RESUMEN

Pantoea ananatis is a major pathogen that causes the new bacterial blight in rice, and its symptoms very similar to rice bacterial blight. Therefore, there is a dire need for an accurate and rapid method for detecting P. ananatis. In this study, an early and rapid visual detection method for P. ananatis was established. Using GyrB gene as the target sequence, an innovative recombinase-aided amplification detection system integrated with a lateral flow dipstick (RAA-LFD) was constructed. The optimized RAA-LFD detection method can be initiated at body temperature and does not rely on precise instruments. It does not require DNA extraction and can be used directly with plant tissue fluids. The results can be visualized after 10 minutes of amplification. The specificity and sensitivity tests showed that the RAA-LFD method could detect P. ananatis, whereas other common plant pathogens were not detected, and its detection sensitivity for P. ananatis DNA reached 100 copies/µL. The detection of diseased tissues indicated that this method could accurately detect P. ananatis in artificially inoculated rice tissues in the early stages of infection before symptoms. The RAA-LFD detection system established in this study is simple and fast, with visual results, excellent specificity, and high sensitivity. It is semi-quantitative and should be used for the early detection and rapid field diagnosis of new leaf blight, which provides technical support for the early warning and real-time detection of field samples.

RESUMEN

SiO2 and TiO2, as conventional dielectric shells of ferromagnetic/dielectric composite particles, can protect ferromagnetic particles from aggregation and oxidation, but contribute little to electromagnetic loss. In this work, we designed nano-assembled CoFe-CoFe2O4@C composite particles, in which ferrites with high permeability were dielectric elements and carbon was introduced as protective layers, aiming for high-efficiency microwave absorption. These assembled particles with different CoFe contents were prepared through solvothermal methods and subsequent hydrogen-thermal reduction. CoFe nanoparticles were dispersed on a CoFe2O4 matrix via an in situ reduction transformation from CoFe2O4 to CoFe. The microstructure evolution of composite particles and corresponding electromagnetic properties tailoring were investigated. The content and size of CoFe as well as the porosity of composite particles increase gradually as the annealing temperature increases. A maximum reflection loss (RL max) of -71.73 dB is observed at 4.78 GHz in 3.4 mm thick coating using particles annealed at 500 °C as fillers. The coating presents double-band absorbing characteristics, as broad effective absorption bandwidth with RL > 5 (ERL 5) and high RL max are observed in both S-C and X-Ku bands. The tunability as well as the assembled characteristic of the electromagnetic property that endued from the composite structure contributes to the excellent electromagnetic wave absorbing performances.

RESUMEN

PURPOSE: We evaluated whether glans preserving surgery would be more helpful for patients to regain satisfactory sexual competency postoperatively than conventional partial amputation. MATERIALS AND METHODS: From 2004 to 2012 at 4 centers a total of 135 men treated with glans preserving surgery and 36 treated with partial amputation were selected for evaluation from a total of 273 consecutive patients with penile cancer. Subjective evaluation for patient sexual performance was investigated using the IIEF-15. Objective evaluation was done using the audiovisual sexual stimulation test with the RigiScan® Plus. The degree of satisfaction with penile appearance, and patient confidence and partner acceptability for intercourse were evaluated by 5-point scales. RESULTS: Patients treated with glans preserving surgery had better performance in 4 IIEF-15 domains (erectile function, orgasmic function, intercourse satisfaction and overall satisfaction) and 1 RigiScan parameter (tip rigidity) (each p <0.01). They also had significantly higher appearance satisfaction (64.4% vs 13.9%) and intercourse confidence (55.6% vs 5.6%) than men who underwent partial amputation. Sexual partners in the glans preserving group also showed significantly higher appearance satisfaction (51.1% vs 5.6%) and intercourse acceptability (37.8% vs 16.7%) than in the partial amputation group. CONCLUSIONS: Glans preserving surgery effectively preserves the functional anatomy and cosmetic appearance of the glans penis. Glans preservation contributes to minimizing postoperative erectile dysfunction and negative psychological impediments, and promotes return to satisfactory sexual performance. Patients treated with glans preservation have more advantages in obtaining sexual acceptance from their partners than those who undergo amputation.

