BACKGROUND: Edaravone dexborneol has been reported as an effective neuroprotective agent in the treatment of acute ischemic stroke (AIS). This study aimed at investigating the impact of edaravone dexborneol on functional outcomes and systematic inflammatory response in AIS patient. METHODS: All participants were recruited from the AISRNA study (registered 21/11/2019, NCT04175691 [ClinicalTrials.gov]) between January 2022 and December 2022. The AIS patients were divided into two groups based on whether they received the treatment of edaravone dexborneol (37.5 mg/12 hours, IV) within 48 h after stroke onset. Inflammatory response was determined by detecting levels of cytokines (interleukin-2 [IL-2], IL-4, IL-5, IL-8, IL-6, IL-10, IL-12p70, IL-17, tumor necrosis factor-α [TNF-α], interferon-γ [IFN-γ], IFN-α, and IL-1ß) within 14 days after stroke onset. RESULTS: Eighty-five AIS patients were included from the AISRNA study. Patients treated with edaravone dexborneol showed a significantly higher proportion of modified Rankin Scale score < 2 compared to those who did not receive this treatment (70.7% versus 47.8%; P = 0.031). Furthermore, individuals receiving edaravone dexborneol injection exhibited lower expression levels of interleukin (IL)-1ß, IL-6, and IL-17, along with higher levels of IL-4 and IL-10 expression during the acute phase of ischemic stroke (P < 0.05). These trends were not observed for IL-2, IL-5, IL-8, IL-12p70, tumor necrosis factor-α, interferon-γ [IFN-γ], and IFN-α (P > 0.05). CONCLUSIONS: Treatment with edaravone dexborneol resulted in a favorable functional outcome at 90 days post-stroke onset when compared to patients without this intervention; it also suppressed proinflammatory factors expression while increasing anti-inflammatory factors levels. The rational design of efficient and multifunctional electrocatalysts for energy conversion devices is one of the major challenges for clean and renewable energy transition. Herein, the local electronic structure of cobalt-platinum nanoclusters is regulated by adjacent platinum atomic site encapsulated in N-doped hollow carbon nanotubes (PtSA -PtCo NCs/N-CNTs) by pyrolysis of melamine-orientation-induced zeolite imidazole metal-organic frameworks (ZIF-67) with thimbleful platinum doping. The introduction of melamine can reactivate adjacent carbon atoms and initiate the oriented growth of nitrogen-doped carbon nanotubes. The systematic analysis suggests the significant role of thimbleful neighboring low-coordinated Pt─N2 in altering the localized electronic structure of PtCo nanoclusters. The optimized PtSA -PtCo NCs/N-CNTs-900 exhibit excellent hydrogen evolution reaction (HER)/oxygen evolution reaction (OER)/oxygen reduction reaction (ORR)/ catalytic performance reaching the current density of 10 mA cm-2 in 1 m KOH under the low 47 (HER) and 252 mV (OER) overpotentials, and a high half-wave potential of 0.86 and 0.89 V (ORR) in 0.1 m KOH and 0.1 m HClO4 , respectively. Remarkably, the PtSA -PtCo NC/N-CNT-900 also presents outstanding catalytic performances toward water splitting and rechargeable Zn-air batteries. The theoretical calculations reveal that optimal regulation of the electronic structure of PtCo nanoclusters by thimbleful neighboring Pt atomic reduces the reaction energy barrier in electrochemical process, facilitating the ORR/OER/HER performance.

PURPOSE: The aim of the present study was to develop a nomogram for prognostic prediction of patients with lung cancer in hospice. METHODS: The data was collected from 1106 lung cancer patients in hospice between January 2008 and December 2018. The data were split into a training set, which was used to identify the most important prognostic factors by the least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) and to build the nomogram, while the testing set was used to validate the nomogram. The performance of the nomogram was assessed by c-index, calibration curve and the decision curve analysis (DCA). RESULTS: A total of 1106 patients, including 835 (75%) from the training set and 271 (25%) from testing set, were retrospectively analyzed in this study. Using the LASSO regression, 5 most important prognostic predictors that included sex, Karnofsky Performance Scale (KPS), quality-of-life (QOL), edema and anorexia, were selected out of 28 variables. Validated c-indexes of training set at 15, 30, and 90 days were .778 [.737-.818], .776 [.743-.809], and .751 [.713-.790], respectively. Similarly, the validated c-indexes of testing set at 15, 30, and 90 days were .789 [.714-.864], .748 [.685-.811], and .757 [.691-.823], respectively. The nomogram-predicted survival was well calibrated, as the predicted probabilities were close to the expected probabilities. Moreover, the DCA curve showed that nomogram received superior standardized net benefit at a broad threshold. CONCLUSIONS: The study built a non-lab nomogram with important predictor to analyze the clinical parameters using LASSO. It may be a useful tool to allow clinicians to easily estimate the prognosis of the patients with lung cancer in hospice.

