RESUMEN

Patients with deficiency of interleukin-36 receptor antagonist (DITRA), due to mutation of IL36RN, exhibit psoriatic phenotypes, typically generalized pustular psoriasis (GPP). We report a paediatric patient with DITRA, whose cutaneous lesions varied from psoriasis vulgaris in infancy to annular pustular psoriasis with acute exacerbation to GPP at 13 years of age. Conventional systemic treatments for GPP, which include oral retinoids, ciclosporin and methotrexate, are controversial in paediatric cases, because of their adverse effects and uncertain long-term consequences. Granulocyte monocyte apheresis, a process associated with few adverse events, promptly controlled the GPP of our paediatric patient, and has potential as a suitable alternative treatment for paediatric patients with DITRA.

RESUMEN

The methylene-C(14) group is hydroxylated yielding formate-C(14) in the microsome-reduced nicotinamide-adenine dinucleotide phosphate system in vitro and yielding expired C(14)O(2), in living mice and houseflies. Methylenedioxyphenyl compounds apparently serve as alternate substrates for this enzymatic hydroxylation system of microsomes, and thus reduce the rate of metabolism and prolong the action of certain drugs and insecticide chemicals.

RESUMEN

Benzanthrone (7-H-benz(de)anthracene-7-one, MW 230) and another polycyclic aromatic ketone (6-H-benzo(cd)pyrene-6-one, MW 254) are identified in particulate emissions from both air-cooled and water-cooled automobile engines operating on gasoline. The concentrations of these compounds are roughly equal to [Formula: see text] in these sources. Determination is carried out by capillary gas chromatography using glass and fused silica columns coated with SE-54, OV-1 or Dexsil 300. Results are confirmed by GC/MS. GC/MS data indicate that other polycyclic aromatic ketones are present at much lower concentrations than the two compounds described above. This is different from PAHs, where a large number of isomeric compounds are present at similar concentrations.
