RESUMO

PURPOSE: Urodynamic testing (UDS) is an important tool in the management of pediatric lower urinary tract conditions. There have been notable efforts to standardize pediatric UDS nomenclature and technique, but no formal guidelines exist on essential elements to include in a clinical report. We sought to identify ideal structure and elements of a pediatric UDS assessment based on expert consensus. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Pediatric urologists regularly performing UDS were queried using a Delphi process. Participants were invited representing varied geographic, experience, and societal involvement. Participants underwent 3 rounds of questionnaires between November 2022 and August 2023 focusing on report organization, elements, definitions, and automated electronic health record clinical decision support. Professional billing requirements were also considered. Consensus was defined as 80% agreeing either in favor of or against a topic. Elements without consensus were discussed in subsequent rounds. RESULTS: A diverse sample of 30 providers, representing 27 institutions across 21 US states; Washington, District of Columbia; and Canada completed the study. Participants reported interpreting an average number of 5 UDS reports per week (range 1-22). The finalized consensus report identifies 93 elements that should be included in a pediatric UDS report based on applicable study conditions and findings. CONCLUSIONS: This consensus report details the key elements and structure agreed upon by an expert panel of pediatric urologists. Further standardization of documentation should aid collaboration and research for patients undergoing UDS. Based on this information, development of a standardized UDS report template using electronic health record implementation principles is underway, which will be openly available for pediatric urologists.

PURPOSE: Robotic reconstructive and extirpative procedures have been widely utilized for surgical management of various conditions in pediatric urology. Outpatient laparoscopic surgery has become the standard in cases of orchidopexy, inguinal hernia repair and varicocelectomy. There is a growing body of evidence that robotic surgery for more complex conditions can also be performed in an outpatient setting. The aim of the study was to assess the short-term safety and feasibility of robotic reconstructive and extirpative procedures for various pediatric urological conditions as scheduled outpatient procedures. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Demographic information and perioperative data were prospectively collected in an institutional database for all pediatric patients undergoing outpatient robotic surgery from June 2012 to December 2019. Primary outcomes included rates of 30-day complications, emergency room visits and readmissions. RESULTS: A total of 135 pediatric patients underwent robotic procedures in an outpatient setting. The majority underwent pyeloplasty (62) or extravesical ureteral reimplantation (55). Ten patients underwent ureteroureterostomy and 8 patients underwent extirpative procedures (nephrectomy, hemi-nephrectomy). Median age at surgery was 62 months (IQR, 27-99), median weight was 20 kg (IQR, 12-30) and median body mass index was 17 (IQR, 15-18). During the 30-day followup period there were 9 complications (6.7%), of which only 1 (0.7%) was high grade (Clavien-Dindo 3). There were 9 emergency room visits (6.7%) including 5 cases of readmission (3.7%). CONCLUSIONS: Robotic reconstructive and extirpative procedures in pediatric urology can be safely performed as scheduled outpatient procedures in the majority of patients, obviating the need for routine inpatient care.

PURPOSE: We assessed the probability of bladder augmentation/diversion and clean intermittent catheterization in classic bladder exstrophy in a multi-institutional cohort. MATERIALS AND METHODS: We included children born from 1980 to 2016 with bladder exstrophy and treated across 5 centers (exclusion criteria less than 1 year followup after birth, isolated epispadias, bladder exstrophy variants etc). Outcomes were probability of bladder augmentation/diversion after bladder closure and proportion of patients performing clean intermittent catheterization at last followup. Survival analysis was used. RESULTS: Of 216 patients 63.4% were male (median followup 14.4 years). Overall 4 patients (1.9%) underwent primary diversion and 212 underwent primary closure (72.6% in first week of life). After primary closure 50.9% underwent augmentation, 4.7% diversion and 44.8% neither. By age 18 years 88.5% underwent a bladder neck procedure (synchronous augmentation 27.3%). On survival analysis the probability of bladder augmentation/diversion was 14.9% by age 5 years, 50.7% by 10 years and 70.1% by 18 years. Probability of bladder augmentation/diversion varied significantly between centers (p=0.01). Probability of bladder augmentation/diversion was 60.7% 10 years after bladder neck procedure. At last followup of the entire cohort 67.4% performed clean intermittent catheterization. Among 95 patients with intact native bladders 30.5% performed clean intermittent catheterization (channel 72.4%). Among 76 adults without a diversion 85.5% performed clean intermittent catheterization (augmented bladder 100.0% clean intermittent catheterization, native bladder 31.3%). Fifteen patients underwent diversion (continent 8, ureterosigmoidostomy 5, incontinent 2). CONCLUSIONS: On long-term followup probability of bladder augmentation/diversion increased with age, with 1 in 2 patients by age 10 years and the majority in adulthood. Probability of bladder augmentation/diversion differed among institutions. Almost a third of patients, including adults, with a closed native bladder performed clean intermittent catheterization. Considering all adults only 14% did not perform clean intermittent catheterization.

