RESUMO

The traditional optical detection method has a limitation in detecting closed cracks in optical elements. In this Letter, a novel, to the best of our knowledge, method has been developed for the detection of closed cracks in transparent samples. Firstly, behaviors of closed cracks under ultrasonic waves loading are demonstrated through the finite-element method (FEM). Simulation results show that the crack can be opened by the laser ultrasonic shear wave (S-wave). Then, a Mach-Zehnder interferometer system is experimentally established to detect closed cracks under ultrasonic waves loading in the sample. It is demonstrated that closed cracks which cannot be detected by interferometry become visible in interferogram images under ultrasonic waves loading. The width of the opened crack can also be quantitatively estimated. Thus the method would be a promising approach to detect initially closed cracks in optical elements.

RESUMO

A new series of cyclopropane-1,1-dicarboxylic (CPD) acid analogues were designed and synthesized. CPD is an inhibitor of ketol-acid reductoisomerase (KARI), an enzyme of the branched chain amino acid pathway in plants. The structures of CPD analogues were characterized by 1H NMR and HRMS. The structure of N,N'-bis(4-(tert-butyl)phenyl)cyclopropane-1,1-dicarboxamide was further elucidated by X-ray diffraction. The herbicidal activities of these compounds were tested against lettuce (Lactuca sativa) and bentgrass (Agrostis stolonifera). Most of these compounds exhibited low herbicidal activity against both plant species. Among them, N,N'-bis(2-ethylphenyl)cyclopropane-1,1-dicarboxamide displayed moderate activity against bentgrass. Inhibition of KARI activity by the CPD analogues was also assessed experimentally and by molecular docking simulation with results supporting inhibition of KARI as their mode of action. These results provide the basis for design of more effective KARI inhibitors.

RESUMO

A series of novel chiral fluorinated pyrazole carboxamides derivatives were designed and synthesized. All these title compounds were confirmed by NMR and MS. The primarily nematocidal activity results indicated that some of them exhibited good control efficacy against the tomato root-knot nematode disease caused by Meloidogyne incognita. The docking results indicated that compound 5n interact with amino acid residue Tyr 121, Trp 279 of AchE via hydrogen bond.

RESUMO

In order to investigate the influence of target materials, including aluminum (Al), titanium (Ti) and copper (Cu), on underwater laser propulsion, the analytical formula of the target momentum IT is deduced from the enhanced coupling theory of laser propulsion in atmosphere with transparent overlay metal target. The high-speed photography method and numerical simulation are employed to verify the IT model. It is shown that the enhanced coupling theory, which was developed originally for laser propulsion in atmosphere, is also applicable to underwater laser propulsion with metal targets.

RESUMO

Different from the traditional frequency-mixing technique which employs a contacting transducer, the laser-induced acoustic nonlinear frequency-mixing detection technique utilizes a laser source to instigate crack motion and generate acoustic waves. Thus, apart from the temperature oscillation induced by the pump laser, the "basic temperature" originating from the probe laser can also influence the crack. This additional variable complicates the contact state of the crack, yielding a more diverse range of nonlinear acoustic signal attributes. In light of this, our study enhances the conventional opto-acoustic nonlinear frequency mixing experimental setup by integrating an independent heating laser beam. This modification isolates the impact of the "basic temperature" on crack width while also dialing down the probe laser power to mitigate its thermal effects. To amplify the sensitivity of crack detection, we deliberated on the optimal laser source parameters for this setup. Consequently, our revamped system, paired with fine-tuned parameters, captures nonlinear acoustic signals with an enriched feature set. This investigation can provide support for the non-contact opto-acoustic nonlinear frequency mixing technique in the detection and evaluation of micro-cracks.

RESUMO

Photo-thermal modulation-based nonlinear opto-acoustic frequency-mixing technique is an effective method for detecting micro-cracks. When using this technique for micro-crack detection, the selection of laser source parameters is particularly crucial. Compared to traditional piezo-transducer-based mixing techniques, the characteristic of using a laser as the detection source is the presence of thermal effects. The thermal effect caused by laser irradiation on the sample surface can not only generate acoustic waves but also affect the crack state, thus influencing nonlinear signals. In this paper, an experimental setup using photo-thermal modulation-based nonlinear opto-acoustic frequency-mixing technique has been set up to investigate the thermal effects of the probe laser source. In addition, a corresponding physical model has been established to discuss the physical mechanisms revealed by the experimental results. This study provides a basis for selecting appropriate probe source parameters and scanning positions of laser sources when detecting micro-cracks using the photo-thermal modulation-based nonlinear opto-acoustic frequency-mixing technique.

