The pancreas is a heterocrine gland that has both exocrine and endocrine parts. Most pancreatic cancer begins in the cells that line the ducts of the pancreas and is called pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC). PDAC is the most encountered pancreatic cancer type. One of the most important characteristic features of PDAC is neuropathy which is primarily due to perineural invasion (PNI). PNI develops tumor microenvironment which includes overexpression of fibroblasts cells, macrophages, as well as angiogenesis which can be responsible for neuropathy pain. In tumor microenvironment inactive fibroblasts are converted into an active form that is cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs). Neurotrophins they also increase the level of Substance P, calcitonin gene-related peptide which is also involved in pain. Matrix metalloproteases are the zinc-associated proteases enzymes which activates proinflammatory interleukin-1ß into its activated form and are responsible for release and activation of Substance P which is responsible for neuropathic pain by transmitting pain signal via dorsal root ganglion. All the molecules and their role in being responsible for neuropathic pain are described below.

The given investigation examined the neuroprotection role of 5-HT1b/1d agonist in reserpine induced Parkinson's disease (PD) in male Wistar rats. PD was induced in rats by reserpine at 5 mg/kg ip for 3 days and thereafter the rats were provided with the following treatments for 4 days, zolmitriptan (ZLM) group (30 mg/kg ip); STD group (levodopa + carbidopa, 200 + 5 mg/kg ip); ZLM + GA group (zolmitriptan, 30 mg/kg ip and glutamic acid, 1.5 mg/kg); ZLM + DX group (zolmitriptan, 30 mg/kg ip and dextromethorphan, 20 mg/kg ip). All the groups were then assessed for cognitive and motor functions at the end of the protocol. Moreover, oxidative stress parameters and histopathological changes were observed in rats of all treatment groups. Deposition of α-synuclein in the brain tissue was observed by silver staining. Data of this investigation revealed that motor and cognitive functions were improved in the ZLM-treated group compared with the negative control group, which was observed to be reversed in ZLM + GA group. Treatment with ZLM ameliorated oxidative stress and histopathological changes in the brain tissue of PD rats. Further, ZLM reduced the deposition of α-synuclein in PD rats, which reversed in ZLM + GA-treated group. This study concludes by stating that 5-HT1b/1d agonist can prevent neurodegeneration and reduce oxidative stress in PD rats. The probable underlying mechanism of such an effect of 5-HT1b/1d agonist could be by regulating the deposition of α-synuclein and reducing the expression of NMDA receptor.

Sepsis is a systemic infection affects several organs, which needs novel therapy for the management of it, thus protective effect of Rhoifolin was estimated against sepsis. Cecal ligation and puncture (CLP) method was used to induce sepsis and thereafter mice were treated with rhoifolin (20 and 40 mg/kg, i.p.) for one week. Food intake and survival rate was determined sepsis mice, moreover liver function test and cytokines was estimated in the serum of sepsis mice. In the lung tissue homogenate, oxidative stress parameters were determined, histopathological analysis was performed in liver and lung tissue of sepsis mice. Food intake and percentage of survival was improved in rhoifolin treated group than sham group. Level of liver function enzyme and cytokine was reduced significantly in the serum of rhoifolin treated sepsis mice. Treatment with rhoifolin ameliorates the altered oxidative stress parameters, and mRNA expression of Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR-4) in lung tissue of sepsis mice. Histopathological changes were also reverse in rhoifolin treated group than sham group of mice. In conclusion, result of report indicates Rhoifolin treatment reduces oxidative stress and inflammation in CLP induced sepsis mice, as it regulates TLR4/MyD88/NF-κB pathway.

Present investigation evaluates the protective effect of vanillin against sepsis. Sepsis was induced by cecal ligation and puncture (CLP) in rat and vanillin was administered at dose of 100 and 200 mg/kg p.o. for five days after induction of sepsis. Effect of vanillin was observed on the percentage of survival, body weight and food intake were determined in CLP induced sepsis rats. Level of liver enzymes in the serum and organ weight was also observed in vanillin treated CLP induced rats. Moreover, histopathological changes were also observed in liver and lung tissue of hematoxylin and eosin (H&E) staining. There was significant improvement in bodyweight and food intake in vanillin treated group than negative control group after the sepsis induction. Moreover, vanillin improves the percentage of survival rate and reduces the level of liver enzymes and spleen weight in CLP induced sepsis rat. It also improves the level of glutathione (GSH) compared to negative control group. In conclusion, data of investigation reveals that vanillin ameliorates the survival rate and oxidative stress in CLP induced sepsis rat model.

