RESUMO

Vessel remodeling is essential for a functional and mature vascular network. According to the difference in endothelial cell (EC) behavior, we classified vessel remodeling into vessel pruning, vessel regression and vessel fusion. Vessel remodeling has been proven in various organs and species, such as the brain vasculature, subintestinal veins (SIVs), and caudal vein (CV) in zebrafish and yolk sac vessels, retina, and hyaloid vessels in mice. ECs and periendothelial cells (such as pericytes and astrocytes) contribute to vessel remodeling. EC junction remodeling and actin cytoskeleton dynamic rearrangement are indispensable for vessel pruning. More importantly, blood flow has a vital role in vessel remodeling. In recent studies, several mechanosensors, such as integrins, platelet endothelial cell adhesion molecule-1 (PECAM-1)/vascular endothelial cell (VE-cadherin)/vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 2 (VEGFR2) complex, and notch1, have been shown to contribute to mechanotransduction and vessel remodeling. In this review, we highlight the current knowledge of vessel remodeling in mouse and zebrafish models. We further underline the contribution of cellular behavior and periendothelial cells to vessel remodeling. Finally, we discuss the mechanosensory complex in ECs and the molecular mechanisms responsible for vessel remodeling.

BACKGROUND: This study examined the relationship between loneliness and bedtime procrastination among Chinese university students, the mediating effects of COVID-19 risk perception and self-regulatory fatigue, and connectedness to nature's protective role, post pandemic. METHODS: We recruited 855 students to complete the Loneliness, Perceived Risk of COVID-19 Pandemic, Self-Regulatory Fatigue, Bedtime Procrastination, and Connectedness to Nature Scales. Data for descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, and moderated chain mediation effects were analyzed using SPSS 24.0 and process 3.5 macros. RESULTS: Loneliness positively correlated with bedtime procrastination, COVID-19 risk perception mediated the impact of loneliness on bedtime procrastination, self-regulatory fatigue mediated the effect of loneliness on bedtime procrastination, and COVID-19 risk perception and self-regulatory fatigue mediated the effect between loneliness and bedtime procrastination. Furthermore, connectedness to nature mediated the impact of COVID-19 risk perception on self-regulatory fatigue. CONCLUSIONS: The results indicate the effects and potential mechanisms of loneliness on bedtime procrastination after the relaxation of the pandemic prevention and control policy in China from the perspective of self-regulatory resources and provide insights into improving university students' sleep routine and mental health post pandemic.

Hematopoietic stem/progenitor cells (HSPCs) originate from endothelial cells (ECs) localized on the ventral side of the dorsal aorta (DA), and hemodynamic parameters may suffer sharp changes in DA at HSPCs development stage for intersegmental vessel formation. However, the temporal-spatial shear stress parameters and biomechanics mechanisms of HSPC budding remain unknown. Here, we found that the hematopoietic endothelium (HE) in the aorta-gonad-mesonephros was heterogeneous; that is, HEs were mainly distributed at the ventral side of the vascular bifurcation in zebrafish embryos, which was found to show low shear stress (LSS) through numerical simulation analysis. Furthermore, HSPCs localized in the posterior somite of aorta-gonad-mesonephros with slow velocity. On the temporal scale, there was a slow velocity and LSS during HE budding from 36 h post-fertilization and decreased shear stress with drug expanded HSPC numbers. Mechanistically, matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) expression and macrophage chemotaxis were significantly increased in HEs by RNA-seq. After treatment with an MMP13 inhibitor, HSPCs were significantly reduced in both the aorta-gonad-mesonephros and caudal hematopoietic tissue in embryos. Our results show that HSPC budding is heterogeneous, and the mechanism is that physiological LSS controls the emergence of HSPCs by promoting the accumulation of macrophages and subsequent MMP expression.

