RESUMEN

Examination of 20 individuals without any pathological conditions of the cardiovascular system and 8 patients with myocardial hypertrophy has shown that the hypocalciemic hormone of the thyroid gland thyrocalcitonin has a certain negative inotropic effect and does not possess chrono- and dromotropic affects. The mechanism of the cardiac effect of thyrocalcitonin is evidently due to its effect on the metabolism of calcium and its transportation in the myocardial structures.

RESUMEN

The results of the operative treatment of 277 patients with atrioventricular block and sick sinus syndrome were analysed. The primary implantation of the electrocardiostimulators (ECS) was performed in 211 (73.5%), the repeated one--in 76 (26.5%) patients. The complications of endocardial electrocardiostimulation developed in 58 (17.3%) patients, of them in 39 (14%), the repeated operative intervention was performed. Most frequently, the complications were conditioned by the quality of electrodes and ECG.

RESUMEN

A study was made of the effect of the thyroid hormone thyrocalcitonin (TCT) on the electrolyte composition of the plasma and erythrocytes. In healthy persons and in the patients with various diseases of the cardiovascular system administration of 1 Unit of TCT per 1 kg of weight led to a significant reduction of the total plasma calcium and its diffusible fraction and also of plasma sodium. A course treatment with the hormone led to the enhancement of the hypocalciemic effect. In dogs administration of 10 Units of TCT per 1 kg of weight produced a more pronounced hypocalciemic effect. The rest of blood electrolytes displayed no significant changes.
