RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE: To analyze scientific publications in order to identify the cross-cultural adaptation methods of instruments that are mainly applied in nursing. METHOD: Integrative review, in the electronic sources Medline - Pubmed, Cinahl, Lilacs, Scopus and Web of Science. 96 peer-reviewed papers, published between 2010 and 2015 were selected. RESULTS: The articles that composed the sample were published in 59 different journals, 15.2% were Brazilian. The largest number of publications was concentrated in 2015 (31.2%), 28 countries appeared on the list which is led by Brazil (33.3%), followed by China (10.4%). It was used 26 different guidelines, however the one proposed by Beaton and their collaborators was mentioned in 47 (49.0%) articles and the Brislin's in 12 (12.5%). CONCLUSION: This review does not allow us to define the most appropriate method, however all methods applied agreed on the use of back translation. In addition, many studies in different languages and countries showed the international acceptability of the method developed by Beaton et al.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE: To map evidence on technologies used by nurses to promote breastfeeding in Health Services. METHOD: This is a scoping review, based on the recommendations of the Joanna Briggs Institute and following the PRISMA Extension for Scoping Reviews, carried out in 2022. The searches took place in seven databases, using the following combined descriptors: "nurse", "technology", "breastfeeding", and "health services". RESULTS: Fifteen articles were found, the first from 2000 and the last from 2022, all published in English with a predominance of productions in the United States of America (n = 5) and Brazil (n = 3). The link was the technology present in most studies (n = 11). However, with regard to classification, educational and hard technologies were the most used in promotion strategies (n = 14 and n = 12), respectively. CONCLUSION: The articles showed a variety of technologies used to promote breastfeeding in health services, and thus, contributing for the maintenance and duration of breastfeeding.

RESUMEN

This paper reports the gathered information from an international environmental scan of university-baseline information for the creation of a Nursing Knowledge Network. An online environment scan of organizational context (February to October 2021) explored the identification of research areas, existing resources, expected benefits, innovations in teaching research, barriers to knowledge dissemination, and prospective contributions of the Network. Target informants were 200 nursing faculty affiliated with 63 universities located in 13 countries, as well as nursing networks in the Ibero-American context. One informant per university was asked to respond to the questionnaire. The participation rate was nearly 70% (42/63). The informants' universities per country included Brazil (n = 21), Canada (n = 4), Portugal and Spain (n = 3 each), Colombia, Mexico, Peru and USA (n = 2 each), Chile, Italy and Paraguay (n = 1 each). Nursing faculty provided rich information and shared knowledge confirming a strong commitment to global co-creation of innovations and research partnership capacities through collaboration, cooperation, and knowledge exchange among nursing higher education institutions. Seldom researched areas are a potential focus for the Network to generate appropriate evidence to inform local scientific practices. The gathered information will inform further review of nursing and governmental policies and programs related to the application and dissemination of nursing evidence across local, regional, and global levels.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE: to assess the effectiveness of using an educational video in comparison with verbal nursing guidelines in increasing older adults' perception of falling risks. METHOD: this is a randomized clinical trial in a cluster, with 138 community older adults, randomized into an intervention group, which watched an educational video, and a control group, which received verbal instructions. The perception of falling risks was assessed by FRAQ-Brazil in the pre-test and after a 30-day follow-up. Student's t-test was used for dependent samples to compare intragroup means and for independent samples to compare intergroup means. The effect size was determined by Cohen's d. RESULTS: in the intragroup analysis, intervention and control groups had an increase in perception, with a statistically significant difference between pre-and post-tests. In the intergroup analysis, the control group showed a greater increase in the perception of falling risks in relation to the intervention group (p = 0.013), with Cohen's d of small effect. CONCLUSION: the use of an educational video and verbal instructions increased older adults' perception of falling risks, with better results in the control group. However, the effect size was small. RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE: To know the evidence available in the literature on the effects of the zika virus in children development after fetal exposure. METHODS: This is an integrative literature review with 16 scientific articles found in five databases (PubMed, LILACS, CINAHL, Web of Science and Scopus), based on the guiding question: "What are the effects in the development of children aged 0 to 6 years exposed to the zika virus in the fetal period? The STROBE statement was used for data extraction and evaluation of primary studies. RESULTS: Exposure to the zika virus in the fetal period resulted in several congenital anomalies and/or changes in the central nervous system: microcephaly, ocular problems, neurosensorial problems, ventriculomegaly, intracranial calcification, cardiopathy, arthrogryposis, among others. CONCLUSION: The zika virus is neurotropic; its effect in the fetal nervous system causes irreparable damage to the child, so health professionals, especially nurses, must intensify maternal and also childcare.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE: to analyze the factors associated with childhood accidents at home according to the levels of the social determinants of health. METHOD: integrative review of the literature, with research in databases CINAHL, LILACS and PubMed, with the following main descriptors: child; social determinants of health; accidentes, home. We included 31 studies that related the social determinants of health and childhood accidents, in English, Portuguese and Spanish. RESULTS: the proximal determinants identified were: age and sex of children, and ethnicity. Among the intermediate determinants of health, parental behavior, related to the supervision of an adult, prevailed. Parental employment and socioeconomic status were identified as distal determinants. CONCLUSION: the age and sex of the child, besides direct supervision, were the determinants most associated with accidents. The distal determinants should be better studied because their relation with the occurrence of domestic accidents has not been sufficiently clarified.

Abstract Background The urine benzene metabolite trans,trans-muconic (t,t-MA) is considered a good bioindicator of exposure to benzene levels in the air above 0.50 ppm. Objective Determine urinary levels of trans, trans-muconic acid (t,t-MA) and investigate the relationship with potential sources of exposure to benzene and its association with hematological parameters. Method A sectional study was carried out with 150 residents of Açailândia, Maranhão, Brazil. A structured questionnaire was used for sociodemographic and occupational characterization, among others. Urine and blood samples were collected to determine t,t-MA levels and blood counts. Associations were explored using multiple linear and logistic regressions. Results The t,t-MA was detected in 27% of the participants, with an average concentration of 0.15 mg/g creatinine. The most frequent hematological changes were low rods (41%), eosinophilia (33%), and reduced hemoglobin levels (19%). No statistically significant correlation was found between t,t-MA and blood count parameters. The factors that significantly influenced the excretion of t, t-MA were skin color, regular practice of leisure activities with exposure to organic solvents, and consumption of soda and soft drinks in the last 24 hours. Conclusion The population does not appear to be exposed to high concentrations of benzene. However, the hematological profile revealed the presence of biochemical changes compatible with anemia and immunological impairment.