Cadmium (Cd) exposure is a risk factor for endothelial dysfunction and cardiovascular disease. Ferroptosis is a type of cell death that relies on lipid peroxidation. Whether ferroptosis acts in Cd-induced vascular endothelial damage and the underlying mechanisms remain unclear. Herein, we found that Cd resulted in ferroptosis of vascular endothelial cells (ECs) in vivo and in vitro. In the visualized zebrafish embryos, Cd accumulated in vascular ECs, ROS and lipid peroxidation levels were increased, and the oxidoreductase system was disturbed after exposure. Moreover, Cd decreased Gpx4 in ECs and caused smaller mitochondria with increased membrane density. Accompanied by ferroptosis, the number of ECs and the area of the caudal venous plexus in zebrafish embryos were reduced, and the survival rate of HUVECs decreased. These effects were partially reversed by ferrostatin-1 and aggravated by erastin. Mechanistically, an excessive increase in Heat Shock Protein 70 (Hsp70) was identified by transcriptomics after Cd exposure. Inhibition of Hsp70 by VER-155008 or siRNA ameliorated Cd-induced ferroptosis, thereby alleviating endothelial injury. Furthermore, Hsp70 regulated Cd-induced ferroptosis by targeting multiple targets, including Gpx4, Fth1, Nrf2 and Acsl4. Our findings provide a new approach to investigating the endothelial damage of Cd and indicate that regulation of Hsp70 is an important target for alleviating this process.

Areca nut has been listed as one of the most addictive substances, along with tobacco, alcohol and caffeine. Areca nut contains seven psychoactive alkaloids; however, the effects of these alkaloids on embryonic development and motor behavior are rarely addressed in zebrafish embryo-larvae. Herein, we investigated the effects of exposure to three alkaloids (arecoline and secondary metabolites-arecaidine and arecoline N-oxide) on the developmental parameters, locomotive behavior, oxidative stress and transcriptome of zebrafish embryos. Zebrafish embryos exposed to different concentrations (0, 0.1, 1, 10, 100 and 1000 µM) of arecoline, arecaidine and arecoline N-oxide showed no changes in mortality and hatchability rates, but the malformation rate of zebrafish larvae was significantly increased in a dose-dependent manner and accompanied by changes in body length. Moreover, the swimming activity of zebrafish larvae decreased, which may be due to the increase in reactive oxygen species and the imbalance between oxidation and antioxidation. Meanwhile, transcriptome analysis showed that endoplasmic reticulum stress and the apoptosis p53 signaling pathway were significantly enriched after exposure to arecoline and arecoline N-oxide. However, arecaidine exposure focuses on protein synthesis and transport. These findings provide an important reference for risk assessment and early warning of areca nut alkaloid exposure.

Tri-n-butyl phosphate (TnBP) is a widely used organophosphate ester, but its effects on the regenerative process under damaging circumstances remain unknown. In the present study, zebrafish larvae were exposed to 0, 50, 100, 200 and 1000 µg/L TnBP, and the caudal fins were cut at 72 hours post fertilization (hpf). First, after exposure to TnBP, the number of total neutrophils decreased together with decreased neutrophils in the tail, and TnBP inhibited chemotaxis. Second, reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels in the zebrafish decreased greatly. Following exposure to TnBP, transcription levels of many genes regulating fin regeneration, such as fgf20a, fgfr1a, bmp2a and bmp4, were significantly downregulated, while inflammatory factors such as cxcl8a, cxcl18b, il-6, and tnfa were abnormally upregulated. In addition, TnBP inhibited the regenerative area after caudal fin amputation. The inflammatory state was adverse during the regenerative process. In summary, TnBP exposure is immunotoxic and decreases oxidative stress in injured zebrafish larvae.

BACKGROUND: Kawasaki disease (KD) is a self-limiting vasculitis with an unknown etiology. It has been reported that breastfeeding has a potential protective effect on KD development. However, whether breastfeeding has an effect on the development of coronary artery lesions (CALs) remains unclear. METHODS: We retrospectively reviewed the medical records of patients with the main diagnosis of KD hospitalized in our hospital from May 2017 to November 2018. Standardized telephone interviews were carried out to obtain feeding practices before KD was onset. RESULTS: Two hundred and ninety-three (51.6%) were exclusively breastfed, 223 (39.3%) were partially breastfed and 52 (9.2%) were formula fed. There were no significant differences in the characteristics regarding age, gender, incomplete KD, intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) resistance, and the laboratory variables among the three groups. With formula feeding as a reference, patients exclusively breastfed and partially breastfed seemed to have a higher incidence of CALs, even after adjusting confounders, but were not statistically significant. After grouping patients who were older than six months into formula feeding, partial breastfeeding for < 2 months, partial breastfeeding for ≥ 2 and < 4 months, partial breastfeeding for ≥ 4 and < 6 months and exclusively breastfeeding based on the length of breastfeeding, the results remained the same (P > 0.05). CONCLUSIONS: Breastfeeding has no protective effect on the development of CALs in KD.

