RESUMEN

The composition of waste-activated sludge (WAS) is complex, containing a large amount of harmful substances, which pose a threat to the environment and human health. The reduction and resource utilization of sludge has become a development demand in sludge treatment and disposal. Based on the technical bottlenecks in the practical application of direct anaerobic digestion technology, this study adopted two different thermal and thermal-alkali hydrolysis technologies to pretreat sludge. A pilot-scale experiment was conducted to investigate the experimental conditions, parameters, and effects of two hydrolysis technologies. This study showed that the optimal hydrolysis temperature was 70 °C, the hydrolysis effect and pH can reach equilibrium with the hydrolysis retention time was 4-8 h, and the optimal alkali concentration range was 0.0125-0.015 kg NaOH/kg dry-sludge. Thermal-alkali combination treatment greatly improved the performance of methane production, the addition of NaOH increased methane yield by 31.2% than that of 70 °C thermal hydrolysis. The average energy consumption is 75 kWh/m3 80% water-content sludge during the experiment. This study provides a better pretreatment strategy for exploring efficient anaerobic digestion treatment technologies suitable for southern characteristic sewage sludge.

To investigate the influence of carbonization process parameters on the characteristics of municipal sludge carbonization products, this study selected carbonization temperatures of 300-700 °C and carbonization times of 0.5-1.5 h to carbonize municipal sludge. The results showed that with an increase in temperature and carbonization time, the sludge was carbonized more completely, and the structure and performance characteristics of the sludge changed significantly. Organic matter was continuously cracked, the amorphous nature of the material was reduced, its morphology was transformed into an increasing number of regular crystalline structures, and the content of carbon continued to decrease, from the initial 52.85 to 38.77%, while the content of inorganic species consisting continued to increase. The conductivity was reduced by 87.8%, and the degree of conversion of salt ions into their residual and insoluble states was significant. Natural water absorption in the sludge decreased from 8.13 to 1.29%, and hydrophobicity increased. The dry-basis higher calorific value decreased from 8,703 to 3,574 kJ/kg. Heavy metals were concentrated by a factor of 2-3, but the content of the available state was very low. The results of this study provide important technological support for the selection of suitable carbonization process conditions and for resource utilization.

The zebrafish retina grows for a lifetime. Whether embryonic and postembryonic retinogenesis conform to the same developmental program is an outstanding question that remains under debate. Using single-cell RNA sequencing of ∼20,000 cells of the developing zebrafish retina at four different stages, we identified seven distinct developmental states. Each state explicitly expresses a gene set. Disruption of individual state-specific marker genes results in various defects ranging from small eyes to the loss of distinct retinal cell types. Using a similar approach, we further characterized the developmental states of postembryonic retinal stem cells (RSCs) and their progeny in the ciliary marginal zone. Expression pattern analysis of state-specific marker genes showed that the developmental states of postembryonic RSCs largely recapitulated those of their embryonic counterparts, except for some differences in rod photoreceptor genesis. Thus, our findings reveal the unifying developmental program used by the embryonic and postembryonic retinogenesis in zebrafish.

Deep-ultraviolet (DUV) nonlinear optical (NLO) materials play a crucial role in cutting-edge laser technology. In order to solve the serious layered growth tendency of the sole commercial DUV NLO crystal KBe2BO3F2 (KBBF), developing alternative systems of compounds with bulk crystal habits has become an urgent task for practical applications. Herein, a novel strategy was developed by applying non-centrosymmetric (NCS) cancrinite (CAN)-type zincophosphates {Na6(OH)2(H2O)2}Cs2[ZnPO4]6 with bulk-crystal habits as the prototype to design new DUV NLO crystals. Two new anhydrous alkali zincophosphates, namely, {(Li6 -xNaxO)A2}[(ZnPO4)6] (A = Cs, Rb; x = 2-3) crystallizing in the NCS hexagonal space group P63 (no. 173) with a CAN-type framework, were successfully synthesized via a modified fluoro-solvo-hydrothermal method by applying triethylamine (TEA) and concentrated NaF solution as a co-solvent. Interestingly, the rigidity of the NCS CAN-type framework acting as the host ensures the non-centrosymmetry of the resulting new compounds. Meanwhile, the replacement of water molecules by guest cationic species in the channels or cages can greatly improve the thermal stability of the resultant crystal and tune its NLO properties. The synergetic effect of the host framework and the guest species makes the two compounds transparent down to the DUV region (<200 nm) and exhibit SHG effects. Therefore, the proposed rational design strategy of applying the known zeotype NCS frameworks as prototypes together with the modified fluoro-solvo-hydrothermal method opens a great avenue for highly effectively exploring new DUV NLO materials.

