RESUMO

Cytokines may related to intrauterine Hepatitis B virus (HBV) transmission. 205 HBsAg(+) pregnant cases and 74 HBsAg(-) women were included. Neonatal blood samples were taken within 24 h of delivery and before HBV vaccinations. Serological HBV biomarkers and cytokines were detected. 21.9 % of the newborns from HBsAg(+) women were intrauterinally transmitted, including 7.3 % with dominant transmission (DBT) and 14.6 % occult transmission (OBT). HBV DNA load (odd ratio [OR], 1.44; 95 % confidence interval [CI], 1.05-1.98), interferon-γ (IFN-γ) (OR, 1.01; 95 %CI, 1.00-1.02) and toll-like receptor 9 (TLR9) (OR, 1.27; 95 %CI, 1.06-1.52) positively correlated with DBT. Only IFN-γ (OR, 1.01; 95 %CI, 1.00-1.01) positively associated with OBT. According to the generated restricted cubic spline, TLR9 was positively correlates with rise of DBT in a log-shape. It may be possible to develop a nomogram which intercalates these factors to predict intrauterine HBV transmissions. Further research should consider immune processes involved in chorioamnionitis.

RESUMO

Achieving high spin polarization transport and a pure spin current is particularly desired in spintronics. We use a sawtooth graphene nanoribbon (STGNR) and its derived five-member ring structure (5-STGNR) to design new spin caloritronic devices, since they have been successfully prepared experimentally and have an interface with no lattice distortion. By using first-principle calculations combined with the non-equilibrium Green's function approach, we have studied the spin caloritronic transport properties of several STGNR-based devices, including the structures with symmetrical and asymmetrical edges, and found some excellent spin caloritronic properties, such as spin polarization, magnetoresistance and the spin Seebeck effect. By introducing a temperature difference, giant magnetoresistance and spin Seebeck effects are achieved in a heterojunction with a symmetrical edge, whereas spin polarization is more effective in a heterojunction with an asymmetrical edge. Meanwhile, the metal-semiconductor-metal junction, which is composed of STGNRs with a symmetrical edge, exhibits approximately 100% spin polarization and produces a perfect thermally induced pure spin current at room temperature. Our results indicate that the devices consisting of a sawtooth graphene nanoribbon and its derived five-member ring structure are promising novel spin caloritronic devices.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Gastric cancer (GC) ranks the second in mortality rate among all cancers. Metastases account for most of the deaths in GC patients. Yet our understanding of GC and its metastasis mechanism is still very limited. METHODS: We performed 20 whole-exome sequencing (WES) on 5 typical metastatic gastric adenocarcinoma (GAC) patients with lymph node metastasis. We compared both the primary tumors to their metastatic lymph nodes, and a specific analysis pipeline was used to detect single nucleotide variants (SNVs), small insertions/deletions (indels) and copy number variants (CNVs). RESULTS: (1) We confirmed 30 candidate mutations in both primary and lymph nodes tissues, and other 7 only in primary tumors. (2) Copy number gains were observed in a large section of 17q12-21, as well as copy number losses in regions containing CDKN2A and CDKN2B in both primary and lymph nodes tissues. CONCLUSIONS: Our results provide preliminary insights in the molecular mechanisms of GC initiation, development, and metastatic progression. These results need to be validated through large-scale studies.

RESUMO

Introduction: The contamination of dental unit waterlines (DUWLs) poses a significant risk of cross-infection in dentistry. Although chemical disinfectants have been effective in reducing number of bacteria, they do have limitations. Methods: This study aimed to investigate the potential of chlorogenic acid, a natural substance with broadspectrum antibacterial properties, for treating DUWLs. Over a period of three months, we analyzed the microbial communities in 149 DUWLs samples collected from 5 dental units using high-throughput pyrophosphate sequencing. Results: The results revealed that chlorogenic acid treatment had a significant impact on the microbial community profile in the DUWLs, with the most significant changes occurring within the first 15 days and stabilization observed in the last 30 days. The predominant genera detected in the samples were Bacteroides, Lactobacillus, Streptococcus, Methylobacterium, and Phreatobacter. Additionally, the relative abundance of certain beneficial bacteria, such as Alloprevotella, Roseburia, and Blautia, increased, while the presence of opportunistic pathogens like Mycobacteria significantly decreased. The functional prediction analysis using the KEGG database indicated a decrease in the pathogenicity of the bacterial community in the DUWLs following chlorogenic acid treatment. Discussion: This study introduces a novel approach for the prevention and treatment of infections associated with dental care.

