RESUMO

In recent years, nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) has become a more serious public health issue worldwide. This study strived to investigate the molecular mechanism of pathogenesis of NAFLD and explore promising diagnostic and therapeutic targets for NAFLD. Raw data from GSE130970 were downloaded from the Gene Expression Omnibus database. We used the dataset to analyze the expression levels of cuproptosis-related genes in NAFLD patients and healthy controls to identify the differentially expressed cuproptosis-related genes (DECRGs). The relationship and potential mechanism between DECRGs and clinicopathological factors were examined by enrichment analysis and two consensus clustering methods. We screened key DECRGs based on Random Forest (RF), and then verified the key DECRGs in NAFLD patients, high-fat diet (HFD)-fed mice, and palmitic acid-induced AML12 cells. ROC analysis showed good diagnostic function of DECRGs in normal and NAFLD liver tissue. Two consensus clusters indicated the important role of cuproptosis in the development of NAFLD. We screened for key DECRGs (DLD, DLAT) based on RF and found a close relationship between the DECRGs and clinicopathological factors. We collected clinical blood samples to verify the differences in gene expression levels by qPCR. In addition, we further verified the expression levels of DLD and DLAT in HFD mice and AML12 cells, which showed the same results. This study provides a novel perspective on the pathogenesis of NAFLD. We identified two cuproptosis-related genes that are closely related to NAFLD. These genes may play a significant role in the molecular pathogenesis of NAFLD, which may be useful to make progress in the diagnosis and treatment of NAFLD.

RESUMO

Red light induces stomatal opening by affecting photosynthesis, metabolism and triggering signal transductions in guard cells. Phytochrome B (phyB) plays a positive role in mediating red light-induced stomatal opening. However, phyB-mediated red light guard cell signalling is poorly understood. Here, we found that phyB-mediated sequential phosphorylation of mitogen-activated protein kinase kinase 2 (MAPKK2, MKK2) and MPK2 in guard cells is essential for red light-induced stomatal opening. Mutations in MKK2 and MPK2 led to reduced stomatal opening in response to white light, and these phenotypes could be observed under red light, not blue light. MKK2 interacted with MPK2 in vitro and in plants. MPK2 was directly phosphorylated by MKK2 in vitro. Red light triggered the phosphorylation of MKK2 in guard cells, and MKK2 phosphorylation was greatly reduced in phyB mutant. Simultaneously, red light-stimulated MPK2 phosphorylation in guard cells was inhibited in mkk2 mutant. Furthermore, mkk2 and mpk2 mutants exhibit significantly smaller stomatal apertures than that of wild type during the stomatal opening stage in the diurnal stomatal movements. Our results indicate that red light-promoted phyB-dependent phosphorylation of MKK2-MPK2 cascade in guard cells is essential for stomatal opening, which contributes to the fine-tuning of stomatal opening apertures under light.

RESUMO

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a common neurodegenerative disease in the elderly. Dysregulation of intracellular Ca2+ homeostasis plays a critical role in the pathological development of AD. Dauricine (DAU) is a bisbenzylisoquinoline alkaloid isolated from Menispermum dauricum DC., which can prevent the influx of extracellular Ca2+ and inhibit the release of Ca2+ from the endoplasmic reticulum. DAU has a potential for anti-AD. However, it is unclear whether DAU can exert its anti-AD effect in vivo by regulating the Ca2+ related signaling pathways. Here, we investigated the effect and mechanism of DAU on D-galactose and AlCl3 combined-induced AD mice based on the Ca2+/CaM pathway. The results showed that DAU (1 mg/kg and 10 mg/kg for 30 days) treatment attenuated learning and memory deficits and improved the nesting ability of AD mice. The HE staining assay showed that DAU could inhibit the histopathological alterations and attenuate neuronal damage in the hippocampus and cortex of AD mice. Studies on the mechanism indicated that DAU decreased the phosphorylation of CaMKII and Tau and reduced the formation of NFTs in the hippocampus and cortex. DAU treatment also reduced the abnormally high expression of APP, BACE1, and Aß1-42, which inhibited the deposition of Aß plaques. Moreover, DAU could decrease Ca2+ levels and inhibit elevated CaM protein expression in the hippocampus and cortex of AD mice. The molecular docking results showed that DAU may have a high affinity with CaM or BACE1. DAU has a beneficial impact on pathological changes in AD mice induced by D-galactose and AlCl3 and may act by negative regulation of the Ca2+/CaM pathway and its downstream molecules such as CaMKII and BACE1.