In this study, we extracted and identified the active components of the Asian citrus psyllid, Diaphorina citri sex pheromones to provide a basis for further development of sex attractants. Under laboratory conditions, mating activity in D. citri started 3 d after emergence, which peaked at 6-7 d, and mating activity had no obvious peak during the observed period 7:00-21:00 h. Additionally, D. citri males were attracted to the emanations from conspecific females, especially to the n-hexane extracts of the pheromone. A total of 17 compounds were identified from the n-hexane extracts of female and male D. citri by gas chromatography-mass spectrometer (GC-MS). Among them, 13 compounds were identified from the female D. citri n-hexane extracts, of which 7 (dichloromethane, acetic acid, toluene, butyl acetate, ethyl carbamoylacetate, α-pinene, and 1-nonanal) were not found in the male D. citri n-hexane extracts. In addition, a total of 33 compounds were identified from the solid phase microextraction (SPME) volatiles of the male and female D. citri adults. Among these, 17 compounds were identified from the female D. citri volatiles, of which 6 (cycloheptatriene, 5-methyl-2-phenylindole, 1-dodecanol, cis-11-hexadecena, dodecyl aldehyde, and nerylacetone) were not identified in the volatiles of the D. citri males. It was found that males were significantly attracted to 0.1-10 µL/mL acetic acid and 1-nonanal with the selection rates ranging from 62.04%-70.56% and 62.22%-67.22%, respectively. Therefore, the results of this study suggest that acetic acid and 1-nonanal might be the active compounds of the female D. citri sex pheromones.