RESUMO

Background: De qi , the needling sensation, is important in acupuncture treatment. Almost all studies believe that deep needling and manipulation could achieve a significant de qi sensation. However, relatively few studies have examined the effect of psychological factors on de qi, and those that did often reached different conclusions. Objectives: To explore the influence of psychologic factors on de qi in patients with primary dysmenorrhea (PD). Methods: Sixty-eight PD patients with cold and dampness stagnation were randomly allocated to de qi (deep insertion using thick needles, with manipulation, n=17) and non-de qi groups (shallow insertion using thin needles, without manipulation, n=51). Both groups received bilateral needling at Sanyinjiao (SP6) for 30 min. De qi was assessed using the Acupuncture De qi Clinical Assessment Scale (ADCAS). The patients' acupuncture-related anxiety and their expectations of the relationship between needle sensation and curative effect were evaluated using a five-point and four-point scale, respectively. Results: Within the de qi group, all patients experienced the de qi sensation, although anxiety levels were unrelated to de qi. Patients' expectations correlated negatively with de qi timing, and positively with electric sensation. Within the non-de qi group, 59.5% of patients experienced de qi. Between those who experienced it and those who did not, no significant differences were found in anxiety levels, although patients' expectations differed significantly. Among patients who experienced de qi sensations in the non-de qi group, anxiety and throbbing were positively correlated. Additionally, patients' expectations correlated positively with de qi intensity, as well as coldness, and numbness. Conclusion: Psychological factors should be considered when studying de qi since PD patients' expectations could influence the de qi sensation at SP6.

RESUMO

With fast development and wide applications of next-generation sequencing (NGS) technologies, genomic sequence information is within reach to aid the achievement of goals to decode life mysteries, make better crops, detect pathogens, and improve life qualities. NGS systems are typically represented by SOLiD/Ion Torrent PGM from Life Sciences, Genome Analyzer/HiSeq 2000/MiSeq from Illumina, and GS FLX Titanium/GS Junior from Roche. Beijing Genomics Institute (BGI), which possesses the world's biggest sequencing capacity, has multiple NGS systems including 137 HiSeq 2000, 27 SOLiD, one Ion Torrent PGM, one MiSeq, and one 454 sequencer. We have accumulated extensive experience in sample handling, sequencing, and bioinformatics analysis. In this paper, technologies of these systems are reviewed, and first-hand data from extensive experience is summarized and analyzed to discuss the advantages and specifics associated with each sequencing system. At last, applications of NGS are summarized.