RESUMO

Ulcerative colitis (UC) is an inflammatory bowel disease of unknown cause that typically affects the colon and rectum. Innate intestinal immunity, including macrophages, plays a significant role in the pathological development of UC. Using the CIBERSORT algorithm, we observed elevated levels of 22 types of immune cell infiltrates, as well as increased M1 and decreased M2 macrophages in UC compared to normal colonic mucosa. Weighted gene coexpression network analysis (WGCNA) was used to identify modules associated with macrophages and UC, resulting in the identification of 52 macrophage-related genes (MRGs) that were enriched in macrophages at single-cell resolution. Consensus clustering based on these 52 MRGs divided the integrated UC cohorts into three subtypes. Machine learning algorithms were used to identify ectonucleotide pyrophosphatase/phosphodiesterase 1 (ENPP1), sodium- and chloride-dependent neutral and basic amino acid transporter B(0+) (SLC6A14), and 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-CoA synthase 2 (HMGCS2) in the training set, and their diagnostic value was validated in independent validation sets. Gene set enrichment analysis (GSEA) and gene set variation analysis (GSVA) revealed the main biological effects, and that interleukin-17 was one of several signaling pathways enriched by the three genes. We also constructed a competitive endogenous RNA (CeRNA) network reflecting a potential posttranscriptional regulatory mechanism. Expression of diagnostic markers was validated in vivo and in biospecimens, and our immunohistochemistry (IHC) results confirmed that HMGCS2 gradually decreased during the transformation of UC to colorectal cancer. In conclusion, ENPP1, SLC6A14, and HMGCS2 are associated with macrophages and the progression of UC pathogenesis and have good diagnostic value for patients with UC.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Bedtime procrastination (BP), a special type of health behavior procrastination, is considered to be a failure of self-control. Notably, self-control may mediate the effect of trait anxiety on general procrastination. However, there is no evidence demonstrating the role of self-control in the relationship between trait anxiety and BP. Moreover, the association between BP and trait anxiety has not yet been thoroughly studied. Therefore, the present study aimed to explore the direct relationship between them as well as the mediating role of self-control in this relationship. METHODS: This cross-sectional survey included 718 college students enrolled in Chinese universities between October 2018 and January 2020. The Chinese versions of the Bedtime Procrastination Scale, the Self-Control Scale, and the Trait Anxiety Inventory were used to evaluate BP, self-control, and trait anxiety, respectively. RESULTS: Multiple linear regression analysis revealed trait anxiety independently predicted BP while controlling for demographic characteristics. Correlation analyses showed that BP was positively correlated with trait anxiety, but negatively related to self-control. Structural equation modeling further revealed a mediating role of self-control in the relationship between trait anxiety and BP. CONCLUSIONS: Trait anxiety is a significant independent predictor of BP and may induce BP directly or indirectly through the effect of self-control. These findings provide a deeper understanding of the relationship between trait anxiety and BP and the underlying mechanism by exploring the mediating effect of self-control. As such, trait anxiety and self-control should be included in prevention and intervention strategies to address BP behavior in college students.

RESUMO

E3 ubiquitin ligases play important roles in plant immunity, but their role in soybean has not been investigated previously. Here, we used Bean pod mottle virus (BPMV)-mediated virus-induced gene silencing (VIGS) to investigate the function of GmSAUL1 (Senescence-Associated E3 Ubiquitin Ligase 1) homologs in soybean. When two closely related SAUL1 homologs were silenced simultaneously, the soybean plants displayed autoimmune phenotypes, which were significantly alleviated by high temperature, suggesting that GmSAUL1a/1b might be guarded by an R protein. Interestingly, silencing GmSAUL1a/1b resulted in the decreased activation of GmMPK6, but increased activation of GmMPK3 in response to flg22, suggesting that the activation of GmMPK3 is most likely responsible for the activated immunity observed in the GmSAUL1a/1b-silenced plants. Furthermore, we provided evidence that GmSAUL1a is a bona fide E3 ligase. Collectively, our results indicated that GmSAUL1 plays a negative role in regulating cell death and immunity in soybean.