PURPOSE: Reaugmentation cystoplasty rates vary in the literature but have been reported as high as 15%. It is likely that bladders augmented with detubularized and reconfigured bowel are less likely to require reaugmentation. We assessed the incidence of reaugmentation among patients with spina bifida at 2 high volume reconstruction centers. MATERIALS AND METHODS: We retrospectively reviewed medical records of patients with spina bifida who underwent enterocystoplasty before age 21 years (1987 to 2017). Those who did not undergo augmentation with a detubularized and reconfigured bowel segment were excluded from analysis. Data on demographic and surgical variables were collected. Reaugmentation was the main outcome. One analysis was performed using the entire cohort and another analysis was restricted to patients with ileocystoplasty performed in the last 15 years (2002 to 2017). Survival analysis was used. RESULTS: A total of 289 patients were identified. Enterocystoplasty was performed in patients at a median age of 8.1 years (median followup 11.3, IQR 5.2-14.9). Most initial augmentations were performed using ileum (93.4%), followed by sigmoid (6.2%). Seven patients underwent reaugmentation, including 6 with initial augmentation using ileum and 1 with initial augmentation using sigmoid. On survival analysis risk of reaugmentation was 1.1% at 5 years and 3.3% at 10 years after the original surgery. All reaugmentations occurred within the first 9 years of followup. In the more contemporary cohort (162, median followup 7.0 years) only 1 patient underwent reaugmentation at 2.0 years. CONCLUSIONS: The risk of reaugmentation after enterocystoplasty with a detubularized and reconfigured bowel in the spina bifida population is lower than that reported in initial series.

INTRODUCTION: Anuria from end-stage renal disease leads to a defunctionalized bladder and may pose technical challenges at the time of renal transplantation. Anuria's effect on bladder function after renal transplantation is considered to be minimal in adults, although a paucity of evidence is available in children. The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of anuria prior to pediatric renal transplantation for ESRD due to medical renal disease on allograft outcome. METHODS: We performed a retrospective review of pediatric patients who underwent renal transplantation for medical renal disease at our institution between 2005 and 2016. Demographics and clinical data were assessed. We also compared GFR at 1 year post-transplant for medical renal patients with history of anuria and those without. RESULTS: Twenty-one patients fulfilled our inclusion criteria with median duration of anuria was 10 months. Preoperative VCUG was available in five patients and their bladder capacity was 29% of expected bladder capacity for age (range 8%-41%). Anticholinergic therapy was prescribed in six patients (28%) for a mean duration of 5 months (range 1-16 months). Comparison of GFR at 1 year post-transplant in anuria group and those without anuria showed no difference (69 vs 75 mL/min, P = 0.37). No correlation was observed between duration of anuria and post-transplant GFR. CONCLUSION: The majority of children in our pretransplant anuria cohort did not develop bladder dysfunction after renal transplantation. No difference was observed between GFR at 1 year when comparing anuric to non-anuric transplant recipients of medical renal disease etiology.

PURPOSE OF REVIEW: The purpose of this review is to bring the reader up-to-date on the current use of video urodynamics (VUDS) in the evaluation and management of the valve bladder. RECENT FINDINGS: Findings show that multiple studies on valve bladder have utilized VUDS in some aspect of their research. VUDS is increasingly used in instances when vesicoureteral reflux, changing or inconsistent urodynamic studies, and bladder neck obstruction are a component of valve bladder. VUDS has also been used in pre-operative evaluation of patients with end-stage renal disease receiving a kidney transplant. Currently, there are no prospective studies looking at the use of VUDS and outcomes directly related to its use in patient assessment. The literature demonstrates that VUDS plays an integral role in the management of patients with valve bladder; however, additional research is required to better define the proper circumstances for its use.