Developing novel heterojunction photocatalysts with visible-light response and remarkable photocatalytic activity have been verified to applying for the photodegradation of antibiotics in water environment. Herein, NH2-MIL-125(Ti) was integrated with flowerlike ZnIn2S4 to construct NH2-MIL-125(Ti)@ZnIn2S4 heterostructure using a one-pot solvothermal method. The photocatalytic performance was evaluated by the degradation of tetracycline (TC) under visible light illumination. The optimized NM(2%)@ZIS possesses a photodegradation rate (92.8%) and TOC removal efficiency (58.5%) superior to pristine components, which can be principally attributed to the positive cooperative effects of well-matched energy level positions, strong visible-light-harvesting capacity, and abundant coupling interfaces between the two. Moreover, the probable TC degradation mechanism was also clarified using the active species trapping experiments. This study inspires further design and construction of NH2-MIL-125(Ti) and ZnIn2S4 based photocatalysts for effective removal of antibiotics in water environment.

BACKGROUND: Micronucleus (MN) is an abnormal fragment in a human cell caused by disorders in the mechanism regulating chromosome segregation. It can be used as a biomarker for genotoxicity, tumor risk, and tumor malignancy. The in vitro micronucleus assay is a commonly used method to detect micronucleus. However, it is time-consuming and the visual scoring can be inconsistent. METHODS: To alleviate this issue, we proposed a computer-aided diagnosis method combining convolutional neural networks and visual attention for micronucleus recognition. The backbone of our model is AlexNet without any dense layers and it is pretrained on the ImageNet dataset. Two attention modules are applied to extract cell image features and generate attention maps highlighting the region of interest to improve the interpretability of the network. Given the problems in the data set, we leverage data augmentation and focal loss to alleviate the impact. RESULTS: Experiments show that the proposed network yields better performance with fewer parameters. The AP value, F1 value and AUC value reach 0.932, 0.811 and 0.995, respectively. CONCLUSION: In conclusion, the proposed network can effectively recognize micronucleus, and it can play an auxiliary role in clinical diagnosis by doctors.

BACKGROUND: Reports have proven that shorter door-to-needle time (DTN time) indicates better outcomes in AIS patients received intravenous thrombolysis. Efforts have been made by hospitals and centers to minimize DTN time in many ways including introducing a stroke nurse. However, there are few studies to discuss the specific effect of stroke nurse on patients' prognosis. This study aimed to compare consecutive AIS patients before and after the intervention to analyze the effect of stroke nurse on clinical outcome of AIS patients. METHODS: In this retrospective study, we observed 1003 patients from November 2016 to December 2020 dividing in two groups, collected and analyzed AIS patients' medical history, clinical assessment information, important timelines, 90 mRS score, etc. Comparative analysis and mediation analysis were also used in this study. RESULTS: A total of 418 patients was included in this study, and 199 patients were enrolled in the stroke nurse group and 219 was in the preintervention group. Baseline characteristics of patients showed no significant difference except there seems more patients with previous ischemic stroke history in the group of stroke nurse. (p = 0.008). The median DTN time significantly decreased in the stroke nurse group (25 min versus 36 min, p < 0.001) and multivariate logistic regression analysis showed the 90-day mRS clinical outcome significantly improved in the stroke nurse group (p = 0.001). Mediation analysis indicated the reduction of DTN time plays a partial role on the 90 days mRS score and the stroke nurse has some direct effect on the improvement of clinical outcome (p = 0.006). CONCLUSIONS: The introduction of stroke nurse is beneficial to clinical outcome of AIS patients and can be use of reference in other hospitals or centers.

