RESUMO

The increase in gender-based violence in light of the COVID-19 pandemic is a public health problem that needs to be addressed. Our study aimed to describe the satisfaction with a training program in gender violence victim's attention through simulated nursing video consultations, analyze the beliefs on gender violence in Mexican undergraduate nursing students, and understand the skills that need to be improved. A descriptive cross-sectional study using a mixed-method was carried out with 27 students using a validated satisfaction questionnaire (quantitative data) and conducting scripted interviews (qualitative data) analyzed through the interpretive paradigm. All nursing students expressed a high overall satisfaction with simulated nursing video consultations and positive perceptions about this training program. From the students' perceptions, three first-level categories and their related second-level and specific categories emerged: belief and myths, skills to improve, and learning improvements. A training program in gender violence victim's attention through simulated nursing video consultations, in the middle of a pandemic, was a satisfactory experience for nursing students and beneficial for them, as they gained new knowledge and socioemotional skills. This training program mainly improved the acquisition of communication and emotional management skills for an adequate gender violence victim's attention.

Resumen:


Introducción: al inicio de la formación profesional, se presentan riesgos para la vida que favorecen o afectan la capacidad de resiliencia para hacer frente a las adversidades durante el desarrollo de la vida.


Objetivo: determinar la relación entre resiliencia y factores de riesgo para la vida en estudiantes universitarios al inicio de la formación profesional.


Metodología: estudio descriptivo correlacional en una muestra no probabilística por conveniencia de 308 estudiantes de nuevo ingreso del Centro de Ciencias de la Salud de la Universidad Autónoma de Aguascalientes. Se aplicaron instrumentos de Resiliencia, AUDIT, Fagerstróm e ITS con alfa de 0.88, 0.95, 0.90 y 0.86.


Resultados: se identificó un nivel de resiliencia favorable, alto riesgo de contraer enfermedades de transmisión sexual (ITS), consumo responsable de alcohol y baja dependencia de tabaco en estudiantes de nuevo ingreso del Centro de Ciencias de la Salud. De acuerdo a la Chi cuadrada de Pearson no existe relación entre las variables resiliencia y alcohol, tabaco e ITS con valor p de 0.391, 0.951 y 0.787, significancia de 0.05.


Conclusiones: según resultados de la presente investigación, el ser o no una persona resiliente, no tiene relación con la dependencia a sustancias nocivas o peligros para la vida que llegan afectar la formación profesional.


Introduction: At the start of training occur several life risks that favor or affect resilience which is the ability to cope with adversity during the development of life.


Abstract:


Objective: To determine the relation among resilience and life risks factors at the start of professional training.


Methods: Descriptive, correlational, study in a non-probabilistic convenience sample of 308 freshmen from Universidad Autónoma de Aguascalientes Health Sciences Center. Resilience instruments, AUDIT, Fagerstrom and STIs with alpha 0.88, 0.95, 0.90 and 0.86 were applied.


Results: Health Sciences Center freshmen students show a favorable level of resilience, high risk of STIs, responsible alcohol consumption and low tobacco dependence. According to Chi Square test of Pearson there is no relation between resilience variables and alcohol, tobacco and STIs with p value of 0.391, 0.951 and 0.787 with significance of 0.05.


Conclusions: According to the results of this research, being or not being a resilient person is unrelated to dependence on harmful substances or hazards to life that affect professional training.
