RESUMO

Headed stud shear connectors are most broadly applied in various composite structures. There exist plenty of empirical formulae for load-slip curves. However, most of them are fitting formulae in particular forms. Due to the lack of physical model support, fitting empirical formulae apply only to cases with similar parameters to the tests. Therefore, this paper analyzes the load-slip curves of existing headed stud connectors, proposes three stages of slip deformation in the shear connectors and the corresponding trilinear model, and presents the analytical formulae for the stiffness and strength of headed stud shear connectors. Firstly, we model the headed studs and surrounding concrete as beams on the foundation model, derive the equivalent shear stiffness equations for headed studs, and establish the load-slip behaviors for the first two stages. Then, the connectors' shear stiffness and shear strength in the third stage are derived based on the head stud's plastic deformation characteristics and failure mode. Finally, the numerical results are presented and verified with the existing test results, showing that the trilinear model is conceptually straightforward, easy to apply, and has sufficient accuracy.

RESUMO

A beam-like structure of antisymmetric laminated multiferroic piezoelectric semiconductor (LMPS), which consists of two piezomagnetic (PM) and two piezoelectric semiconductor (PS) layers is proposed. The structure could be in pure flexure deformation under an applied magnetic field. Through this deformation mode and the induced polarization field through the magneto-electro-semiconductive (MES) coupling mechanism, the semiconducting properties of PS layers can be manipulated by the applied magnetic field. In order to better understand and quantitatively describe this deformation mode, the one-dimensional governing equations for the LMPS beam are developed based on the three-dimensional theory. The analytical solutions are then presented for the LMPS cantilever beam with open-circuit conditions. The multi-field coupling responses of the LMPS cantilever beam under the longitudinal magnetic field are investigated. Numerical results show that the amplitude of each physical quantity is proportional to the applied magnetic field, and the thickness ratio of the PS phase plays a significant role in the MES coupling behaviors of the LMPS beam. The proposed structure can be integrated into cement structures but also fabricated cement-based multiferroic PS composite materials and structures. It provides an important material and structure basis for developing structural health monitoring systems in the fields of civil and transportation infrastructures.

RESUMO

Longitudinal cracking in shear keys is one of the most frequently recurring problems in the adjacent precast concrete box beam bridges. The relative displacement across the shear key (RDSK) under loads has been used as a direct indicator for shear key cracking. Therefore, accurately simulating the interface between the shear key and beam or providing the correct relationship between shear transfer and RDSK is key to evaluating the damage of the shear key. In this study, the shear transfer properties of four types of composite specimens were studied by static displacement-controlled bi-shear (SDS), cyclic force-controlled bi-shear (CFS), and cyclic displacement-controlled bi-shear (CDS) tests. Two finite element models (FEMs) were established to calibrate and validate the interfacial material parameters. The results showed that adding reinforcement bars over the joints that connect the block and the overlay could improve the bearing capacity of the shear key. Formulae were proposed for the relation between shear force transfer and RDSK in engineering applications. The values of the interfacial material parameters used in the traction-separation model to simulate the interface between the shear key and beam were recommended.

RESUMO

The cable-stayed suspension bridge is one type of bridge that has been increasingly applied to bridge engineering, especially in cross-sea projects. However, the complex combined system of this type of bridge makes it quite difficult for researchers to make a quick decision of the parameter values during the design stage. The Hellinger-Reissner method is applied here to analyze the deformation and force of the structural members in the bridge. The advantage of this method is that the solving of deformation and force is independent of each other, which would enhance the accuracy of the final results. Different load conditions are also considered in the analysis. The results from the present method are compared with test results and finite element analysis, and show good agreements. It implies that the Hellinger-Reissner is a comparatively more efficient method to help designers choose the key parameters for cable-stayed suspension bridges.

RESUMO

General solutions for coupled three dimensional equations of piezoelectric media were used in this work to obtain some analytical solutions for free vibration of piezoelectric annular plates. These solutions not only satisfy the governing equations at every point in the concerned region but also satisfy the prescribed boundary conditions at every point on the boundaries. Therefore, they are three-dimensional exact. Numerical results are finally tabulated.