RESUMO

Recently, a genome-wide association study of gastric cancer (GC) reported the significant association of seven genetic variants (rs4072037 and rs4460629 on 1q22; rs753724, rs11187842, rs3765524, rs2274223, and rs3781264 on 10q23) with GC in a Chinese population. These findings were confirmed in a subsequent independent study. However, it remains unknown whether these loci are associated with an increased risk of colorectal cancer (CRC). This study was to test whether the seven single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) associated with GC were also associated with CRC in a Chinese population. The seven SNPs were genotyped using MassARRAY system. Allelic, genotypic, and haplotypic associations of the SNPs with CRC were investigated using χ(2) tests and logistic regression analysis. The SNPs rs3765524 and rs2274223, located on 10q23, were found to have significant protective effects against CRC, with equal odds ratios per allele. The two SNPs located on 1q22 (rs4072037 and rs4460629) showed a weak association with CRC. No significant association was identified with CRC for the remaining three SNPs located on 10q23 (rs753724, rs11187842, and rs3781264). These results suggest that rs3765524 and rs2274223 on 10q23 are associated with a protective effect against CRC in a Chinese population.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To prepare orally disintegrating tablets containing pyridostigmine bromide and optimize formulations. METHODS: Solid dispersion was prepared using solvent evaporation-deposition method. The formulation was optimized by central composite design-response surface methodology (RSM plus CCD) with disintegration time as a reference parameter. RESULTS: The orally disintegrating tablets showed integrity and were smooth with desirable taste and feel in mouth. The disintegration time was less than 30 s. The cumulative drug dissolution was around 8.5% (around 2.5 mg which was less than bitterness threshold of pyridostigmine bromide of 3 mg) within 5 min in water while the cumulative drug dissolution was higher than 95% within 2 min in 0.1 N HCl. CONCLUSION: The orally disintegrating tablets are reasonable in formulation, feasible in technology and patient-friendly.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To determine the pharmacokinetics characteristics of mestinon-phospholipid complex (PBPLC) in rats. METHODS: This study adopted a single-dose, randomized, open-label, two-period crossover trial design. Twelve healthy rats were randomly divided into two groups. One group was orally administered with mestinon-phospholipid complex, and the other group was orally administered with reference mestinon solution (1.5 mg/kg of mestinon). The plasma concentrations of the drugs in ophthalmic vein bloods were determined using HPLC. The pharmacokinetic parameters were calculated with the aid of DAS2.1.1 software. RESULTS: Pharmacokinetic parameters of mestinon-phospholipid complex were Tmax 2 h, Cmax 22.79 microg x min/mL and AUC(0-infinity) 7128.21 microg x min/mL, which were different from those of free mestinon--Tmax, 2 h, Cmax 6.00 microg/mL and AUC(0-infinity) 1772.36 microg x min/mL. The relative bioavailability of mestinon-phospholipid complex was 410.98% of free mestinon. CONCLUSION: The oral bioavailability of mestinon increases remarkably when administered as mestinon-phospholipid complex.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: Genome-wide association studies (GWAS) have identified 11 loci that influence the risk of developing colorectal cancer (CRC). Given that these studies were conducted in European Caucasian populations, it is not clear whether the results are relevant for populations with different ethnicities. The aim of this study was to examine these associations in a southern Chinese population. METHODS: Eleven single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs), rs12701937, rs16892766, rs7014346, rs6983267, rs719725, rs10795668, rs3802842, rs4444235, rs9929218, rs10411210, and rs961253, were genotyped in 229 CRC patients and 267 controls using the MassArray SNP genotyping system. RESULTS: Evidence of an association with CRC was found for four of the 11 loci. The strongest associations were with rs4444235 and rs961253, with significant odds ratios close to those reported in previous GWAS. Among these four loci, rs719725 and rs4444235 were significantly associated with female gender, rs3802842, rs961253, and rs4444235 with early disease onset, and rs3802842 with later disease onset. However, no associations with CRC risk were detected for six other loci (rs9929218, rs10411210, rs12701937, rs7014346, rs6983267, and rs10795668), and one SNP, rs16892766, was not polymorphic in any of the study participants. CONCLUSION: The rs4444235 and rs961253 loci are strongly associated with the risk of CRC in southern Chinese.

RESUMO

In order to develop low-power-consumption electronic devices, we studied a heterojunction composed of a 5,4-sawtooth graphene nanoribbon and 6,6,12-graphyne nanoribbon by using first-principles calculations combined with the non-equilibrium Green's function approach. Some spin caloritronic and spintronic devices can be realized based on the heterojunction, exhibiting excellent and multifunctional properties: a net spin current and perfect spin Seebeck effect are generated, a thermal induced and bias induced colossal magnetoresistance is obtained, and a spin filter with 100% spin polarization and a spin rectification with a high rectification ratio are acquired. Our results indicate that the proposed heterojunction is a promising candidate for multi-effect and low-power-consumption electronic devices.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To study the epidemiological correlation and drug resistance of external factors of infection caused by open injury of limbs to pathogens. METHODS: This experiment is a retrospective study. We took the geographical location and climate of Nanchang, Jiangxi Province, China as the background, analyzed 2017 strains of pathogens from 1589 patients with limb trauma infection in a University Affiliated Hospital from 2012 to 2017. Patients were divided into three groups according to the type of incision: I, In-hospital infection of clean limb incision, II, In-hospital infection with open injury, III, Community infection with open injury of the limb. Groups II and Groups III were divided into six subgroups according to the causes of trauma, including: accidents from non-motor vehicles, machinery, cutting/piercing, pedestrian injuries, struck by/against, pedal cycles, and other injuries. We found eight common pathogens of orthopedic infection, which were mainly divided into Gram-positive bacteria (G+, mainly including Staphylococcus) and Gram-negative bacteria (G-, mainly Enterobacteriaceae). The relationship between main pathogens and damage mechanism, apparent temperature and relative humidity was discussed in this study. SPSS v22.0 was used for statistical analysis of the data. Friedman's two-way ANOVA was used to analyze the difference between the injury mechanism and incidence of pathogenic bacteria. Linear regression was used to determine the trend between the incidence of major pathogens and seasonal temperature and humidity. The level of significance was set as P < 0.05. RESULTS: There was no significant difference in the distribution of pathogens between Groups II and Groups III (P>0.05). The drug resistance of Groups III was significantly higher than that of Groups II and Groups I. G+ bacteria were resistant to cephalosporin, ceftriaxone and other cephalosporins and erythromycin and other macrolides. They were sensitive to vancomycin and linezolid. G- were resistant to the first- and the second-generation cephalosporins, including cefotetan and cefazolin, and ampicillin and other penicillins, while they were sensitive to third-generation cephalosporins, such as ceftazidime, as well as to levofloxacin and other quinolones, meropenem, and other beta-lactamases. The correlation between the injury mechanism and infection of pathogenic bacteria was not significant. The monthly average apparent temperature and relative humidity were correlated with the infection rate of pathogenic bacteria. CONCLUSION: In open injury of extremities, apparent temperature and relative humidity is an important risk factor for infection by pathogenic bacteria and the drug resistance of pathogenic bacteria in out-of-hospital infection was lower than that of hospital infection.

