RESUMO

Analysed were a total of 17,695 cases of hospital admission of patients presenting with arterial insufficiency of extremities, complications of diabetes mellitus, ulcers and necroses of the lower limbs, including 11,773 cases of hospitalization of patients diagnosed with peripheral artery diseases according to ICD-9 (till 1998) or ICD-10 (commencing from 1999) over the periods from 1993-1997 (period 1), 1998-2002 (period 2) and 2003-2007 (period 3). The correlation dependence was studied using the Pearson criterion, with the statistical significance of differences between the relative incidence of the parameters being calculated by means of the chi-square (chi2) test. The obtained findings showed a decrease in the number of amputees, the incidence of lethal outcomes and mortality rates, being most significant in the group of patients under 60 years of age. There was an inverse correlation between the above measures and the indices of the number of operations on the arteries performed in grade IV limb ischaemia.

RESUMO

The work presents the data on the immunostimulating properties of neuropeptides. As revealed in this study, the leu-enkephalin level in blood sera (taken from 55 patients) inversely correlates with the intensity of the proliferative response of lymphocytes to phytohemagglutinin. In in vitro systems dalargin promotes the increase or decrease of the proliferative response of lymphocytes to phytohemagglutinin, depending on the proliferative activity of cells in response to this mitogen, and also leads to an increase in the number of rosette-forming cells. Leu-enkephalin in doses of 100, 10, 1, 0.1 micrograms/ml and dalargin in a dose of 0.1 microgram/ml inhibit the migration of leukocytes.

RESUMO

Low-density lipoproteins, isolated from the serum of patients with hypercholesterolemia (dislipoproteinemia, type IIa), increased significantly the number of active and recovered rosette-forming cells (RFC) at incubation with lymphocytes of coronary patients. The use of lipoproteins, belonging to all atherogenic classes, did not essentially alter lymphocyte ability to form total E-RFC. Purified apolipoprotein B reduced lymphocyte capacity for active rosette formation.

RESUMO

In a study of the effect of lipoproteins of atherogenic classes on proliferative activity of peripheral lymphocytes in patients (n = 44) with ischemic heart disease (IHD) and healthy subjects (n = 16), VLDL isolated from hyperlipidemia blood were shown to have a more suppressive effect on proliferation of PHA-induced lymphocytes than those from healthy subjects. Effect analysis of VLDL isolated from patients with different hyperlipidemia types revealed that VLDL obtained from high triglyceride plasma depressed proliferation 85-75%, while VLDL withdrawn from high cholesterol plasma 45-55% (p less than 0.05). With addition of modified (oxidized) VLDL to PHA-activated lymphocytes oxidized VLDL were demonstrated to have a greater inhibitory effect as compared with intact VLDL. The observed peculiarities of the VLDL effect in hyperlipidemia may underlie the reduced functional activity of lymphocytes, discovered in IHD patients (n = 81).