PURPOSE: Children born with persistent cloaca undergo complex pelvic reconstruction early in life. Long-term risks of bladder dysfunction and chronic kidney disease are well described. We report upper urinary tract outcomes and the risk of chronic kidney disease stage progression in this patient population. MATERIALS AND METHODS: We retrospectively studied a cohort of patients undergoing posterior sagittal anorecto-vagino-urethroplasty at a single institution from 2006 to 2013. Inclusion criteria consisted of complete urological care at our institution. Chronic kidney disease stage was calculated from cystatin C or nuclear medicine glomerular filtration rate. RESULTS: A total of 44 patients met inclusion criteria. Of the patients 12 had undergone vesicostomy or ureterostomy. A total of 19 patients had hydronephrosis, 19 had vesicoureteral reflux and 15 had a tethered spinal cord. Median length of the common channel was 3.5 cm. Median age at posterior sagittal anorecto-vagino-urethroplasty was 7.3 months. Median followup was 5.3 years. A total of 30 patients had neurogenic bladder, of whom 27 required clean intermittent catheterization and 3 had undergone vesicostomy. Of the patients 38 had stage I or II, 5 had stage III and 1 had stage IV chronic kidney disease. During followup no patient with initial stage I to III chronic kidney disease had stage progression. The patient with stage IV chronic kidney disease had a renal allograft placed at age 34 months before needing dialysis. CONCLUSIONS: Early outcomes in patients with stage I to III chronic kidney disease demonstrate that renal function can be maintained despite a high rate of lower urinary tract dysfunction. Aggressive bladder management may help prevent progressive renal injury in this population.

BACKGROUND/PURPOSE: Mortality from end stage renal disease (ESRD) in patients with anorectal malformation (ARM) is reported to be between 2.5 and 6%. The risk differs depending on the type of ARM (6.4% "high" vs. 1.1% "low"). The purpose of this study was to review the characteristics of the ARM patients who received a kidney transplant (KT) to potentially identify if any modifiable factors existed that may have prevented ESRD. METHODS: The Colorectal Center and the kidney transplant databases at Cincinnati Children's Hospital were queried to identify patients with ARM and a KT. Data obtained included: gender, type of ARM, associated characteristics, urological status at birth, surgical and medical management, age at KT, and possible interventions that could have prevented or delayed the KT. RESULTS: 20 patients with ARM who underwent KT were identified. 16 were females, thirteen of whom had a cloaca; the average common channel length in these patients was 5 cm, ranging from 2 to 8 cm. Nine cloaca patients had hydrocolpos and 5 of them were not drained at birth. Eleven patients presented with renal failure at birth. Five patients with cloaca had common channel atresia/stenosis, 2 male patients had severe urethral atresia, 2 patients had absent bladders, and 1 patient had bilateral blind ureters. At birth, 6 patients had single functional kidneys, 4 had bilateral hydronephrosis with megaureters, 3 patients had bilateral dysplastic kidneys, 1 patient had a single kidney with hydronephrosis, and 1 patient had a single hypoplastic kidney. The average age at KT was 10.9 years (range 2-21 years.); in 3 patients, the KT was performed before the repair of the ARM. One patient died after the KT and one patient had rejection following the KT and is currently on hemodialysis. CONCLUSION: Patients with cloaca and recto-bladderneck fistula are the type of ARM with the highest risk for ESRD. Kidney failure at birth, common channel/urethral atresia, hydrocolpos, single kidney, and ectopic ureters represent high risk for future KT. Even when missed opportunities were identified, the impact of interventions to prevent or delay the onset of ESRD could not be proven.

The history and physical examination of an adolescent male are critical to early detection of scrotal abnormalities. Although rare, paratesticular rhabdomyosarcoma grows quickly and can be life-threatening. This article focuses on the importance of prompt recognition, diagnosis, and appropriate management of paratesticular rhabdomyosarcoma in an adolescent.