Diabetes is a metabolic disorder associated with various complications, including periodontitis. The risk of periodontitis is increased in patients with diabetes, while vitamin D deficiency is associated with both diabetes and periodontitis. Thus, there is a need to identify the molecular effects of vitamin D on the regulation of inflammation and glucose in diabetes-associated periodontitis. The Web of Science, Scopus, and PubMed databases were searched for studies of the molecular effects of vitamin D. Molecular effects were reportedly mediated by salivary secretions, interactions of advanced glycation end products (AGEs) with receptors of AGEs (RAGEs), cytokines, and oxidative stress pathways linking diabetes with periodontitis. Vitamin D supplementation attenuates inflammation in diabetes-associated periodontitis by reducing the levels of inflammatory cytokines and numbers of immune cells; it also has antibacterial effects. Vitamin D reduces cytokine levels through regulation of the extracellular signal-related kinase 1/2 and Toll-like receptor 1/2 pathways, along with the suppression of interleukin expression. Glucose homeostasis is altered in diabetes either because of reduced insulin production or decreased insulin sensitivity. These vitamin D-related alterations of glucoregulatory factors may contribute to hyperglycaemia; hyperglycaemia may also lead to alterations of glucoregulatory factors. This review discusses the pathways involved in glucose regulation and effects of vitamin D supplementation on glucose regulation. Further studies are needed to characterise the effects of vitamin D on diabetes-associated periodontitis.

Spinal cord injury (SCI) is commonly associated with neuropathic pain, which affects large population. Thus, the presented investigation evaluates the beneficial effect of epifriedelinol against SCI-associated neuropathic pain. SCI injury was induced in rats by clip-compression and rats were treated with epifriedelinol 100 and 200 mg/kg, i.p. for 21 days after the induction of SCI. The effect of epifriedelinol was assessed on neuropathic pain by mechanical allodynia and locomotor function. Level of inflammatory cytokines were assessed in the neuronal tissue using enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) and expression of caspase-3 and Bcl2 protein were assessed by western blot assay. Data of investigation reveals that epifriedelinol reduces mechanical allodynia in SCI injured rats. Moreover, it also improves locomotor function in SCI injured rats. There was significant decrease in level of interleukin (IL)-1ß, IL-6 and tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α in the neuronal tissues of epifriedelinol-treated group than negative control group. Moreover, treatment with epifriedelinol ameliorates the altered expression of caspase 3, Bcl2 and GluN1 and level of glutamate in neuronal tissue of SCI-injured rats. In conclusion, data reveal that epifriedelinol treatment protects neuropathic pain associated with spinal cord injury by downregulating the N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) receptor function.

PURPOSE: To assess the effect of Amorphophallus campanulatus tuber (Ac) extract in the protection of diabetic nephropathy in streptozotocin (STZ) induced diabetic nephropathy (DN) rat model. METHODS: Diabetes was induced with STZ (60 mg/kg, i.p.), and DN was confirmed after six weeks of STZ administration with the estimation of kidney function test. Further rats were treated with Ac 250 and 500 mg/kg p.o. for next four week. Oxidative stress and level of inflammatory cytokines were estimated in the kidney tissue of DN rats. Histopathology of kidney tissue was performed using hematoxylin and eosin staining. RESULTS: There was improvement in the body weight of Ac treated groups than DN group of rats. Blood glucose level was observed to be reduced in Ac treated groups than DN group on 42nd and 70th day of protocol. Treatment with Ac ameliorated the altered level of kidney function tests (creatinine and BUN), enzymes of liver function (aspartate aminotransferase and alanine aminotransferase), and lipid profile in the serum of DN rats. Oxidative stress parameters (malondialdehyde and reactive oxygen species enhances and reduction in the level of glutathione and superoxide dismutase) and inflammatory cytokines such as interleukin-6, tumour necrosis factor-α, and monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 reduces in the tissue of Ac treated group than DN group. Treatment with Ac also attenuates the altered histopathological changes in the kidney tissue of DN rats. CONCLUSIONS: The report suggests that Ac protects renal injury in DN rats by regulating inflammatory cytokines and oxidative stress.

