RESUMO

We present wavelength-division multiplexed coherent transmission in an O-band amplified link enabled by bismuth-doped fiber amplifiers (BDFAs). Transmission of 4 × 25 GBd DP-16QAM (4 × 200 Gb/s) is demonstrated over a single span of 50-km length, occupying a bandwidth of 4.7 THz across the wavelengths 1323 nm to 1351 nm.

The development of electrocatalysts that exhibit stability, high activity, and selectivity for CO2 reduction reactions (CO2RR) remains a significant challenge. Single-atom catalysts (SACs) hold promise in addressing this challenge due to their high atomic utilization efficiency. In this study, we explore the potential of monolayer γ-GeSe doped with transition metals, referred to as TM@γ-GeSe, for facilitating electrocatalytic CO2RR. Among the 26 TM@γ-GeSe SACs systematically designed, we have identified four stable transition metal catalysts (TM = Rh, Pd, Pt, and Au). Mechanistic investigations into the CO2RR pathways reveal exceptional electrocatalytic activity for Rh@γ-GeSe and Pd@γ-GeSe, with limiting potentials of -0.26 and -0.35 V, respectively. Particularly, Pd@γ-GeSe exhibits outstanding product selectivity toward formic acid. The introduction of strain engineering induces modifications in the catalytic activity and selectivity of Rh@γ-GeSe. Notably, a 1% tensile strain promotes formic acid as the preferred product, thereby improving the specific product selectivity of Rh@γ-GeSe. Conversely, compressive strain reduces CO2RR activity while enhancing the hydrogen evolution reaction, leading to a decrease in CO2RR selectivity. Furthermore, we use the work function as a descriptor to elucidate the underlying mechanism of strain tunability. We hope that our theoretical study will offer valuable insights for the design of catalysts based on γ-GeSe for electrocatalytic CO2RR.

OBJECTIVE: The objective of this study was to investigate the correlation between various factors and the clinical outcomes of Intrauterine Insemination (IUI) in both young and aged patients, aiming to provide a theoretical basis for clinical consultations. METHODS: This retrospective analysis examined a total of 4,221 IUI cycles conducted at the Reproductive Center of Changzhou Maternal and Child Health Hospital between January 2016 and December 2020. The patients were categorized into two groups based on age: the elder group (≥ 35 years) and the young group (< 35 years). RESULTS: The findings of this study revealed a significant association between woman's age and BMI with pregnancy outcomes (0.93, 95% CI: 0.89-0.97) (1.04, 95% CI: 1.01-1.06). Moreover, in young women, both age and Body Mass Index (BMI)were found to be related to pregnancy outcomes (0.97, 95% CI: 0.89-0.97) (1.08, 95% CI: 1.01-1.06). Additionally, BMI and the number of cycles in aged IUI patients were found to be associated with pregnancy outcomes. The pregnancy rate in the second cycle was approximately 1.9 times higher than that in the first cycle (1.9, 95% CI: 0.97-3.77), and in the third cycle, it was approximately 3 times higher than that in the first cycle (3.04, 95% CI: 1.43-6.42). CONCLUSIONS: In conclusion, there is an association between woman's age and BMI and the clinical outcomes of IUI. However, the number of cycles did not affect the pregnancy outcomes in young women. Conversely, in elder women, the number of cycles was found to be related to the IUI pregnancy outcomes, with significantly higher pregnancy rates observed in the second and third cycles compared to the first cycle.

BACKGROUND: It is uncertain how COVID-19 outbreak influences the hepatitis B epidemics. This study aims to evaluate the effects on hepatitis B owing to the COVID-19 outbreak and forecast the hepatitis B epidemiological trend in mainland China to speed up the course of the "End viral hepatitis Strategy". METHODS: We estimated the causal impacts and created a forecast through adopting monthly notifications of hepatitis B each year from 2005 to 2020 in mainland China using the Bayesian structural time series (BSTS) method. RESULTS: The hepatitis B epidemics fluctuates irregularly during the period 2005-2007(APC = 8.7, P = 0.246) and 2015-2020(APC = 1.7, P = 0.290), and there is a downturn (APC=-3.2, 95% CI -5.2 to -1.2, P = 0.006) from 2007 to 2015 in mainland China. The COVID-19 outbreak was found to have a monthly average reduction on the hepatitis B epidemics of 26% (95% CI 18-35%) within the first three months in 2020,17% (95% CI 7.7-26%) within the first six months in 2020, and 10% (95% CI19-22%) all year as a result of the COVID-19 outbreak, (probability of causal effect = 96.591%, P = 0.034) and the forecasts showed an upward trend from 2021 to 2025 (annual percentage change = 4.18, 95% CI 4.0 to 4.3, P < 0.001). CONCLUSION: The COVID-19 has a positive effect on the decline of hepatitis B cases. And the potential of BSTS model to forecast the epidemiological trend of the hepatitis B can be applied in automatic public health policymaking in mainland China.

