RESUMEN

Characteristic signs of a rare abnormality of the major vessels, an aortopulmonary septum defect, are described. This pathology is associated with shunting and discharge of blood from the left to the right and an early development of pulmonary hypertension. The clinical course of the defect depends on the degree of the hemodynamic impairment in the pulmonary circulation. It has been elucidated that aortography with catheterization and contrast examination of the right portions of the heart is the method of choice in the diagnosis of this defect. Surgical correction of the defect is the only radical method of treatment. The long-term results of surgical treatment are promising.

RESUMEN

Using bicycle ergometry in combination with quantitative and qualitative assessment of ECG changes (in 605 coronary patients), and with direct measurement of oxygen consumption and systemic oxygen supply efficiency (118 coronary patients), a possibility of non-invasive assessment of the severity of coronary arterial affection prior to coronary angiography and the identification of patients with poor prognosis is demonstrated. This assessment lends a more objective foundation to the determination of indications for coronary angiography and prospective aortal-coronary shunting.

RESUMEN

After isolation of the chick duodenum from the lower parts of the intestine, no adaptation of the sucrose activity or hexose transport occurred. The data suggest that the adaptive factor is formed in the duodenum under the influence of sugars.

RESUMEN

Characteristics of membrane digestion in birds as well as its role in splitting up carbohydrates and proteins revealed the regulatory character of membrane digestion enzymes, their linkage to the enterocyte membrane, dependence on the age and the topography of the small intestine. The systems of active and exchange transport as well as its energetics are described. A close connection between membrane hydrolysis and absorption is shown as actualized by specialized digestive-transport complexes functioning in the enterocyte membrane. Fast and slow adaptation of membrane digestion and absorption are described as well as the ability of parasubstrate regulation of these systems.

RESUMEN

In experiments of 1, 15 and 30-day chicks, studies have been made of adaptational changes in the activity of maltase and saccharase from different parts of the small intestine during feeding by sucrose. It was found that the increase in the activity of the mentioned enzymes during sucrose utilization takes place only in 30-day chicks. At earlier stages of ontogenesis, adaptational changes in the activity of disaccharidases are directed to the enhancement of the decrease in the activity of maltase and saccharase in the small intestine, this decrease being observed at these stages in control chicks.

RESUMEN

In the article, a new method of diagnosing the extent of the tumor spread in the bronchial wall without involvement of the mucosa (a peripbronchial form of the growth) is described. The method consists of two components - angiography of bronchial arteries with subsequent injection of a staining material in the corresponding bronchial artery and bronchoscopy, by means of which staining of the mucous membrane of the bronchial tree is observed. In case of tumor infiltration of the bronchial wall staining was absent completely or partially. A clinical trial of the method indicated its high efficacy.

RESUMEN

After 466 operations performed by the transsternal access under conditions of artificial blood circulation for congenital heart diseases anterior purulent mediastinitis developed in 78 patients (16,73%). Different methods of treatment were used: open wound method, repeated mediastinotomy, drainage of the retrosternal space and a method of flowing-fractional washing. Postoperative lethality was reduced (to 0) and duration of treatment was shortened (from 80 to 24,5 days).
