RESUMO

Lumpy skin disease virus (LSDV) is the causative agent of an economically important disease of cattle and water buffaloes. Here, we announce the complete genome sequence of the LSDV from Jammu and Kashmir, India. LSDV/02/KASH/IND/2022 was detected in skin biopsy sample of an LSD-infected dairy cow on 24 October 2022.

RESUMO

Zimmermann-Laband syndrome is a rare condition which manifests as hereditary gingival tissue hypertrophy along with other clinical features. Till date, only few cases have been reported in the literature. This case report focuses on an extremely rare presentation of Zimmermann-Laband syndrome in a twin. There has not been a single case report of Zimmermann-Laband syndrome in twins.

RESUMO

During a preparative separation of the cis enantiomeric pair of benzyl-2,3-dihydroxypiperidine-1-carboxylate using supercritical-fluid chromatography (SFC) with methanol modifier, significant degradation of the products in the collected fractions was observed when a Waters SFC-350® (Milford, MA, USA) was used, but same was not observed when a Waters SFC-80q® (Milford, MA, USA) was used. Through a systematic investigation, we discovered that the compound degraded over time under an acidic condition created by the formation of methyl carbonic acid from methanol and CO2. The extent of the product degradation was dependent on the time and the concentration of CO2 remained in the product fraction, which was governed by the efficiency of CO2-methanol separation during the fraction collection. Hence, we demonstrated that the different designs of CO2-solvent separator (high pressurized cyclone in Waters SFC-350® and low-pressurized vortexing separator in Waters SFC-80q®®) had a significant impact on the degradation of an acid-sensitive compound. The acidity caused by CO2 in methanol was supported by diminished degradation after a nitrogen purging or after neutralizing the collected fractions with a base. Three different solutions to overcome the degradation problem of the acid sensitive compounds using SFC-350® with the high pressurized separator were investigated and demonstrated. The degraded products were isolated as four enantiomers and their relative stereochemistry were established based on 2D NMR data along with the plausible mechanism of degradation.

RESUMO

Occurrence of multiple odontogenic keratocyst involving the jaws is rare. When multiple, it is usually associated with a syndrome. Occurrence of multiple odontogenic keratocyst without syndromic association is extremely rare. Gorlin-Goltz syndrome which is also known as Nevoid Basal Cell Carcinoma Syndrome is a rare autosomal dominant disorder. Multiple Odontogenic Keratocysts (OKCs) are principle features of nevoid basal cell carcinoma syndrome (NBCCS; Gorlin-Goltz syndrome). However, a case of multiple odontogenic keratocysts unassociated with any syndrome is reported here so as to add to the growing number of such cases in the literature. The possibility of this case being a partial expression of the Gorlin-Goltz syndrome is discussed.

RESUMO

This case reports a unique presentation of two different clinical entities amidst few similarities and differences. Usually, aggressive periodontitis and gingival fibromatosis occur independently. Their simultaneous occurrence is rarely found. This report deals with the clinical features and management aspect of such a case.

RESUMO

This case reports a rare condition of scurvy which posed a diagnostic difficulty. However, a thorough medical and diet history, along with clinical and histopathological examination aided in prompt diagnosis and successful management of the case. Occurrence of scurvy in today's contemporary society is said to be rare. Lack of fresh fruits and vegetables in the diet can lead to this condition. Diagnosis may be difficult due to its rarity and presence of non specific symptoms, which may pose a challenge to the clinician. A comprehensive history, clinical examination along with clinical and histopathological features led to arrive at a proper diagnosis. Local procedures and systemic therapy aided in the successful management of the case. A marked improvement in the gingival status and in the physical well being of the patient resulted after treatment. This case report describes the various manifestations of scurvy that posed a diagnostic challenge to the clinician. This condition which can be fatal if untreated can be easily prevented with inclusion of healthy food in the diet and modification in the lifestyle.

RESUMO

A 65 year old female with recent inferior wall MI underwent an intravenous streptokinase infusion in an attempt to re-establish coronary reperfusion. Although the cardiac catheterization and streptokinase infusion were technically uncomplicated, an intraoral hematoma was found in the buccal mucosal oral cavity three hours following the procedure. The case was successfully managed with local therapy.