Objective: To examine the therapeutic effects of vitamin E combined with recombinant human epidermal growth factor on recurrent oral ulcers as well as on the levels of serum superoxide dismutase (SOD), interleukin-10 (IL-10), and tumor necrosis factor- (TNF-α), to provide evidence to facilitate medical management. Method: From June 2021 to May 2022, 84 patients with recurrent oral ulcers assessed and treated in our hospital were assigned to the control group and observation group with 42 cases in each group. Vitamin E was administered to the control group, while recombinant human epidermal growth factor and vitamin E were administered to the observation group. The clinical efficacy, serum SOD level, inflammatory factor level (IL-10, TNF-α), immune function index, clinical symptom improvement, pain disappearance time, healing time of ulcer surface, and adverse reactions were examined. Results: Clinical efficacy of the observation group (92.86%) was considerably greater than the control group (73.81%), (P < .05). Following treatment, the observation group had comparatively higher levels of serum SOD and significantly decreased TNF-α and IL-10 concentrations compared to the control group (P < .05). Similarly, post-treatment, the observation group had substantially higher CD3+, CD4+, and CD4+/CD8+ concentrations and lower CD8+ concentrations compared to the normal control (P < .05). In contrast to the control group, the observation group's pain degree score, ulcer diameter, duration for pain relief, and ulcer surface healing time duration were reduced substantially (P < .05). Notably, the incidence of adverse reactions was fairly similar in both groups (P > .05). Conclusion: Vitamin E combined with recombinant human epidermal growth factor has a significant clinical effect on recurrent oral ulcers, can achieve rapid improvement of symptoms in patients, and is relatively safe to be used as a clinical therapy.

The Northern Sea Route (NSR) makes travel between Europe and Asia shorter and quicker than a southern transit via the Strait of Malacca and Suez Canal. It provides greater access to Arctic resources such as oil and gas. As global warming accelerates, melting Arctic ice caps are likely to increase traffic in the NSR and enhance its commercial viability. Due to the harsh Arctic environment imposing threats to the safety of ship navigation, it is necessary to assess Arctic navigation risk to maintain shipping safety. Currently, most studies are focused on the conventional assessment of the risk, which lacks the validation based on actual data. In this study, actual data about Arctic navigation environment and related expert judgments were used to generate a structured data set. Based on the structured data set, extreme gradient boosting (XGBoost) and alternative methods were used to establish models for the assessment of Arctic navigation risk, which were validated using cross-validation. The results show that compared with alternative models, XGBoost models have the best performance in terms of mean absolute errors and root mean squared errors. The XGBoost models can learn and reproduce expert judgments and knowledge for the assessment of Arctic navigation risk. Feature importance (FI) and shapley additive explanations (SHAP) are used to further interpret the relationship between input data and predictions. The application of XGBoost, FI, and SHAP is aimed to improve the safety of Arctic shipping using advanced artificial intelligence techniques. The validated assessment enhances the quality and robustness of assessment.