RESUMEN

The safety and efficacy of combined low dose aspirin and warfarin therapy in patients with atrial fibrillation after mechanical heart valve replacement were evaluated. A total of 1016 patients (620 females, mean age of 36.8±7.7 years) admitted for cardiac valve replacement and complicated with atrial fibrillation after surgery were randomly divided into study (warfarin plus 75-100 mg aspirin) or control (warfarin only) groups. International normalized ratio (INR) and prothrombin time were maintained at 1.8-2.5 and 1.5-2.0 times the normal values, respectively. Thromboembolic events and major bleedings were registered during the follow-up period. Patients were followed up for 24±9 months. The average dose of warfarin in the study and control groups was 2.91±0.83 mg and 2.88±0.76 mg, respectively (P>0.05). The incidence of overall thromboembolic events in study group was lower than that in control group (2.16% vs. 4.35%, P=0.049). No statistically significant differences were found in hemorrhage events (3.53% vs. 3.95%, P=0.722) or mortality (0.20% vs. 0.40%, P=0.559) between the two groups. Combined low dose aspirin and warfarin therapy in the patients with atrial fibrillation following mechanical heart valve replacement significantly decreased thromboembolic events as compared with warfarin therapy alone. This combined treatment was not associated with an increase in the risk of major bleeding or mortality.

RESUMEN

The infertile electromagnetic (EM) attenuating behavior of carbon material makes the improvement of its performance remain a significant challenge. Herein, a facile and low-cost strategy radically distinct from the prevalent approaches by constructing polar covalent bonds between sp2 -hybridized and sp3 -hybridized carbon atoms to introduce strong dipolar polarization is proposed. Through customizing and selectively engineering the N moieties conjugated with carbon rings, the microstructure of the as-synthesized 2D nanosheet is gradually converted with the partial transition from sp3 carbons to sp2 carbons, where the electric dipoles between them are also tuned. Supported by the DFT calculations, a progressively enhanced sp2 ─sp3 C─C dipolar polarization is caused by this controllable structure evolution, which is demonstrated to contribute dominantly to the total dielectric loss. By virtue of this unduplicated loss behavior, a remarkable effective absorption bandwidth (EAB) beyond -10 dB of 8.28 GHz (2.33 mm) and an ultrawide EAB beyond -5 dB of 13.72 GHz (4.93 mm) are delivered, which upgrade the EM performance of carbon material to a higher level. This study not only demonstrates the huge perspective of sp2 ─sp3 -hybridized carbon in EM elimination but also gives pioneering insights into the carbon-carbon polarization mechanism for guiding the development of advanced EM absorption materials.

RESUMEN

Numblike (Numbl), a conserved homolog of Drosophila Numb, has been proved to be implicated in early development of the nervous system. A recent study also showed that Numbl played an important role in tumorigenesis and invasion by suppressing NF-κB activation. However, the biological role of Numbl remains unknown in lung cancer up to now. To address the expression of Numbl in the lung cancer cell, four lung cancer cell lines (metastatic cell lines NCI-H292, 95-D, and non-metastatic cell lines A549, HCC827) and non-cancerous human bronchial epithelial cells were used to detect the protein expression of Numbl by western blotting. The results in this study indicated that the expression of Numbl was downregulated in human lung cancer cell lines, especially in metastatic cell lines. To investigate the role of Numbl in lung cancer cell proliferation, apoptosis, and invasion, we generated human lung cancer 95-D cell lines in which Numbl was either overexpressed or depleted. Subsequently, the effects of Numbl on the cell viability, cycle, apoptosis, and invasion properties in 95-D cells were determined with MTT [3-(4, 5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2, 5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide] assay, flow cytometry analysis, and Transwell invasion assays. The results indicated that Numbl could decrease cell viability, suppress cell proliferation and invasion, and promote cell apoptosis. In addition, we investigated the effects of Numbl on the expression of the following proteins: TRAF6 (tumor necrosis factor receptor-associated factor 6), p-p65 (phosphor-NF-κB), cyclin D1, caspase-3, and matrix metalloproteinase 9 (MMP9). Results showed that Numbl could decrease the expression of TRAF6, p-p65, cyclin D1, and MMP9 and increase the expression of caspase-3. All these results suggested that Numbl might be involved in the inhibition of growth, proliferation, and invasion of 95-D cells, as well as the potentiation of apoptosis of 95-D cells by abrogating TRAF6-induced activation of NF-κB.