BACKGROUND: To evaluate a modified technique for involutional entropion correction in a retrospective cohort study. METHODS: The patients with involutional entropion eyelid were corrected by tightening the pretarsal orbicularis oculi muscle and excising the excess skin of the lower eyelid. The patients received correction surgery from April 2013 to March 2019 were followed up for more than 6 months postoperatively. The outcome measures included the complications and the recurrence rates. RESULTS: Total 152 patients (169 eyes) were included. The mean follow-up period was 29.6 months (range: 6-36 months). Postoperative ectropion (over-correction) was observed in 1 patient with 1 eyelid (0.59%); yet, no further surgery was needed for this patient. Recurrence of entropion was found in 1 patient (0.59%). The patient with recurrent entropion received repeated surgery with the same method and achieved a good eyelid position. CONCLUSIONS: This study demonstrated that tightening the pretarsal orbicularis oculi muscle and excising the excess skin of the lower eyelid could be an effective surgical method to correct lower eyelid involutional entropion. This method is technically easy with a low recurrence rate and not associated with significant complications in Asians.

BACKGROUND AND AIM: This meta-analysis aims to explore the risk of colorectal polyps among non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) patients. METHODS: We searched PubMed, EMBASE, and Cochrane library databases using predefined search term to identify eligible studies (published up to 7 November 2019). Data from selected studies were extracted by using a standardized information collection form, and meta-analyses were performed using random-effects model. The statistical heterogeneity among studies (I2 ), subgroup analyses, meta-regression analyses, and the possibility of publication bias were assessed. RESULTS: Twenty observational (12 cross-sectional, two case-control, and six cohort) studies met the eligibility criteria, involving 142 387 asymptomatic adults. In cross-sectional/case-control studies, NAFLD was found to be associated with an increased risk of colorectal polyps (odds ratio [OR] = 1.34; 95% confidence interval [CI] = 1.23-1.47) (including unclassified colorectal polyps, hyperplastic polyps, adenomas, and cancers) with statistically significant heterogeneity (I2  = 67.8%; P < 0.001). NAFLD was also associated with a higher risk of incident colorectal polyps (hazard ratio = 1.60; 95% CI = 1.36-1.87) with low heterogeneity (I2  = 21.8%; P = 0.263) in longitudinal studies. The severity of NAFLD was associated with a higher risk of colorectal adenomas (OR = 1.57; 95% CI = 1.30-1.88), but not colorectal cancer (OR = 1.37; 95% CI = 0.92-2.03). The subgroup analysis according to gender showed that NAFLD was significantly associated with a higher risk of colorectal polyps in the male population without significant heterogeneity (OR = 1.47; 95% CI = 1.29-1.67, I2  = 0%), but not in the female population (OR = 0.88; 95% CI = 0.60-1.29, I2  = 34.2%). CONCLUSIONS: NAFLD was associated with an increased risk of colorectal polyps. There was a significant difference of the relationship between genders, which suggested more precise screening colonoscopy recommendation in NAFLD patients according to gender.

BACKGROUND: Patients suffering from gastrointestinal cancer comprise a large group receiving home hospice care in China, however, little is known about the prediction of their survival time. This study aimed to develop a gastrointestinal cancer-specific non-lab nomogram predicting survival time in home-based hospice. METHODS: We retrospectively studied the patients with gastrointestinal cancer from a home-based hospice between 2008 and 2018. General baseline characteristics, disease-related characteristics, and related assessment scale scores were collected from the case records. The data were randomly split into a training set (75%) for developing a predictive nomogram and a testing set (25%) for validation. A non-lab nomogram predicting the 30-day and 60-day survival probability was created using the least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) Cox regression. We evaluated the performance of our predictive model by means of the area under receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC) and calibration curve. RESULTS: A total of 1618 patients were included and divided into two sets: 1214 patients (110 censored) as training dataset and 404 patients (33 censored) as testing dataset. The median survival time for overall included patients was 35 days (IQR, 17-66). The 5 most significant prognostic variables were identified to construct the nomogram among all 28 initial variables, including Karnofsky Performance Status (KPS), abdominal distention, edema, quality of life (QOL), and duration of pain. In training dataset validation, the AUC at 30 days and 60 days were 0.723 (95% CI, 0.694-0.753) and 0.733 (95% CI, 0.702-0.763), respectively. Similarly, the AUC value was 0.724 (0.673-0.774) at 30 days and 0.725 (0.672-0.778) at 60 days in the testing dataset validation. Further, the calibration curves revealed good agreement between the nomogram predictions and actual observations in both the training and testing dataset. CONCLUSION: This non-lab nomogram may be a useful clinical tool. It needs prospective multicenter validation as well as testing with Chinese clinicians in charge of hospice patients with gastrointestinal cancer to assess acceptability and usability.