RESUMO

We captured stable self-oscillations of a toroidal bubble moving away from a laser propelled cavity object in water using a high-speed imaging system. The entire laser propelling process generates a hemispherical bubble, two toroidal bubbles, and a microbubble cluster. The hemispherical bubble is formed by laser breakdown in water. The toroidal bubbles are formed by the variation of the pressure field as a result of the propagation, reflection, and convergence of the laser plasma shockwave in the cavity.

RESUMO

Phase velocity of surface acoustic waves(SAWs) is frequency dependent when propagate on medium with inhomogeneous elasticity over depth. In this work, frequency dependent Time-of-Flight (ToF) variation of SAWs induced by a local and dynamic heating was applied for measurement of temperature dependent shear modulus. Laser-generated broad-band SAWs propagated through the material with elastic properties and density modified by dynamic inhomogeneous temperature field induced by a millisecond laser heating. Sample with spatial dependent material properties introduces phase velocity dispersion in the SAW propagation. As consequence, ToF of SAW becomes frequency dependent. Frequency dependent ToF variation curves at two time instants respected to laser heating were measured by time-frequency analysis together with a differential technique. Free fitted parameters, temperature dependent shear modulus and surface temperature distribution were evaluated by solving the inverse problem by fitting the experimental ToF variation curves into the theoretical ones by means of the differential evolution method. The inversed temperature dependent parameter of shear modulus of Ti-6Al-4V alloy was in good agreement with literature value.

RESUMO

The influence of the elastic modulus of a tumor (EMT) on the laser-generated thermoelastic force source and ultrasound waves are investigated by using the finite element method. Taking into account the effects of thermal diffusion, optical penetration, and finite duration of laser pulse, the transient temperature distribution is obtained. Applying this temperature field to structure analyses as thermal loading, the thermoelastic stress field and laser-induced ultrasound wave in soft tissues are obtained. The results show that there is a linear correlation between the maximum compressive stress and the elastic modulus of tissues. It is also shown that the features and frequency regions of the laser-induced ultrasound waveform have a close relationship with the EMT, which has been further verified by a corresponding experiment.

RESUMO

All-optical monitoring of the nonlinear motion of a surface-breaking crack is reported. Crack closing is induced by quasi-continuous laser heating, while Rayleigh surface acoustic pulses and bulk longitudinal surface skimming acoustic pulses are also generated and detected by lasers. By exploiting the strong dependence of the acoustic pulses reflection and transmission efficiency on the state-open or closed-of the contacts between the crack faces, the parametric modulation of ultrasonic pulses is achieved. It is observed that bulk acoustic waves skimming along the surface can be more sensitive to crack motion than Rayleigh surface waves.

RESUMO

Aromatase is a key enzyme responsible for in vivo estrogen biosynthesis. Inhibition of the activity of the aromatase has become an alterative way for treatment of breast cancer. In this review, the structure and catalytic mechanism of the aromatase is briefly introduced followed by thorough review of the progress in the study of the steroidal and non-steroidal aromatase inhibitors. This review is focused on the natural compounds that exhibit the aromatase inhibition, which include flavonoids, xanthones, coumarins, and sesquiterpenes. The structure-activity relationship of these compounds is also discussed.

RESUMO

The Synthetic Aperture Focusing Technique (SAFT) is an imaging algorithm used in laser ultrasonics (LU) to visualise the appearance of defects. However, ultrasound excited by a pulsed laser has the characteristics of wide bandwidth and multi-mode directivity patterns, leading to common problems in the SAFT process, such as low utilisation of ultrasound information and possible artefacts. To solve these problems, a Multi-mode Time-domain SAFT (MMT-SAFT) algorithm is proposed in this paper. The influence of ultrasonic directivity is discussed according to the imaging depth range, and imaging with multiple LU modes is performed to reduce artefacts. Simulations and experimental results prove the feasibility of the MMT-SAFT algorithm, which not only presents a clearer image of the upper part of defects but also improves image quality compared with time-domain SAFT using a single ultrasonic mode. The proposed technique can provide feasible directions for laser ultrasonic defect imaging.