RESUMEN

The enzymes involved in riboflavin biosynthesis are considered to be potential anti-bacterial drug targets because these proteins are essential in bacterial pathogens but are absent in humans. 3,4-dihydroxy-2-butanone-4-phosphate synthase (DHBPS) is one of the key enzymes in the biosynthesis of riboflavin. DHBPS catalyzes the conversion of ribulose-5-phosphate (Ru5P) to 3,4-Dihydroxy-2-butanone-4-phosphate (DHBP) and formate. The purified SpDHBPS enzyme, in the presence of Mg(2+) ion, catalyzed the conversion of Ru5P to DHBP at a rate of 109nmolmin(-1)mg(-1) with an apparent Km value of 181µM at 37°C. Surprisingly, our experiments first revealed that DHBPS showed activity in the presence of the trivalent metal ion, Fe(3+). Furthermore, we determined the crystal structure of DHBPS from Gram-positive bacteria, Streptococcus pneumoniae, with 2.0Å resolution. The overall architecture of SpDHBPS was similar to its homologs, which comprise one ß-sheet (five-stranded) and eight α-helices, adopting a three-layered α-ß-α sandwich fold. Similar to the homologs, gel-filtration experiments verified that the enzyme was arranged as a dimer. Although the overall fold of DHBPS was similar, the significant structural differences between the species at the active site region may be utilized to develop antibacterial agents that are species-specific.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the safety of assisted reproductive technology (ART) with donated sperm from the sperm bank and the differences in the pregnancy outcomes of different means of promoting pregnancy. METHODS: We analyzed and compared the feedback data on promoting pregnancy with donated sperm from the sperm bank by artificial insemination by donor (AID), in vitro fertilization (IVF), and intracytoplasm sperm injection (ICSI). RESULTS: Totally, 13 723 tubes of sperm specimens were used for ART. The number of specimens used differed in different clinical reproductive centers, some using 1 tube and others using 2 tubes per cycle. The 13 723 tubes were used for a total of 7 743 cycles. Among the 7 123 cycles of AID, there were 1 415 clinical pregnancies (19.87%), 1 221 normal births (86.29%), 169 abortions (11.94%), 6 cases of birth defects (0.43%), 19 ectopic pregnancies (1.34%), and 0 sexually transmitted infection. Among the 571 cycles of IVF, there were 367 clinical pregnancies (64.27%), 330 normal births (89.92%), 35 abortions (9.54%), 0 birth defect, 2 ectopic pregnancies (0.54%), and 0 sexually transmitted infection. Among the 49 cycles of ICSI, there were 28 clinical pregnancies (57.14%), 25 normal births (89.29%), 3 abortions (10.71%), 0 birth defect, 0 ectopic pregnancy, and 0 sexually transmitted infection. There were statistically significant differences in the rate of clinical pregnancy among AID, IVF and ICSI (P < 0.05), but not between IVF and ICSI (P > 0.05), nor were there any significant differences in the rates of abortion, birth defects and ectopic pregnancy among AID, IVF and ICSI (P > 0.05). CONCLUSION: None of the recipients of the donated sperm from the sperm bank was infected with sexually transmitted diseases. AID, IVF and ICSI showed no significant differences from natural conception in the rates of abortion, birth defects and ectopic pregnancy. ART with donated sperm from the sperm bank is safe. IVF and ICSI are associated with a higher rate of pregnancy than AID, though the latter costs less than the former two.