RESUMEN

The level of obstetric morbidity in servicewomen remains high. Infertility occurs more often among the families of servicemen, than among the other families. The leading causative factor among the families suffering from infertility is tuboperitoneal or tubal (up to 85%). Assisted reproductive technologies are often the only possible mean to solve the problem of infertility in case of these forms of infertility.. The families of servicemen suffering from infertility were suggested the echelon principle of health care in military-medical institutions of the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation. Defined selection rules and directions, requiring the separation of the assisted reproductive technologies Clinic of Obstetrics and Gynaecology of the Kirov Military Medical Academy to carry out in vitro fertilization procedures.

RESUMEN

The authors presented results of the study concerning human papillomavirus infecting of military students of higher military educational institutions of the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation. In the Center for Obstetrics and Gynaecology of the Kirov Military-Medical Academy was performed a dynamic examination of 478 female cadets aged 17-25. The high level of high-risk HPV viruses was revealed during the examination what proves the necessity of prophylaxis enhancing with the aim to prevent gynecological diseases and reproductive health promotion. The main ways of cervical cancer prophylaxis are health education, in-depth medical examination of women with the aim to reveal and treat gynecological diseases (this medical examination should be carried out twice a year), primary prevention of cervical cancer by vaccination.

RESUMEN

The town of Zhovti Vody is a 'capital' of uranium mining and processing industry of Ukraine. The mining and processing of uranium has been carried out in this area for more than 60 y. During this period, due to increasing production activities, the town has grown significantly. As a result of production activities and also due to the human factor, the territory of the town was contaminated by radioactive rocks. In addition, out of ignorance, radioactive rocks were used in the construction of houses and roads. To normalize the radiation situation in the town, a targeted State Programme was adopted in 2003 for a period of 10 y. In 2013, the Programme was subsequently extended until 2022. In accordance with this Programme, decontamination of the urban territory, measurements of radon isotopes in houses and anti-radon reconstructions of the premises have been performed. The results of these works are described in this article.

RESUMEN

The first studies of radiation exposure in old mines of Kryvyi Rih Iron Ore Basin (Kryvbas) began relatively recently, about 20 years ago. The results of these studies have shown that the problem of radon is present in the major part of the Basin mines. In 6 of 8 mines tested, an excess of radiation safety standards for the equilibrium equivalent decay products concentration (EEC) of Radon-222 was observed. According to the sum of the main measured parameters of radiation situation, a preliminary assessment of doses to underground workers was made and a classification of the Basin mines according to radiation danger was developed. Results of the recent radiation surveys of these mines are shown in this article. Data on the incidence of lung cancer among the miners are presented and classified into age groups. Measures to improve the radiation situation in the mines of Kryvbas are considered.

RESUMEN

Survival was assessed among patients with disseminated renal carcinoma from different prognostic groups as established by MSKCC protocol. Multivariate evaluation pointed to prognostic value of IL-6 (spontaneous and induced production), IL-8 (spontaneous and induced production),TNF-alpha (spontaneous production), IFN-gamma (induced production), TNK-cells (CD3+CD16+CD56+), and T-regulatory cells (CD4+CD25+Treg). It was demonstrated that additional criteria may be used to evaluate prognosis.

RESUMEN

Changes in testosterone, prolactin and estradiol levels were evaluated vis-a-vis outcome and different patterns of androgen suppression--continuous androgen blockade or intermittent therapy--for prostate cancer patients. There was a significant difference between pre- (3.4 +/- 0.5 mM/l) and post- (1.0 +/- 0.3 mM/l) treatment levels of testosterone in cases of tumor progression and that in patients with positive response--(9.1 +/- 0.6 mM/l) and (4.3 +/- 0.4 mM/l), respectively. Relatively low levels of testosterone involved tumor progression. Prolactin level was significantly higher in patients with multiple distant metastases--(18.6 +/- 1.2 microg/l) and isolated foci--(9.5 +/- 0.8 microg/l) while tumor progression was associated with enhancing correlation with PSA concentration. It was established that prolactin level can be used as a criterion for resumption or discontinuation of intermittent therapy. Estradiol dynamics was similar to that of prolactin. The difference between pre- (172.9 +/- 9.8 pM/l) and post- (246.5 +/- 12.8 pM/l) treatment levels of estradiol in cases of tumor progression was significantly higher than that in patients with positive response (85.0 +/- 3.8 pM/l) and (76.9 +/- 4.4 pM/l), respectively.

RESUMEN

The article presents results of investigation on search and mapping of the old buried tailings with radioactive wastes on the territory of Kamianske City. For solving the problem used complex of methods. These methods are as follows: soil-gas 222Rn measurement and measurement of 222Rn flux density from the ground surface, gamma-radiation survey, prospecting drilling, gamma-ray logging and laboratory analysis of radionuclides. The leading method in this complex was the method of soil-gas 222Rn measurement. Using this method location of the tailings has been precisely defined. The tailings boundaries have been contoured in the plan. Other methods permitted to define such parameters as thickness of the wastes, their volume (~330 000 m3), radionuclide and chemical composition. It was found that radioactive residues occur at a depth from 2 to 11 m and contain in its composition 226Ra, 210Pb and 210Po in the range from 8370 to 37 270 Bq kg-1.

RESUMEN

One of the methods of recording late ventricular potentials, markers of decelerated depolarization of the heart ventricles, is depicted. The complex suggested by the authors consists of an interface connected to the personal computer, a block for cardiosignal processing, and an analog-to-digital converter. The averaging is realized after preliminary signal processing, which results in the computation of the mean period of the QRS. The mode of automatic amplification is provided as are alterations of the lower frequency of the section of the band-pass filters as well as the switching on of the rejection filter.

RESUMEN

Significant anomalous changes in the ultra low frequency range (approximately 0.01 Hz) were observed in both geoelectric and geomagnetic fields before the major volcano-seismic activity in the Izu Island region, Japan. The spectral intensity of the geoelectric potential difference between some electrodes on Niijima Island and the third principal component of geomagnetic field variations at an array network in Izu Peninsula started to increase from a few months before the onset of the volcano-seismic activity, culminating immediately before nearby magnitude 6 class earthquakes. Appearance of similar changes in two different measurements conducted at two far apart sites seems to provide information supporting the reality of preseismic electromagnetic signals.