RESUMO

We are considering a new COVID-19 model with an optimal control analysis when vaccination is present. Firstly, we formulate the vaccine-free model and present the associated mathematical results involved. Stability results for R 0 < 1 are shown. In addition, we frame the model with the vaccination class. We look at the mathematical results with the details of the vaccine model. Additionally, we are considering setting controls to minimize infection spread and control. We consider four different controls, such as prevention, vaccination control, rapid screening of people in the exposed category, and people who are identified as infected without screening. Using the suggested controls, we develop an optimal control model and derive mathematical results from it. In addition, the mathematical model with control and without control is resolved by the forward-backward Runge-Kutta method and presents the results graphically. The results obtained through optimal control suggest that controls can be useful for minimizing infected individuals and improving population health.

RESUMO

The Laser Ultrasonic (LU) technique has been widely studied. Detected ultrasonic signals can be further processed using Synthetic Aperture Focusing Techniques (SAFTs), to detect and image internal defects. LU-based SAFT in frequency-domain (F-SAFT) is developed to visualize horizontal hole-type defects in aluminum. Bulk acoustic waves are non-destructively generated by irradiating a laser line-source, and detected using a laser Doppler vibrometer at a point away from the generation. The influence of this non-coincident generation-detection on the equivalent acoustic velocity used in the algorithm is studied via velocity mappings. Because the wide-band generation characteristic of the LU technique, frequency range selections in acoustic wave signals are implemented to increase Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR) and reconstruction speed. Results indicate that by using the LU F-SAFT algorithm, and incorporating optimizations such as velocity mapping and frequency range selection, small defects can be visualized in 3D with corrected locations and improved image quality.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: 4-Hydroxyphenylpyruvate dioxygenase (HPPD, EC 1.13.11.27) has been a good target for herbicide discovery. In order to discover novel HPPD herbicides, a series of pyrazole aromatic ketone analogs were designed and synthesized. RESULTS: The 25 pyrazole aromatic ketone analogs synthesized were tested for herbicidal activity and compounds A1, A3, A4, A17, A20 and A25 displayed excellent herbicidal activity against Chenopodium serotinum, Stellaria media and Brassica juncea at 37.5 g ha-1 . In addition, compounds A1, A5, A9, A10, A16, A17, A20 and A25 exhibited good crop selectivity for wheat, maize and rice at 150 g ha-1 . Inhibition activities against AtHPPD proved the compounds were HPPD inhibitors. The structure-activity relationship of these pyrazole aromatic ketone analogs was studied using molecular docking. CONCLUSION: These pyrazole aromatic ketone derivatives could be used as lead structures for development of HPPD herbicides against dicotyledonous weeds with further structure modification. © 2019 Society of Chemical Industry.

RESUMO

For the low content and weak fluorescence intensity, usually presenting shoulder peaks, it is often hard to locate protoporphyrin IX and identify its fluorescence intensity in human blood serum. Biorthogonal spline wavelet may work for the identification of its weak signal Superimposing protoporphyrin IX fluorescence signal on the background of blood serum spectrum, a series of varied fluorescence spectra of them can be obtained. The protoporphyrin IX fluorescence signal from blood serum background is separated and the fluorescence spectrum can be divided into corresponding discrete approximate signals (a1-a7) and discrete details signals (d1-d7) by biorthogonal spline wavelet bior 5.5 seven levels decomposition. The signal frequency shows a gradual decrease with increasing decomposition. Protoporphyrin IX fluorescence peak emerges when it comes to the 7th decomposition. The signal peak shifts about 2.5 mm downwards as the signal intensity decreases, whereas the signal peak from wavelet filter remains where it was. As the synchronization disappears between signal intensity and signal peak, usually it is hard to assure the fluorescence intensity and peak location. However, signal from wavelet filter may ignore the affect and identify the protoporphyrin IX in human blood serum with the help of biorthogonal spline wavelet. As the linear alternation of wavelet and discrete details signals maintain their inborn linear relations, the authors can carry out the qualitative and quantitative analysis for the precise content and quantity of protoporphyrin IX in blood serum, which provides a feasible method for the application of blood serum fluorescence spectrum to tumor early diagnosis.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the vascular activity of extract from mulberry leaves (EML) on rat thoracic aorta and the underlying mechanism. METHODS: Isolated thoracic rings of Sprague-Dawley rats were mounted on the organ bath and the tension of the vessel was recorded. RESULT: (1) EML produced a concentration-dependent vasorelaxation of aorta preconstricted by high K(+) (60 mmol/L) or 10(-6) mol/L phenylephrine (PE) in endothelium-intact and endothelium-denuded arteries. (2) EML at EC(50) concentration reduced the calcium dose-response curve. (3) After incubation of aorta with verapamil, EML induced vasocontraction of aorta preconstricted by PE, which was abolished by ruthenium red. CONCLUSION: The vascular effect of EML is biphasic, the vasorelaxation is greater than the vasocontraction. The vasorelaxation induced by EML may be mediated by inhibition of voltage-and receptor-dependent calcium channels in vascular smooth muscle cells, while the vasocontraction is via activation of ryanodine receptor in endoplasmic reticulum.