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE: To investigate sperm DNA integrity in male infertility patients with hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection. METHODS: This study included 90 infertile men with HBV infection (group A), 82 infertile men without HBV infection (group B) and 70 normal fertile men (group C). We detected sperm DNA integrity among the subjects, including DNA fragmentation index (DFI) and high DNA stainability (HDS), by sperm chromatin structure assay (SCSA), and compared them among the three groups. RESULTS: DFI was higher in group A ([28.17 +/- 13.06]%) than in B ([26.64 +/- 9.79]%) and C ([15.67 +/- 4.73]%), significantly higher in A and B than in C (P < 0.05) but with no significant difference between A and B (P > 0.05). HDS was higher in group A ([10.83 +/- 5.601]%) than in B ([9.04 +/- 3.48]%) and C ([8.04-2.25]%), with significant difference between A and C (P < 0.05). CONCLUSION: Sperm DNA integrity of infertile males is significantly different from that of normal fertile men, and infertility with HBV infection further impairs sperm DNA, which is manifested by abnormal sperm nuclear maturity.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: This study is designed to investigate the effect of preoperational mechanical ventilation on the short-term postoperative outcomes following corrective surgery for severe tetralogy of Fallot (TOF). METHODS: Ninety-two patients (58 males, mean age 20.5±8.5 months) with severe TOF were randomised into study and control groups. In the study group, mechanical ventilation was performed in PEEP/PRVC mode in the intensive care unit to correct blood gas imbalances for the corrective surgery. In the control group, preoperative oxygen supply was provided via face mask or nasal tubes. RESULTS: The postoperative mechanical ventilation time (14.3±1.9 vs 22.5±2.2h, p=0.02), intensive care stay (2.3±1.2 vs 4.7±1.1d, p=0.03) and duration for positive inotropic drug administration (2.5±1.1 vs 4.8±1.2d, p=0.04) in the study group were shorter than those in the control group. The postoperative capillary leak syndrome in the study group was lower than that in the control group (4.3% vs 23.9%, p=0.006). There was no statistically significant difference in the postoperative mortality between the study and control groups (2.1% vs 6.5%, p=0.606). CONCLUSIONS: Preoperational mechanical ventilation in patients with severe forms of TOF was associated with improved short-term outcomes following the corrective surgery. The effect of the preoperational ventilation on postoperative mortality requires further investigation.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: To investigate blood lactate levels during and after peripherally established cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB). METHODS: In 86 patients (41 males, mean age 13.8 ± 7.2), CPB was established via femoral vein and artery cannulation for thoracoscopic closure of atrial (n=54) or ventricular septal defect (n=32). Arterial and venous blood lactate levels were measured from the cannulated limb during CPB, and from systemic circulation after CPB. RESULTS: The mean duration of CPB and cannulation of a lower extremity were 50.0 ± 10.5 min and 76.0 ± 18.5 min, respectively. The mean arterial lactate level measured from the systemic circulation remained unchanged during CPB (P>0.05). In patients with CPB for 3h or more, mean arterial lactate in the cannulated limb were higher than the baseline values (3.3 ± 0.5 vs 0.8 ± 0.2 mmol/L, P<0.05). In patients with more than 2h of CPB, mean venous lactate levels in the cannulated limb were also higher than the baseline values (3.4 ± 0.2 vs 1.1 ± 0.3 mmol/L, P<0.05). Within 6h after CPB, systemic arterial (3.0 ± 0.2 vs 0.8 ± 0.1 mmol/L, P<0.01) and venous lactate levels (6.5 ± 0.2 vs 1.0 ± 0.1 mmol/L, P<0.01) were higher than the pre-CPB values. CONCLUSIONS: Peripherally established CPB was associated with an arterial and venous lactate elevation in local and systemic circulation. The duration of CPB and lower limb cannulation appears to be related to the lactate elevation.