Pancreatic ß cell damage is one of the crucial factors responsible for the development of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Previous studies have suggested that puerarin (PR) could regulate the activities of the mitochondrial respiratory chain complex in diabetic nephropathy (DN); however, whether PR can inhibit pancreatic ß-cell apoptosis in T2DM remains to be elucidated. In the present study, T2DM mice induced by high-fat diet and streptozotocin (STZ) injection were used as a working model to investigate the mechanism of PR on pancreatic ß cell apoptosis. The results showed that PR decreased the serum fasting blood glucose (FBG), total cholesterol (TC), triglyceride (TG) and low-density lipoprotein (LDL) levels but significantly increased the fasting blood insulin (FINS) and high-density lipoprotein (HDL) levels. Furthermore, decreased caspase-3, 8, 9 and apoptosis-inducing factor (AIF) proteins in the pancreas were detected by Western blot analysis. Terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase-mediated dUTP nick end labelling (TUNEL) staining demonstrated that the pancreatic ß cell apoptosis was inhibited by PR. Furthermore, PR improved the histopathological changes in pancreatic tissue in T2DM mice. Collectively, the data show that PR can protect the ß cells from apoptotic death in a mouse model of T2DM through regulating the expression of apoptosis-related protein-AIF and caspase family proteins.

Studies have demonstrated that microvesicles (MVs) derived from human Wharton's Jelly mesenchymal stromal cells (hWJMSCs) could ameliorate renal ischemia/reperfusion injury (IRI); however, the underlying mechanisms were not clear yet. Here, MVs were isolated and injected intravenously into rats immediately after ischemia of the left kidney, and Erk1/2 activator hepatocyte growth factor (HGF) or inhibitor U0126 was administrated. Tubular cell proliferation and apoptosis were identified by Ki67 or terminal-deoxynucleotidyl transferase-mediated nick end labeling immunostaining. Masson's tri-chrome straining and alpha-smooth muscle actin staining were used for assessing renal fibrosis. The mRNA or protein expression in the kidney was measured by quantitative reverse transcription-PCR or Western blot, respectively. The total collagen concentration was also determined. In vitro, NRK-52E cells that treated with MVs under hypoxia injury and with HGF or U0126 administration were used, and cell cycle analysis was performed. The effects of hWJMSC-MVs on enhancing the proliferation and mitigating the apoptosis of renal cells, abrogating IRI-induced fibrosis, improving renal function, decreasing collagen deposition, and altering the expression levels of epithelial-mesenchymal transition and cell cycle-related proteins in IRI rats were found. In vitro experiment showed that hWJMSC-MVs could induce G2/M cell cycle arrest and decrease the expression of collagen deposition-related proteins in NRK-52E cells after 24 or 48 h. However, U0126 treatment reversed these effects. In conclusion, MVs derived from hWJMSCs ameliorate IR-induced renal fibrosis by inducing G2/M cell cycle arrest via Erk1/2 signaling.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between N-acetylglucosaminyltransferase V (GnT-V) and radiation sensitivity of prostate cancer (PCa) cells both in vitro and in vivo. Firstly, the GnT-V expression was studied in 84 cases of PCa tissues, in which higher level of GnT-V was detected more frequently in the advanced tumors. Secondly, the GnT-V stably suppressed cell lines PCa/1079 (Lncap/1079 and PC3/1079) were constructed from PCa cell lines (Lncap and PC3) in vitro. Attenuation of GnT-V inhibited cell proliferation, migration and increased apoptosis, which resulted in enhanced radiation sensitivity of PCa cells. The underlying mechanism may be relevant to the increasing ratio of Bax/Bcl-2, the blocking transcription of NF-κB and the reduction of cell cycle G2-M arrest. Finally, in in vivo study, compared with control groups, the irradiated PCa xenograft nude mice of PCa/1079 indicated to reduce tumor-growth rate and enhance survival time. Summary, our studies showed that inhibition of GnT-V probably improved PCa cells' radiation sensitivity.

OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to compare the tonsillar microbiota between post tonsillectomy patients with bleeding and without bleeding, and to investigate the potential role of tonsillar microbiota in the development of post-tonsillectomy hemorrhage (PTH). METHODS: Nineteen tonsillar tissues from PTH patients and 21 tissues from control patients were collected. Metagenomic sequencing was used to compare the microbiota in PTH and control groups. Alpha diversity indices were used to compare the richness and evenness of the microbiota between the two groups. PCoA and NMDS analyses were used to evaluate beta diversity. LDA analysis was conducted to identify significantly abundant genera. RESULTS: No significant difference in alpha diversity indices was found between PTH and control patients. The dominant bacteria in the tonsillar microbiota were Haemophilus, Streptococcus, and Fusobacterium. PCoA and NMDS analyses showed significant differences in beta diversity between PTH and control patients. PTH patients had a significantly higher relative abundance of Neisseria, Capnocytophaga, and Veillonella. Capnocytophaga was also identified as a significantly abundant genus by LDA analysis. CONCLUSION: This study demonstrates that there is a difference in the tonsillar microbiota between PTH and control patients. The results suggest that Neisseria, Capnocytophaga, and Veillonella may be associated with the development of PTH. These findings provide new insights into the potential role of the tonsillar microbiota in the development of PTH, and may help to develop new strategies for preventing and treating this potentially life-threatening complication.

Objectives: To study the ability of theaflavin-3,3'-digallate (TF3)/ethanol solution to crosslink demineralized dentin collagen, resist collagenase digestion, and explore the potential mechanism. Methods: Fully demineralized dentin blocks were prepared using human third molars that were caries-free. Then, these blocks were randomly allocated into 14 separate groups (n = 6), namely, control, ethanol, 5% glutaraldehyde (GA), 12.5, 25, 50, and 100 mg/ml TF3/ethanol solution groups. Each group was further divided into two subgroups based on crosslinking time: 30 and 60 s. The efficacy and mechanism of TF3's interaction with dentin type I collagen were predicted through molecular docking. The cross-linking, anti-enzymatic degradation, and biomechanical properties were studied by weight loss, hydroxyproline release, scanning/transmission electron microscopy (SEM/TEM), in situ zymography, surface hardness, thermogravimetric analysis, and swelling ratio. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and Raman spectroscopy were utilized to explore its mechanisms. Statistical analysis was performed using one and two-way analysis of variance and Tukey's test. Results: TF3/ethanol solution could effectively crosslink demineralized dentin collagen and improve its resistance to collagenase digestion and biomechanical properties (p < 0.05), showing concentration and time dependence. The effect of 25 and 50 mg/ml TF3/ethanol solution was similar to that of 5% GA, whereas the 100 mg/mL TF3/ethanol solution exhibited better performance (p < 0.05). TF3 and dentin type I collagen are mainly cross-linked by hydrogen bonds, and there may be covalent and hydrophobic interactions. Conclusion: TF3 has the capability to efficiently cross-link demineralized dentin collagen, enhancing its resistance to collagenase enzymatic hydrolysis and biomechanical properties within clinically acceptable timeframes (30 s/60 s). Additionally, it exhibits promise in enhancing the longevity of dentin adhesion.

The cell nucleus serves as the pivotal command center of living cells, and delivering therapeutic agents directly into the nucleus can result in highly efficient anti-tumor eradication of cancer cells. However, nucleus-targeting drug delivery is very difficult due to the presence of numerous biological barriers. Here, three antitumor drugs (DNase I, ICG: indocyanine green, and THP: pirarubicin) were sequentially triggered protein self-assembly to produce a nucleus-targeting and programmed responsive multi-drugs delivery system (DIT). DIT consisted of uniform spherical particles with a size of 282 ± 7.7 nm. The acidic microenvironment of tumors and near-infrared light could successively trigger DIT for the programmed release of three drugs, enabling targeted delivery to the tumor. THP served as a nucleus-guiding molecule and a chemotherapy drug. Through THP-guided DIT, DNase I was successfully delivered to the nucleus of tumor cells and killed them by degrading their DNA. Tumor acidic microenvironment had the ability to induce DIT, leading to the aggregation of sufficient ICG in the tumor tissues. This provided an opportunity for the photothermal therapy of ICG. Hence, three drugs were cleverly combined using a simple method to achieve multi-drugs targeted delivery and highly effective combined anticancer therapy.