With the depletion of the ozone layer, the intensity of ultraviolet B (UV-B) radiation reaching the Earth's surface increases, which in turn causes significant stress to plants and affects all aspects of plant growth and development. The aim of this study was to investigate the mechanism of response to UV-B radiation in the endemic species of Rhododendron chrysanthum Pall. (R. chrysanthum) in the Changbai Mountains and to study how exogenous ABA regulates the response of R. chrysanthum to UV-B stress. The results of chlorophyll fluorescence images and OJIP kinetic curves showed that UV-B radiation damaged the PSII photosystem of R. chrysanthum, and exogenous ABA could alleviate this damage to some extent. A total of 2148 metabolites were detected by metabolomics, of which flavonoids accounted for the highest number (487, or 22.67%). KEGG enrichment analysis of flavonoids that showed differential accumulation by UV-B radiation and exogenous ABA revealed that flavonoid biosynthesis and flavone and flavonol biosynthesis were significantly altered. GO analysis showed that most of the DEGs produced after UV-B radiation and exogenous ABA were distributed in the cellular process, cellular anatomical entity, and catalytic activity. Network analysis of key DFs and DEGs associated with flavonoid synthesis identified key flavonoids (isorhamnetin-3-O-gallate and dihydromyricetin) and genes (TRINITY_DN2213_c0_g1_i4-A1) that promote the resistance of R. chrysanthum to UV-B stress. In addition, multiple transcription factor families were found to be involved in the regulation of the flavonoid synthesis pathway under UV-B stress. Overall, R. chrysanthum actively responded to UV-B stress by regulating changes in flavonoids, especially flavones and flavonols, while exogenous ABA further enhanced its resistance to UV-B stress. The experimental results not only provide a new perspective for understanding the molecular mechanism of the response to UV-B stress in the R. chrysanthum, but also provide a valuable theoretical basis for future research and application in improving plant adversity tolerance.

BACKGROUND: Culturally sensitive care has been identified as a best-practice approach for improving health outcomes. Hemodialysis patients require culturally sensitive care because it involves totally changing their previous life. The purpose of this study was to explore the subjective experiences of hemodialysis nurses in providing culturally sensitive care to hemodialysis patients. METHODS: A qualitative study was carried out in the hemodialysis center of a teaching hospital in northern Taiwan. Purposive sampling and semi-structured interview guidelines were employed to interview 23 hemodialysis nurses. The interviews were recorded and transcribed verbatim, and the resulting data were analyzed and summarized using content analysis by constant comparative methods. RESULTS: Hemodialysis nurses exhibited the characteristics for delivering culturally sensitive care, which comprised five aspects: finding the true meaning of the behavior of the participants, recognizing and honoring individual psychological states, culturally sensitive communication in line with patients' values, customizing care content through cultural transformation strategies, and empowerment rather than prohibition. CONCLUSIONS: The findings of this study on the culturally sensitive care provided by hemodialysis nurses can be utilized by nursing educators and administrators as a reference to develop and enhance the nursing education related to culturally sensitive care for hemodialysis professionals.

Restrained by the uncontrollable cleavage process of chemical bonds in methane molecules and corresponding formed intermediates, the target product in the reaction of methane selective oxidation to methanol would suffer from an inevitable overoxidation process, which is considered to be one of the most challenging issues in the field of catalysis. Herein, we report a conceptually different method for modulating the conversion pathway of methane through the selective cleavage of chemical bonds in the key intermediates to suppress the generation of peroxidation products. Taking metal oxides, typical semiconductors in the field of methane oxidation as model catalysts, we confirm that the cleavage of different chemical bonds in CH3O* intermediates could greatly affect the conversion pathway of methane, which has a vital role in product selectivity. Specifically, it is revealed that the formation of peroxidation products could be significantly prevented by the selective cleavage of C-O bonds in CH3O* intermediates instead of metal-O bonds, which is proved by the combination of density functional theory calculations and in situ infrared spectroscopy based on isotope labeling. By manipulating the lattice oxygen mobility of metal oxides, the electrons transferring from the surface to the CH3O* intermediates could directionally inject into the antibonding orbitals of the C-O bond, resulting in its selective cleavage. As a result, the gallium oxide with low lattice oxygen mobility shows a 3.8% conversion rate for methane with a high methanol generation rate (∼325.4 µmol g-1 h-1) and selectivity (∼87.0%) under room temperature and atmospheric pressure in the absence of extra oxidants, which is superior among the reported studies (reaction pressure: <20 bar).

