RESUMEN

The routine clinical use of gated SPECT is inhibited by sophisticated, time-consuming processing techniques. The present paper describes a new technique for the simultaneous three-dimensional presentation of the amplitude and phase of the first Fourier harmonics, with the aim of obtaining detailed information about the ventricular motion in a relatively short time, from each angle of view of three-dimensional space. The method is simple and robust, and processing is automatic. It does not need carefully elaborated techniques for surface determination, because the cardiac surface is merely used as a reference skeleton onto which the functional information of amplitude and phase is mapped. The Fourier analysis before reconstruction results in running times shorter than 15 min and may further open the way for the routine use of gated SPECT.

RESUMEN

There are various factors which influence the oral status, among them the dental fear. Dental anxious individuals are likely to have more missing teeth and fewer filled ones. This study examined the association between dental anxiety and oral health status in parents and indirectly in children. The authors found that there is positive correlation between dental fear and missing teeth in the older generation. These tendency can also be seen in younger ones.

RESUMEN

The distribution and dynamics of T, B and O cell populations were investigated in healthy term and preterm babies of 22-38 weeks gestational age, in relation to gestational age and birth weight, using the single slide method. Children 1-14 years old served as controls.

RESUMEN

Autooxidation of bovine-brain homogenate proved to be a good model to determine the antioxidant capacity of sera. It was measured in parallel with the level of ceruloplasmin and apotransferrin in sera of 35 healthy children and 20 premature babies (gestational age 28-33 weeks). Antioxidant capacity was very low in premature babies with a nadir on the 4th postnatal day. Lipid-peroxidation of bovine-brain homogenate could be inhibited in vitro by the addition of exogen antioxidant. In this assay MTDQ-DS, Cavinton, DPA-HC1, vitamin E, A, C showed different antioxidant activity.

RESUMEN

Superoxide dismutase activity of alveolar macrophages, lung, liver, retina and choroid has been studied in rats and rabbits exposed to oxygen at high concentration by itself and in combination with D-penicillamine. Prolonged hyperoxia caused an increase in superoxide dismutase activity while D-penicillamine was found to inhibit the inductive effect of oxygen. It is assumed that the antioxidative effect of D-penicillamine makes it unnecessary to augment the production of superoxide dismutase.