RESUMO

AIMS: This study aimed to explore the therapeutic effects of Lactiplantibacillus plantarum HG20 (HG20) on collagen-induced arthritis (CIA) rats and its mechanism. METHODS AND RESULTS: CIA rats were established by injecting bovine type II collagen for 7 days, and treated by intragastric administration HG20 for 21 days. The foot palm temperature and arthritis score were measured once a week. The pathological changes in the knee joint were observed by hematoxylin and eosin staining. The levels of cytokines were detected by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay, and the effects of HG20 on inflammatory and apoptosis pathway of spleen cells were detected by western blot analysis. The results indicated that HG20 reduced the joint swelling degree and foot palm temperature, inhibited the development of joint histopathology, decreased the levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines, down-regulate the expression of pro-inflammatory cytokines by nuclear factor kappa-B pathway, and inhibited the apoptosis of spleen cells by inhibiting phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase/protein kinase B pathway and regulating apoptosis pathways. CONCLUSIONS: HG20 had an adjuvant therapeutic effect on arthritis in CIA rats, and its mechanism might be related to the inflammatory and apoptosis pathway. SIGNIFICANCE AND IMPACT OF STUDY: These results revealed that HG20 could be used as a functional probiotic in the field of food and medical, and which played a potential role in the prevention and treatment of arthritis.

RESUMO

KEY MESSAGE: NtRAV4 is a nucleus-localised protein and no self-activation effect. ntrav4 mutants maintain the steady state of the ROS system under drought stress by enhancing antioxidant capacity and defence system. The APETALA2/ethylene response factor (AP2/ERF) transcription factor (TF) family plays an important role in plant responses to environmental stresses. In this study, we identified a novel NtRAV4 TF, a member of RAV subfamily among AP2/ERF gene family, which have AP2 and B3 domain in its N- and C-terminus, respectively. Subcellular localisation and self-activation activity analysis revealed that NtRAV4 localised in the nucleus and had no self-activation effect. The overexpression and gene editing vectors of NtRAV4 were constructed by homologous recombination and CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing methods, and transformed into tobacco by agrobacterium-mediated method. ntrav4 led to the appearance of termination codon in advance and lacked the unique B3 domain of RAV subfamily protein. Further analysis displayed that knockout of the NtRAV4 in tobacco increased drought tolerance with high relative water content, accompanied by reduced stomatal aperture, density, and stomatal opening ratio compared to overexpression lines and WT. Moreover, ntrav4 knockout plants also exhibited increased osmotic tolerance with low malondialdehyde (MDA) and ion leakage (EL), less accumulation of O2•- and H2O2, and high enzymatic antioxidant (SOD, POD, CAT) activities, non-enzymatic antioxidant (AsA-GSH cycle) contents and hormone (IAA, ABA, GA3, and ZR) levels under drought stress. Furthermore, ntrav4 mutants in tobacco improved the expression levels of ROS-related proline synthesis and stress-responsive genes under osmotic stress. Our results indicate that NtRAV4 negatively regulates plant tolerance to drought stress by reducing water loss and activating the antioxidant system and stress-related gene expression to maintain the steady state of the ROS system.

RESUMO

Chromium (Cr) is a harmful heavy metal that poses a serious threat to plants and animals. Selenium (Se) and molybdenum (Mo) are two beneficial elements for plant growth and resistance. However, their interactive effects on Cr uptake and distribution are poorly understood. Therefore, a hydroponics experiment was conducted to explore the effects of the use of Se and Mo alone and simultaneously on mitigating Cr toxicity. In this study, Nicotiana tabacum L. seedlings were exposed to control, 50 µM Cr, 50 µM Cr + 2 µM Se, 50 µM Cr + 1 µM Mo, or 50 µM Cr + 2 µM Se + 1 µM Mo in Hoagland solution. After 2 weeks, the plant biomass, Cr, Se and Mo contents, photosynthesis, leaf ultrastructure, antioxidant system, subcellular distribution and associated gene expression in Nicotiana tabacum L. were determined. The results showed that simultaneous use of Se and Mo promoted tobacco growth under Cr stress, as evidenced by reducing reactive oxygen species (ROS) content and reducing Cr translocation factor (TF) and inducing a 51.3% reduction in Cr content in shoots. Additionally, Se-Mo interactions increased the levels of glutathione (GSH) and phytochelatin (PC) and the distribution of Cr in the cell walls and organelles. Furthermore, the relative expression of PCS1 was upregulated, while those of NtST1 and MSN1 were downregulated. The results concluded that the simultaneous use of Se and Mo effectively alleviated Cr toxicity in Nicotiana tabacum L., which not only offers an efficient way for crops to resist Cr toxicity but also provides evidence for the benefit of Se combined with Mo.

