RESUMO

Industrial Control Systems (ICSs) were initially designed to be operated in an isolated network. However, recently, ICSs have been increasingly connected to the Internet to expand their capability, such as remote management. This interconnectivity of ICSs exposes them to cyber-attacks. At the same time, cyber-attacks in ICS networks are different compared to traditional Information Technology (IT) networks. Cyber attacks on ICSs usually involve a sequence of actions and a multitude of devices. However, current anomaly detection systems only focus on local analysis, which misses the correlation between devices and the progress of attacks over time. As a consequence, they lack an effective way to detect attacks at an entire network scale and predict possible future actions of an attack, which is of significant interest to security analysts to identify the weaknesses of their network and prevent similar attacks in the future. To address these two key issues, this paper presents a system-wide anomaly detection solution using recurrent neural networks combined with correlation analysis techniques. The proposed solution has a two-layer analysis. The first layer targets attack detection, and the second layer analyses the detected attack to predict the next possible attack actions. The main contribution of this paper is the proof of the concept implementation using two real-world ICS datasets, SWaT and Power System Attack. Moreover, we show that the proposed solution effectively detects anomalies and attacks on the scale of the entire ICS network.

RESUMO

We demonstrate a method to image an object using a self-probing approach based on semiconductor high-harmonic generation. On the one hand, ptychography enables high-resolution imaging from the coherent light diffracted by an object. On the other hand, high-harmonic generation from crystals is emerging as a new source of extreme-ultraviolet ultrafast coherent light. We combine these two techniques by performing ptychography measurements with nanopatterned crystals serving as the object as well as the generation medium of the harmonics. We demonstrate that this strong field in situ approach can provide structural information about an object. With the future developments of crystal high harmonics as a compact short-wavelength light source, our demonstration can be an innovative approach for nanoscale imaging of photonic and electronic devices in research and industry.

RESUMO

With high-harmonic generation (HHG), spatially and temporally coherent XUV to soft x-ray (100 nm to 10 nm) table-top sources can be realized by focusing a driving infrared (IR) laser on a gas target. For applications such as coherent diffraction imaging, holography, plasma diagnostics, or pump-probe experiments, it is desirable to have control over the wave front (WF) of the HHs to maximize the number of XUV photons on target or to tailor the WF. Here, we demonstrate control of the XUV WF by tailoring the driving IR WF with a deformable mirror. The WFs of both IR and XUV beams are monitored with WF sensors. We present a systematic study of the dependence of the aberrations of the HHs on the aberrations of the driving IR laser and explain the observations with propagation simulations. We show that we can control the astigmatism of the HHs by changing the astigmatism of the driving IR laser without compromising the HH generation efficiency with a WF quality from λ/8 to λ/13.3. This allows us to shape the XUV beam without changing any XUV optical element.