BACKGROUND: Folate, including the folic acid form, is a key component of the one-carbon metabolic pathway used for DNA methylation. Changes in DNA methylation patterns during critical development periods are associated with disease outcomes and are associated with changes in nutritional status in pregnancy. The long-term impact of periconceptional folic acid supplementation on DNA methylation patterns is unknown. OBJECTIVES: To determine the long-term impact of periconceptional folic acid supplementation on DNA methylation patterns, we examined the association of the recommended dosage (400 µg/d) and time period (periconceptional before pregnancy through first trimester) of folic acid supplementation with the DNA methylation patterns in the offspring at age 14-17 y compared with offspring with no supplementation. METHODS: Two geographic sites in China from the 1993-1995 Community Intervention Program of folic acid supplementation were selected for the follow-up study. DNA methylation at 402,730 CpG sites was assessed using saliva samples from 89 mothers and 179 adolescents (89 male). The mean age at saliva collection was 40 y among mothers (range: 35-54 y) and 15 y among adolescents (range: 14-17 y). Epigenome-wide analyses were conducted to assess the interactions of periconceptional folic acid exposure, the 5,10-methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR)-C677T genotype, and epigenome-wide DNA methylation controlling for offspring sex, geographic region, and background cell composition in the saliva. RESULTS: In the primary outcome, no significant differences were observed in epigenome-wide methylation patterns between adolescents exposed and those non-exposed to maternal periconceptional folic acid supplementation after adjustment for potential confounders [false discovery rate (FDR) P values < 0.05]. The MTHFR-C677T genotype did not modify this lack of association (FDR P values < 0.05). CONCLUSIONS: Overall, there were no differences in DNA methylation between adolescents who were exposed during the critical developmental window and those not exposed to the recommended periconceptional/first-trimester dosage of folic acid.

Electrocatalytic CO2 reduction is a sustainable strategy to convert CO2 into valuable carbon products. Atomically dispersed single-atom catalysts (SACs) have great potential as effective electrocatalysts for the CO2 reduction reaction (CO2RR). Transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) are considered to be a kind of promising SAC supports. In this work, ten different 3d TM single atoms (TM = Sc, Ti, V, Cr, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu and Zn) embedded in PtS2 with single S-vacancy (TM-PtS2) were designed by density functional theory (DFT) as candidate electrocatalysts for the CO2RR. Possible reaction pathways of CO2 reduction to different C1 products were systematically investigated. The results show that for all these TM-PtS2 SACs, higher selectivity was achieved for CO2 reduction to C1 products than for the competing hydrogen evolution. HCOOH is the most favorable reduction product on PtS2-Sv supported Sc, Ti, V, Cr, Mn, Fe and Cu SACs, while multiple C1 products are generated on Co-, Ni- and Zn-PtS2. In particular, it is found that Sc-, V-, Fe-, Co- and Cu-PtS2 exhibit higher electrocatalytic performance for the CO2RR than Cu(211). Therefore, these five SACs are promising CO2RR electrocatalysts.

The Notch signalling pathway mediates cell fate decisions and is tumour suppressive or oncogenic depending on the context. During lung development, Notch pathway activation inhibits the differentiation of precursor cells to a neuroendocrine fate. In small-cell lung cancer, an aggressive neuroendocrine lung cancer, loss-of-function mutations in NOTCH genes and the inhibitory effects of ectopic Notch activation indicate that Notch signalling is tumour suppressive. Here we show that Notch signalling can be both tumour suppressive and pro-tumorigenic in small-cell lung cancer. Endogenous activation of the Notch pathway results in a neuroendocrine to non-neuroendocrine fate switch in 10-50% of tumour cells in a mouse model of small-cell lung cancer and in human tumours. This switch is mediated in part by Rest (also known as Nrsf), a transcriptional repressor that inhibits neuroendocrine gene expression. Non-neuroendocrine Notch-active small-cell lung cancer cells are slow growing, consistent with a tumour-suppressive role for Notch, but these cells are also relatively chemoresistant and provide trophic support to neuroendocrine tumour cells, consistent with a pro-tumorigenic role. Importantly, Notch blockade in combination with chemotherapy suppresses tumour growth and delays relapse in pre-clinical models. Thus, small-cell lung cancer tumours generate their own microenvironment via activation of Notch signalling in a subset of tumour cells, and the presence of these cells may serve as a biomarker for the use of Notch pathway inhibitors in combination with chemotherapy in select patients with small-cell lung cancer.