STUDY QUESTION: Would the construction of a competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA) network help identify new drug targets for the development of potential therapies for polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS)? SUMMARY ANSWER: Both Food and Drug Administartion (FDA)-approved and candidate drugs could be identified by combining bioinformatics approaches with clinical sample analysis based on our established ceRNA network. WHAT IS KNOWN ALREADY: Thus far, no effective drugs are available for treating PCOS. ceRNAs play crucial roles in multiple diseases, and some of them are in current use as prognostic biomarkers as well as for chemo-response and drug prediction. STUDY DESIGN, SIZE, DURATION: For the bioinformatics part, five microarrays of human granulosa cells were considered eligible after applying strict screening criteria and were used to construct the ceRNA network for target identification. For population-based validation, samples from 24 women with and without PCOS were collected from January 2021 to July 2021. PARTICIPANTS/MATERIALS, SETTING, METHODS: The public data included 27 unaffected women and 25 women with PCOS, according to the Rotterdam criteria proposed in 2003. The limma and RobustRankAggreg R packages were used to identify differentially expressed messenger RNAs and noncoding RNAs. Gene Ontology, Reactome and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Gemomes (KEGG) enrichment analyses were performed. A ceRNA network was constructed by integrating the differentially expressed genes and target genes. The population-based validation included human luteinized granulosa cell samples from 12 unaffected women and 12 women with PCOS. Quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction was conducted to detect the levels of mRNAs and microRNAs (miRNAs). Connectivity map and computational model algorithms were implemented to predict therapeutic drugs from the ceRNA network. Additionally, we compared the predicted drugs with known clinical medications in DrugBank. MAIN RESULTS AND THE ROLE OF CHANCE: A set of 10 mRNAs, 11 miRNAs and 53 long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) were differentially expressed. Functional enrichment analysis revealed the highest relevance to immune system-related biological processes and signalling pathways, such as cytokine secretion and leucocyte chemotaxis. A ceRNA consisting of two lncRNAs, two miRNAs and five mRNAs was constructed. Through network construction via bioinformatic analysis, we identified some already approved drugs (such as metformin) that could target some molecules in the network as potential drug candidates for PCOS. LARGE SCALE DATA: Public sequencing data were obtained from GSE34526, GSE84376, GSE102293, GSE106724 and GSE114419, which have been deposited in the Gene Expression Omnibus database. LIMITATIONS, REASONS FOR CAUTION: Experiments, such as immunoprecipitation, luciferase reporter assays and animal model studies, are needed to validate the potential targets in the ceRNA network before the identified drug candidates can be tested using cellular and animal model systems. WIDER IMPLICATIONS OF THE FINDINGS: Our findings provide new bioinformatic insight into the possible pathogenesis of PCOS from ceRNA network analysis, which has not been previously studied in the human reproductive field. Our study also reveals some potential drug candidates for the future development of possible therapies against PCOS. BACKGROUND: This study was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of the implantation of foldable capsular vitreous body (FCVB) in severe retinal detachment eyes. METHODS: A retrospective study in retinal detachment eyes was performed at Shandong Provincial Hospital Affiliated to Shandong First Medical University. A standard three-port pars plana vitrectomy was performed, and the FCVB was triple folded and implanted into the vitreous cavity. The silicone oil (SO) was then injected into the capsule of the FCVB to support the retina and eye. During the follow-up period, The treated eyes were examined by ophthalmoscopy, fundus photography, and tonometry. B-scan ultrasonography, optical coherence tomography (OCT), and computed tomography (CT), were also performed. RESULTS: From May 2020 to November 2021, 31 cases with severe retinal detachment were enrolled in the study. The postoperative follow-up time gradient ranged from 1 to 72 weeks, At various observation time points during the 72 weeks after surgery, The postoperative IOP was maintained at around 10 mmhg at various time points, with a slight decrease compared to the preoperative IOP (14.2 ± 4.6 mmHg n = 18), and was statistically significant. 9 of 31 patients had clear refractive media, both fundus and OCT showed retinal reattachment, OCT showed the 200 µm thick FCVB capsule support retina. The remaining 22 patients with unclear refractive media, B-scan showed arcuate hyperechoes in front of the retina. There was also no significant difference in visual acuity compared to preoperative. The FCVB was well positioned in the vitreous cavity, and no serious complications such as endophthalmitis, glaucoma, silicone oil emulsification, product exposure, or sympathetic uveitis were found. CONCLUSIONS: FCVB has retinal support with certain ability to maintain IOP and eye morphology and avoid eye removal in patients with severe retinal detachment during the 72-week observation period.

The tropomyosin receptor kinases (TRKs) have been validated as effective targets in anticancer drug discovery. Two first-generation TRK inhibitors have been approved into market and displayed an encouraging therapeutic response in cancer patients harboring TRK fusion proteins. However, acquired resistance mediated by secondary TRK mutations especially in the xDFG motif remains an unsolved challenge in the clinic. Herein, we report the preclinical pharmacological results of JND4135, a new type II pan-TRK inhibitor, in overcoming TRK mutant resistance, including the xDFG mutations in vitro and in vivo. At a low nanomolar level, JND4135 displays a strong activity against wild-type TRKA/B/C and secondary mutations involving xDFG motif substitutions in kinase assays and cellular models; occupies the TRK proteins for an extended time; and has a slower dissociation rate than other TRK inhibitors. Moreover, by intraperitoneal injection, JND4135 exhibits tumor growth inhibition (TGI) of 81.0% at a dose of 40 mg/kg in BaF3-CD74-TRKA-G667C mice xenograft model. Therefore, JND4135 can be considered as a lead compound for drug discovery overcoming the resistance of TRK inhibitor drugs mediated by xDFG mutations.