INTRODUCTION: Epididymitis in patients with anorectal malformation (ARM) represents a unique problem because unlike the general population, an underlying urinary tract problem is frequently identified. We review our experience with epididymitis in ARM population with an emphasis on examining urologic outcomes. MATERIALS AND METHODS: We performed a retrospective review of male patients with ARM cared for from 1980 to 2010. Clinical and pathologic variables recorded included age at presentation, recurrence, associated urologic anomalies, incidence of ureteral fusion with mesonephric ductal structures, glomerular filtration rate and urodynamic parameters. RESULTS: Twenty-six patients were identified with documented episodes of epididymitis. Renal injury was noted in five patients (19%), all of whom were diagnosed with neurogenic bladder (NGB) several years after anorectoplasty. NGB was found in ten patients (38%) in our series. Ectopic insertion of ureter into a mesonephric ductal structure was discovered in five patients (19%). Twelve patients (46%) had recurrent episodes of epididymitis, with seven of these patients (58%) being diagnosed with NGB. Two patients in the pubertal group presented with a history of epididymitis and complained of ejaculatory pain. CONCLUSION: Epididymitis in a patient with ARM warrants a comprehensive urologic investigation, particularly in recurrent episodes. Attempts at surgical intervention (e.g. vasectomy) should be avoided until functional assessment of the urinary tract has occurred. Failure to recognize this association may lead to potentially avoidable complications and morbidity. Long term urological follow up of these patients is warranted to identify at risk patients and minimize renal deterioration.

INTRODUCTION: Management of patients with posterior urethral valves (PUV) is commonplace for many pediatric urologists, however adult providers may be far less familiar with this diagnosis, its management and long-term ramifications. As urologic management of these patients has evolved, clinical outcomes have substantially improved with many more patients now surviving into adulthood. These patients remain at increased risk of morbidity due to their condition and therefore are likely to benefit from long term follow-up with adult providers. OBJECTIVE: In this review we analyze the psychosocial impacts of PUV on adults, evaluate long term transplant outcomes in PUV patients and discuss effective clinical management strategies of bladder dysfunction in adult PUV patients. STUDY DESIGN: A retrospective literature review was performed using the MEDLINE (Pubmed) electronic database using key words such as "posterior urethral valve", "quality of life", "sexual function", "transplant outcomes", "bladder dysfunction", "mitrofanoff" etc. to identify relevant studies. RESULTS: Generally, the quality of life of PUV patients is good, those suffering from renal insufficiency or lower urinary tract symptoms, specifically incontinence, appear to be a group that may benefit from more intensive follow-up. Good long-term kidney transplant (KT) function and survival can be achieved in patients with PUV. Rigorous management to optimize bladder function and close follow-up, are key for long term graft survival after KT. DISCUSSION: The chronicity of PUV warrants adult providers to be not only well versed in the pathophysiology of the disease, but well prepared to care for these patients as they transition into adulthood. CONCLUSION: Additional studies addressing psychosocial, clinical and transplant outcomes of adults with PUV are necessary to develop optimal long-term follow-up regimens for these patients.

BACKGROUND: Pediatric urolithiasis has been increasing at rate of 4-10 % annually in the United States, most notably within adolescents and females. A significant number of patients will require surgical management of their stones. Primary ureteroscopy (URS) affords the opportunity to treat stones under a single anesthetic with lower re-treatment rates or anatomical and stone characteristic limitations compared to shockwave lithotripsy. Previous studies evaluating primary URS have been largely underpowered, are limited by stone location, and/or are not representative of the stone population in the United States. OBJECTIVES: Primary study outcomes were the success of primary URS and patient characteristics associated with success. Secondary outcomes were the stone-free rate (SFR), 30-day emergency department (ED) visits, 30-day readmissions, and complications. METHODS: We performed a retrospective cohort study of patients less than 18 years of age from 2011 to 2023 who underwent primary URS. Patients were excluded if a ureteral stent was placed prior to URS or diagnostic URS was performed. A successful primary URS was considered if access to the ureter was obtained and treatment of the stone(s) completed. In failed primary URS, a ureteral stent was placed for staged management. RESULTS: A total of 196 patients were included and primary URS was performed or attempted on 224 renal units. The median age was 15.8 (IQR 13.4-16.9) years and median follow up 8.4 (IQR 1.1-24.6) months. The success rate of primary URS was 79 %. No significant characteristics were appreciated for successful primary URS based on: overall age, <14 vs > 14 years of age, sex, body mass index, history of stones, history of endourologic procedures, preoperative alpha blockade, location of stone(s), multiple stones, type of URS, or acute treatment. In successful primary URS, the SFR was 88 % with stone size (p = 0.0001) the only predictor of having residual stones. The 30-day ED rate was 21.4 %, 30-day unplanned readmission rate was 12.5 %, and complication rate was 7.5 %. No long-term complications were appreciated. DISCUSSION: Our success of primary URS compares favorably to previously published literature. Our SFR rate, 30-day ED visits, 30-day unplanned readmission, and complication rates are similar to other studies. Limitations of the study are its retrospective design, selection bias, and intermediate follow-up. CONCLUSIONS: Primary URS can be completed safely in the majority of pediatric patients without any patient characteristics associated with success. We advocate for primary URS when possible due to the excellent SFR and potential of treating stones under a single anesthetic.

