RESUMEN

The method allowing the detection of BLV proviral DNA in the peripheral blood leukocytes of cattle is reported. Cell DNA from leukocytes used without preliminary cultivation was dot-hydridized with 32P-labeled plasmid that included a fragment of BLV proviral DNA. In parallel, sera from the cattle under study were tested by immunodiffusion assay (ID). The results indicate that dot-hybridization assay is more sensitive as a diagnostic test than ID because it detects BLV infection in apparently normal cattle which was seronegative by ID.

RESUMEN

Effect of 9-12 month treatment with captopril on dopplerographic parameters of intrarenal blood flow and renal function was studied in 30 hypertensive diabetics without clinical signs of nephroangiopathy. There was an interrelationship between strict blood pressure (BP) control (average 24-hour BP below 135/83) and improvement of parameters of intrarenal hemodynamics. BP normalization and most pronounced positive changes of renal perfusion during therapy with captopril were achieved in patients with mild hypertension and initially high intrarenal resistance yet at the stage of normo- or microalbuminuria. In moderate hypertension with microalbuminuria treatment with captopril was associated with stabilization of parameters of renal blood flow and rate of 24-hour albumin excretion at their initial level despite less strict control of BP and unsatisfactory compensation of diabetes. BP response to captopril in patients with hypertension and diabetes was related to initial state of intrarenal hemodynamics. In patients with mild hypertension indexes of resistance of renal and intrarenal arteries could be used for prediction of sensitivity to antihypertensive action of captopril.

RESUMEN

In experiments on tissues with a high level of transcription (liver, brain) and with blocked genome (amphibian erythrocytes), it has been shown that the accessibility of antigenic determinants of HMG14 and HMG17 proteins is decreased in a sequence: liver, brain, erythrocytes. No differences in interaction of antigenic determinants of HMG2 protein with corresponding antibodies were found in the chromatin of the tissues investigated. Complement binding was higher in the interaction of chromatin from the liver and brain with antisera to HMG14 and HMG17 proteins, than with antiserum to HMG2 protein. No differences in antigenic properties of the investigated fractions of HMG proteins were observed in the amphibian erythrocytes.

RESUMEN

The loading tests, instrumental and biochemical methods were employed to study the effect of mildronate, dalargin, rokornal, gevilon, dibunol, emoxipine and plasmapheresis on the coronary, cerebral, peripheral circulation, the level of cholesterol, its fractions and triglycerides in 247 patients suffering from atherosclerosis. Mildronate, dalargin, rokornal, emoxipine and plasmapheresis were shown to exert a beneficial effect on the regional circulation, lipid metabolism and can be used in the treatment of patients with concomitant forms of atherosclerosis.

RESUMEN

Effects of intravenous dalargin daily administered in a dose of 28 micrograms/kg during 7 days on hemodynamics, oxygen balance, lipid spectrum were studied in patients with coronary heart disease. The results of the treatment show that dalargin decreases incidence of anginal attacks, peripheral vascular resistance, venous tonicity, increases exercise tolerance, peripheral blood flow and venous flow. In addition, such treatment reduces oxygen consumption, levels of total cholesterol, triglycerides, low density lipoprotein cholesterol.

RESUMEN

High motility group proteins (HMG) are extracted by 5% HCIO4 and 0.35 M NaCl and are characterized by low molecular mass and a high content of acidic and basic amino acids. There is evidence that HMG are involved in the formation of transcriptionally active chromatin.

RESUMEN

The antigenic properties of rat brain and liver chromatin were studied under conditions of prolonged adaptation to hypoxia. The results obtained indicate the increase in the accessibility of the HMG proteins antigenic determinants in rat brain chromatin.

RESUMEN

The rates of renaturation of ultrasonically treated DNA, isolated from fragments of rat liver chromatin, were compared. Chromatographic fractionation on hydroxylapatite was used to fractionate the denatured and renatured DNAs. It was shown that DNA fraction 1 renatures considerably faster than fraction 2. The results are compared with previously published data on the specificity coefficient of DNA, the content of basic amino acids and alkali-labile phosphorus of the protein in the corresponding fragments of the chromatin. The possible functional role of these fragments in the genome is discussed.

RESUMEN

It was found that chromatin transcription in the neuronal nucleus of rat brain is inhibited by antisera to proteins HMG 14, HMG 17 and HMG 2. It is known that chromatin transcription of the neuronal nucleus and phosphorylation of chromosomal proteins are activated by etimizol. The phosphorylation of chromosomal proteins activated by etimizol is inhibited by the antiserum to HMG 14 (but not to HMG 17). The data obtained are suggestive of a possible role of HMG proteins and their phosphorylated forms in the regulation of transcription.