RESUMO

Protoporphyrin IX is an important kind of organic compound for vital movement, and can be used as the sign of tumour blood. Human protoporphyrin IX content in serum is very low, and affected by various factors. The serum fluorescence spectrum analysis system based on wavelet transform was used to discriminated the protoporphyrin IX weak signals. The protoporphyrin IX fluorescence spectrum was obtained by a multi-function spectrum measuring system, and decomposed several times by wavelet transform to distinguish the noise and spectrum signals. The fluorescence spectrum can be divided into corresponding discrete approximations signals (a1-a6) and discrete details signals (d1-d6) by six times of decomposition, showing the signal frequency decreasing with decomposition times increasing and the protoporphyrin IX fluorescence character peak appears here. The weak signals were discriminated and the exactly component and quantity can be acquired for further analysis. So it can be analysed quantitatively. The researches in the present paper provide the potential application in the diagnosis of incipient tumous using the serum fluorescence spectrum

RESUMO

A series of novel difluoromethylpyrazole carboxamides derivatives were synthesized by introduction of flexible alkyl chain. Nematicidal bioassay results showed that some of them exhibited good control efficacy against M. incognita, which indicated that these difluoromethylpyrazole carboxamides derivatives might be potential novel lead compounds for discovery new nematicides. The nematicidal activity was affected by the substituted position in the molecule, especially the substitution group on the alkyl chain. It was found that the compound 6-9 and 6-23 possess about 50% inhibition effect against M. incognita even at 5.0 and 1.0 mg L-1. Meanwhile, greenhouse field trial showed the nematicidal activity of compound 6-9 is a litter weaker than that of Abamectin. The mammalian toxicology results indicated that compound 6-9 was a low-toxicity and low-sensitive compound. In conclusion compound 6-9 is a potential candidate for further development. In addition, the molecular docking simulations revealed that compounds 6 with a flexible NHCOO show its binding affinities for the acetylcholine receptor (AChR), which may provide useful information for further design novel nematicides.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Quinoline derivatives possess excellent fungicidal activity against rice blast, but quinoline derivatives have not been thoroughly explored as fungicides. In the process of designing new fungicides, the 1,1,1,2,3,3,3-heptafluoropropan-2-yl group was introduced in order to find new structure quinoline derivatives. RESULTS: Seventeen new quinoline derivatives containing 1,1,1,2,3,3,3-heptafluoropropan-2-yl moiety were designed and synthesised. In vivo fungicidal activities of these compounds were tested against rice blast. Some of the compounds provided effective control at 100 mg L-1 , and a few compounds were effective at 10 mg L-1 . Furthermore, a density functional theory study established the structure-activity relationships of the synthesised compounds. CONCLUSION: Quinoline derivatives, especially benzyl (2,3,8-trimethyl-6-(perfluoropropan-2-yl)quinolin-4-yl) carbonate, which possess good control effective against rice blast and cucumber powdery mildew, may become new lead compounds for the development of fungicides with further structure modification. © 2017 Society of Chemical Industry.