Diabetes mellitus is a disorder characterised metabolic dysfunction that results in elevated glucose level in the bloodstream. Diabetes is of two types, type1 and type 2 diabetes. Obesity is considered as one of the major reasons intended for incidence of diabetes hence it turns out to be essential to study about the adipose tissue which is responsible for fat storage in body. Adipose tissues play significant role in maintaining the balance between energy stabilization and homeostasis. The three forms of adipose tissue are - White adipose tissue (WAT), Brown adipose tissue (BAT) and Beige adipose tissue (intermediate form). The amount of BAT gets reduced, and WAT starts to increase with the age. WAT when exposed to certain stimuli gets converted to BAT by the help of certain transcriptional regulators. The browning of WAT has been a matter of study to treat the metabolic disorders and to initiate the expenditure of energy. The three main regulators responsible for the browning of WAT are PRDM16, PPARγ and PGC-1α via various cellular and molecular mechanism. Presented review article includes the detailed elaborative aspect of genes and proteins involved in conversion of WAT to BAT.

PURPOSE: Patients have been severely suffered from cancer associated pain, and pancreatic cancer is the most severe form of cancer associated with pain. There are very few options available to manage it. The present report evaluated the effect of 5HT2A on pancreatic cancer associated pain. METHODS: Pancreatic cancer was induced by injecting SW 1,990 cells (~3×106 in a 20 µL suspension) into the pancreas and formed a 2-3-mm vesicle using an inoculator fitted with a 26-gauge needle in BALB/c-nu mice. Survival rate and body weight of the mice were observed. Pain behaviour testing was performed at the end of each week (third and fourth week) after surgery. Inflammatory mediators and HDAC 2 proteins were determined in the spinal tissue using quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction. RESULTS: There was improvement in the survival rate and body weight in 5HT2A antagonist treated group than pancreatic cancer group of mice. Moreover, 5HT2A antagonist ameliorated the alteration in pain behaviour of pancreatic cancer mice. mRNA expression of HDAC2 and level of inflammatory cytokines were reduced in the spinal tissue of 5HT 2A antagonist treated group than pancreatic cancer group of mice. CONCLUSIONS: Data revealed that 5HT2A antagonist ameliorates pain associated with pancreatic cancer mice by HDAC inhibition and inflammatory cytokines. The result of investigation supports that modulation of 5HT2A receptor could be used clinically to protects neuropathic pain in pancreatic cancer.

Biomaterials play a vital role in targeting therapeutics. Over the years, several biomaterials have gained wide attention in the treatment and diagnosis of diseases. Scientists are trying to make more personalized treatments for different diseases, as well as discovering novel single agents that can be used for prognosis, medication administration, and keeping track of how a treatment works. Theranostics based on nano-biomaterials have higher sensitivity and specificity for disease management than conventional techniques. This review provides a concise overview of various biomaterials, including carbon-based materials like fullerenes, graphene, carbon nanotubes (CNTs), and carbon nanofibers, and their involvement in theranostics of different diseases. In addition, the involvement of imaging techniques for theranostics applications was overviewed. Theranostics is an emerging strategy that has great potential for enhancing the accuracy and efficacy of medicinal interventions. Despite the presence of obstacles such as disease heterogeneity, toxicity, reproducibility, uniformity, upscaling production, and regulatory hurdles, the field of medical research and development has great promise due to its ability to provide patients with personalised care, facilitate early identification, and enable focused treatment.

Biomaterials are widely used for various medical purposes, for instance, implants, tissue engineering, medical devices, and drug delivery systems. Natural biomaterials can be obtained from proteins, carbohydrates, and cell-specific sources. However, when these biomaterials are introduced into the body, they trigger an immune response which may lead to rejection and failure of the implanted device or tissue. The immune system recognizes natural biomaterials as foreign substances and triggers the activation of several immune cells, for instance, macrophages, dendritic cells, and T cells. These cells release pro-inflammatory cytokines and chemokines, which recruit other immune cells to the implantation site. The activation of the immune system can lead to an inflammatory response, which can be beneficial or detrimental, depending on the type of natural biomaterial and the extent of the immune response. These biomaterials can also influence the immune response by modulating the behavior of immune cells. For example, biomaterials with specific surface properties, such as charge and hydrophobicity, can affect the activation and differentiation of immune cells. Additionally, biomaterials can be engineered to release immunomodulatory factors, such as anti-inflammatory cytokines, to promote a tolerogenic immune response. In conclusion, the interaction between biomaterials and the body's immune system is an intricate procedure with potential consequences for the effectiveness of therapeutics and medical devices. A better understanding of this interplay can help to design biomaterials that promote favorable immune responses and minimize adverse reactions.

