OBJECTIVE: In this cross-sectional study, the authors aimed to examine relationships between illness perception, measured as symptom attribution, and neurobehavioral and neurocognitive outcomes among veterans with a history of traumatic brain injury (TBI). METHODS: This study included 55 treatment-seeking veterans (N=43 with adequate performance validity testing) with a remote history of TBI (80% with mild TBI). Veterans completed a clinical interview, self-report questionnaires, and a neuropsychological assessment. A modified version of the Neurobehavioral Symptom Inventory (NSI) was administered to assess neurobehavioral symptom endorsement and symptom attribution. Composite scores were calculated from standardized cognitive tests to assess specific aspects of objective cognitive functioning, including memory, executive functioning, attention and working memory, and processing speed. RESULTS: The symptoms most frequently attributed to TBI included forgetfulness, poor concentration, slowed thinking, and headaches. There was a significant positive association between symptom attribution and overall symptom endorsement (NSI total score) (r=0.675) and endorsement of specific symptom domains (NSI symptom domain scores) (r=0.506-0.674), indicating that greater attribution of symptoms to TBI was associated with greater symptom endorsement. Furthermore, linear regressions showed that symptom attribution was significantly associated with objective cognitive functioning, whereas symptom endorsement generally did not show this relationship. Specifically, greater attribution of symptoms to TBI was associated with worse executive functioning (ß=-0.34), attention and working memory (ß=-0.43), and processing speed (ß=-0.35). CONCLUSIONS: These findings suggest that veterans who routinely attribute neurobehavioral symptoms to their TBI are at greater risk of experiencing poor long-term outcomes, including elevated symptom endorsement and worse objective cognition. Although more research is needed to understand how illness perception influences outcomes in this population, these preliminary results highlight the importance of early psychoeducation regarding the anticipated course of recovery following TBI.

BACKGROUND: Obsessive slowness, a symptom of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), is characterized by compulsive behavior and significant slowness of movement. Primary obsessive slowness (POS) is defined as a condition in which a series of actions are segmented, and the patient spends an unlimited amount of time performing each action while checking each action, resulting in cessation or slowness of movement. It is often difficult to treat POS with exposure and response prevention, which is considered effective in general OCD, and no treatment has been established. Here, we discuss the effectiveness of psychoeducation and modeling using video recordings in the treatment of POS. CASE PRESENTATION: We report a case of POS in a 19-year-old woman. Each action was subdivided and ordered, and the patient could not proceed to the next action without confirming that the previous step had been performed. Therefore, she could not live her daily life independently; for instance, toileting and bathing required more than 1 h, even with assistance. After more than 5 months of long-term treatment, including pharmacotherapy, psychoeducation, and modeling with video recordings, she recovered to live her daily life independently. CONCLUSION: Psychoeducation and behavioral therapy can effectively treat POS. Particularly, modeling with video recordings would be an easy-to-use option for POS treatment.