PURPOSE: Intrauterine adhesion (IUAs) in women is a debatable topic and there is no clear consensus in its management and treatment strategies. Previous treatment measures have limitations which necessitates to consider effective measures for prevention of recurrence of IUAs. Hence, the aim of this study to explore the efficacy and safety of intrauterine infusion of autologous platelet gel (APG) and medical chitosan in preventing recurrence of IUAs in females after transcervical resection of adhesion (TCRA). METHODS: A prospective, randomized controlled trial was conducted among 80 patients presented with moderate to severe IUAs. Patients were randomized into two groups, APG group (n = 40) and medical chitosan group (n = 40). All patients were injected with either APG or medical chitosan after TCRA. RESULTS: The postoperative recurrence rate of adhesions in APG group was significantly lower than those in medical chitosan group (21% vs 49%). The median AFS score during the second-look hysteroscopy was significantly lower in APG group than in medical chitosan group (P = 0.008). The median AFS score reduction after TCRA surgery was significantly higher in APG group than in medical chitosan group (median, 95% CI 7.000, 6.0 to 8.3 vs. 6.000, 5.0 to 7.0, P = 0.004). Subgroup analysis of platelet concentration (1000 as cut-off value) into high- and low-dose subgroups reported no significant correlation existed between APG and baseline characteristics, recurrence rate and postoperative AFS reduction score except for previous intrauterine operation (P < 0.05). CONCLUSION: Thus, after TCRA, intrauterine injections of APG provides better efficacy and safety compared with intrauterine injections of medical chitosan in preventing recurrence of intrauterine adhesions.

Restrained by uncontrollable dehydrogenation process, the target products of methane direct conversion would suffer from an inevitable overoxidation, which is deemed as one of the most challenging issues in catalysis. Herein, based on the concept of a hydrogen bonding trap, we proposed a novel concept to modulate the methane conversion pathway to hinder the overoxidation of target products. Taking boron nitride as a proof-of-concept model, for the first time it is found that the designed N-H bonds can work as a hydrogen bonding trap to attract electrons. Benefitting from this property, the N-H bonds on the BN surface rather than C-H bonds in formaldehyde prefer to cleave, greatly suppressing the continuous dehydrogenation process. More importantly, formaldehyde will combine with the released protons, which leads to a proton rebound process to regenerate methanol. As a result, BN shows a high methane conversion rate (8.5 %) and nearly 100 % product selectivity to oxygenates under atmospheric pressure.

The objective of this study was to investigate the function and biological mechanisms of tricin in in-vivo damage to the myocardium produced by ischemia-reperfusion in LDLr -/- mice. The hypercholesterolemia animal model employed was male LDLr -/- mice. Coronary artery occlusion in mice resulted in the detection of oxidative stress and inflammatory pathology. In mice with coronary artery blockage, tricin reduced oxidative burden in the cardiac tissue and inflammatory mediators. Additionally, the ST segment of the animals receiving tricin was resumed. Nowadays more private car trips have caused worse congestion due to the Covid-19 pandemic in many cities. Congestion charging is one of the taxes that is levied on vehicle owners to reduce urban traffic congestion. One of the most important reasons congestion charging is not accepted by the public is the high cost. Monitoring the state of traffic congestion in real time requires a lot of expensive installations. The purpose of this paper is to make congestion charging more accurate and acceptable using artificial intelligent algorithm. Massive real-time Global Positioning System (GPS) data provides new data for road congestion charging. The queuing length at intersections is an important measurement for the degree of traffic congestion, and it is also the basis for road congestion pricing. GPS positioning cannot provide sufficient position accuracy for lane identification of vehicles. In this study, a comprehensive model consisting of a real-time lane identification model and a real-time queue length estimation model is developed based on the traffic shockwave theory using GPS data. The comprehensive model can identify the lane where the queuing vehicle is located and estimate the real-time queue length of the lane. The proposed models were evaluated using field-collected data in Guangzhou, China. The testing results show that the proposed comprehensive model can identify lanes and estimate queue lengths with satisfactory accuracy. The model proposed in this paper provides real-time data for road dynamic pricing in a cost-effective way, which can promote the implementation of congestion charging in cities.

BACKGROUND: Renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system activation is the critical factor in renal remodeling and dysfunction. Our previous study suggested that miR-29b may attenuate AngII-induced renal intestinal fibrosis in vitro. In the present study, we aimed to determine whether recombinant rAAV9-mediated miR-29b delivery protects against AngII-induced renal fibrosis and dysfunction. METHOD: Mice were treated with AngII via osmotic mini-pumps, or phosphate-buffered saline. rAAV9 vectors were produced using the rBac-based system in SF9 cells. rAAV9-miR-29b or rAAV9-control-miR was injected into the kidneys of mice subjected to the model of AngII infusion. The role of miR-29b in renal fibrosis was assessed using quantitative polymerase chain reaction, western blot, and histology. RESULTS: In AngII-induced fibrotic kidney tissue, miR-29b expression was downregulated. rAAV9-miR-29b delivery significantly reversed renal injury as indicated by decreased serum creatinine and injury related gene expression in AngII-infused mice. Regarding organ remodeling, tubulointerstitial fibrosis and deposition of extracellular matrix components such as collagen type I and type III were significantly decreased in renal tissue from mice delivered rAAV9-miR-29b. CONCLUSION: Our results demonstrate great potential for use of rAAV9 as an applicable vector for delivery of miR-29b as an antifibrogenic factor for treatment of tubulointerstitial fibrosis-induced renal injury.