RESUMEN

The influence of pre-stretch on the mechanical properties of 2219 Al alloys sheets were systematically investigated, with the aim of examining the age-strengthening in parts draw-formed from as-quenched sheets. The precipitation was characterized based on differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) analysis and transmission electron microscope (TEM) observation of specimens of as-quenched and quenched-stretched condition to address the influence of pre-stretching. A tensile test was performed to evaluate the effect on mechanical properties. The introduction of pre-stretching endues increased yield strength (YS) and thus can be helpful to exert the potential of the alloy. Peak YS of 387.5 and 376.8 MPa are obtained when specimens pre-stretched for 10% are aged at 150 and 170 °C, respectively, much higher than that obtained in the non-stretched specimens (319.2 MPa). The precipitation of Guinier-Preston zone (G.P. zones) and the transition to θ″ shifts to a lower temperature when pre-stretched is performed. The high density of dislocations developed during the stretching contributes to the acceleration in precipitation. Quench-stretched specimens present a much quicker age-hardening response at the beginning stage, which endue higher peaked yield strength. The yield strength, however, decrease much more quickly due to the recovery that occurs during the aging processes. The study suggested the feasibility of aging draw-formed components of 2219 Al alloy to obtain high strength.

RESUMEN

The poor dispersity and oxidation resistance of ferromagnetic metal nanoparticles can induce serious deterioration in electromagnetic properties, which then significantly limits the application of this catalog of materials. In this work, sandwich-like Co/rGo/Co composites were in situ constructed, in which monodispersed Co nanoparticles with diameters of 20-60 nm were densely dispersed on both sides of rGO nanosheets. A connecting network between the densely-packed Co nanoparticles can be formed, where Co nanoparticles are abutted or bridged to each other through a neck of Co. These sandwich-like composites evidently contributed to improved permittivity and permeability, which was ascribed to the enhanced interface polarization and exchange coupling in this Co nanoparticles densely-packed structure. A maximum reflection loss (RLmax) of -61 dB (at 11.1 GHz) together with an efficient absorbing bandwidth (RL < -10 dB, ERL10) of 4 GHz was obtained at a very thin matching thickness of 2 mm. The coating also presented a potential double-band absorbing performance, at SC band and Ku band, respectively. The excellent electromagnetic absorbing performances were ascribed to the synergistic effect of multiple dielectric losses and ferromagnetic losses. The sandwich-like Co/rGO/Co composites proposed an alternative way for broadband and high-efficiency absorption and provided a typical structure to analyze the loss mechanisms.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: This study was designed to investigate the effect of captopril on systolic pulmonary arterial pressure (PAP) and circulating endothelin-1 (ET-1) following surgical repair of tetralogy of Fallot (TOF). METHODS AND RESULTS: Seventy-six consecutive patients were divided into captopril and control groups following successful repair of TOF. The captopril group was treated with oral captopril (0.2 mg/kg/day) for 12 months. Venous blood was taken before and after the surgery for the analysis of ET-1. Systolic PAP and ventricular function were assessed by Doppler echocardiography. In the control group, there was an increase in ET-1 and systolic PAP following the surgery (p < 0.05). In the captopril group, there was no significant increase in the systolic PAP and ET-1 during the 12-month follow-up. The PAP and ET-1 values in the captopril group were lower than those in the control group following the surgery (p < 0.05). CONCLUSIONS: Systolic PAP is elevated following the complete surgical repair of TOF. Increased circulating ET-1 may be responsible for the elevation of PAP. Captopril treatment prevents postsurgical increases in systolic PAP and circulating ET-1.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the association between the pregnancy rate of intrauterine insemination (IUI) and the ERp57 expression level in donor sperm. METHODS: Forty-two sperm samples were divided into 3 groups according to the pregnancy rate: Group A (n = 16, pregnancy rate = 0), B (n = 13, pregnancy rate 10%-20%) and C (n = 13, pregnancy rate > or = 20%). The optical density (OD) was normalized to the beta-tubulin band for the evaluation of the ERp57 level. RESULTS: OD (ERp57/Tubulin) was 0.95 +/- 0.24 in Group A, 1.33 +/- 0.43 in Group B and 1.33 +/- 0.39 in Group C. The ERp57 expression level was significantly lower in Group A than in B and C (P < 0.05), with no significant differences between the latter two groups. CONCLUSION: The ERp57 expression level in donor sperm could be used as an index to predict the pregnancy rate of IUI and to avoid IUI failure by removing low-level donor sperm.