BACKGROUND: The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of a brief family psychoeducation (BFP) programme provided by psychiatric visiting nurses on caregiver burden of family caregivers of people with schizophrenia through a cluster randomised controlled trial (cRCT). METHODS: The study was a two-arm, parallel-group cRCT. Forty-seven psychiatric visiting nurse agencies were randomly allocated to the BFP programme group (intervention group) or treatment as usual group (TAU; control group). Caregivers of people with schizophrenia were recruited by psychiatric visiting nurses using a randomly ordered list. The primary outcome was caregiver burden, measured using the Japanese version of the Zarit Burden Interview. Outcome assessments were conducted at baseline, 1-month follow-up, and 6-month follow-up. Intention-to-treat analysis was conducted to examine the effects of the BFP programme on caregiver burden. RESULTS: Thirty-four psychiatric visiting nurse agencies and 83 family caregivers of people with schizophrenia participated in the study. The participant attrition rate was less than 20%. Adherence to the program was 100%. Compared with TAU group, the BFP programme group had decreased caregiver burden. However, this improvement was not significant at 1-month follow-up (adjusted mean difference [aMD] = 0.27, 95% CI = - 5.48 to 6.03, p = 0.93, d = 0.01) or 6-month follow-up (aMD = - 2.12, 95% CI = - 7.80 to 3.56, p = 0.45, d = 0.11). CONCLUSIONS: The BFP programme provided by psychiatric visiting nurses did not achieve significant decreases in caregiver burden. This result may be attributed to the difficulty in continuing the research due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which prevented us from achieving the targeted sample size necessary to meet the statistical power requirements, as well as to the participation of caregivers with relatively low burden. However, the program had the advantage of high adherence to treatment plan. Further studies should be conducted with a larger sample size and a more diverse sample that includes caregivers with a higher care burden. BACKGROUND: Low-intensity cognitive behavioural therapy (LICBT) has been recommended as a primary intervention in the tiered care for mild to moderate generalised anxiety disorder. However, LICBT for generalised anxiety disorder are markedly diverse and efficacy data on various outcomes have not been systematically reviewed. This meta-analysis aimed to synthesise effect sizes of three NICE-recommended LICBT for generalised anxiety disorder: non-facilitated self-help, guided self-help, and psychoeducational groups. METHODS: A systematic literature review of randomised controlled trials (RCTs) examining LICBT for generalised anxiety disorder in the last 23 years (2000-2023) was conducted. Efficacy data for anxiety, depression, and worry outcomes were separately meta-analysed. The study was reported following the PRISMA guidelines. RESULTS: The systematic review identified 12 RCTs out of 1205 papers. The three meta-analyses consisted of 12 (anxiety), 11 (depression), and 9 (worry) effect sizes respectively, including total sample sizes of 1201 (anxiety), 1164 (depression), and 908 (worry). The adjusted effect sizes for reductions in anxiety (g = -0.63), depression (g = -0.48), and worry (g = -0.64) were all in the medium range, favouring LICBT over control conditions. Between-study heterogeneity was significant on anxiety and worry, with no specific moderators identified by meta-regression. CONCLUSIONS: LICBT has shown promise as an effective and efficient treatment modality for individuals with generalised anxiety disorder. Future research comparing various LICBT subtypes and treatment components will further inform clinical practice. BACKGROUND: Psychosocial interventions such as psychoeducation are increasingly being used to treat adult ADHD, both as an alternative and as a supplement to pharmacotherapy. A thorough overview of the literature on psychoeducation for adult ADHD is lacking. The objectives of this scoping review were therefore to identify the characteristics of psychoeducation interventions designed for adults with ADHD, examine how the patient experience or perspective is considered during the intervention's development and implementation, determine the typical themes covered, and explore how 'psychoeducation' is defined in these interventions. METHODS: A comprehensive search was performed to identify records in MEDLINE, Embase, PsycINFO, Web of Science, Cochrane CENTRAL, AMED, and ClinicalTrials.gov. Two or more reviewers were included in every step of the screening process and the final selection of included studies. The Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic reviews and Meta-Analyses extension for Scoping Reviews (PRISMA-ScR) checklist (Supplementary Material 1) was used to report the results, and the framework developed by Arksey and O'Malley was used as a guide throughout the scoping process. RESULTS: A total of 2121 records were identified through the literature search. After screening and full-text analysis, ten studies were included for final analysis. Most studies were conducted in Europe and followed a group format. Seven main themes were identified: Information about the diagnosis, treatment options, somatic health and ADHD, the insider perspective, ADHD and social life, coping and psychological skills, and ADHD and work. There was significant overlap in themes covered, but coverage of each theme varied. Themes deemed important by newer research, such as sexuality and gender-specific issues, were missing. Only one intervention involved patients in its development and implementation, and two interventions involved family members. There was variation in how psychoeducation was defined in the included studies, and the implications of this are discussed. CONCLUSION: The literature on psychoeducation for adult ADHD is not ready for any systematic effect estimation. Before such estimations are conducted, a shared understanding and definition of psychoeducation are needed. The involvement of end users in the development and delivery of interventions may aid reach this goal but results from this review indicate that such practices are rare.

