Artes visuais na cidade: relações estéticas e constituição dos sujeitos / Visual arts in the city: aesthetic relations and subjectivity

RESUMO

As relações que as pessoas estabelecem com o entorno urbano nacontemporaneidade são fundamentalmente relações práticoutilitárias,constituídas no desempenho das atividades cotidianas.Nesse sentido, demonstra-se que a arte visual urbana pode favorecera formação de relações outras entre sujeito e cidade, possibilitandovivências estéticas que venham a modificar e ampliar essas relações,além de promover uma educação estética pela sensibilização doolhar. No presente artigo, apresentam-se reflexões sobre essasquestões, considerando as conseqüências da modernização dascidades e do modernismo na arte para a vivência estética atual emcontextos urbanos. Ganham destaque, nesse intento, as relaçõesdo ser humano com as artes visuais na cidade e a discussão sobre aimportância da experiência estética e da educação estética naconstituição dos sujeitos.

ABSTRACT

The contemporary relations that people establish with the city arepredominantly practical and utilitarian, constituted in theperformance of daily activities. It is demonstrated that urban visualarts can promote the formation of other relations between thesubject and the city, favoring aesthetic experiences that come tomodify and amplify those relations and to promote an aestheticeducation through the sensibility of the eyes. This article presentsreflections on those issues, considering the consequences ofmodernization of cities and modernism in art for current aestheticexperiences in urban contexts. In that sense, emphasis is given tohuman beings’ relations with visual arts in the city and a discussionabout the relevance of the aesthetic experience and education inthe constitution of subjects.