RESUMEN

Lung cancer is one of the most common cancers worldwide.Although there are gender differences in lung cancer incidence and mortality, the etiology and pathogenesis of lung cancer in women (LCW) have not been well studied.Women are more susceptible than men to the carcinogenic effects of tobacco, with the clearer underlying mechanisms being synergistic effects between estrogen and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) found in tobacco compounds, as well as oncogene mutations that induce the expression of metabolic enzymes, leading to enhanced formation of reactive oxygen species and DNA adducts, and consequently, an increase in the incidence of lung cancer. In contrast, in nonsmoking female lung cancer patients, removing tobacco exposure as a factor, estrogen exerts its proliferative capacity through its receptors ERα and ERβ, most notably ERβ, which influence lung carcinogenesis through genomic and nongenomic signaling.Different isoforms of ERβ can promote apoptosis and thus act as tumor suppressors, and the mechanism for the study of this receptor is not fully understood. In nonsmoking women with lung cancer, alterations in signaling pathways, activation of oncogenes with mutations in oncogenes, and overexposure to cooking fumes increase the risk of lung cancer in women. In this review, we describe the pathogenesis of the increased incidence of lung cancer in tobacco-exposed women, as well as possible etiologic factors and describe the pathogenesis of lung cancer in nonsmoking women.

RESUMEN

【Objective】 To investigate the development of the foot arch and develop a rehabilitation treatment plan for children with spastic diplegia of cerebral palsy gross motor function classification(GMFCS) system grade Ⅰ-Ⅱ. 【Methods】 Fifty children with spastic diplegia and flat exostosis with GMFCS grade Ⅰ-Ⅱ were selected into this study, and were divided into observation group (n=25) and control group (n=25) using the random number table method. The control group received conventional exercise therapy, while the observation group received arch correction exercises additionally. Both groups underwent treatment once a day for 5 days a week. Children in both groups were evaluated before and 6 months after the intervention. The arch index F, electronic plantar pressure measurement index, and the D and E scores of the Gross Motor Function Measure (GMFM-88) were used to assess the severity of clubfoot and the level of motor development. 【Results】 Bofore intervention, there were no significant differences in the arch index F, electronic plantar pressure measurement index, and GMFM-88 score between the observation group and the control group (P>0.05). After 6 months of intervention, the scores of arch index F(t=9.89, 5.35), and GMFM-88 (t=6.59, 3.46) in both groups increased significantly(P<0.05). The scores of foot arch index F (26.08±0.73) and GMFM-88 (30.24±7.94) in the observation group and control group were significantly higher than those in the control group (25.34±0.64, 25.20±7.06) (t=3.81, 2.37, P<0.05). Plantar pressure pictures showed a gradual increase in lateral foot pressure compared to medial pressure, and a decrease in pressure in the midfoot arch area, indicating a decrease in foot valgus and progressive development of the arch. 【Conclusion】 The comprehensive rehabilitation therapy technique incorporating arch correction and gymnastics treatment can promote the arch development in children with GMFCS grade Ⅰ-Ⅱ spastic diplegia, which is important for improving their foot and ankle function and motor development level.