BACKGROUND: Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT) has been documented to be effective in treating obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). However, the neurobiological basis of MBCT remains largely elusive, which makes it clinically challenging to predict which patients are more likely to respond poorly. Hence, identifying biomarkers for predicting treatment outcomes holds both scientific and clinical values. This prognostic study aims to investigate whether pre-treatment brain morphological metrics can predict the effectiveness of MBCT, compared with psycho-education (PE) as an active placebo, among patients with OCD. METHODS: A total of 32 patients with OCD were included in this prognostic study. They received magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) brain scans before treatment. Subsequently, 16 patients received 10 weeks of MBCT, while the other 16 patients underwent a 10-week PE program. The effectiveness of the treatments was primarily assessed by the reduction rate of the Yale-Brown Obsessive-Compulsive Scale (Y-BOCS) total score before and after the treatment. We investigated whether several predefined OCD-associated brain morphological metrics, selected based on prior published studies by the ENIGMA Consortium, could predict the treatment effectiveness. RESULTS: Both the MBCT and PE groups exhibited substantial reductions in Y-BOCS scores over 10 weeks of treatment, with the MBCT group showing a larger reduction. Notably, the pallidum total volume was associated with treatment effectiveness, irrespective of the intervention group. Specifically, a linear regression model utilizing the pre-treatment pallidum volume to predict the treatment effectiveness suggested that a one-cubic-centimeter increase in pallidum volume corresponded to a 22.3% decrease in the Y-BOCS total score reduction rate. CONCLUSIONS: Pallidum volume may serve as a promising predictor for the effectiveness of MBCT and PE, and perhaps, other treatments with the shared mechanisms by MBCT and PE, among patients with OCD.

BACKGROUND: Adolescents involved in criminal proceedings are significantly more likely to re-offend than a similar population diverted away from criminal justice. Adolescents who use substances and offend are at higher risk of experiencing negative social, psychological and physical problems that often persist into adulthood. There is some evidence that brief interventions combined with appropriate psychoeducation may be effective in reducing adolescent substance use. METHODS: Prospective two-armed, individually randomized internal pilot randomized controlled trial (RCT) with follow-up at 6 months. Young people across three police forces-Kent, Cornwall and Sefton-arrested in possession of class B or C illicit substances were randomly allocated to receive the ReFrame intervention or business as usual. In total, 102 participants were eligible of whom 76 consented and 73 were followed up at 6 months. Outcomes addressed offending behaviour, frequency of substance use, wellbeing and mental health. The study was conducted between February and December 2022. RESULTS: All progression criteria were met, 80% of those eligible consented, 96% adhered to their allocated treatment and 88% were followed up at the primary endpoint. CONCLUSIONS: The feasibility of conducting the pilot trial was a success and it will now proceed to a definitive RCT.

