RESUMO

Objective: Several studies have reported conflicting results regarding the association between sarcopenia and outcomes in patients with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL). This meta-analysis aimed to evaluate the prognostic value of sarcopenia in patients with DLBCL. Methods: PubMed, Embase, and Cochrane Library databases were searched to identify trials exploring the association between sarcopenia and prognosis in patients with DLBCL treated with chemotherapy. A meta-analysis of overall survival (OS), progression-free survival (PFS), treatment completion, and rate of complete response (CR) was performed. Results: Twelve studies that involved 2,324 patients with DLBCL were included. Sarcopenia was associated with poor OS and PFS in patients with DLBCL, even after adjusting for confounders. Patients with sarcopenia had lower rates of CR and treatment completion than patients without sarcopenia. Conclusions: Sarcopenia is a negative predictor of prognosis in patients with DLBCL. Additional and prospective studies investigating the diagnostic criteria for sarcopenia are warranted.

RESUMO

There are varying definitions of women at high risk of breast cancer across different institutions, and there are reports suggesting that the breast cancer risk assessment tools have not been well integrated into clinical practice. In this study, we tried to investigate the perceived importance of different breast cancer risk factors by physicians in China. A cross-sectional survey involving 386 anonymous physicians was conducted using a 20-item, 5-point Likert scale questionnaire. The Kruskal-Wallis test and post-hoc pairwise comparisons were used to compare the differences in response. Most of the respondents were either breast surgeons/specialists (n=161; 41.7%) or medical oncologists (n=151; 39.1%), and the results showed that the breast cancer risk factors were not perceived as equally important. The weighting of each risk factor also varied depending on the physician's medical specialty, location of practice, and the number of years of clinical experience.  This study provides a more updated insight into the perceptions of physicians in China toward the breast cancer risk factors, as well as underlines the potential improvements in breast cancer risk assessment strategies that can be done.

RESUMO

adolescents aged 12 to 15 years based on the 4th National Oral Health Survey and to explore its associated factors. METHODS: Students aged 12 to 15 years were recruited using to a multistage stratified random sampling method. All the subjects received oral examination and completed a questionnaire. Information relating to OHRQoL was collected through a Mandarin version of the child oral impacts on daily performances (Child-OIDP) questionnaire. The relationship between the Child-OIDP scores and independent variables was assessed using a Mann-Whitney U-test, Kruskal-Wallis test and a multivariate Poisson regression. RESULTS: A total of 89,582 subjects were included in the analysis, of whom 76.6% reported oral impacts in the last 6 months. Eating was the most affected daily performance. The results of the regression analysis showed that factors associated with adolescents' OHRQoL included sex, location of residence, region, only child status, parents' level of education, frequency of sugar consumption, self-perception of general/oral health, dental appointments in the past 12 months, oral health knowledge status, age, decayed, missing and filled teeth (DMFT) index and number of teeth with gingival bleeding. CONCLUSION: Oral impacts were common among Chinese adolescents, although most were not so severe. Eating was the most commonly affected performance. Sex, location of residence, region, only child status, parents' level of education, frequency of sugar consumption, selfperception of general/oral health status, dental appointments in the previous 12 months, oral health knowledge status, age, DMFT index and number of teeth with gingival bleeding were found to be associated with OHRQoL.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the use of oral health services, the economic burden of oral diseases and related influential factors in China. METHOD: Using the multistage, stratified, equal proportion, random sampling method in the 4th National Oral Health Survey of China conducted in 2015 to 2016, residents aged 3 to 5 years, 12 to 15 years, 35 to 44 years, 55 to 64 years, and 65 to 74 years respectively were recruited, clinically examined and answered a questionnaire. Utilisation of oral health services were assessed in all the age groups and the economic burden of oral diseases in the past 12 months were assessed in the 3 to 5 years and 35 to 74 year-old groups. Chi-squared tests, t tests, correlation analysis and a one-way ANOVA were used to determine the relationships of different factors with utilisation of oral health services and the economic burden of oral diseases. RESULTS: In the subject groups - 3 to 5 years, 12 to 15 years and 35 to 74 years - the prevalence of the utilisation of oral health services in the past 12 months was 14.6% (5,876/40,353), 23.6% (27,936/118,592), and 20.1% (2,708/13,461), respectively. In all three groups, receiving dental treatment was the most common reason for subjects' recent dental visit. The average dental cost in the past 12 months was 403.43 CNY (median = 100) for 3 to 5-year-old children and 850.83 CNY (median = 300) for adults aged 35 to 74 years old. Area, education and annual household income per person were the socio-economic influential factors. Oral health status, oral hygiene and attitudes to and knowledge of oral health affected the utilisation of oral health services and the economic burden of oral diseases. CONCLUSION: The percentage of dental service utilisation was relatively low, and the economic burden was high. The related factors for both utilisation of oral health services and the economic burden of oral diseases included living in area, educational attainment, household income, perceived oral health status, and oral hygiene.