RESUMEN

Hypomyelinating leukodystrophies (HLDs) are a group of neurodegenerative diseases characterized by decreased myelination in the central nervous system, with diverse clinical manifestations like psychomotor retardation and dyskinesia. Some HLDs patients have epilepsy, microcephaly and other clinical manifestations. At present, there is no specific treatment of HLDs, and the prognosis is usually poor.At present, with the wide application of gene screening in clinical practice, many pathogenic genes related to HLDs have been found. It is particularly important to clarify the pathogenesis and clinical phenotypic changes of HLDs.

RESUMEN

Background/Aims@#Data on the natural course of Chinese patients with ulcerative colitis (UC) was lacking. This study aimed to evaluate the natural history and prognosis of patients with UC in the past 15 years in China. @*Methods@#This cohort study included patients with UC in a tertiary hospital in southern China from 2007 to 2021 (cohort I: 2007–2011, cohort II: 2012–2016, cohort III: 2017–2021). Patients’ clinical characteristics and natural history were analyzed retrospectively. @*Results@#Of 1,139 included patients, 683 patients presented with proctitis or left-sided colitis at diagnosis and 38.5% of them (263/683) developed proximal disease extension. Fifty-eight percent of patients experienced relapse, chronic continuous and intermittent active course. Five patients (0.4%) developed colorectal tumors/dysplasia. The overall surgery rate was 8.6%, and the rates were 14.2%, 7.8%, and 8.0% in the 3 cohorts, respectively (P= 0.059). Average time from diagnosis to surgery decreased from cohorts I to III (144 months vs. 36 months, P< 0.001), so did the use of glucocorticoids (58.2% vs. 43.5%, P< 0.001) and immunosuppressants (14.1% vs. 13.4%, P= 0.016), and days of hospitalization (13 days vs. 9 days, P< 0.001). Biologics were used more frequently during the first year (0.8%, 2.1%, and 13.7% for cohorts I to III, respectively; P< 0.001). The rate of mucosal healing increased over time. @*Conclusions@#In Chinese UC patients, one-third of patients experienced proximal disease extension. The rates of malignancy and mortality were low. More biologics were used, while use of immunosuppressants and glucocorticoids were reduced over time. Early biologics use seemed to promote mucosal healing, but the rate of colectomy has not dramatically decreased.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND:For elderly patients with traumatic hip fractures, the related factors of prognosis are very complex, and the integrity of the lateral wall is one of the influencing factors. It is of important clinical value to understand the effect of lateral wall injury on the prognosis of femoral intertrochanteric fracture. OBJECTIVE:To evaluate the relationship between the integrity of the lateral wall and hip functional recovery and other outcomes in patients with femoral intertrochanteric fractures. METHODS:Totally 82 patients with femoral intertrochanteric fractures were screened and all patients received proximal femoral nail antirotation fixation.According to the thickness of the lateral wall, the patients were divided into the lateral wall intact group(n=31)and lateral wall risk group(n=51).The perioperative indexes,weight-bearing time, fracture healing time, hip joint function and range of motion, postoperative pain and complications were compared between the two groups. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:(1)The time of hospitalization and the number of fluoroscopies during operation in the lateral wall intact group were significantly lower than those in the lateral wall risk group(P<0.05),but there was no significant difference in other perioperative indexes.(2)Both groups were able to get down to the ground early after surgery and finally complete weight-bearing,but in the lateral wall risk group, the time of fracture healing was longer;the time of complete weight-bearing was significantly delayed;the Harris score of the last follow-up was lower;the range of motion of hip extension and flexion and neck trunk angle on the affected side were smaller(P<0.05).(3)There was no significant difference in the incidence of postoperative complications between the two groups, but the overall incidence of complications in the lateral wall intact group was significantly lower(P<0.05).(4)In summary, after internal fixation of proximal femoral nail antirotation, patients with the intact lateral wall had a relatively better prognosis than those with risk lateral wall.