PURPOSE: Postpartum depression (PPD) and anxiety (PPA) affect nearly one-quarter (23%) of women in Canada. eHealth is a promising solution for increasing access to postpartum mental healthcare. However, a user-centered approach is not routinely taken in the development of web-enabled resources, leaving postpartum women out of critical decision-making processes. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness, usability, and user satisfaction of PostpartumCare.ca, a web-enabled psychoeducational resource for PPD and PPA, created in partnership with postpartum women in British Columbia. METHODS: Participants were randomized to either an intervention group (n = 52) receiving access to PostpartumCare.ca for four weeks, or to a waitlist control group (n = 51). Measures evaluating PPD (Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale) and PPA symptoms (Perinatal Anxiety Screening Scale) were completed at baseline, after four weeks, and after a two-week follow-up. User ratings of website usability and satisfaction and website metrics were also collected. RESULTS: PPD and PPA symptoms were significantly reduced for the intervention group only after four weeks, with improvements maintained after a two-week follow-up, corresponding with small-to-medium effect sizes (PPD: partial η2 = 0.03; PPA: partial η2 = 0.04). Intervention participants were also more likely than waitlist controls to recover from clinical levels of PPD symptoms (χ 2 (1, n = 63) = 4.58, p = .032) and PostpartumCare.ca's usability and satisfaction were rated favourably overall. CONCLUSION: Findings suggest that a web-enabled psychoeducational resource, created in collaboration with patient partners, can effectively reduce PPD and PPA symptoms, supporting its potential use as a low-barrier option for postpartum women. BACKGROUND: Mental health (MH) problems in youth are prevalent, burdening, and frequently persistent. Despite the existence of effective treatment, the uptake of professional help is low, particularly due to attitudinal barriers. OBJECTIVE: This study evaluated the effectiveness and acceptability of 2 video-based microinterventions aimed at reducing barriers to MH treatment and increasing the likelihood of seeking professional help in young people. METHODS: This study was entirely web based and open access. The interventions addressed 5 MH problems: generalized anxiety disorder, depression, bulimia, nonsuicidal self-injury, and problematic alcohol use. Intervention 1 aimed to destigmatize and improve MH literacy, whereas intervention 2 aimed to induce positive outcome expectancies regarding professional help seeking. Of the 2435 participants who commenced the study, a final sample of 1394 (57.25%) participants aged 14 to 29 years with complete data and sufficient durations of stay on the video pages were randomized in a fully automated manner to 1 of the 5 MH problems and 1 of 3 conditions (control, intervention 1, and intervention 2) in a permuted block design. After the presentation of a video vignette, no further videos were shown to the control group, whereas a second, short intervention video was presented to the intervention 1 and 2 groups. Intervention effects on self-reported potential professional help seeking (primary outcome), stigma, and attitudes toward help seeking were examined using analyses of covariance across and within the 5 MH problems. Furthermore, we assessed video acceptability. RESULTS: No significant group effects on potential professional help seeking were found in the total sample (F2,1385=0.99; P=.37). However, the groups differed significantly with regard to stigma outcomes and the likelihood of seeking informal help (F2,1385=3.75; P=.02). Furthermore, separate analyses indicated substantial differences in intervention effects among the 5 MH problems. CONCLUSIONS: Interventions to promote help seeking for MH problems may require disorder-specific approaches. The study results can inform future research and public health campaigns addressing adolescents and young adults. BACKGROUND: Primary headaches, including migraine and tension-type headaches, are widespread and have a social, physical, mental, and economic impact. Among the key components of