OBJECTIVES: Present report evaluates the protective effect of geraniol on high fat diet (HFD) induced obesity in rats and also determines the molecular mechanism of it. METHODS: Rats were induced with obesity with administration of HFD for four weeks and geraniol 200 and 400 mg/kg p.o. was administered for the next four week in the respective groups. Blood glucose and oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT), lipid profile was estimated in the geraniol treated HFD induced obesity in rats. Moreover, docking study was performed to determine the specific mechanism of geraniol by targeting HMG-CoE A reductase (in silico). RESULTS: There was significant increase in body weight and amelioration in altered serum glucose and lipid profile were observed in the geraniol treated group than negative control group. Weight of organs and adipose tissue isolated from different regions of the body was reduced in geraniol treated group than negative control. Moreover, geraniol interact with HMG-CoA reductase having binding energy -5.13. CONCLUSIONS: In conclusion, data of the report reveals that geraniol reduces obesity by promoting the conversion of white adipose tissue (WAT) to brown adipose tissue (BAT), as it interacts with HMG-CoA reductase in HFD induced obesity in rats.

Present investigation evaluates the protective effect of Celastrus paniculatus (CP) on the cognitive function in neuronal injured mice. Neuronal injury was induced by oral administration of monosodium glutamate (MSG) at a dose of 1.66 g/kg/day for 30 days. Mice in the CP-treated group receives CP 30 mg/kg ip and CP + GGA-treated group received CP 30 mg/kg ip and glutamic acid (GGA, 1.5 mg/kg, ip) 30 min prior to the administration of MSG for 30 days. Assessment of cognitive function was done using Morris water maze. Level of inflammatory cytokines and production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) was estimated in the brain tissue of brain-injured mice. Moreover, intracellular concentration of Ca+ ion was estimated in the brain tissue and expression of Bcl-2, Bax, and caspase-3 protein was estimated in the brain tissue by western blot assay. Cognitive function was attenuated in CP-treated glutamate-injured mice. Data of the study suggest that treatment with CP reduces the level of inflammatory cytokines and production of ROS in the brain tissue compared to negative control group. There was reduction in the concentration of Ca+ ion in the neuronal cells in CP-treated group than negative control group of mice. Treatment with CP ameliorates the expression of Bax, Bcl-2, and caspase-3 in the brain tissue of glutamate-induced brain-injured mice. In conclusion, data of the study suggest that treatment with CP attenuates the cognitive function and neuronal apoptosis in glutamate-induced neuronal injury by reducing the concentration of intracellular Ca+ ion.

For decades, the gut has been thought to play an important role in sepsis pathogenesis. Sepsis is a serious life-threatening, chronic condition of an infection caused by dysregulated host immune response in most of the intensive care unit patients. Probiotics have dual roles in polymicrobial sepsis i.e. probiotics may induce sepsis in many cases and may prevent its prognosis in many cases. Experimental evidence from both pre-clinical and clinical studies have demonstrated that probiotic therapy ameliorates various inflammatory mediators such as tumor necrosis factor, interleukin-10 (IL-10), IL-6, etc., in septicemia. In addition, probiotic use was also found to reduce the severity of pathological conditions associated with irritable bowel disorder and prevent development of endocarditis in septicemia. On contrary, probiotic therapy in neonatal and athymic adult mice fail to provide any beneficial effects on mortality and sepsis-induced inflammation. Importantly, in few clinical trials probiotic use was found to aggravate sepsis by promoting inflammatory cascade rather than suppressing it. This review discusses various studies regarding the beneficial or harmful effects associated with probiotic therapy in sepsis.