BACKGROUND: With the use of multimodal treatments and hematopoietic stem cell transplant, the majority of children diagnosed with malignancies and hematologic diseases are now surviving into adulthood. Due to the gonadotoxic effects and potential for future infertility associated with many of these treatments, fertility counseling with sperm cryopreservation prior to starting therapy is the standard of care for post-pubertal males. Unfortunately, the options are limited for pre-pubertal patients or those unable to provide a specimen. Testicular tissue cryopreservation (TTC) is an investigational method to surgically obtain germ cells from testicular tissue and potentially restore future spermatogenesis. While TTC has been shown to be safe, little is reported on the time to treatment following the procedure to ensure adequate wound healing and avoid delays in definitive therapy. OBJECTIVES: The primary outcome was the time to initiation of treatment following TTC. Secondary outcomes were complication rates, delays in treatment due to TTC, and presence of germ cells. METHODS: We conducted a single-institution retrospective cohort study of patients undergoing TTC between 2017 and 2023. Patients at significant risk for treatment related infertility based on established criteria were eligible for TTC. Patients were excluded if they received their oncology or hematology care elsewhere. All patients were enrolled in an IRB approved research protocol with 75% of the tissue submitted for cryopreservation and 25% for research purposes. Time to therapy was defined as the first receipt of gonadotoxic treatment following TTC. RESULTS: A total of 122 patients (53 = malignant, 69 = non-malignant) underwent TTC with a median age of 5.9 years (IQR 2.3-9.35). Germ cells were identified in 115 (94%) specimens. A total of 109 (89%) patients underwent concomitant procedures. The median time to initiation of therapy was 5 (IQR 1.0-7.0) and 7 days (IQR 6.0-13.0) for malignant and non-malignant disease, respectively. The 30-day surgical complication rate was 2.5% and was similar between malignant vs non-malignant diagnoses (p = 0.58). All surgical complications were managed non-operatively. No patients had a delay in definitive treatment due to concern for wound healing or complications. DISCUSSION: Our surgical complication rates are similar to previous studies and are not affected by the time to treatment following TTC. Limitations of the study are its retrospective design, single institution, and short-term follow up. CONCLUSION: TTC can be performed safely, efficiently, and in conjunction with other necessary procedures without resulting in delays of definitive treatment. TTC affords the opportunity for fertility preservation in children who have no other options.

INTRODUCTION/BACKGROUND: Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) is a fundamental shift in perioperative care that has consistently demonstrated an improved outcome for a wide variety of surgeries in adults but has only limited evidence in the pediatric population. OBJECTIVE: We aimed to assess the success with and barriers to implementation of ERAS in a prospective, multi-center study on patients undergoing complex lower urinary tract reconstruction. STUDY DESIGN: Centers were directed to implement an ERAS protocol using a multidisciplinary team and quality improvement methodologies. Providers completed pre- and post-pilot surveys. An audit committee met after enrolling the first 5 patients at each center. Pilot-phase outcomes included enrollment of ≥2 patients in the first 6 months of enrollment, completion of 90 days of follow-up, identification of barriers to implementation, and protocol adherence. RESULTS: A total of 40 patients were enrolled across 8 centers. The median age at surgery was 10.3 years (IQR 6.4-12.5). Sixty five percent had a diagnosis of myelomeningocele, and 33 % had a ventriculoperitoneal shunt. A bladder augmentation was performed in 70 %, Mitrofanoff appendicovesicostomy in 52 %, Monti ileovesicostomy in 15 %, and antegrade continence enema channel in 38 %. The most commonly perceived barriers to implementation on the pre-pilot survey were "difficulty initiating and maintaining compliance with care pathway" in 51 % followed by a "lack of time, money, or clinical resources" in 36 %. The pre-pilot study experience, implementation, and pilot-phase outcomes are provided in the Table. All primary and secondary outcomes were achieved. DISCUSSION: The findings of the present study were similar to several small comparative studies with regard to the importance of a multidisciplinary team, strong leadership, and continuous audit for successful implementation of ERAS. Similar barriers were also encountered to other studies, which primarily related to a lack of administrative support, leadership, and buy-in from other services. The limitations of the present study included a relatively small heterogeneous cohort and absence of a comparative group, which will be addressed in the larger exploratory phase of the trial. The findings may also not be generaziable due to the need for sustainable processes that were unique to each center as well as an absence of adequate volume or resources at smaller centers. CONCLUSIONS: ERAS was successfully implemented for complex lower urinary tract reconstruction across 8 centers through a multidisciplinary team, structured approach based on the local context, and focus on a continuous audit.