treatment are behavior interventions such as lifestyle modification. Scalable conversational agents (CAs) have the potential to deliver behavior interventions at a low threshold. To our knowledge, there is no evidence of behavioral interventions delivered by CAs for the treatment of headaches. OBJECTIVE: This study has 2 aims. The first aim was to develop and test a smartphone-based coaching intervention (BalanceUP) for people experiencing frequent headaches, delivered by a CA and designed to improve mental well-being using various behavior change techniques. The second aim was to evaluate the effectiveness of BalanceUP by comparing the intervention and waitlist control groups and assess the engagement and acceptance of participants using BalanceUP. METHODS: In an unblinded randomized controlled trial, adults with frequent headaches were recruited on the web and in collaboration with experts and allocated to either a CA intervention (BalanceUP) or a control condition. The effects of the treatment on changes in the primary outcome of the study, that is, mental well-being (as measured by the Patient Health Questionnaire Anxiety and Depression Scale), and secondary outcomes (eg, psychosomatic symptoms, stress, headache-related self-efficacy, intention to change behavior, presenteeism and absenteeism, and pain coping) were analyzed using linear mixed models and Cohen d. Primary and secondary outcomes were self-assessed before and after the intervention, and acceptance was assessed after the intervention. Engagement was measured during the intervention using self-reports and usage data. RESULTS: A total of 198 participants (mean age 38.7, SD 12.14 y; n=172, 86.9% women) participated in the study (intervention group: n=110; waitlist control group: n=88). After the intervention, the intention-to-treat analysis revealed evidence for improved well-being (treatment: ß estimate=-3.28, 95% CI -5.07 to -1.48) with moderate between-group effects (Cohen d=-0.66, 95% CI -0.99 to -0.33) in favor of the intervention group. We also found evidence of reduced somatic symptoms, perceived stress, and absenteeism and presenteeism, as well as improved headache management self-efficacy, application of behavior change techniques, and pain coping skills, with effects ranging from medium to large (Cohen d=0.43-1.05). Overall, 64.8% (118/182) of the participants used coaching as intended by engaging throughout the coaching and completing the outro. CONCLUSIONS: BalanceUP was well accepted, and the results suggest that coaching delivered by a CA can be effective in reducing the burden of people who experience headaches by improving their well-being. PURPOSE: To develop, implement and assess the results of psychoeducation to improve the QoL of parents with CHD newborns. METHODS: Participants were parents of inpatient newborns with the diagnosis of non-syndromic CHD. We conducted a parallel RCT with an allocation ratio of 1:1 (intervention vs. control), considering the newborns, using mixed methods research. The intervention group received psychoeducation (Parental Psychoeducation in CHD [PPeCHD]) and the usual routines, and the control group received just the regular practices. The allocation concealment was assured. PI was involved in enrolling participants, developing and implementing the intervention, data collection and data analysis. We followed the Consolidated Standards of Reporting Trials (CONSORT) guidelines. RESULTS: Parents of eight newborns were allocated to the intervention group (n = 15 parents) and eight to the control group (n = 13 parents). It was performed as an intention-to-treat (ITT) analysis. In M2 (4 weeks), the intervention group presented better QoL levels in the physical, psychological, and environmental domains of World Health Organization Quality of Life instrument (WHOQOL-Bref). In M3 (16 weeks), scores in physical and psychological domains maintained a statistically significant difference between the groups. CONCLUSIONS: The PPeCHD, the psychoeducational intervention we developed, positively impacted parental QoL. These results support the initial hypothesis. This study is a fundamental milestone in this research field, adding new essential information to the literature.