Precision magnetic field measurement is widely used for practical applications, fundamental research, and medical purposes, etc. We propose a novel quantum magnetometer based on atoms' multi-wave (3-wave and 5-wave) Ramsey interference. Our design features high phase sensitivity and can be applied to in situ measurements of the magnetic field inside vacuum chambers. The final state detection is designed to be achieved by Raman's two-photon transition. The analytical solution for applicable interference fringe is presented. Fringe contrast decay due to atom temperature and magnetic field gradient is simulated to estimate reasonable experimental conditions. Sensitivity functions for phase noise and magnetic field noise in a multi-wave system are derived to estimate the noise level required to reach the expected resolution. The validity of the model, dual-channel features on bias estimation, and the quasi-non-destructive detection feature are discussed.

This study aimed to examine the relationship between information overload and individual state anxiety in the period of regular epidemic prevention and control and mediating effect of risk perception and positive coping styles. Further, we explored the moderating role of resilience. 847 Chinese participated in and completed measures of information overload, risk perception, positive coping styles, state anxiety, and resilience. The results of the analysis showed that information overload significantly predicted the level of individual state anxiety (ß = 0.27, p < 0.001). Risk perception partially mediate the relationship between information overload and state anxiety (B = 0.08, 95%CI = [0.05, 0.11]) and positive coping styles also partially mediate the relationship between information overload and state anxiety(B = -0.14, 95%CI = [-0.18, -0.10]). In addition, resilience moderated the mediating effects of risk perception (ß = -0.07, p < 0.05) and positive coping styles (ß = -0.19, p < 0.001). Resilience also moderated the effect of information overload on state anxiety (ß = -0.13, p < 0.001). These results offer positive significance for understanding the internal mechanism of the influence of information overload on individual state anxiety in the epidemic environment and shed light on how to reduce people's state anxiety during an epidemic.

This study aimed to explore the relationship between parenting styles and the social adjustment of university students as well as the mediating effects of attachment avoidance and friendship quality. We further examined the moderating role of gender. This study used convenience sampling to recruit 501 Chinese university students to complete the Chinese version of the Negative Parenting subscale of EMBU, Attachment Avoidance Scale, Friendship Quality Questionnaire, and Social Adjustment Scale. SPSS 24.0 and the Process 3.5 macro program were used to carry out descriptive statistical and correlation analyses and mediating effect and moderated chain-mediating effect tests on the data. The analyses revealed that negative parenting styles significantly negatively predicted social adjustment in university students. Attachment avoidance mediated the relationship between negative parenting styles and social adjustment in university students, and friendship quality mediated the relationship between negative parenting styles and social adjustment in university students. Attachment avoidance and friendship quality played a chain-mediating role in the relationship between negative parenting styles and university students' social adjustment. Gender moderated the effect of negative parenting style on friendship quality among university students. These results show how negative parenting styles affect college students' social adjustment and its underlying mechanisms in the context of China's collectivist culture and high power distance and further reveal the gender differences involved, providing insights to better understand the factors influencing college students' social adjustment.

OBJECTIVES: To study the biological processes and functions of serum exosomes in children in the acute stage of Kawasaki disease (KD), so as to provide new biomarkers for the early diagnosis of KD. METHODS: In this prospective study, 13 children with KD who were treated in Children's Hospital of Soochow University from June 2019 to August 2020 were enrolled as the KD group, and 13 children who were hospitalized due to bacterial infection during the same period were enrolled as the control group. Whole blood was collected on the next morning after admission, serum samples were obtained by centrifugation, and exosomes were extracted through ultracentrifugation. Serum exosomes were analyzed by label-free quantitative proteomics, and differentially expressed proteins (DEPs) were screened out for functional enrichment analysis. A protein-protein interaction (PPI) network was plotted, and unique proteins were validated by targeted proteomics. RESULTS: A total of 131 DEPs were screened out for the two groups, among which 27 proteins were detected in both groups. There were 48 unique DEPs in the KD group, among which 23 were upregulated and 25 were downregulated, and these proteins acted on "complement and coagulation cascades" and "the MAPK signaling pathway". Validation by targeted proteomics showed that FGG, SERPING1, C1R, C1QA, IGHG4, and C1QC proteins were quantifiable in the KD group. A total of 29 proteins were only expressed in the control group, among which 12 were upregulated and 17 were downregulated. Four proteins were quantifiable based on targeted proteomics, i.e., VWF, ECM1, F13A1, and TTR. A PPI network was plotted for each group. In the KD group, FGG and C1QC had close interaction with other proteins, while in the control group, VWF had close interaction with other proteins. CONCLUSIONS: The serum exosomes FGG and C1QC in children in the acute stage of KD are expected to become the biomarkers for the early diagnosis of KD. For children with unexplained fever, detection of FGG, C1QC1, and VWF may help with etiological screening.

