RESUMEN

A quinoline derivative 7-((2-aminoethyl)amino)-5-bromo-6-hydroxy-1-methylquinolin-1-ium-3-sulfonate (QEt) containing quinoline ring, -[Formula: see text] sulfonate, -OH phenol, and amine groups was synthesized and studied luminescence properties. The aqueous solutions QEt 10µM change luminescence color from green (λem = 490 nm) to yellow (λem = 563 nm) as increasing pH and the intensity at a peak of 563 nm is linearly proportional with pH value in the range of pH = 3,0-4,0. The QEt solution can be used as a chemosensor for Cu2+ with an LOD value at 0.66 [Formula: see text]. Along with the experiment, the structure, absorption and emission spectra of QEt have been investigated by TD-DFT calculation. The result shows that the absorption band centered at 420 nm is due to the electron transition from HOMO to LUMO (π → π*). The results also help to assign emission band centered at 490 nm is due to the S1 → S0 transition (LUMO → HOMO singlet transition), at 563 nm is due to the T1 → S0 transition (LUMO → HOMO triplet transition). The dependence of the relative intensity of each emission peak on pH, which is experimentally recorded, is explained based on the results of theoretical TD-DFT calculation.

OBJECTIVE: Stress is a significant concern in medical education, and identifying effective ways to deal with stress may help with students' mental health and professional development. This study aimed to examine the effects of the Transforming Stress Program (TSP) amongst first-year medical students on their stress mindset and coping strategies when confronted with stressors. METHODS: We conducted a quasi-experimental study at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. A total of 409 first-year students at the Faculty of Medicine were divided into intervention group (205 students) and control group (204 students). The 10-week TSP was delivered as an extra-curricular course. The training adopts psychoeducation based on Dialectical Behavioral Therapy with mindfulness as a fundamental practice incorporated into each component of the program. The intervention group received the training in the first semester; the control group received identical program in the second semester. Stress Mindset Measurement and Brief Coping Orientation to Problems Experienced were measured before the intervention (T0), immediately after intervention on Intervention group (T1), and six months after intervention on Intervention group (T2). RESULTS: At T1, the intervention group showed 65% improvements in stress mindset scores and increases in coping strategies scores in six domains (Problem solving, Social support, Humor, Religion, Venting, and Self-distraction) and decreases in three (Avoidance, Substance use, and Self-blame). The effect sizes were significant in all outcomes (Cohen's d > 0.2). Measurements of the control group did not change significantly in the same period. At T2, effects of the TSP were found decreased in some domains (Avoidance, Substance use, and Self-blame) compared to T1, but largely remained significantly better than T0. CONCLUSIONS: The TSP is a feasible and effective approach that significantly enhanced medical students' stress mindset and coping strategies. Some effects were still observable 6 months after the intervention. The relatively intensive intervention requires support of the school administration and staff.

OBJECTIVE: To determine the relationship between team dynamics with healthcare coordination and clinical job satisfaction of the community health workers (CHWs). METHODS: A cross-sectional study was conducted among 133 health workers (including doctors, nurses, or midwives) at 21 Commune Health Cent in Quoc Oai District, Vietnam, from July 2015 to May 2017. A self-administered questionnaire consisting of 5-Likert items regarding team dynamics and healthcare coordination clinical work satisfaction was utilised. Descriptive statistics and correlation matrix were applied for seven factors of team dynamic, clinical work satisfaction, and patient care coordination queried by primary care providers. Bayesian model averaging (BMA) was used to identify the predictors of the level of team dynamics and healthcare coordination. RESULTS: The mean score of overall team dynamics among the study participants was 4.08. Clinical work satisfaction and patient care coordination scores among resident physicians were higher than those of attending clinicians; however, the differences were not statistically significant. The results of BMA analysis indicated that team dynamics significantly associated with clinical work satisfaction, and it explains 9% of the total variance in clinical work satisfaction. Team dynamics level was also positively associated with patient care coordination. Patient care coordination was not a significant mediator between team dynamics and clinical work satisfaction. CONCLUSION: Team dynamics is a potential contributor to improving patient care coordination and clinical job satisfaction of CHWs. As no significant correlation between patient care coordination and clinical job satisfaction was observed, to improve team performance, providing conditions that facilitate team building and teamwork should be conducted for CHWs in CHCs.