Emerging evidence supports a phased approach to trauma treatment, including manualised group-based interventions, to facilitate symptom reduction resulting from complex trauma sequelae. This study investigates the efficacy of Survive and Thrive, a 10-week group psychoeducational course for adult survivors of interpersonal trauma. Between August 2019 and February 2022, participants were enrolled on the course. The Clinical Outcomes in Routine Evaluation-Outcome Measure (CORE-OM) and Difficulties in Emotion Regulation Scale-Short Form (DERS-SF) were administered pre-intervention and immediately post-intervention. In addition, thematic analysis was applied to qualitative feedback. Results revealed significant reductions in CORE-OM and DERS-SF scores post-intervention, with minimal variability in scores attributed to group delivery (either face-to-face or online). The thematic analysis demonstrated that normalising trauma symptoms and providing coping skills positively impacted participants' experiences. At the same time, the breadth and nature of the content were observed to be an occasional barrier to engagement. In summary, this study proposes that group-based psychoeducational interventions are generally effective for those with mild-to-moderate symptoms of complex trauma. However, further evidence is needed to offer more nuanced recommendations for identifying individuals who may benefit the most from these interventions.

BACKGROUND: The biopsychosocial model is fundamental for the understanding and treatment of chronic pain; however, little research has focused on whether those affected show a biopsychosocial understanding. The multidimensional questionnaire Biopsychosocial Pain Concept Matrix (BiPS matrix) is presented. The conception of the BiPS matrix is based on the biological, psychological and social areas as well as on the common sense model of self-regulation with five dimensions: (1) type of disorder, (2) assumptions on the causes, (3) consequences, (4) duration of the disease and (5) possibilities for control and treatment. OBJECTIVE: The present study aims to examine the content relevance and comprehension of the areas, dimensions and items, including the use of the BiPS matrix with children by interdisciplinary expert ratings. The questionnaire can be perspectively used by treating professionals for diagnostic purposes. METHOD: In an online study 17 experts were questioned. In addition to descriptive statistics, comments were evaluated using qualitative content analysis according to Mayring. RESULTS: All experts rated the assessment of pain concepts with the BiPS matrix as well as the areas and dimensions as very relevant. With respect to the items, suggestions were made mainly regarding the wording of the items and adjustments for children. DISCUSSION: From an expert point of view the BiPS matrix represents a relevant instrument. Further research on the psychometric properties of the BiPS matrix in adults and children is indicated. In addition, the BiPS matrix can also be used to investigate pain concepts of medical and psychotherapeutic professional groups to demonstrate the biopsychosocial understanding of pain and the associated treatment options.

BACKGROUND: Despite the importance of assessing the quality with which low-intensity (LI) group psychoeducational interventions are delivered, no measure of treatment integrity (TI) has been developed. AIMS: To develop a psychometrically robust TI measure for LI psychoeducational group interventions. METHOD: This study had two phases. Firstly, the group psychoeducation treatment integrity measure-expert rater (GPTIM-ER) and a detailed scoring manual were developed. This was piloted by n=5 expert raters rating the same LI group session; n=6 expert raters then assessed content validity. Secondly, 10 group psychoeducational sessions drawn from routine practice were then rated by n=8 expert raters using the GPTIM-ER; n=9 patients also rated the quality of the group sessions using a sister version (i.e. GPTIM-P) and clinical and service outcome data were drawn from the LI groups assessed. RESULTS: The GPTIM-ER had excellent internal reliability, good test-retest reliability, but poor inter-rater reliability. The GPTIM-ER had excellent content validity, construct validity, formed a single factor scale and had reasonable predictive validity. CONCLUSIONS: The GPTIM-ER has promising, but not complete, psychometric properties. The low inter-rater reliability scores between expert raters are the main ongoing concern and so further development and testing is required in future well-constructed studies.

OBJECTIVES: High levels of caregiver burden (CB) are experienced by informal caregivers of pediatric patients with cancer. There is increasing evidence highlighting the extent of CB across sub-Saharan African countries, although there remains lack of interventions that target improvements in their experience. This study aimed to determine the impact of a structured psychoeducation program on caregivers' outcomes relating to preparedness to provide care, burden of caregiving, and quality of life (QoL). METHODS: This quasi-experimental (pre-and-posttest) design, involved family caregivers of children on admission for cancer treatment in 4 Nigerian tertiary hospitals. Eligible participants received 2 structured, psychoeducational training sessions delivered by a multidisciplinary oncology team, focusing on the management of patients' condition, spiritual care, self-care, and support. RESULTS: Subjects were mainly female (79.5%) and mostly mothers to children undergoing cancer treatment (74.7%). Commonest cancer type was acute lymphoblastic leukemia (23.9%) with evidence of metastatic disease found in 9.6% of children. Significant improvements were observed between pre- and posttest for unmet needs (z = -9.3; p < 0.001), preparedness for caregiving in palliative care (PCPC) (z = -7.0; p < 0.001), and overall QoL (z = -7.3; p < 0.001). A significant reduction in CB was also reported (z = -8.7; p < 0.001). SIGNIFICANCE OF RESULTS: This psychoeducational intervention (PEI) resulted in significant improvements in unmet needs, CB and significant improvements in PCPC. However, a reduction in QoL of the family caregivers was also observed. Findings from this study should encourage the use of well-crafted PEIs, delivered within hospital settings to promote improvements in outcomes for informal caregivers of hospitalized children suffering from cancer, in an African context. Further intervention development is required to better understand intervention components influencing changes in outcomes, while exploring feasibility testing and adaptation to similar settings in Nigeria and within Africa.

