The European Union (EU) has set a 37.5% GHG reduction target in 2030 for the mobility sector, relative to 1990 levels. This requires increasing the share of zero-emission passenger vehicles, mainly in the form of electric vehicles (EVs). This study calculates future GHG emissions related to passenger vehicle manufacturing and use based on stated policy goals of EU Member States for EV promotion. Under these policies, by 2040 the stock of EVs would be about 73 times larger than those of 2020, contributing to a cumulative in-use emission reduction of 2.0 gigatons CO2-eq. Nevertheless, this stated EV adoption will not be sufficiently fast to reach the EU's GHG reduction targets, and some of the GHG environmental burdens may be shifted to the EV battery manufacturing countries. To achieve the 2030 reduction targets, the EU as a whole needs to accelerate the phase-out of internal combustion engine vehicles and transit to e-mobility at the pace of the most ambitious Member States, such that EVs can comprise at least 55% of the EU passenger vehicle fleet in 2030. An accelerated decarbonization of the electricity system will become the most critical prerequisite for minimizing GHG emissions from both EV manufacturing and in-use stages.

International migration has increased since 1990, with increasing numbers of migrants originating from low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). Efforts to explain this compositional shift have focused on wage gaps and other push and pull factors but have not adequately considered the role of demographic factors. In many LMICs, child mortality has fallen without commensurate economic growth and amid high fertility. This combination increases young adult populations and is associated with greater outmigration: in the poorest countries, we estimate that a one-percentage-point increase in the five-year lagged growth rate of the population of 15-24-year-olds was associated with a 15 per cent increase in all-age outmigrants, controlling for other factors. Increases in growth of young adult populations led to 20.4 million additional outmigrants across 80 countries between 1990 and 2015. Understanding the determinants of these migration shifts should help policymakers in origin and destination countries to maximize their potential positive effects.

We administered the Assessment of Readiness for Mobility Transition (ARMT) to 301 older drivers and compared total scores with participant characteristics. Overall, 18% of participants were not attitudinally ready for mobility transition, while 19% were very ready. Notably, participants with hospitalizations in the past year were either very ready for mobility transition (20% vs 14% without hospitalizations) or not ready at all (30% vs 17%). Significant health events may polarize reactions towards mobility transition. Individualizing communication about driving cessation readiness could help address such differing views. To further consider its effectiveness, ARMT could be utilized in mobility transition counseling interventions.

Objective To investigate the effects of dexmedetomidine (DEX) on the nuclear factor-KB inhibitor protein kinase (IKK)/nuclear factor-KB inhibitor protein a (IKB(X)/nuclear factor-KB (N F - K B) pathway and cognitive dysfunction in rats with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) . Methods Rats were randomly divided into control group, model group, positive group and DEX group. Except for the control group, the PTSD model was constructed by single prolonged stress method (SPS), and the corresponding drugs were given after the completion the model. Open field test and Morris water maze method were used to detect the autonomous activity, learning and memory ability of rats; HE staining was used to observe the morphological characteristics of cerebral cortex and hippocampus; ELISA and Western blotting were used to detect the contents of interleukin (IL)-1(3, IL-6, tumor necrosis factor a (TNF-a) and the expression levels of IKK, IKB(X, purinergic ligand-gated ion channel 7 receptor (P2X7R), leucine-rich repeat domain protein 3(NALP3) in hippocampus; the NF-KB activity was assessed by electrophoretic mobility shift assay (EMSA). Results Compared with the control group, the cerebral cortex and hippocampal CA1 region of model group were in structural disorders, nuclear pyysis and other pathological changes happend, learning and memory ability of rats decreased (P < 0. 05), contents of IL-lp, IL-6 and TNF-a, expression levels of IKK, IKB(X, P2X7R and NALP3, NF-KB activity in hippocampus increased (P<0. 05); Compared with the model group, the pathological phenomena in cerebral cortex and hippocampal CA1 area of rats in positive group and DEX group were in alleviated, and the changes of the above indexes were opposite to those of model group (P<0. 05) . Conclusion DEX can significantly improve the autonomous activity ability and learning and memory ability in PTSD rats, reduce inflammatory reaction in hippocampus and improve cognitive dysfunction, which may be related to the down-regulation of IKK/TKBQ!/NF-KB pathway.