Starting from eugenol (4-allyl-2-methoxyphenol) three new quinoline derivatives, namely 5-bromo-7-(carboxymethoxy)-6-hydroxy-1-methylquinolin-1-ium-3-sulfonate (Q2, C12H10BrNO7S), 5-amino-7-(carboxymethoxy)-6-hydroxyquinolin-1-ium-3-sulfonate (Q4, C11H10N2O7S) and 7-(carboxymethoxy)-5,6-dihydroxylquinolin-1-ium-3-sulfonate (Q6, C11H9NO8), have been synthesized and crystallised as dihydrate. The best planes through the quinoline ring and the carboxymethoxy substituent is 6.60 (14), 7.28 (6) and 4.73 (7)° for Q2, Q4 and Q6, respectively. The crystal packing of Q2 is characterised by O-H…O, π …π and Br …pyridine interactions. The two water molecules bridge three sulphate groups. Infinite chains of Q4 running in the direction [021] are formed by O/N-H …O hydrogen bonds at both ends of the molecule. Parallel chains interact by O/N-H…O hydrogen bonds and π…π and C=O…phenyl stacking. The -NH2 substituent bridges two sulphate groups, while the two water molecules bridge the other functional groups. The packing of Q6 consists of sheets of molecules interaction through O/N-H…O hydrogen bonds while the two water molecules bridge all function groups present. Parallel sheets interact through π…π and C=O…pyridine stacking. An aqueous solution of Q2 and its precursor 7-(carboxymethoxy)-6-hydroxyquinolin-1-ium-3-sulfonate (Q) exhibits fluorescence which is pH dependent. The fluorescence intensity of a 10 µM solution of Q containing Zn2+ reaches its maximum for a [Zn2+]:[Q] ratio of 1:1. The fluorescence properties of Q, Q2, Q4 and Q6 were further investigated by DFT calculation methods.

BACKGROUND: Digital health innovations can improve health system performance, yet previous experience has shown that many innovations do not advance beyond the pilot stage to achieve scale. Vietnam's National Immunization Information System (NIIS) began as a series of digital health pilots, first initiated in 2010, and was officially launched nationwide in 2017. The NIIS is one of the few examples of an electronic immunization registry (EIR) at national scale in low- and middle-income countries. OBJECTIVE: The aim of this study was to understand the determinants of scale-up of the national EIR in Vietnam. METHODS: This qualitative study explored the facilitators and barriers to national scale-up of the EIR in Vietnam. Qualitative data were collected from October to December 2019 through in-depth key informant interviews and desk review. The mHealth Assessment and Planning for Scale (MAPS) Toolkit guided the development of the study design, interview guides, and analytic framework. MAPS defines the key determinants of success, or the "axes of scale," to be groundwork, partnerships, financial health, technology and architecture, operations, and monitoring and evaluation. RESULTS: The partnership and operations axes were critical to the successful scale-up of the EIR in Vietnam, while the groundwork and monitoring and the evaluation axes were considered to be strong contributors in the success of all the other axes. The partnership model leveraged complementary strengths of the technical working group partners: the Ministry of Health General Department of Preventive Medicine, the National Expanded Program on Immunization, Viettel (the mobile network operator), and PATH. The operational approach to introducing the NIIS with lean, iterative, and integrated training and supervision was also a key facilitator to successful scale-up. The financial health, technology and architecture, and operations axes were identified as barriers to successful deployment and scale-up. Key barriers to scale-up included insufficient estimates of operational costs, unanticipated volume of data storage and transmission, lack of a national ID to support interoperability, and operational challenges among end users. Overall, the multiple phases of EIR deployment and scale-up from 2010 to 2017 allowed for continuous learning and improvement that strengthened all the axes and contributed to successful scale-up. CONCLUSIONS: The results highlight the importance of the measured, iterative approach that was taken to gradually expand a series of small pilots to nationwide scale. The findings from this study can be used to inform other countries considering, introducing, or in the process of scaling an EIR or other digital health innovations.

A loop-mediated isothermal amplification assay was developed. It was designed for recognizing Vibrio cholerae O1/O139, where atpA, rfbN, and wfbR genes were adopted. The assay specifically detected the target with sensitivities of 5-67 copies per reaction in 1 h. The assay will aid rapid detection of the cholera bacterium.