BACKGROUND: This study sought to characterize sexual function and fecal incontinence related quality of life (QOL) outcomes for adult males with anorectal malformation (ARM) or Hirschsprung's Disease (HD). METHODS: We conducted a cross-sectional survey study of male patients ≥18 years with ARM or HD. Patients were identified from our institutional database, contacted and consented by telephone, and sent a REDCap survey via email. The International Index of Erectile Function (IIEF-5) and Male Sexual Health Questionnaire (MSHQ) evaluated erectile dysfunction (ED) and ejaculatory dysfunction (EjD), respectively. The Cleveland Clinic Incontinence Score (CCIS) and the Fecal Incontinence Quality of Life Scale (FIQLS) assessed fecal incontinence-related outcomes. A linear regression analysis of IIEF-5 scores compared to CCIS scores was used to evaluate for an association between ED and incontinence. RESULTS: Of 63 patients contacted, 48 completed the survey. The median age for respondents was 22.5 years (IQR 20-25). There were 19 patients with HD and 29 patients with ARM. On the IIEF-5 survey, 35.3% report some level of ED. On the MSHQ-EjD survey, the median score was 14 out of 15 (IQR 10.75-15), indicating few EjD concerns. The median CCIS was 5 (IQR 2.25-7.75) and the median FIQL scores ranged from 2.7 to 3.5 depending on the domain assessed, demonstrating some QOL challenges secondary to fecal incontinence. On linear regression analysis, IIEF-5 and CCIS scores were weakly associated (B = -0.55, p = 0.045). CONCLUSIONS: Male adult patients with ARM or HD may have ongoing concerns with sexual function and fecal incontinence. LEVEL OF EVIDENCE: Level 4. TYPE OF STUDY: Cross-Sectional Survey Study.

BACKGROUND: Anorectal malformations (ARM) are associated with neurogenic bladder. The traditional surgical ARM repair is a posterior sagittal anorectoplasty (PSARP), which is believed to have a minimal effect on bladder dynamics. However, little is known about the effects of reoperative PSARP (rPSARP) on bladder function. We hypothesized that a high rate of bladder dysfunction existed in this cohort. METHODS: We performed a retrospective review of ARM patients undergoing rPSARP at a single institution from 2008 to 2015. Only patients with Urology follow-up were included in our analysis. Data was collected regarding original level of ARM, coexisting spinal anomalies and indications for reoperation. We assessed urodynamic variables and bladder management (voiding, CIC or diverted) before and after rPSARP. RESULTS: A total of 172 patients were identified, of which 85 met inclusion criteria with a median follow-up of 23.9 months (IQR, 5.9-43.8 months). Thirty-six patients had spinal cord anomalies. Indications for rPSARP included mislocation (n = 42), posterior urethral diverticulum (PUD; n = 16), stricture (n = 19) and rectal prolapse (n = 8). Within 1 year following rPSARP, 11 patients (12.9%) had a negative change in bladder management, defined as need for beginning intermittent catheterization or undergoing urinary diversion, which increased to 16 patients (18.8%) at last follow-up. Postoperative bladder management changed in rPSARP patients with mislocation (p < 0.0001) and stricture (p 0.005) but not for rectal prolapse (p 0.143). CONCLUSIONS: Patients who undergo rPSARP warrant especially close attention for bladder dysfunction as we observed a negative postoperative change in bladder management in 18.8% of our series.