RESUMO

SMAD7 has been demonstrated to antagonize TGF-ß-mediated fibrosis, carcinogenesis, and inflammation. Two previous genome-wide association studies identified three single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) (rs4939827, rs12953717 and rs4464148) in SMAD7 to be associated with colorectal cancer in a Western population. We conducted the first case-control study in a Han Chinese population to explore the associations between these three SNPs and colorectal, gastric, and lung cancers. Of the three SNPs, only rs12953717 was strongly associated with the three types of cancer, fitting the overdominant model. Compared with the CC/TT (CC combined with TT) genotype, the adjusted odds ratios for the CT genotype were 2.002 (95% CI, 1.250-3.207, P = 0.004), 1.678 (95% CI, 1.048-2.689, P = 0.031), 3.825 (95% CI, 2.310-6.335, P < 1 × 10(-4)), and 2.294 (95% CI, 1.537-3.343, P < 1 × 10(-4)), respectively, for colorectal, gastric, lung, and combined cancers. These outcomes suggest that rs12953717 is a common risk marker of these three types of cancer in the Han Chinese.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: The Wnt signaling pathway is crucial for pulmonary development and differentiation; dysregulation of the Wnt signaling pathway may impair lung function. Indeed, single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) of Wnt pathway-related genes have been suggested as risk factors for certain types of cancers. In this study, we aimed to evaluate the influence of SNPs in Wnt-related genes (TCF2, MMP9) on susceptibility to lung cancer. METHODS: Polymorphisms of TCF2 rs4430796, MMP9 rs2250889, and MMP9 rs17576 were studied in Han Chinese subjects, including 135 patients with lung cancer and 176 controls, using the Sequenom MassARRAY platform. The association of genotypes with susceptibility to lung cancer was analyzed using odds ratio (OR), with 95% confidence interval (95% CI) and χ(2). RESULTS: The three SNPs (rs4430796, rs2250889, and rs17576) were found to be significantly associated with an increased risk of lung cancer. The AA genotype and AG+AA genotype of rs4430796 showed a significantly increased susceptibility to lung cancer compared with the GG genotype (adjusted OR=6.03, 95% CI: 1.30-28.09, P=0.022; 5.55, 95% CI: 1.20-25.58, P=0.028). Compared with the rs17576 GG genotype, the AG and AG+AA genotypes were also associated with a significant risk (adjusted OR=2.65, 95% CI: 1.60-4.37, P≤0.001; 2.57, 95% CI: 1.59-4.19, P≤0.001) whereas the rs2250889 CG and CG+GG genotypes had 2.97-fold (95% CI: 1.81-4.85; P≤0.001) and 2.80-fold increased associations with lung cancer (95% CI: 1.73-4.54; P≤0.001), respectively, compared with the rs2250889 CC genotype. Furthermore, the association of rs4430796 with lung cancer became insignificant (P>0.05) after adjusting for gender and rs2250889. CONCLUSION: The three SNPs may play a role in the predisposition of members of the Han Chinese population to lung cancer.