RESUMO

The visible-light induced heterogeneous photo-Fenton-like (HPF-like) process is regarded as a promising technique for organic pollutants degradation due to its efficient utilization of solar energy and high H2O2 activation activity. This study prepared the CuFeO2/biochar catalysts via hydrothermal technique at no extra reductant and systematically investigated their band structure and photoelectric properties. The dispersed distribution of CuFeO2 particles in CuFeO2/biochar composites narrowed bandgap of CuFeO2 and promoted electron transport of CuFeO2. Compared with CuFeO2, the CuFeO2/biochar containing 1.0 g biochar in the preparation (CuFeO2/biochar-1.0) possessed higher carrier density and longer photoelectron lifetime, which is beneficial to higher catalytic performance. The apparent rate constant for tetracycline as target pollutant degradation by CuFeO2/biochar-1.0 was 2.0 times higher than that by CuFeO2. The acquired optimum conditions for tetracycline degradation were 220 mg L-1 CuFeO2/BC-1.0, 22 mM H2O2 and pH 6.4 using response surface methodology. The quenching experiments and ESR analysis revealed that OH was the predominant active species, and photoelectron and O2- were auxiliary species. The photoelectron could promote in-situ recycling of Cu2+ to Cu+ and Fe3+ to Fe2+, which significantly improved H2O2 activation by CuFeO2. The possible pathway of tetracycline was proposed according to intermediates identified by HPLC/MS. The toxicity analysis demonstrated that the overall toxicity of the identified intermediates was reduced in HPF-like system.

RESUMO

MicroRNAs are a group of endogenous regulators that participate in several cellular physiological processes. However, the role of miR-137 in the osteogenic differentiation of human adipose-derived stem cells (hASCs) has not been reported. This study verified a general downward trend in miR-137 expression during the osteogenic differentiation of hASCs. MiR-137 knockdown promoted the osteogenesis of hASCs in vitro and in vivo. Mechanistically, inhibition of miR-137 activated the bone morphogenetic protein 2 (BMP2)-mothers against the decapentaplegic homolog 4 (SMAD4) pathway, whereas repressed lysine-specific histone demethylase 1 (LSD1), which was confirmed as a negative regulator of osteogenesis in our previous studies. Furthermore, LSD1 knockdown enhanced the expression of BMP2 and SMAD4, suggesting the coordination of LSD1 in the osteogenic regulation of miR-137. This study indicated that miR-137 negatively regulated the osteogenic differentiation of hASCs via the LSD1/BMP2/SMAD4 signaling network, revealing a new potential therapeutic target of hASC-based bone tissue engineering.

RESUMO

Recently, there have been renewed interests in exploring new catalysts for ammonia synthesis under mild conditions. Electride-based catalysts are among the emerging ones. Ruthenium particles supported on an electride composed of a mixture of calcium and aluminum oxides (C12A7) have attracted great attention for ammonia synthesis due to their facile ability in activating N2 under ambient pressure. However, the exact nature of the reactive hydrogen species and the role of electride support still remain elusive for this catalytic system. In this work, we report for the first time that the surface-adsorbed hydrogen, rather than the hydride encaged in the C12A7 electride, plays a major role in ammonia synthesis over the Ru/C12A7 electride catalyst with the aid of in situ neutron scattering techniques. Combining in situ neutron diffraction, inelastic neutron spectroscopy, density functional theory (DFT) calculation, and temperature-programmed reactions, the results provide direct evidence for not only the presence of encaged hydrides during ammonia synthesis but also the strong thermal and chemical stability of the hydride species in the Ru/C12A7 electride. Steady state isotopic transient kinetic analysis (SSITKA) of ammonia synthesis showed that the coverage of reactive intermediates increased significantly when the Ru particles were promoted by the electride form (coverage up to 84%) of the C12A7 support rather than the oxide form (coverage up to 15%). Such a drastic change in the intermediate coverage on the Ru surface is attributed to the positive role of electride support where the H2 poisoning effect is absent during ammonia synthesis over Ru. The finding of this work has significant implications for understanding catalysis by electride-based materials for ammonia synthesis and hydrogenation reactions in general.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Bedtime procrastination (BP) has been proven to be an important indicator of sleep insufficiency from a psychological perspective. However, the effect of BP on sleep patterns related to sleep deficiency remains unknown. OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to investigate the characteristics of self-reported sleep timing and hygiene practices between high and low-moderate bedtime procrastinators. It also aimed to examine the relationship between these characteristics and high level of BP. METHODS: A total of 391 Chinese college students were recruited for this study. Participants completed questionnaires on demographics, sleep timing variables, the Sleep Hygiene Practice Scale (SHPS) and the Bedtime Procrastination Scale (BPS). RESULTS: High bedtime procrastinators were more likely to have higher SHPS global and subdomain scores (Ps < 0.001). They also were more likely to exhibit later sleep onset, sleep offset and rise time on both weekdays and weekends (Ps < 0.01). The significant independent determinant factors of the prevalence of high BP were: SHPS total score [odds ratio (OR) = 1.05, P < 0.001], arousal-related behaviour (OR = 1.07, P = 0.007), sleep schedule and timing (OR = 1.12, P < 0.001) and sleep onset on weekdays (OR = 2.65, P < 0.001). CONCLUSIONS: High bedtime procrastinators showed maladaptive sleep-related variables, which mainly manifested as changes in arousal-related behaviour and sleep schedule and timing, as well as delays in sleep onset time on weekdays. The findings could help guide the formulation of appropriate interventions in primary health care.