OBJECTIVES: This study evaluates the effect of 5-HT 1b/d agonist on cognitive function in scopolamine (SPN)-induced dementia in the rat. METHODS: Dementia was induced by administration of SPN 2 mg/kg/day, intraperitoneally, for a duration of 21 days. The effect of zolmitriptan (ZMT) 30 mg/kg, intraperitoneally, was observed on cognitive function, and the parameters of oxidative stress like malondialdehyde (MDA) level, nitric oxide (NO), superoxide dismutase (SOD) and glutathione peroxidase (GPX) were estimated at the end. Histopathology study of brain tissue was performed for the determination of ß-amyloid peptide, and qRT-PCR was used to determine the mRNA expression of Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR-4), IL-17 and ß-amyloid. KEY FINDINGS: Data of the study suggested that treatment with ZMT alone and in combination with DMP (dextromethorphan) significantly (P < 0.01) decreases the escape latency in conditioned avoidance response (CAR) and transfer latency in elevated plus maze (EPM) as compared with negative control group. Moreover, the result of Morris water maze (MWM) shows an increase in retention time and a decrease in escape latency in ZMT alone and in combination with DMP-treated group of SPN-induced dementia than in the negative control group. There was a significant decrease in MDA and NO and increase in SOD and GPX in the brain tissues of ZMT and ZMT + DMP-treated group than negative control group. Histopathology study also suggested that the concentration of Aß peptide decreases in the brain tissues in ZMT and ZMT + DMP-treated group than the negative control group. Moreover, ZMT treatment ameliorates the altered mRNA expression of TLR-4 and IL-17 in the brain tissue of SPN-induced dementia rat. CONCLUSIONS: In conclusion, ZMT restores the cognitive functions and impaired memory in SPN-induced dementia in the rat by decreasing oxidative stress and Aß peptide in the brain tissue of rat.

ABSTRACT Purpose: To assess the effect of Amorphophallus campanulatus tuber (Ac) extract in the protection of diabetic nephropathy in streptozotocin (STZ) induced diabetic nephropathy (DN) rat model. Methods: Diabetes was induced with STZ (60 mg/kg, i.p.), and DN was confirmed after six weeks of STZ administration with the estimation of kidney function test. Further rats were treated with Ac 250 and 500 mg/kg p.o. for next four week. Oxidative stress and level of inflammatory cytokines were estimated in the kidney tissue of DN rats. Histopathology of kidney tissue was performed using hematoxylin and eosin staining. Results: There was improvement in the body weight of Ac treated groups than DN group of rats. Blood glucose level was observed to be reduced in Ac treated groups than DN group on 42nd and 70th day of protocol. Treatment with Ac ameliorated the altered level of kidney function tests (creatinine and BUN), enzymes of liver function (aspartate aminotransferase and alanine aminotransferase), and lipid profile in the serum of DN rats. Oxidative stress parameters (malondialdehyde and reactive oxygen species enhances and reduction in the level of glutathione and superoxide dismutase) and inflammatory cytokines such as interleukin-6, tumour necrosis factor-α, and monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 reduces in the tissue of Ac treated group than DN group. Treatment with Ac also attenuates the altered histopathological changes in the kidney tissue of DN rats. Conclusions: The report suggests that Ac protects renal injury in DN rats by regulating inflammatory cytokines and oxidative stress.

Purpose Patients have been severely suffered from cancer associated pain, and pancreatic cancer is the most severe form of cancer associated with pain. There are very few options available to manage it. The present report evaluated the effect of 5HT2A on pancreatic cancer associated pain. Methods Pancreatic cancer was induced by injecting SW 1,990 cells (~3×106 in a 20 µL suspension) into the pancreas and formed a 2­3-mm vesicle using an inoculator fitted with a 26-gauge needle in BALB/c-nu mice. Survival rate and body weight of the mice were observed. Pain behaviour testing was performed at the end of each week (third and fourth week) after surgery. Inflammatory mediators and HDAC 2 proteins were determined in the spinal tissue using quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction. Results There was improvement in the survival rate and body weight in 5HT2A antagonist treated group than pancreatic cancer group of mice. Moreover, 5HT2A antagonist ameliorated the alteration in pain behaviour of pancreatic cancer mice. mRNA expression of HDAC2 and level of inflammatory cytokines were reduced in the spinal tissue of 5HT 2A antagonist treated group than pancreatic cancer group of mice. Conclusions Data revealed that 5HT2A antagonist ameliorates pain associated with pancreatic cancer mice by HDAC inhibition and inflammatory cytokines. The result of investigation supports that modulation of 5HT2A receptor could be used clinically to protects neuropathic pain in pancreatic cancer.