Here we examine the protein covalent structure of the vaccinia virus virion. Within two virion preparations, >88% of the theoretical vaccinia virus-encoded proteome was detected with high confidence, including the first detection of products from 27 open reading frames (ORFs) previously designated "predicted," "uncharacterized," "inferred," or "hypothetical" polypeptides containing as few as 39 amino acids (aa) and six proteins whose detection required nontryptic proteolysis. We also detected the expression of four short ORFs, each of which was located within an ORF ("ORF-within-ORF"), including one not previously recognized or known to be expressed. Using quantitative mass spectrometry (MS), between 58 and 74 proteins were determined to be packaged. A total of 63 host proteins were also identified as candidates for packaging. Evidence is provided that some portion of virion proteins are "nicked" via a combination of endoproteolysis and concerted exoproteolysis in a manner, and at sites, independent of virus origin or laboratory procedures. The size of the characterized virion phosphoproteome was doubled from 189 (J. Matson, W. Chou, T. Ngo, and P. D. Gershon, Virology 452-453:310-323, 2014, doi:http://dx.doi.org/10.1016/j.virol.2014.01.012) to 396 confident, unique phosphorylation sites, 268 of which were within the packaged proteome. This included the unambiguous identification of phosphorylation "hot spots" within virion proteins. Using isotopically enriched ATP, 23 sites of intravirion kinase phosphorylation were detected within nine virion proteins, all at sites already partially occupied within the virion preparations. The clear phosphorylation of proteins RAP94 and RP19 was consistent with the roles of these proteins in intravirion early gene transcription. In a blind search for protein modifications, cysteine glutathionylation and O-linked glycosylation featured prominently. We provide evidence for the phosphoglycosylation of vaccinia virus proteins. IMPORTANCE: Poxviruses are among the most complex and irregular virions, about whose internal structure little is known. To better understand poxvirus virion structure, imaging should be supplemented with other tools. Here, we provide a deep study of the covalent structure of the vaccinia virus virion using the various tools of contemporary mass spectrometry.

The optical spectra in the UV-VIS region of the hydrated doubly charged tetramer Ag4(2+) and hydrated multiply charged hexamer Ag6(p+) silver clusters encapsulated inside the sodalite cavity of an LTA-type zeolite have been systematically predicted using DFT, TD-DFT and CASSCF/CASPT2 methods. The optical behaviour of the model hydrated clusters [Ag6(H2O)8(Si24H24O36)](p+) is very sensitive to their charge. Among the cations [Ag6(H2O)8(Si24H24O36)](p+), only the embedded hydrated quadruply charged silver hexamer [Ag6(H2O)8(Si24H24O36)](4+) shows a strong absorption band at ∼420 nm (blue light) and emits light in red color. The absorption spectrum of the hydrated doubly charged silver tetramer cluster [Ag4(H2O)m(Si24H24O36)](2+), which shifts slightly and steadily with the increasing amount of interacting water molecules to longer wavelengths, has a strong peak in the blue region. The water environment forces the silver tetramer to relocate into one side of the cavity instead of at its center as in the case of the non-hydrated [Ag4(Si24H24O36)](2+) cluster. Water molecules act as ligands significantly splitting the energy levels of excited states of the Ag4(2+) and Ag6(4+) clusters. This causes the absorption spectra of the clusters to broaden and the emission to shift to the green-yellow and red part of the visible region.

A systematic investigation on structure, dissociation behavior, chemical bonding, and magnetic property of Cr-doped Cun clusters (n = 9-16) is carried out using the mean of density functional theory calculations. It is found that CrCu12 is a crucial size, preferring an icosahedral Cu12 cage with the central Cr dopant. Smaller cluster sizes appear as on the way to form the CrCu12 icosahedron while larger ones are produced by attaching additional Cu atoms to the CrCu12 core. The presence of Cr dopant obviously enhances the stability of CrCun clusters in comparison to that of pure counterparts. Exceptionally stable CrCu12 has an 18-electron closed-shell electronic structure, mimicking a noble gas in the viewpoint of superatom concept. Analysis on cluster electronic structure shows that the interplay between 3d orbitals of Cr and 4s orbitals of Cu has a vital role on the magnetic properties of CrCun clusters.