RESUMO

Although deqi, the phenomenon whereby excitation of Qi in the meridians occurs with needling, is critical to the practice of acupuncture and its efficacy, it is poorly understood. So we investigate the influence of the deqi sensation on the analgesic effects of acupuncture in patients who were enrolled in a randomised controlled trial for the treatment of patients with primary dysmenorrhea, a painful and common condition, and cold and dampness stagnation. Two groups were assessed: a deqi group (undergoing deep needling with thick needles and manipulation, n=17) and a non-deqi group (undergoing shallow needling with thin needles and no manipulation, n=51). The Sanyinjiao (SP6) was needled for 30 min in both groups. Pain scores at baseline, upon needle removal, and at 10, 20, and 30 min after needle removal were evaluated by the Visual Analogue Scale for pain. The deqi sensation was evaluated by the Acupuncture Deqi Clinical Assessment Scale. Patients who experienced a genuine deqi sensation (n=39) were selected for further analysis. Compared with patients in the non-deqi group who experienced deqi (n=25), patients who self-reported deqi in the deqi group (n=14) felt a stronger deqi sensation, experienced soreness and fullness more frequently, felt a greater intensity of soreness, fullness, electric sensation, spreading, and radiating, and experienced larger spreading distances. In those who experienced the deqi sensation in the deqi group, the intensity of the sensation, as well as their degree of soreness and fullness, was negatively correlated with pain reduction. In patients who experienced the deqi sensation in the non-deqi group, deqi intensity was positively correlated with pain reduction, while soreness was negatively correlated with pain reduction. The distance of spreading was not correlated with pain reduction in either group. We found, in SP6 needling of patients with primary dysmenorrhea with cold and dampness stagnation, that a moderate deqi response predicted a prolonged analgesic effect better than a strong deqi response.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To observe the analgesic effect of deqi induced by needling at Sanyinjiao (SP 6) on primary dysmenorrheal (PD) patients with cold damp stagnation syndrome (CDSS). METHODS: A total of 64 PD patients with CDSS experiencing abdominal pain (≥40 mm in visual analogue scale ,VAS) were randomly assigned into deqi-expectation(DE) group(n=15) and no-deqi-expectation(NDE) group(n=49). On the first day of abdominal pain attack, bilateral SP 6 were punctured respectively with thicker needles with deeper insertion for deqi-expectation patients and thin filiform needles with shallow insertion for no-deqi-expectation patients. The needles were removed after 30 minutes, a deqi scale was used to evaluate the deqi condition. According to the results, patients in the DE group were further divided into deqi DE group and no-deqi DE group, patients in the NDE group were also divided into deqi NDE group and no-deqi NDE group. The VAS was used to evaluate the patients' abdominal pain severity before treatment and 0, 10, 20, 30 min after acupuncture needle withdrawal. RESULTS: The rate of deqi in the DE group was higher than that in the NDE group(P<0.05). The VAS scores of abdominal pain in the four groups were decreased at all time-points after needle withdrawal compared with those before treatment (P<0.01), while the VAS score in the deqi DE group were lower than in the no-deqi NDE group 30 min after needle withdrawal (P<0.05). CONCLUSION: The intervention method of thick needle, deep insertion and some manipulation is easier in inducing deqi than that of thin needle, shallow insertion and no manipulation. The analgesic effect of deqi is better than that of no-deqi for PD patients with CDSS.