BACKGROUND: The present study evaluates the possible mechanism of sildenafil citrate (SIL) for the attenuation of renal failure in diabetic nephropathic (DN) animals. METHODS: Diabetic nephropathy was induced by a single dose of streptozotocin (STZ) (60 mg/kg, i.p.) and confirmed by assessing the blood and urine biochemical parameters on the 28th day of its induction. The selected DN animals were treated with glimepiride (0.5 mg/kg, p.o.) and SIL (2.5 mg/kg, p.o.) for a period of 6 weeks. Biochemical parameters in blood and urine were estimated after the 29th and 70th day of the protocol for the estimation of the effect of SIL. RESULT: There were significant alterations in the blood and urine biochemical parameters in STZ-treated groups which confirmed DN. There was a significant decrease in the triglyceride level in the SIL-only-treated group on the 70th day of the protocol. The histopathology study also suggested that SIL treatment results in the improvement in the podocyte count in DN animals. CONCLUSIONS: The present study concludes that SIL improves the renal function by decreasing the triglyceride level and improving the podocyte count in DN animals.

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the effect of Musa sapientum L. (MS) bark juice in diabetic gastroparesis and its effect on pharmacokinetic of metformin (MET). METHODS: Diabetes was induced in rats by administering alloxan (120 mg/kg) saline solution and maintained for 8 week. All the 18 Sprague-Dawley rats were divided into three groups (n =6 in each group): normal control, diabetic control and MS bark juice. Assessment of diabetes was done by glucose oxidase-peroxidase method on the 3rd day of alloxan administration. The effects of MS bark juice (100 mL/kg) on gastric emptying time, intestinal transit time, contractility of fundus and pylorus as well as gastric acid secretion in chronic diabetic rats were observed after 8 weeks of alloxan administration. The effect of MS bark juice on the pharmacokinetic of orally administered single dose of MET (350 mg/kg) was evaluated on the 57th day of protocol. Any drugs that may reduce the blood glucose level or influence the fibrinolytic system were not used in this study. RESULTS: The MS bark juice significantly reduced the blood glucose level in the diabetic rats (P<0.01). There was significant decrease in the pylorus motility and increase in the gastric emptying time, intestinal transit time, contractility of fundus, gastric acid secretion in the MS bark juice treated group (P<0.01). There was significant decrease in the time at which drug at a maximum concentration, half life of drug and increase in the maximum concentration of drug in the plasma of MET in MS bark juice treated group as compared to diabetic control group (P<0.01). CONCLUSION: MS bark juice effectively manages diabetic gastroparesis and thereby improves the bioavailabilty of MET when administered with MS bark juice.

The present study evaluates possible drug interactions between glimepiride (GLIM) and sildenafil citrate (SIL) in streptozotocin (STZ)-induced diabetic nephropathic (DN) animals and also postulates the possible mechanism of interaction based on molecular modeling studies. Diabetic nephropathy was induced by single dose of STZ (60 mg kg(-1), i.p.) and was confirmed by assessing blood and urine biochemical parameters 28 days after induction. Selected DN animals were used to explore the drug interaction between GLIM (0.5 mg kg(-1), p.o.) and SIL (2.5 mg kg(-1), p.o.) on the 29th and 70th day of the protocol. Possible drug interaction was assessed by evaluating the plasma drug concentration using HPLC-UV and changes in biochemical parameters in blood and urine were also determined. The mechanism of the interaction was postulated from the results of a molecular modeling study using the Maestro module of Schrodinger software. DN was confirmed as there was significant alteration in blood and urine biochemical parameters in STZ-treated groups. The concentration of SIL increased significantly (P < 0.001) in rat plasma when co-administered with GLIM on the 70th day of the protocol. Molecular modeling revealed important interactions with rat serum albumin and CYP2C9. GLIM has a strong hydrophobic interaction with binding site residues of rat serum albumin compared to SIL, whereas for CYP2C9, GLIM forms a stronger hydrogen bond than SIL with polar contacts and hydrophobic interactions. The present study concludes that bioavailability of SIL increases when co-administered chronically with GLIM in the management of DN animals, and the mechanism is supported by molecular modeling studies.