A previously described mammalian cell activity, called VPg unlinkase, specifically cleaves a unique protein-RNA covalent linkage generated during the viral genomic RNA replication steps of a picornavirus infection. For over three decades, the identity of this cellular activity and its normal role in the uninfected cell had remained elusive. Here we report the purification and identification of VPg unlinkase as the DNA repair enzyme, 5'-tyrosyl-DNA phosphodiesterase-2 (TDP2). Our data show that VPg unlinkase activity in different mammalian cell lines correlates with their differential expression of TDP2. Furthermore, we show that recombinant TDP2 can cleave the protein-RNA linkage generated by different picornaviruses without impairing the integrity of viral RNA. Our results reveal a unique RNA repair-like function for TDP2 and suggest an unusual role in host-pathogen interactions for this cellular enzyme. On the basis of the identification of TDP2 as a potential antiviral target, our findings may lead to the development of universal therapeutics to treat the millions of individuals afflicted annually with diseases caused by picornaviruses, including myocarditis, aseptic meningitis, encephalitis, hepatitis, and the common cold.

BACKGROUND: Mosquito eggshells show remarkable diversity in physical properties and structure consistent with adaptations to the wide variety of environments exploited by these insects. We applied proteomic, transcriptomic, and hybridization in situ techniques to identify gene products and pathways that participate in the assembly of the Aedes aegypti eggshell. Aedes aegypti population density is low during cold and dry seasons and increases immediately after rainfall. The survival of embryos through unfavorable periods is a key factor in the persistence of their populations. The work described here supports integrated vector control approaches that target eggshell formation and result in Ae. aegypti drought-intolerant phenotypes for public health initiatives directed to reduce mosquito-borne diseases. RESULTS: A total of 130 proteins were identified from the combined mass spectrometric analyses of eggshell preparations. CONCLUSIONS: Classification of proteins according to their known and putative functions revealed the complexity of the eggshell structure. Three novel Ae. aegypti vitelline membrane proteins were discovered. Odorant-binding and cysteine-rich proteins that may be structural components of the eggshell were identified. Enzymes with peroxidase, laccase and phenoloxidase activities also were identified, and their likely involvements in cross-linking reactions that stabilize the eggshell structure are discussed.

This study evaluates the potential use of discarded plasterboard paper as fibers from buildings to reinforce concrete. Various concentrations of wastepaper fibers (0.5%, 1%, 1.5%, 2%, and 2.5% by weight of the binder) were investigated in this research. To mitigate the water absorption effect of the paper fibers, metakaolin was employed as a partial cement replacement. The results demonstrate that the inclusion of the wastepaper fiber enhances the mechanical and durability performance of the concrete. The optimal fiber proportion was identified as 1%, leading to a 29% increase in the compressive strength, a 38% increase in the splitting tensile strength, a 12% decrease in the water absorption, and a 23% decrease in the drying shrinkage with respect to the concrete containing 20% metakaolin. However, exceeding this optimal fiber content results in decreased mechanical and durability properties due to the fiber agglomeration and non-uniform fiber distribution within the concrete matrix. Based on the microstructural analysis, the improved performance of the concrete is ascribed to decreased porosity, more refined pore structure, and reduced propagation of microcracks within the concrete matrix in the presence of wastepaper fiber. According to the results, concrete containing 20% metakaolin and 1% wastepaper fiber exhibits durability and mechanical properties comparable to those of the traditional concrete. This finding highlights the significant promise of reducing dependency on conventional cement and incorporating suitable recycled materials, such as discarded plasterboard, and secondary by-products like metakaolin. Such a strategy encourages the preservation of resources, reduction in carbon dioxide emissions, and a decrease in the ecological footprint resulting from concrete production.

PURPOSE: The objective of this study is to identify and detail the radiologic manifestations of surgical site and disseminated Mycobacterium chimaera (MC) infection. The aim is to facilitate early identification and diagnosis of MC, considering its indolent nature and the challenges involved in clinically and pathologically establishing the diagnosis. PATIENTS AND METHODS: This was a retrospective cohort study reviewing computed tomography (CT), positron emission tomography (PET)/CT, and magnetic resonance imaging examinations in patients over the age of 18 years with a history of open heart surgery and a clinical or pathologic diagnosis of MC. Two radiology residents, a fellowship-trained nuclear medicine radiologist, and a fellowship-trained cardiothoracic radiologist performed consensus reads to determine the imaging findings seen in MC infection. RESULTS: Twenty-five patients were included. Localized, surgical site infection was more common than disseminated disease. Typical CT findings included peristernal soft tissue thickening, sinus tracts often extending to the cutaneous surface, slowly enlarging fluid collections, and sternal osteolysis. PET/CT findings demonstrated hypermetabolic activity in nearly all patients localized to sites of infection. Imaging findings for disseminated infection included hepatosplenomegaly, lymphadenopathy, involvement of the central nervous system, discitis/osteomyelitis, and distant abscesses. CONCLUSIONS: Imaging plays a vital role in suggesting possible surgical sites and disseminated MC infection acquired from open heart surgery. Radiologists must keep a high index of suspicion given the indolent nature and subtle imaging change over time. PET/CT is most useful in diagnosis and helps in differentiating between a sterile postoperative fluid collection or scarring and active MC infection and helps provide a target for debridement.