The temperature of atoms, coupled to several effects, plays an important role in high precision atom interferometry gravimeters. In this work, we present an ultra-cold 87Rb atom interferometry gravimeter, in which the atom source is produced by evaporative cooling in an all optical dipole trap to investigate the effects related to atom temperature. A condensate containing 4 × 104 atoms can be prepared within 3.2 s through an all-optical dipole trap composed of two reservoirs and a dimple. The fringe contrast of our atom interferometry gravimeter reaches up to 76(4)% due to the advantage of ultra-cold atom source even at a free evolution time of T=80 ms. A resolution of 6 µGal (1 µGal=1×10-8 m/s2) after 3000 s integration time with a sampling rate of 0.25 Hz is achieved in this atom gravimeter. The relationship between the fringe contrast and the atom temperature in the atom gravimeter is studied; in addition, the wavefront aberration effect in the atom gravimeter is also investigated by varying the temperature of atoms.

AIMS: Visceral obesity is a major health issue and is a risk factor for an atherogenic state. Visceral obesity has been reported to be a crucial link between albuminuria and cardiovascular diseases (CVD). This study attempted to explore the association between visceral obesity and albuminuria in prediabetic individuals. METHODS: This cross-sectional study included 24871 prediabetic participants over 40 years of age from seven centres across China (REACTION study). The visceral adiposity index (VAI) was determined based on the measurements of anthropometric indices and lipid parameters. Increased albuminuria was defined as a urinary albumin-creatinine ratio (UACR) ≥30 mg/g, indicating kidney damage. Propensity score matching was used to reduce bias, and a multiple logistic regression model was performed to evaluate the association between visceral obesity and albuminuria in the population with prediabetes. RESULTS: Participants with increased UACR exhibited increased VAI, age, blood pressure, triglycerides, poor glycaemic control, CVD events, and decreased estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR). Multiple logistic regression analysis demonstrated that VAI quartiles were positively associated with an increased risk of albuminuria (Q2: odds rate [OR]: 1.10, 95% confidence intervals [CI] 0.96-1.25; Q3: OR: 1.16, 95% CI 1.01-1.32; Q4: OR: 1.26, 95% CI 1.10-1.44, p for trend = 0.001). Stratified analysis revealed that the association of VAI level with increased albuminuria risk also occurred in people who were young, women, overweight or obese, with poor control of blood pressure, and eGFR ≥90 ml/min per 1.73 m2 . CONCLUSIONS: Visceral obesity assessed by VAI is significantly associated with increased UACR in a Chinese population with prediabetes.

BACKGROUND: Intimal hyperplasia caused by vascular injury is an important pathological process of many vascular diseases, especially occlusive vascular disease. In recent years, Nano-drug delivery system has attracted a wide attention as a novel treatment strategy, but there are still some challenges such as high clearance rate and insufficient targeting. RESULTS: In this study, we report a biomimetic ROS-responsive MM@PCM/RAP nanoparticle coated with macrophage membrane. The macrophage membrane with the innate "homing" capacity can superiorly regulate the recruitment of MM@PCM/RAP to inflammatory lesion to enhance target efficacy, and can also disguise MM@PCM/RAP nanoparticle as the autologous cell to avoid clearance by the immune system. In addition, MM@PCM/RAP can effectively improve the solubility of rapamycin and respond to the high concentration level of ROS accumulated in pathological lesion for controlling local cargo release, thereby increasing drug availability and reducing toxic side effects. CONCLUSIONS: Our findings validate that the rational design, biomimetic nanoparticles MM@PCM/RAP, can effectively inhibit the pathological process of intimal injury with excellent biocompatibility.