Rates of nontuberculous mycobacterial (NTM) disease are rapidly increasing throughout the globe. NTM disease, as an emerging infectious disease, it is very important to summarize and analyze the prevalence and main pathogenic bacteria. However, there is no relevant report in Changchun district. In the present report, 8765 clinical samples were collected between January 2017 and December 2019, we reviewed patient electronic medical records and thereby summarized the causative species associated with NTM disease in the Changchun district of China. Of 8765 clinical samples, 1987 samples yielded positive cultures. Of these cultures, 1868 (94.01%) were Mycobacterium tuberculosis, 37 (1.86%) were Mycobacterium bovis, and 82 (4.13%) were NTM. A total of 84 NTM strains were isolated from these 82 cultures, with Mycobacterium intracellulare being the most prevalent isolate therein (44.05%). NTM infection status was associated with location of residence [OR (95% CI) 3.92 (1.20-12.8)]. No apparent correlations were observed between cultured NTM species and patient clinical symptoms. Bronchiectasis was the most prevalent radiographic finding associated with NTM cases [OR (95% CI) 9.00 (1.27-63.89)]. In summary, NTM disease is a growing threat to global public health, and researchers and clinicians should thus focus on the appropriate identification of NTM species and the differentiation between NTM infections and tuberculosis.

In mammals and yeast, tail-anchored (TA) membrane proteins destined for the post-translational pathway are safely delivered to the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) membrane by a well-known targeting factor, TRC40/Get3. In contrast, the underlying mechanism for translocation of TA proteins in plants remains obscure. How this unique eukaryotic membrane-trafficking system correctly distinguishes different subsets of TA proteins destined for various organelles, including mitochondria, chloroplasts and the ER, is a key question of long standing. Here, we present crystal structures of algal ArsA1 (the Get3 homolog) in a distinct nucleotide-free open state and bound to adenylyl-imidodiphosphate. This approximately 80-kDa protein possesses a monomeric architecture, with two ATPase domains in a single polypeptide chain. It is capable of binding chloroplast (TOC34 and TOC159) and mitochondrial (TOM7) TA proteins based on features of its transmembrane domain as well as the regions immediately before and after the transmembrane domain. Several helices located above the TA-binding groove comprise the interlocking hook-like motif implicated by mutational analyses in TA substrate recognition. Our data provide insights into the molecular basis of the highly specific selectivity of interactions of algal ArsA1 with the correct sets of TA substrates before membrane targeting in plant cells.

Psoriasis is a chronic, recurrent skin disease requiring long-term management. Agents that repair the skin's barrier function are invaluable additives in topical treatments of psoriasis. This multicenter, randomized, controlled trial evaluated the efficacy and safety of a linoleic acid-ceramide-containing moisturizer (LA-Cer) for mild-to-moderate psoriasis vulgaris. We randomized 178 patients from both northern and southern regions of China into two groups: 81 patients in the control group received mometasone furoate (MF, 0.1%) cream, while MF in combination with LA-Cer was administered to 86 patients in the treatment group for 4 weeks. The LA-Cer-MF group maintained the use of moisturizer after topical glucocorticoid administration. The primary endpoint, Psoriasis Area and Severity Index 50 (PASI 50) response, revealed the superiority of LA-Cer-MF with lower relapse rates at week 8. The use of the LA-Cer-containing moisturizer as maintenance therapy resulted in a continuous improvement in the clinical state in terms of body surface area, PASI, investigators' assessment of skin dryness and desquamation, and Physician Global Assessment of Psoriasis score, and in the patients' quality of life. Thus, the LA-Cer-containing moisturizer is a promising agent to prevent and treat psoriasis as it enhances the therapeutic effect induced by topical glucocorticoids and delays relapse.
