RESUMO

Pollutant removal and resource recovery from high-humidity flue gas after desulfurization in a thermal power plant are crucial for improving air quality and saving energy. This study developed a flue gas treatment method involving phase transition enhanced by corona discharge based on laboratory research and established a field-scale unit for demonstration. The results indicate that an adequate increase in size will improve the ease of particle capture. A wet electrostatic precipitator is applied before the condensing heat exchangers to enhance the particle growth and capture processes. This results in an increase of 58% in the particle median diameter in the heat exchanger and an emission concentration below 1 mg/m3. Other pollutants, such as SO3 and Hg, can also be removed with emission concentrations of 0.13 mg/m3 and 1.10 µg/m3, respectively. Under the condensation enhancement of the method, it is possible to recover up to 3.26 t/h of water from 200 000 m3/h saturated flue gas (323 K), and the quality of the recovered water meets the standards stipulated in China. Additionally, charge-induced condensation is shown to improve heat recovery, resulting in the recovery of more than 43.34 kJ/h·m3 of heat from the flue gas. This method is expected to save 2628 t of standard coal and reduce carbon dioxide emission by 2% annually, contributing to environmental protection and global-warming mitigation.

RESUMO

This paper presents a temperature-insensitive wideband cryogenic amplifier for superconducting nanowire single-photon detectors (SNSPD). With a proposed folded diode-connected transistor load to realize a good device-tracking feature, the theoretical derivations the simulations and test results prove that the amplifier-gain cell has a stable gain performance over a wide temperature range, solving the issues of a lack of the accurate cryogenic device models. The amplifier achieves a gain of 26 dB from 100 kHz to 1 GHz at 4.2 K, consuming only 1.8 mW from a 1.8 V supply. With a 0.13-µm SiGe BiCMOS process, the chip area is 0.5 mm².

RESUMO

Circulating fluidized bed (CFB) boilers with wet flue gas desulfurization (WFGD) system is a popular technology for SO2 removal in the coal-fired thermal power plant. However, the long response time of continues emission monitoring system (CEMS) and the hardness of continuously monitoring the coal properties leads to the difficulties for controlling WFGD. It is important to build a model that is adaptable to the fluctuation of load and coal properties, which can obtain the SO2 concentration ahead CEMS, without relying on coal properties. In this paper, a prediction model of inlet SO2 concentration of WFGD considering the delay between the features and target based on long-short term memory (LSTM) network with auto regression feature is established. The SO2 concentration can be obtained 90 s earlier than CEMS. The model shows good adaptability to the fluctuation of SO2 concentration and coal properties. The root-mean-squared error (RMSE) and R squared (R2) of the model are 30.11 mg/m3 and 0.986, respectively. Meanwhile, a real-time prediction system is built on the 220 t/h unit. A field test for long-term operation has been conducted. The prediction system is able to continuously and accurately predict the inlet SO2 concentration of the WFGD, which can provide the operators with an accurate reference for the control of WFGD.

RESUMO

A comprehensive study was conducted on the characteristics of oxygen-controlled carbonization process of sewage sludge (SS) using thermogravimetric analysis and lab-scale carbonization experiment. Reaction temperature of SS carbonization was varied between 250 and 650 °C in carrier gas with different O2 contents. The thermal process of SS in low oxygen could be divided into three stages: dehydration (below 160 °C), devolatilization (160-380 °C), stubborn volatile decomposition and fixed carbon combustion (380-600 °C). Based on Kissinger-Akahira-Sunose (KAS) and Flynn-Wall-Ozawa (FWO) methods, the reaction activation energy (E) of SS carbonization process in 10% O2 was the lowest, with values of 98.50 kJ mol-1 (KAS) and 103.49 kJ mol-1 (FWO). The properties of the obtained char, tar, and gas products were analyzed by FTIR and GC-MS. With the increase of carbonization temperature, char yield decreased and gas yield increased. The highest yield of tar was 27.76% (N2) and 27.04% (10% O2) at 450 °C. Low-oxygen atmosphere at the same temperature did not change the yield of char but increased the fixed carbon content and its aromaticity. Oxygen would participate in secondary cracking in tar and promote gas generation above 350 °C. It was found that the presence of oxygen not only increased the concentration of H2, CO, and CH4 in gas product, but also improved the quality of tar in terms of high aromatic content and low nitrogen-containing compounds.

RESUMO

Animals with recent shared ancestry frequently adapt in parallel to new but similar habitats, a process often underlined by repeated selection of the same genes. Yet, in contrast, few examples have demonstrated the significance of gene reuse in colonization of multiple disparate habitats. By analyzing 343 genomes of the widespread Asian honeybee, Apis cerana, we showed that multiple peripheral subspecies radiated from a central ancestral population and adapted independently to diverse habitats. We found strong evidence of gene reuse in the Leucokinin receptor (Lkr), which was repeatedly selected in almost all peripheral subspecies. Differential expression and RNA interference knockdown revealed the role of Lkr in influencing foraging labor division, suggesting that Lkr facilitates collective tendency for pollen/nectar collection as an adaptation to floral changes. Our results suggest that honeybees may accommodate diverse floral shifts during rapid radiation through fine-tuning individual foraging tendency, a seemingly complex process accomplished by gene reuse.

RESUMO

Although the direct combustion of biomass for energy that applies circulating fluidized bed (CFB) technology is steadily expanding worldwide, only few studies have conducted an environmental assessment of biomass ash thus far. Therefore, this study aims to integrate information on the environmental effects of biomass ash. We investigated the concentration of heavy metal in biomass ash samples (bottom ash, cyclone ash, and filter ash) derived from a CFB boiler that combusted agricultural and forest residues at a biomass power plant (2×12 MW) in China. Ash samples were gathered for the digestion and leaching test. The heavy metal content in the solution and the leachate was studied via an inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometer and a Malvern Mastersizer 2000 mercury analyzer. Measurements for the chemical composition, particle size distribution, and the surface morphology were carried out. Most of the metals in cyclone ash particles were enriched, whereas Ti and Hg were enriched in filter ash. Residence time contributed most to heavy metal enrichment. Under HJ/T 300 conditions, the heavy metals showed serious leaching characteristics. Under EN 12457-2 conditions, leaching behavior was hardly detected.