BACKGROUND: Both lipid and glucose abnormalities are associated with hypertension (HTN). However, it is unclear whether the triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index is associated with HTN. Therefore the aim of this study is to investigate the association of the TyG index and HTN and to compare the discriminative power of the TyG index, lipid, glycemic parameters for the risk of HTN in elderly individuals. METHODS: The present study was nested in a longitudinal (REACTION) study from May 2011 to December 2011, which was designed to demonstrate the association of abnormal glucose metabolism with the risk of cancer in the Chinese population. In total, 47,808 participants were recruited in this cross-sectional study. The TyG index was divided into five groups: the < 20% group, the 20-39% group, the 40-59% group, the 60-79% group and the ≥ 80% group, according to quintile division of the subjects. Three multivariate logistic regression models were used to evaluate the association between the TyG vs. lipid parameters, glycemic parameters and HTN. RESULTS: Multivariate logistic regression analysis shows that compared with lipid and glycemic parameters, the TyG index remains significantly associated with HTN in either total subjects or subjects separated into men and women (odds ratio (OR) 1.33, 95% confidence interval (CI) 1.18-1.51, p < 0.0001 in total subjects; OR 1.39, 95% CI 1.11-1.74, p = 0.0042 in men; OR 1.28, 95% CI 1.11-1.49, p = 0.0010 in women). In a stratified analysis, an elevated TyG index is significantly associated with HTN in the subgroup of the oldest age (≥ 65) (OR 1.67, 95% CI 1.30-2.14, p < 0.0001), as well as with obesity (Body mass index (BMI) ≥ 28 kg/m2) (OR 1.85, 95% CI 1.29-2.66, p = 0.0009) or lower estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) (< 90 mL/(min·1.73 m2)) (OR 1.72, 95% CI 1.33-2.21, p < 0.0001). CONCLUSION: The TyG index is significantly associated with HTN and shows the superior discriminative ability for HTN compared with lipid and glycemic parameters in the Chinese elderly population.

BACKGROUND: The growth hormone/insulin-like growth factor-1 (GH/IGF-1) axis is critical for the regulation of children's growth and development. Serum IGF-1 concentrations are usually low in individuals with idiopathic short stature (ISS) despite normal endogenous GH levels, and the associated underlying factors are unknown. This study aimed to explore the relationship between IGF-1 and hemoglobin (Hb) in children with ISS. METHODS: A cross-sectional analysis was performed including 178 children and adolescents with ISS who were enrolled from March 2013 to February 2019. The related clinical and biochemical parameters were evaluated for each patient. Univariate analysis, smooth curve fitting and multivariate piecewise linear regression were performed. RESULT: The mean levels of IGF-1 standard deviation scores (SDS) and Hb were - 0.99 (- 1.60 - -0.09) and 131.81 ± 9.36 g/L, respectively. Univariate analysis displayed a significant positive association between Hb and IGF-1 SDS (P < 0.001). After adjusting for potential confounding factors, the positive relationship between Hb and IGF-1 SDS remained (P = 0.001). Furthermore, there was an inflection point for Hb in the curve. In a multivariate piecewise linear regression model, IGF-1 SDS was significantly positively associated with Hb when Hb concentrations were lower than 145 g/L (B 0.05; 95% CI 0.02, 0.07; P < 0.001). However, IGF-1 SDS decreased with increasing Hb levels when Hb concentrations were greater than 145 g/L (B -0.15; 95% CI -0.23, - 0.06; P = 0.001). CONCLUSION: This study demonstrated that Hb is associated with IGF-1 in Chinese children and adolescents with ISS. The levels of IGF-1 increased with the elevation of Hb, but when the concentration of Hb exceeded a certain range, with the increase of Hb, IGF-1 decreased instead.