RESUMO

Primary Breast cancer is the most common malignancy in females but secondary involvement of breast is very rare. The Most common sites of primaries for breast metastasis are breast carcinoma of contra lateral side, Lymphoma and leukaemia. Medullary Thyroid Carcinoma (MTC) itself is rare and commonly metastasises to liver, lung and bones. Secondary breast involvement by MTC is very rare with only few case reports in literature. Clinically and radiographically breast secondaries mimic benign lesions and may cause diagnostic challenges. To avoid unnecessary surgery and for appropriate treatment decision, accurate diagnosis is important. We present here our experience of a similar case of secondary breast carcinoma from MTC seen at MINAR cancer hospital Multan. The patient presented clinically and radiologically with benign breast lumps. Fine needle aspiration (FNAC) showed atypical cells and Ultra sound guided Trucut biopsy confirmed it to be a secondary from MTC. Patient is under treatment of an oncologist, has been treated with chemotherapy and is on follow up till date.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To determine the surgical outcome of splenectomy in children with thalassemia major. METHODS: It is an observational and descriptive study conducted in Department of Paediatric Surgery in collaboration with hematology, radiology, anesthesia and paediatric intensive care department at The Children's Hospital and the Institute of Child Health, Multan during the period of September 2007 to September 2013. A total of 50 patients suffering from thalassemia major already diagnosed and under management reffered from haematology department for splenectomy were included in this study. After admission, patients were assessed on the basis of history, clinical examination, and necessary investigations before surgery and later on follow-up. Investigations carried were CBC, PT, APTT, Viral markers, ECG, X-ray Chest, abdominal ultrasonography and ECHO if necessary. Splenectomy was performed after prophylactic vaccination against post splenectomy infections. Follow up was performed for at least two years. Blood transfusion requirements and number of hospital visits per annum before and after splenectomy were calculated and results analyzed statistically using SPSS-20. RESULTS: Fifty patients were included in this study. Out of these fifty, 43 (86%) male and 7(14%) were female with a mean age of 9 years. Average blood transfusion requirement was 250 ml/kg/year, interval of blood transfusion was two weeks and twenty five visits per year before splenectomy. After splenectomy, requirement of blood transfusion reduced to 125ml/kg/year, interval between transfusion increased to one month and hospital visits reduced up to twelve per year. CONCLUSION: Blood transfusion requirement and number of hospital visits per year are decreased and interval between transfusions is increased after splenectomy. Splenectomy should not be delayed when indicated. Preoperative vaccination decreases the chance of post splenectomy infection.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: CBC (complete blood count) tests, along with RPM (Renal parameters) and LFT (Liver function tests), are clinically important for coronavirus patients; curcumin can serve as a possible treatment for SARS- CoV. OBJECTIVE: The objective of the study was to determine the relationship of CBC parameters with renal parameters and liver function tests and to develop the hypothesis that curcumin may be the best and non-invasive drug for coronavirus. Materials &Methods: The differences between the results of 91 confirmed cases of covid-19 (symptomatic and asymptomatic) and 100 controls were assessed by an independent t-test and Mann-Witney U Wilcoxon test. Microscopy, hematological tools, and techniques were used to assess the improvements/abnormalities in blood components and parameters. RESULTS: This is a case control study along with the feasibility of curcumin as covid treatment. The association between parameters was assessed by Pearson & Spearman correlation analysis. The level of significance was p<0.05. Changes were observed in urea (p=0.000), creatinine (p=0.02), total bilirubin (P=0.000), SGPT (ALT) (p=0.000), RBC (p=0.001), HGB (p=0.001), MCV (p=0.002), MCH (p=0.03), MPV, PDW, NE%, LY%, and MO% EO% (p=0.00), in comparison to normal controls. Differences in the correlation of electrolytes, RPM, and LFT tests along with CBC parameters in Pakistani and Chinese individuals provided a new idea for using various diagnostic and therapeutic tools in different ethnic groups. The covid-19 infected blood components and parameters showed rapid improvement/recovery, especially the total count of platelets and WBCs (lymphocytes and basophils), HGB, HCT, MCV, and MCH. CONCLUSION: Curcumin drugs can be used as an immediate remedy/treatment to cure COVID-19 patients.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: This study is aimed to assess the efficacy of intralesional Bleomycin sclerotherapy in macrocystic lymphangioma in children. METHODS: This prospective observational study included 40 children diagnosed with macrocystic lymphangioma and treated with intralesional injection of Bleomycin from March 2016 to Dec 2018. We excluded all the patients above 12 years of age, lesions with size less than 2 cm, and post-surgical recurrent lesions. The response to the treatment was monitored clinically by assessing length, breadth and area of the lesion and ultrasonographically. Mean follow-up period was 2 years. Study variables were analysed by simple descriptive statistics. Mean and standard deviation were calculated for numerical variables (age). Frequency and percentage were calculated for gender, site, size and type of cystic lymphangioma and total number of treatment sessions. RESULTS: The mean age of patients was 3.51±2.98 years. Out of 40 patients, there were 26 (65%) male and 14 (35%) females with female to male ratio of 1:1.8. The commonest site and type of cystic lymphangioma was neck and macrocystic, i.e., 77.5% and 85% respectively. The pre and post procedure size of lesion was 9.71±3.95cm and 3.11±1.02 cm, respectively. Outcome was excellent in 20% patients, good in 72.5% and poor in 7.5% patients. CONCLUSIONS: Intralesional Bleomycin sclerotherapy is effective in the treatment of macrocystic lymphangioma and is found to be harmless as there was no grave complication observed in this study.