Alterations in signaling pathways and modulation of cell metabolism are associated with the pathogenesis of cancers, including hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Small ubiquitin-like modifier (SUMO) proteins and NF-κB family play major roles in various cellular processes. The current study aims to determine the expression profile of SUMO and NF-κB genes in HCC tumors and investigate their association with the clinical outcome of HCC. The expression of 5 genes - SUMO1, SUMO2, SUMO3, NF-κB p65, and NF-κB p50 - was quantified in tumor and adjacent non-tumor tissues of 58 HBV-related HCC patients by real-time quantitative PCR and was analyzed for the possible association with clinical parameters of HCC. The expression of SUMO2 was significantly higher in HCC tumor tissues compared to the adjacent non-tumor tissues (P = .01), while no significant difference in SUMO1, SUMO3, NF-κB p65, and NF-κB p50 expression was observed between HCC tumor and non-tumor tissues (P > .05). In HCC tissues, a strong correlation was observed between the expression of SUMO2 and NF-κB p50, between SUMO3 and NF-κB p50, between SUMO3 and NF-κB p65 (Spearman rho = 0.83; 0.82; 0.772 respectively; P < .001). The expression of SUMO1, SUMO2, SUMO3, NF-κB p65, and NF-κB p50 was decreased in grade 3 compared to grades 1 and 2 in HCC tumors according to the World Health Organization grades system. Our results highlighted that the SUMO2 gene is upregulated in tumor tissues of patients with HCC, and is related to the development of HCC, thus it may be associated with the pathogenesis of HCC.

RESUMEN

Pneumorrhachis (PR) is an uncommon condition characterized by the accumulation of air within the spinal canal. This finding may occur due to various causes, mostly after trauma and medical procedures. It can manifest with various features depending on the underlying cause, the location, and the extent of the air trapped. Clinically, the symptoms in affected patients can span a spectrum, ranging from being asymptomatic to manifesting as radiculopathies resulting from compression. The pneumorrhachis-related cauda equina syndrome is incredibly rare and typically appears as a large volume of air causing compression or irritation of the nerve roots in the lower spinal cord. In this report, we present a female patient whose cauda equina syndrome developed as a result of accidental extradural pneumorrhachis after epidural injection in the lumbar spine.

We have quantitatively profiled the proteins of vaccinia virus-infected HEK293T cells early and late during vaccinia virus infection. Proteins corresponding to 4,326 accessions were identified, the products of 3,798 genes. One hundred thirty-six of the proteins were vaccinia virus-encoded (∼64% of the known vaccinia virus proteome). The remaining accessions were from the host cell. A total of 3,403 of the 4,326 accessions could be confidently quantitated at the precursor peptide level. Although vaccinia virus gene products spanned the entire abundance dynamic range of the cellular proteome, nearly all of the proteome dynamics observed as a result of infection were manifest in the virus gene products with very little plasticity in the host cell proteome. The vaccinia virus gene products could be grouped into four kinetic classes (i.e., four combinations of pre- and postreplicative expression). These protein kinetic classes reflected, almost entirely, the corresponding gene classes within the recently characterized vaccinia virus transcriptome map. The few cellular gene products that showed notable changes in abundance upon vaccinia virus infection were concentrated largely in just a few functional groups. After all of the quantitated cellular gene products were assigned to Gene Ontology (GO)-specific groups, quantitation values for a number of these GO-specific groups were significantly skewed toward over- or underabundance with respect to the global distribution of quantitation values. Quantitative analysis of host cell functions reflected several known facets of virus infection, along with some novel observations.