RESUMO

The present study aimed to investigate the metabolic response of edible amaranth cultivars to salt stress and the induced rhizosphere effects on Cd mobilization in soil. Two edible amaranth cultivars (Amaranthus mangostanus L.), Quanhong (low-Cd accumulator; LC) and Liuye (high-Cd accumulator; HC), were subject to salinity treatment in both soil and hydroponic cultures. The total amount of mobilized Cd in rhizosphere soil under salinity treatment increased by 2.78-fold in LC cultivar and 4.36-fold in HC cultivar compared with controls, with 51.2% in LC cultivar and 80.5% in HC cultivar being attributed to biological mobilization of salinity. Multivariate statistical analysis generated from metabolite profiles in both rhizosphere soil and root revealed clear discrimination between control and salt treated samples. Tricarboxylic acid cycle in root was up-regulated to cope with salinity treatment, which promoted release of organic acids from root. The increased accumulation of organic acids in rhizosphere under salt stress obviously promoted soil Cd mobility. These results suggested that salinity promoted release of organic acids from root and enhanced soil Cd mobilization and accumulation in edible amaranth cultivar in soil culture.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: The aim of this multicentre randomised controlled trial was to investigate the contribution of de qi to the immediate analgesic effect of acupuncture in patients with primary dysmenorrhoea and the specific traditional Chinese medicine diagnosis cold and dampness stagnation. METHOD: Eighty-eight patients with primary dysmenorrhoea and cold and dampness stagnation were randomly assigned to de qi (n=43) or no de qi (n=45) groups and underwent 30 min of SP6 acupuncture. The de qi group received deep needling at SP6 with manipulation using thick needles; the no de qi group received shallow needling with no manipulation using thin needles. In both groups the pain scores and actual de qi sensation were evaluated using a visual analogue scale for pain (VAS-P) and the acupuncture de qi clinical assessment scale (ADCAS), respectively. RESULTS: Both groups showed reductions in VAS-P, with no signficant differences between groups. ADCAS scores showed 43/43 and 25/45 patients in de qi and no de qi groups, respectively, actually experienced de qi sensation. Independent of original group allocation, VAS-P reductions associated with actual de qi (n=68) were greater than those without (28.4±18.19 mm vs 14.6±12.28 mm, p=0.008). CONCLUSIONS: This study showed no significant difference in VAS-P scores in patients with primary dysmenorrhoea and cold and dampness stagnation immediately after SP6 acupuncture designed to induce or avoid de qi sensation. Both treatments significantly reduced VAS-P relative to baseline. Irrespective of group allocation, patients experiencing actual de qi sensation demonstrated larger reductions in pain score relative to those without, suggesting greater analgesic effects. RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To observe the influence of acupuncture needle stimulation-induced sharp pain on the curative effect of acupuncture therapy for primary dysmenorrhea (PD) patients with cold damp stagnation syndrome (CDSS). METHODS: A total of 87 PD patients with CDSS experiencing abdominal pain (> or =40 mm in visual analogue scale, VAS) were randomly asigned to deqi-expectation group and no-deqi-expectation group which were further divided into deqi-expectation + sharp pain (n = 31), deqi-expectation + no-sharp pain (n = 12), no-deqi-expectation + sharp pain (n = 17), no-deqi-expectation + no- sharp pain (n =27) groups. On the first day of abdominal pain attack, bilateral Sanyinjiao (SP 6) were punctured respectively with thicker needles with deeper insertion for deqi-expectation patients and thin filiform needles with shallow insertion for no-deqi-expectation patients. The needles were manipulated for 30 s with uniform reinforcing-reducing method for all the deqi-expectation patients, which was repeated once again every 10 min during 30 min of needle retention. The VAS was used to evaluate the patients' abdominal pain severity before treatment and 0, 10 min after acupuncture needle withdrawal. RESULTS: Following acupuncture stimulation of SP 6, the VAS scores of menstrual pain at both 0 min and 10 min after withdrawing acupuncture needles were significantly decreased in the deqi-expectation + sharp pain group, deqi-expectation + no-sharp pain group, no-deqi-expectation+sharp pain group and no-deqi-expectation + no-sharp pain group (P<0. 05), and that of 10 min post-needle withdrawal was markedly lower than that of 0 min in the deqi-expectation + sharp pain group ( P<0. 05). No significant differences were found in the VAS difference values at different time-points between deqi-expectation plus sharp pain and deqi- expectation + no-sharp pain groups, and between no-deqi-expectation + sharp pain and no-deqi-expectation + no-sharp pain groups (P>0.05). CONCLUSION: Acupuncture stimulation of SP 6 has an immediate analgesic effect in PD women with cold damp stagnation syndrome, which was not affected by needling-induced sharp pain, deqi-expectation, and thicker or thinner needle with shallow and deeper insertion.

RESUMO

In this work, we report the growth and functional characterizations of multiferroic TbMnO3 thin films grown on Nb-doped SrTiO3 (001) substrates using pulsed laser deposition. By performing detailed magnetic and ferroelectric properties measurements, we demonstrate that the multiferroicity of spin origin known in the bulk crystals can be successfully transferred to TbMnO3 thin films. Meanwhile, anomalous magnetic transition and unusual magnetoelectric coupling related to Tb moments are observed, suggesting a modified magnetic configuration of Tb in the films as compared to the bulk counterpart. In addition, it is found that the magnetoelectric coupling enabled by Tb moments can even be seen far above the Tb spin ordering temperature, which provides a larger temperature range for the magnetoelectric control involving Tb moments.