RESUMO

The purpose of this study was to investigate the prognosis of acute myelogenous leukemia (AML), acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), lymphoid antigen-positive acute myeloid leukemia (Ly + AML), myeloid antigen-positive acute leukemia (My + ALL) and biphenotypic acute leukemia (BAL). Immunophenotyping was performed on medullary specimens of 197 acute leukemia (AL) patients by using three-color flow cytometry analysis and CD45/SSC gating. The scoring systems proposed by EGIL was adopted to classify the AL patients into five groups: 43 of ALL, 53 of AML, 53 of My + ALL, 39 of Ly + AML and 9 of BAL patients. The results showed that in Ly + AML, CD7 was the most common (53.8%) as compared to other lymphoid markers, however, in My + ALL CD13 was the most common (47.2%) as compared to other myeloid markers. Compared with Ly + AML, My + ALL had higher incidences of enlargement of liver, spleen and lymphnodes significantly (P<0.05). As for the case numbers of WBC counts > 100 x 10(9)/L, the positive rate of CD34 and the complete remission rate there was no obvious difference between groups of Ly + AML and My + ALL (P>0.05). As for incidences of enlargement of liver, spleen and lymphnodes, the case numbers of WBC counts > 100 x 10(9)/L, the positive rate of CD34 and complete remission rate, no obvious difference was found between ALL and My + ALL (P>0.05). Compared with AML, Ly + AML had lower complete remission rate significantly (P<0.05). As for incidences of enlargement of liver, spleen and lymphnodes, the case numbers of WBC counts > 100 x 10(9)/L and the positive rate of CD34, no obvious difference was found between AML and Ly + AML (P>0.05). Compared with Ly + AML and My + ALL, BAL showed no significant difference in complete remission rate (P>0.05) because the number of BAL patients was too small. It is concluded that since Ly + AML has lymphoid markers, and the prognosis of Ly + AML is worse than AML, the clinical therapy for Ly + AML should contain both AML and ALL. Though My + ALL had myeloid markers, no significant difference was found between My + ALL and ALL, it might be supposed that their therapy could be the same.

RESUMO

The study was to investigate the biological characteristics of hyperleucocyte acute leukemia (HAL) and its clinical significance. Immunophenotyping was performed in 48 HAL patients and 73 NHAL patients by three-color flow cytometry analysis using CD45/SSC gating, meanwhile the cytogenetic analysis was performed in 74 patients. The results showed that as compared with NHAL group, HAL group had lower proportion of eryth-lineage in bone marrow (P < 0.05); in AML, the CD14 expression of HAL group was apparently higher than that of NHAL group (P < 0.05); in ALL, HAL group had higher expression of CD8 and lower expression of CD22, cCD79a compared with NHAL group (P < 0.05); the two groups had no significant difference in expression of special lineage antigens and overlapping lineage antigens (P > 0.05). The CR rate of HAL group was lower than that of NHAL group. It is concluded that bone marrow inhibition of HAL group is more severe than that of NHAL group. In AML, monocytic leukemia is easier to become into HAL than other leukemias. In ALL, T-lineage antigens of HAL group are more easily expressed than those of NHAL group; the leukemia cells of HAL group are naiver than those of NHAL group, meanwhile the prognosis of HAL is poor.
