RESUMEN

Gastric cancer (GC) is one of the most frequent epithelial malignancies worldwide. The gastrointestinal (GI) peptide gastrin is an important regulator of the secretion and release of gastric acid from stomach parietal cells, and it also plays a vital role in the development and progression of GC. The aim of the current study was to investigate the role and underlying mechanism of gastrin and autophagy in regulating GC tumorigenesis. Gastrin-17 amide (G-17) was applied in the GC cell lines SGC7901 and MGC-803. The results showed that G-17 maintained the high viability of SGC7901 and MGC-803. The expression of autophagy marker proteins LC3II and Beclin1 was significantly increased, while the autophagy substrate p62 was obviously decreased in the gastrin group compared with the control group. Moreover, G-17 strengthened the expressions of AMPKα, Ras, Raf, MEK, and ERK1/2. Additionally, administration of AMPKα siRNA counteracted the effect of gastrin in SGC7901 cells. Finally, in an in vivo study of the tumor growth and survival rate of rats, the levels of AMPKα/Ras/Raf/MEK/ERK were significantly increased in the gastrin group and decreased following AMPKα shRNA injection. In conclusion, these findings indicate that gastrin plays a tumorigenic role by promoting autophagy in GC and may provide a novel therapeutic target for GC treatment.

RESUMEN

Objective:To evaluate the clinical effectiveness of combining electrical stimulation with manual massage in treating women′s myofascial pelvic pain (MPPS).Methods:A total of 93 MPPS patients were recruited and randomly divided into an infrared irradiation group ( n=30), an electrical stimulation group ( n=31) and a combination group ( n=32). Those in the infrared group and the electrical stimulation group were given 30 minutes of infrared irradiation or electrical stimulation daily for 10 days, while the combined group was given a manual massage with electrical stimulation. The response to treatment was evaluated using a visual analogue scale (VAS) to rate discomfort, plus a physical examination, and surface electromyography results using Glazer′s protocol. The treatments′ efficacy and the recurrence of pain were evaluated 1 month after the treatment. Results:The average VAS ratings, resting potentials and their variability of the three groups all improved significantly after the treatment. The average VAS scores of the combined and electrical stimulation groups after the treatment were significantly lower than that of the infrared group. Moreover, the total effective rates of the combined group (96.87%) and the electrical stimulation group (80.65%) were significantly higher than that of the infrared group (56.67%), and the resting potential and variability of the former two groups were also significantly better. All of the above measurements among the combined group after the treatment were significantly better, on average, than in the electrical stimulation group. A month later the recurrence rate in the combined group (6.25%) was significantly lower than in the electrical stimulation group (25.81%) and the infrared group (56.67%).Conclusion:Electrical stimulation combined with manual massage is effective in relieving myofascial pelvic pain.

RESUMEN

Three hundred and ninety five patients with bronchial asthma were randomly divided into 4 groups:patients in group A received inhaled beclomethasone dipropionate(BDP)100μg and Zhichuan decoction;patients in group B were given inhaled BDP 200μg;patients in group C took Zhichuan decoction only;patients in group D were given inhaled BDP 100 μg.Methacholine airway reactivity, pulmonary ventilation function, serum acidophilia cationic protein and symptom score were determined before and after treatment. All above indicators were significantly improved in groups A and B,which suggests that Zhichuan decoction could reduce hormone dosage in control of airway chronic inflammation, reduction of airway reactivity and improvement of pulmonary ventilation function of patients with bronchial asthma.