INTRODUCTION: The activity of podcasting has increased exponentially but little is known about the qualitative listener experiences of podcasts related to mental health. The aim of this study was to understand what listeners of mental health podcasts obtain from this medium. Participants were asked questions relating to mental health literacy, stigma and help-seeking behaviour. METHODS: The study gathered data, via an online survey (n=722). This article reports on the responses to open-ended questions: 'What do you take away from listening to mental health-related podcasts? What do you learn about yourself (or a loved one)? What do you find most useful about listening to mental health-related podcasts?' Inductive thematic analysis was utilised. RESULTS: Thematic analysis produced five core themes: accessibility, mental health literacy, potential pitfalls, reassurance and lived experiences. Accessibility of material and discussions featuring professionals and people with lived experience were reported key highlights. CONCLUSION: Results indicate that podcasts influence the development of mental health literacy, reduce stigma and increase help-seeking. Given the challenges with service access in underserved populations, there is a potential role for the use of podcasts in rural regions.

RESUMO

Research indicates that the suicide attempt rate among American Muslims is at least twice the rate of the national US average and follows a different trend of suicide behavior compared to other groups. Religious leaders, such as Imams, are commonly sought out for support, but many lack training in mental health crisis management. The Stanford Muslim Mental Health and Islamic Psychology Lab created the Muslim Community Suicide Response Manual and its accompanying training modules to address this issue. This paper describes the creation, evolution, and future directions of the Suicide Response Training from an Islamic perspective to reduce suicide risk in Muslim communities.

OBJECTIVE: Aim: To substantiate the possibilities of developing a comprehensive system of psychosocial support for Ukrainians during and after the war through thedevelopment of an integrated model of psychosocial service provision in the community, which promotes cross-sectoral interaction and expands the possibilities of integrating and scaling up multiple levels of mental health interventions. PATIENTS AND METHODS: Materials and Methods: The article is based on the use of bibliosemantic analysis of scientific works on the topic of mental health and mental health during the war. CONCLUSION: Conclusions: It is emphasised that in developing a comprehensive system of psychosocial support, it is necessary to: ensure accessibility of services for those in need; integrate services into the general health and social protection system; use a multisectoral approach, involving various organisations, institutions and professionals; train professionals to work in war conditions; develop and implement psychoeducation and psychological support programmes; monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of programmes. Particular attention is paid to psychoeducation as a technology that can be used at different levels of psychological intervention by both mental health professionals and other specialists involved in the provision of social services in communities. The spread of the impact of psychoeducational programmes will contribute to the development of community resilience in the face of social and psychological risks provoked by the war. A mechanism for scaling up the capabilities of the Technical Working Group on Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS TWG), an association of leading international and Ukrainian NGOs specialising in mental health, established in Ukraine with the support of the WHO and the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, is proposed. The idea of creating a network of Resilience Centres in communities with the aim of forming a comprehensive system of psychosocial support at the state and community levels is substantiated.

This study was conducted to examine the effect of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)-based psychoeducation on anger control and death anxiety in individuals receiving chemotherapy. The research was completed as a pretest-posttest experimental design with 80 individuals who received chemotherapy (40 control, 40 experimental). The data were collected using the Personal Information Form, the Controlled Anger Scale (CAR), and the Death Anxiety Scale (DAS). Individuals in the experimental group received eight sessions of CBT-based psychoeducation. We used percent distribution, chi-square test, and t test for dependent and independent groups were used to analyze the data. This study demonstrated that the gap among between the pretest and posttest total scores of the anger scale and death anxiety scale of the individuals in the CBT-based psychoeducation experimental group receiving chemotherapy was statistically significant (p < .05). CBT-based psychoeducation can be recommended as a professional psycho-oncology practice to improve the anger and anxiety in individuals with cancer.

Addictions are invading our daily lives. Eating and body image have become major preoccupations. Anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa are eating disorders with a high risk of chronicity and death. Curing them and preventing their recurrence requires a solid therapeutic alliance that aims to work around individual symptoms. The low self-esteem associated with these disorders may contribute to their maintenance, despite their negative impact on quality of life. One of the challenges of treating these disorders is to help patients find the motivation to seek treatment.