RESUMO

PURPOSE: Depression symptoms are closely related to inadequate sleep and are experienced by medical students at an increased rate. Bedtime procrastination is considered a new, important predictor of sleep deficiency. However, whether there is a correlation between bedtime procrastination and depression symptoms remains unclear. This study aimed to examine the impact of bedtime procrastination on depression symptoms among medical students. METHODS: A total of 419 Chinese medical students were invited to participate in this study, and 401 participants (mean age, 19.48 years; range, 17-23 years) were included in the final statistical analysis. Depression symptoms and bedtime procrastination were assessed using the Beck Depression Inventory-II (BDI-II) and the Bedtime Procrastination Scale (BPS), respectively. RESULTS: The prevalence of depression symptoms in Chinese medical students was 26.9%. The mean BPS scores were significantly higher in the depressed group than in the non-depressed group. Binary logistic regression analysis identified that bedtime procrastination was an independent contributor to the prevalence of depression symptoms. Further correlation and multiple linear regression analyses demonstrated that the BDI scores were significantly and positively associated with the BPS scores in students without depression, while the BDI scores correlated with male students experiencing depression. CONCLUSIONS: Depression symptoms, which become more prevalent among Chinese medical students, are found to independently associate with bedtime procrastination. In particular, the severity of depression symptoms shows a positive correlation with increased bedtime procrastination before developing into depression, and it shows correlation with sex only in a state of depression.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To explore the molecular basis for two brothers affected with globozoospermia. METHODS: Whole exome sequencing was carried out for both patients. Candidate variant was verified by Sanger sequencing and quantitative real-time PCR (qRT-PCR). RESULTS: Whole exome sequencing, Sanger sequencing and qRT-PCR verification revealed a heterozygous c.384dup (p.Glu129*) variant in the DPY19L2 gene in the two brothers and their mother. A large heterozygous deletion, spanning approximately 164.5 kb and encompassing the entire DPY19L2 gene, was detected on chromosome 12 of the two patients and their father. CONCLUSION: The c.384dup (p.Glu129*) variant and deletion of the DPY19L2 gene probably underlie the pathogenesis of globozoospermia in the two patients, which was in keeping with the autosomal recessive inheritance of disease in this pedigree.

RESUMO

We develop measures of oil earnings uncertainty (OEU) using analyst forecasts drawn from a large firm-level dataset. OEU is related to future economic downturns, so some OEU measures may serve to forecast future downturns. An increase in OEU also has adverse effects on the US oil sector. The results are robust to conditioning on aggregate uncertainty. At the same time, OEU is related to increases in stock prices - unlike aggregate uncertainty, which has the opposite effect. OEU is thus an independent influence on both the oil industry and on economic aggregates.

