genotype (rs17179101, UTR-7 haplotype) showed lower EFS than those with the +3027-C/C genotype (HR= 3.23, 95%CI: 0.99-10.54, P=0.012). Female patients and systemic B symptomatic patients with the HLA-G +3027 polymorphism showed lower EFS. Multivariate analysis showed that the +3027-A polymorphism (HR 3.17, 95%CI 1.16-8.66, P=0.025) was an independent prognostic factor. Immunohistochemical analysis showed that HL cells from patients with the +3027-C/A genotype did not express HLA-G. Moreover, HLA-G +3027 polymorphism improved EFS prediction when added to the algorithm for therapeutic group classification of pediatric HL patients. Our findings suggest HLA-G +3027 polymorphism is a prognostic marker in pediatric HL patients undergoing treatment according to LH-2004 protocol.

Levels of plasma cell-free DNA (cfDNA) of a large series of children with classical Hodgkin lymphoma (cHL) were evaluated and analyzed at diagnosis and during chemotherapy treatment in relation with clinical characteristics. CfDNA levels in cHL patients were significantly higher compared with controls (p=0.002). CfDNA at diagnosis was correlated with presence of B symptoms (p=0.027) and high erythrocyte sedimentation rate (p=0.049). We found that the increasing of plasma cfDNA after first chemotherapy cycle seems to be associated with a worse prognosis (p=0.049). Levels of plasma cfDNA might constitute an interesting non-invasive tool in cHL patients' management.

BACKGROUND: The most valuable treatment option for breast, prostate and lung carcinomas is at present represented by a low dose of docetaxel, administered on a weekly basis. A better understanding of docetaxel pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic profiles could lead to an improvement in this dose regimen efficacy. METHODS: In this study a high-throughput method is described for the rapid quantification of docetaxel for large clinical pharmacology investigations. This analytical approach is based on an automatic on-line purification and enrichment technique followed by a measurement in tandem mass spectrometry through Multiple Reaction Monitoring. RESULTS: The assay was validated over a 0.15-1500 ng/mL range. Intra-day precision ranged from 1.9% to 6.4%, while the inter-day was between 7.6% and 11.2%. The mean deviation from the nominal value ranged from -0.5% to 5.6% for the intra-day, and from -0.4% to 3.1% for the inter-day assay. Clinical applicability was demonstrated by measuring plasma pharmacokinetics in patients receiving weekly 25-35 mg/m(2) of docetaxel. CONCLUSION: The proposed LC-MS/MS assay was found to have a better performance than previously reported methods in terms of sensitivity and sample preparation. It does not require any laborious pre-analytical manipulation and can be easily employed in large clinical pharmacology studies.

BACKGROUND: The circulating pool of estrone-sulfate is considered as a "reservoir" of slowly-metabolized estrogen that can be exploited for assessing overall individual estrogenicity. The aim of this study was to develop a rapid and sensitive liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry assay for the determination of estrone-sulfate, suitable for routine clinical investigations. METHODS: The proposed assay is based on a simple protein precipitation procedure and on a fast measurement with a triple-quadrupole mass spectrometer operating in negative ion mode and in multiple reaction monitoring. The method was assessed for intra- and inter-day precision, accuracy, recovery, and clinical suitability. A comparison with available radioimmunoassay was also performed. RESULTS: The LC-MS/MS method is able to detect estrone-sulfate concentrations < or =1pg/mL and has a low limit of quantification of 7.8pg/mL. Intra- and inter-day precision and accuracy were less than 10.5% and 5.0% respectively. The recovery was in the range of 93%-110%. When compared with radioimmunoassay the method resulted more accurate and therefore more suitable for quantifying the estrone-sulfate in different clinical settings, including patients treated with aromatase inhibitors. CONCLUSIONS: The proposed LC-MS/MS method represents a convincing alternative to the immunoassay for a fast, cost-effective and reliable measurement of estrone-sulfate in routine clinical investigations and in large epidemiological studies. It may contribute in shedding a new light on the diagnostic value of estrone-sulfate in normal and pathological conditions.