Chemical cleaning and disinfection are crucial steps for eliminating infection in root canal treatment. However, irrigant selection or irrigation procedures are far from clear. The vapor lock effect in the apical region has yet to be solved, impeding irrigation efficacy and resulting in residual infections and compromised treatment outcomes. Additionally, ambiguous clinical indications for root canal medication and non-standardized dressing protocols must be clarified. Inappropriate intracanal medication may present side effects and jeopardize the therapeutic outcomes. Indeed, clinicians have been aware of these concerns for years. Based on the current evidence of studies, this article reviews the properties of various irrigants and intracanal medicaments and elucidates their effectiveness and interactions. The evolution of different kinetic irrigation methods, their effects, limitations, the paradigm shift, current indications, and effective operational procedures regarding intracanal medication are also discussed. This expert consensus aims to establish the clinical operation guidelines for root canal irrigation and a position statement on intracanal medication, thus facilitating a better understanding of infection control, standardizing clinical practice, and ultimately improving the success of endodontic therapy.

Endodontic diseases are a kind of chronic infectious oral disease. Common endodontic treatment concepts are based on the removal of inflamed or necrotic pulp tissue and the replacement by gutta-percha. However, it is very essential for endodontic treatment to debride the root canal system and prevent the root canal system from bacterial reinfection after root canal therapy (RCT). Recent research, encompassing bacterial etiology and advanced imaging techniques, contributes to our understanding of the root canal system's anatomy intricacies and the technique sensitivity of RCT. Success in RCT hinges on factors like patients, infection severity, root canal anatomy, and treatment techniques. Therefore, improving disease management is a key issue to combat endodontic diseases and cure periapical lesions. The clinical difficulty assessment system of RCT is established based on patient conditions, tooth conditions, root canal configuration, and root canal needing retreatment, and emphasizes pre-treatment risk assessment for optimal outcomes. The findings suggest that the presence of risk factors may correlate with the challenge of achieving the high standard required for RCT. These insights contribute not only to improve education but also aid practitioners in treatment planning and referral decision-making within the field of endodontics.

Objective:To evaluate the impact of vocal fold nodules on the quality of life of children, and to compare the efficacy between conservative management(voice hygiene education, etc.) and laryngeal microsurgery. Methods:A retrospective study was performed on 102 children with vocal fold nodules, who received treatment in Children's Hospital of Fudan University during the period from January 2020 to December 2022. According to the regime, the patients were divided into conservative management group and surgical treatment group; Cases are divided into pre-school age group (2-5 years old) and school-age group (6-12 years old) based on age. The pediatric voice-related quality of life (pVRQOL) was used to evaluate the impact of vocal fold nodules on the quality of life of children and differences in efficacy between two treatment regimens. Results:The pVRQOL scores of vocal fold nodule grades 1, 2, and 3 were 91.58±8.17, 78.87±12.49, 72.50±12.08, respectively. There were statistical differences between grade 1 and grade 2, and between grade 2 and grade 3. There were statistical differences between grade 1 grade 2, grade 2 and grade 3 (P<0.001), suggesting that the higher the rating of vocal cord nodules, the lower the pVRQOL score of patients was. The pVRQOL score of the school-age group was 69.83±11.11, which is lower than that of the preschool group(87.59±8.63), and the difference was statistically significant (P=0.042). Vocal fold nodules had a significant impact on the pVRQOL score of school-age children. In the conservative management group, the pVRQOL scores before and after treatment were 83.99±12.66 and 87.26±9.58, respectively, and there was significant difference between the two groups(P=0.046). Indirect voice therapy such as voice hygiene education could improve children's pVRQOL scores and was more effective for school-age children(P<0.001). The microsurgical treatment had a more significant improvement in the pVRQOL score of children. Conclusion:The higher the rating of vocal fold nodules, the greater the impact on the quality of life of patients. Vocal fold nodules had a greater impact on the quality of life of school-age children than that of preschool children. Voice hygiene education could improve the quality of life of children, which was more evident in the school-age group. Compared with voice hygiene therapy, laryngeal microsurgery had a more significant effect on improving the pVRQOL score of patients. It is recommended to undergo laryngeal microsurgery for the treatment of vocal fold nodules for the requirement of improving the quality of life related to voice. During the 6-month follow-up period after surgery in this study, the short-term efficacy of laryngeal microsurgery in treating vocal cord nodules in children is clear, but the long-term efficacy needs further research.
