RESUMEN

Incidence of multiple synchronic carcinomas is on rise. It may be attributed to improvements in diagnostic technology and other factors, as well. The authors wish to share their experience in this case review dealing with the synchronic colorectal carcinoma and carcinoma of the left kidney, with literature data added. The causative factors of the multiple tumors should be searched for at subcellural levels. They result from genetic transformations in a particular patient and may also be affected by environmental factors. It must be remembered, that cancer need not affect a single organ system. However, a single organ system may be affected by cancer in several locations, which must be born in mind when a diagnosis is made.

RESUMEN

The authors present a group of 49 patients treated over the period of ten years for the Osgood-Schlatter disease. Conservative treatment was employed in 5 patients and 44 patients were treated surgically by the excision of the loose fragment of apophysis. On the basis of the evaluation of the data the authors state that on average 40 months after operation there was no improvement of the condition in as many as 34 per cent of patients and they were not satisfied with the result of operation. After the analysis of the potential causes of failures they stress the necessity of deliberate indication for operation and the priority of the conservative treatment.

RESUMEN

In a 38-year-old female patient during surgery of a femoral hernia by the crural approach injury-two stitches of the femoral vein occurred which was not noticed during surgery. After surgery a haematoma developed in the wound from lacerarion of the venous wall. The haematoma was evacuated and the wound healed secondarily. From the first postoperative day swelling of the thigh and foreknee. This finding called after some time for a duplex sonographic and phlebographic examination. Stenosis of the femoral vein, 35 mm in length, and with a 3 mm diameter of the vein was found. Three months after injury of the vein re-operation was performed. During the latter the stitches which stenotized the vein were released and a partial resection of the inguinal ligament was made. Shortly after surgery the oedema receded and the stenosis dilated to a diameter of 8 mm. At present the patient has no complaints.

RESUMEN

The authors present a unique case-history of adenocarcinoma of the gallbladder detected on laparoscopic surgery and the surprising favourable postoperative course considering the diagnosis. They draw attention to the difficult preoperative diagnosis of adenocarcinoma of the gallbladder and the necessity of a radical approach to the surgical solution.