RESUMO

Plant meristems are responsible for the generation of all plant tissues and organs. Here we show that the transcription factor (TF) FAR-RED ELONGATED HYPOCOTYL3 (FHY3) plays an important role in both floral meristem (FM) determinacy and shoot apical meristem maintenance in Arabidopsis, in addition to its well-known multifaceted roles in plant growth and development during the vegetative stage. Through genetic analyses, we show that WUSCHEL (WUS) and CLAVATA3 (CLV3), two central players in the establishment and maintenance of meristems, are epistatic to FHY3 Using genome-wide ChIP-seq and RNA-seq data, we identify hundreds of FHY3 target genes in flowers and find that FHY3 mainly acts as a transcriptional repressor in flower development, in contrast to its transcriptional activator role in seedlings. Binding motif-enrichment analyses indicate that FHY3 may coregulate flower development with three flower-specific MADS-domain TFs and four basic helix-loop-helix TFs that are involved in photomorphogenesis. We further demonstrate that CLV3, SEPALLATA1 (SEP1), and SEP2 are FHY3 target genes. In shoot apical meristem, FHY3 directly represses CLV3, which consequently regulates WUS to maintain the stem cell pool. Intriguingly, CLV3 expression did not change significantly in fhy3 and phytochrome B mutants before and after light treatment, indicating that FHY3 and phytochrome B are involved in light-regulated meristem activity. In FM, FHY3 directly represses CLV3, but activates SEP2, to ultimately promote FM determinacy. Taken together, our results reveal insights into the mechanisms of meristem maintenance and determinacy, and illustrate how the roles of a single TF may vary in different organs and developmental stages.

RESUMO

A system composed of vanadium(IV) disulfide quantum dots (VS2 QDs) and molybdenum(IV) disulfide (MoS2) nanosheets for use in an aptamer-based fluorometric tetracycline assay was developed. The tetracycline (TET) aptamer was first immobilzed on the VS2 QDs with a typical size of 3 nm. The blue fluorescence of the VS2 QDs (labeled with aptamer) with emission maxima at 448 nm (under excitation at 360 nm) was subsequently quenched by MoS2 nanosheets. If TET is recognized by the aptamer, the VS2 QDs drift away from the basal plane of the MoS2 nanosheets. This generated "turn-on" fluorescence of the VS2 QDs. A VS2 QD/MoS2 nanosheet-based fluorometric TET aptasensor was thus constructed. Selective and sensitive TET bioanalysis was realized in a linear range of 1 to 250 ng mL-1. The detection limit was 0.06 ng mL-1. Its applicability of determination of TET in milk samples has been demonstrated. RESUMO

As an essential enzyme highly associated with various human diseases, alkaline phosphatase (ALP) plays an important role in human tissues. Developing new materials and strategies for monitoring ALP is thus important. We have developed a novel label-free fluorescent sensing system for ALP activity that is based on the "turn-on" fluorescence of VS2 quantum dots. The fluorescence of VS2 quantum dots quenched by Fe3+ can be restored by ascorbic acid, which is generated by hydrolysis of L-ascorbic acid 2-phosphate catalyzed by ALP. Rapid, convenient, and sensitive detection of ALP is achieved in the range from 3 to 1000 U/L (R 2 =0.9985), with a detection limit of 0.27 U/L. The proposed sensor exhibits excellent selectivity for ALP compared with other enzymes and proteins, such as glucose oxidase, lysozyme, trypsin, human serum albumin, and bovine serum albumin. The reliability for ALP determination in human serum plasma has been demonstrated with satisfactory recovery, revealing promising application in clinical diagnosis and biomedical research. RESUMO

DNA marked-assisted selection of medicinal plants accelerated the breeding and promotion of new cultivars, and guaranteed the healthy development of Chinese medicinal materials industry. The first disease-resistant cultivar of notoginseng, namely "Miaoxiang Kangqi 1", served as the object of study. We evaluated the Kangqi's resistance of seeds, seedlings and root against the pathological bacteria (Fusarum oxysporum) of root rot. Compared to the traditional cultivars, the disease index of notoginseng seeds declined by 52.0% after inoculation for seven days; the death rate of seedlings and disease index of root respectively decreased by 72.1% and 62.4% after inoculation for 25 days. Additionally, the growth inhibition ratio of notoginseng seeds and seedlings declined after inoculation. The seeds, seedlings and roots of "Miaoxiang Kangqi 1" showed significantly resistant to root rot. The evaluation of disease-resistance of Kangqi provided the basis for the popularization of new cultivar and guaranteed the favoring conduct of notoginseng pollution-free cultivation.