OBJECTIVES: The purpose of the present study was to explore the changes in epidemiological, clinical and laboratory characteristics of Kawasaki disease (KD) over a 12-year period in this area. METHODS: The medical records of KD patients hospitalized in the Children's Hospital of Soochow University from January 2006 to December 2017 were retrospectively reviewed and analyzed. To elucidate the changes more clearly in these years, we divided all patients into three groups according to the time of admission, 5-year time intervals apart. RESULTS: We found the number of KD had increased in recent years, although the age compositions had some variances. The male-to-female ratio peaked in patients aged 6-11 months and then decreased with ages. Incidence rates of clinical characteristics were almost the same except for cervical lymphadenopathy. Significant differences were noted in percentage of neutrophils, albumin, C-reactive protein, erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) and platelets. However, only ESR and platelets were significantly different after adjusting the days of disease onset. A trend showing a shorter fever duration before intravenous immunoglobulin treatment was also noted. CONCLUSIONS: The number of KD was increasing annually. Our results were indicative of a possibly changed etiology of the disease. However, further large-scale long-term surveillance is warranted.

Primary macronodular adrenal hyperplasia (PMAH), also known in the past as bilateral macronodular adrenalhyperplasia or adrenocorticotropin (ACTH)-independent macronodular adrenal hyperplasia, is a rare type of Cushing's syndrome (CS) and is associated with bilateralenlargement of the adrenal glands. It accounts for <1% of all endogenous cases of CS. In order toidentify the pathogenic mutations in the causative gene of (AIMAH pedigrees, Whole-genome sequencing of three patients in family I was used to retrieve candidate causative genes. Meanwhile, the causative gene was identified by Sanger sequencing from the two pedigrees. Sequencing of ARMC5 exons of three patients was carried out to identify somatic mutations. Moreover, haploid clone of one tumor DNA sample was conducted. ARMC5 was the causative gene of two pedigrees confirmed by whole-genome sequencing (WGA) and Sanger sequencing. The variant sites of the two families were c.C943T (p.R315W) and c.C1960T (p.R654X), respectively. Autosomal dominant inheritance of AIMAH was confirmed by genotypes of one family member. Several somatic mutations were discovered in tumor DNA samples. In addition, haploid clone of tumor DNA was confirmed by germline mutation and somaticmutation, which suggested the pathogenic mechanism of "two-hit-model." ARMC5 was the causative gene of AIMAH pedigrees. This AIMAH in this study presented autosomal dominant inheritance, fitting to Mendelian inheritance law. However, the pathogenic mode of this disease showed as compound heterozygote.

OBJECTIVE: The objective of this study was to investigate the association between metabolically healthy obese (MHO) phenotype and the risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD). METHODS: A total of 9393 subjects aged ≥40 years were enrolled in the cohort study (2011-2015). The participants were stratified by body mass index category and metabolic risk at baseline, and incidence of CVD was ascertained at follow-up. RESULTS: The MHO accounted for 6.7%. Compared with the metabolically healthy normal weight (MHNW) group, MHO subjects demonstrated increased risk of CVD events (HR = 1.91; 95% CI, 1.13-3.24). In people with obesity, there was no significant difference on increasing risk of incidence of CVD in the metabolically unhealthy individuals compared with metabolically healthy individuals (HR = 1.19; 95% CI, 0.74-1.91). Female (OR = 1.97; 95% CI, 1.06-3.64), smoking (OR = 2.09; 95% CI, 1.06-4.10), a larger waist circumference (OR = 1.07; 95% CI, 1.03-1.10) and higher LDL cholesterol levels (OR = 1.55; 95% CI, 1.20-2.00) were independent risk factors of the development of the MHO to the metabolically unhealthy obese (MUO) phenotype. CONCLUSIONS: The risk of CVD events of MHO phenotypes is similar to MUO phenotypes; both are higher than the MHNW phenotypes.

BACKGROUND: Because of the different genetic backgrounds, living environments and economic conditions, the epidemiologic, clinical characteristics and risk factors for coronary artery abnormalities (CAAs) in the Chinese population may differ among different parts of China. METHODS: We did a retrospective study to explore the clinical characteristics and risk factors for CAAs in east China between 2006 and 2014. RESULTS: There were 1016 patients during the study period. Of the 1004 patients who completed echocardiographic studies, 23.9% had CAAs. Sex, serum albumin, erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR),Mycoplasma pneumoniae(MP) infection, intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) started after the 10th day of illness and IVIG non-responders were independent risk factors associated with CAA. CONCLUSIONS: East China has a lower incidence of CAAs compared with southwest and northeast China, while similar to north China. Male gender, serum albumin, ESR, MP infection, IVIG started after the 10th day of illness and IVIG non-responders were predictive of CAA.