Optical properties of silver Ag(n) nanoclusters are demonstrated to be dependent on their size, structure and charge state. It is found that when being contained in the sodalite cavity of LTA zeolite the tetradecanuclear hexacation silver cluster Ag14(6+) is stable. Its lower-lying states and optical spectrum are theoretically determined using the quantum chemical TD-DFT method. Its ground state possesses an outer-shell electron configuration of A1g(2)T2g(6) mimicking the s(2)p(6) valence of noble gas atoms. These frontier orbitals are constructed from 5s,5p(Ag)-AOs with contributions from framework oxygen atoms. Light absorption of Ag14(6+) embedded in the sodalite cage which is characterized by strong peaks centered at 331 and 476 nm (transitions 5s,p(Ag) → 5s,p(Ag)) leads to much longer wavelength emission. The sodalite cage, as a container, stabilizes the central Ag14(6+) cluster by electrostatic attraction. The absorption spectrum of the isovalent neutral Ag8 cluster embedded inside the same sodalite cavity is also simulated using TD-DFT and CASPT2 methods. This absorption spectrum which is similar to that of the Ag14(6+) cluster has two absorption bands in the near UV and visible regions.

The living environment might play an important role in shaping the pro-environmental intentions of the people. However, there was limited research on how the living environments influenced the pro-environmental intentions of people. The objectives of this study are to evaluate the direct effects of physical and social environments on pro-environmental intentions as well as the mediating effects of environmental attitudes and life satisfaction. Structural Equation Modeling was used with data extracted from the 2020 Taiwan Social Change Survey database (n = 1671). Results showed direct positive associations of both physical and social environments with pro-environmental intentions (ß = 0.133 and ß = 0.076, respectively) as well as indirect positive associations via the life satisfaction-mediating pathway (ß = 0.031 and ß = 0.044, respectively). The physical environment negatively influenced pro-environmental intentions through the environmental attitude pathway (ß = - 0.255) with unpleasant neighborhood enhancing the pro-environmental intentions of residents. Taken together, the overall effect of the physical environment was negative (ß = - 0.093) while that of the social environment was positive (ß = 0.109). The most important factors for the physical and social environments were disturbance and livability in north, central and south Taiwan, neighborhood pollution and interestingness in east Taiwan. Accordingly, minimizing disturbance and neighborhood pollution of the physical environment could have the highest effect on pro-environmental intentions enhancement in western and eastern Taiwan, respectively. For the social environment, improving livability in the west and interestingness in the east would have an even larger impact on pro-environmental intentions. This study emphasized the importance of neighborhood environment on the environmental intentions of the people. The study also identified the important factors for policymakers to target to achieve the best effect on improving environmental intentions.

Biological structures possess excellent damage tolerance, which makes them attractive for ballistic protection applications. This paper develops a finite element modelling framework to investigate the performance of several biological structures that are most relevant for ballistic protection, including nacre, conch, fish scales, and crustacean exoskeleton. Finite element simulations were conducted to determine the geometric parameters of the bio-inspired structures that can survive projectile impact. The performances of the bio-inspired panels were benchmarked against a monolithic panel with the same 4.5 mm overall thickness and projectile impact condition. It was found that the biomimetic panels that were considered possessed better multi-hit resistant capabilities compared to the selected monolithic panel. Certain configurations arrested a fragment simulating projectile with an initial impact velocity of 500 m/s, which was similar to the performance of the monolithic panel.

Background: In Vietnam, the rate of absolute uterine factor infertility is increasing, but no study has been published on uterine transplantation. The present study was designed to comprehensively observe the canine uterine anatomy and to examine the possibility of using a living canine donor for uterine transplantation training and further research. Methods: Ten female Vietnamese mixed-breed dogs were sacrificed for anatomical research, and 15 additional pairs were used to evaluate the novel uterine transplant model. Results: The anatomic features of the canine uterus differed considerably from those of the human uterus, with the uterine vessels originating from branches of the pudendal vessels (also known as the vaginal vessels). The uterine vascular pedicle had a small diameter (1 to 1.5 mm for arteries and 1.2 to 2.0 mm for veins) and required manipulation under a microscope. To perform uterine transplantation, the donor specimen's artery and vein lengths were successfully reconstructed by anastomosis between both sides of the vasculature using autologous Y-shaped subcutaneous veins. The living-donor uterine transplantation model constructed in this study was feasible, with the transplanted uterus surviving in 86.7% of cases (13/15). Conclusions: Uterine transplantation was successfully performed in a Vietnamese canine living donor model. This model could be helpful in uterine transplantation training and improve the transplantation success rate in humans.
