RESUMEN

Altogether 110 patients with initial signs of brain blood supply failure associated with essential hypertension and atherosclerosis were examined for vegetative responses (background, direction, reactivity, activity maintenance). Non-pharmacological correction (acupuncture, physiotherapy and dietetic management) was performed. The results obtained were statistically processed with the use of a correlation analysis. Undue sympathetic direction, especially in essential hypertension patients, was disclosed. Acupuncture turned out to be an effective method for the treatment of the initial signs of brain blood supply failure associated with essential hypertension. In atherosclerosis, that pathology was more amenable by correction with multimodality treatment.

RESUMEN

As many as 33 men with initial manifestations of brain blood supply insufficiency and transient disorders of brain circulation associated with cerebral atherosclerosis were examined for the vegetative characteristics (tone in the cardiovascular system, reactivity, physical activity supply) during age-associated hormonal rearrangement. RIA was used to measure the blood serum content of peripheral sexual hormones (testosterone, estradiol) and the content of gonadotropic hormones of the pituitary (follicle-stimulating and luteinizing). It has been revealed that the hypersympathetic direction of vegetative functions is combined with remarkable changes in the content of sex steroids in the form of testosteronemia and hyperestradiolemia. This dictates the necessity of correcting the function of the autonomic nervous system and the hormonal status.

RESUMEN

By using clinical and zonal REG methods the authors examined 204 patients with brain traumas. Such examinations permitted to detect symptoms of a disturbed cerebral vascular tone. In the acute period of a closed brain trauma changes of cerebral hemodynamics were not stable and were nonhomogenous by direction. A differential qualification of the general and cerebral hemodynamics in the remote period of a closed brain trauma permitted to distinguish 4 types of cerebral vascular disorders. The obtained results facilitate an objective assessment of brain traumas and their pathogenetical treatment.

RESUMEN

The time-course of changes in vegetative tests was studied in 47 men suffering from stage II opium dependence. The patients' age ranged from 18 to 28 years, with the dependence standing amounting to 1-10 years. Use was made of cardiointervalography to define the vegetative tone, as well as of the vagal and adrenaline tests to explore vegetative responsiveness. The orthostatic test was employed for studying vegetative maintenance of the activity. A group of patients (n = 22) was distinguished, with a positive attitude towards treatment and experienced in group psychotherapy, as was a group of patients (n = 25) with a negative attitude towards therapy and treated with medicaments. The results of the use of the vegetative tests indicate the normalization of the vegetative nervous system in the patients group with a positive attitude towards treatment and experienced in group psychotherapy and allow the conclusion about a greater efficacy of group psychotherapy as compared to the drug treatment in the management of patients suffering from opium dependence.

RESUMEN

Under observation there were 78 patients aged 41 to 70 years suffering from the glossalgia syndrome, as well as 25 clinically healthy subjects. An activation of the sympathoadrenal system was revealed in the patients. This was ascertained on the basis of the data on vanillylmandelic acid excretion with the urine. The excretion of that acid is known to be dependent on the intensity of the paraesthesias, the duration of the ailment and the character of concurrent visceral diseases. The results obtained are regarded as evidences of the participation of the vegetative nervous system in the mechanism of the glossalgia syndrome development.

RESUMEN

The authors determined content of steroid hormones (testosterone, estradiol) and gonadotropic pituitary hormones (follicle stimulating, luteinizing, prolactin) in blood plasma by means of radioimmunological assay and evaluated the state of cerebral hemodynamics by results of zonal rheoencephalography in 77 patients with initial manifestation of circulatory brain insufficiency, transient disorders of the cerebral circulation and in the restorative period of stroke against the background of cerebral atherosclerosis. Established was a significant correlation between the content steroid sex hormones and the main quantitative values of the rheoencephalograms of the above patients.

RESUMEN

Comprehensive clinical, biochemical, and electrophysiologic examinations of 250 glossalgia patients have revealed disintegration of supra-segmentary vegetative formations: increased activity of sympathoadrenal and serotonin systems, depressed kallikrein-kinin system, changed level of salivary electrolytes, reduced blood supply to the facial and oral tissues and decreased sensitivity of these tissues. Based on these findings, the authors suggest a scheme of glossalgia pathogenesis, with disorders in the autonomic nervous system underlying the development of the condition. Correction of the detected shifts contributes to a more effective therapy of glossalgia.