BACKGROUND: With the advancement of sequencing technologies, a plethora of noncoding RNA (ncRNA) species have been widely discovered, including microRNAs (miRNAs), circular RNAs (circRNAs), and long ncRNAs (lncRNAs). However, the mechanism of these non-coding RNAs in diseases caused by enterovirus d68 (EV-D68) remains unclear. The goal of this research was to identify significantly altered circRNAs, lncRNAs, miRNAs, and mRNAs pathways in RD cells infected with EV-D68, analyze their target relationships, demonstrate the competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA) regulatory network, and evaluate their biological functions. METHODS: The total RNAs were sequenced by high-throughput sequencing technology, and differentially expressed genes between control and infection groups were screened using bioinformatics method. We discovered the targeting relationship between three ncRNAs and mRNA using bioinformatics methods, and then built a ceRNA regulatory network centered on miRNA. The biological functions of differentially expressed mRNAs (DEmRNAs) were discovered through GO and KEGG enrichment analysis. Create a protein interaction network (PPI) to seek for hub mRNAs and learn more about protein-protein interactions. The relative expression was verified using RT-qPCR. The effects of Fos and ARRDC3 on virus replication were confirmed using RT-qPCR, virus titer (TCID50/ml), Western blotting. RESULTS: 375 lncRNAs (154 upregulated and 221 downregulated), 33 circRNAs (32 upregulated and 1 downregulated), 96 miRNAs (49 upregulated and 47 downregulated), and 239 mRNAs (135 upregulated and 104 downregulated) were identified as differently in infected group compare to no-infected group. A single lncRNA or circRNA can be connected with numerous miRNAs, which subsequently coregulate additional mRNAs, according to the ceRNA regulatory network. The majority of DEmRNAs were shown to be connected to DNA binding, transcription regulation by RNA polymerase II, transcription factor, MAPK signaling pathways, Hippo signal pathway, and apoptosis pathway, according to GO and KEGG pathway enrichment analysis. The hub mRNAs with EGR1, Fos and Jun as the core were screened through PPI interaction network. We preliminarily demonstrated that the Fos and ARRDC3 genes can suppress EV-D68 viral replication in order to further verify the results of full transcriptome sequencing. CONCLUSION: The results of whole transcriptome analysis after EV-D68 infection of RD cells were first reported in this study, and for the first time, a ceRNA regulation network containing miRNA at its center was established for the first time. The Fos and ARRDC3 genes were found to hinder viral in RD cells. This study establishes a novel insight host response during EV-D68 infection and further investigated potential drug targets.

Whole-exome sequencing has been successful in identifying genetic factors contributing to familial or sporadic Parkinson's disease (PD). However, this approach has not been applied to explore the impact of de novo mutations on PD pathogenesis. Here, we sequenced the exomes of 39 early onset patients, their parents, and 20 unaffected siblings to investigate the effects of de novo mutations on PD. We identified 12 genes with de novo mutations (MAD1L1, NUP98, PPP2CB, PKMYT1, TRIM24, CEP131, CTTNBP2, NUS1, SMPD3, MGRN1, IFI35, and RUSC2), which could be functionally relevant to PD pathogenesis. Further analyses of two independent case-control cohorts (1,852 patients and 1,565 controls in one cohort and 3,237 patients and 2,858 controls in the other) revealed that NUS1 harbors significantly more rare nonsynonymous variants (P = 1.01E-5, odds ratio = 11.3) in PD patients than in controls. Functional studies in Drosophila demonstrated that the loss of NUS1 could reduce the climbing ability, dopamine level, and number of dopaminergic neurons in 30-day-old flies and could induce apoptosis in fly brain. Together, our data suggest that de novo mutations could contribute to early onset PD pathogenesis and identify NUS1 as a candidate gene for PD.

BACKGROUND: Long non-coding RNAs (LncRNAs) have been reported to play important roles in the pathogenesis and development of many diseases, including cerebral ischemia and reperfusion (I/R) injury. In this study, we aimed to investigate the role of LncRNA-Potassium Voltage-Gated Channel Subfamily Q Member 1 opposite strand/antisense transcript 1 (KCNQ1OT1) in cerebral I/R induced neuronal injury, and its underlying mechanisms. METHODS: Primary mouse cerebral cortical neurons treated with oxygen-glucose deprivation and reoxygenation (OGD/R) in vitro and mice subjected to middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO) and reperfusion were used to mimic cerebral I/R injury. Small inference RNA (siRNA) was used to knockdown KCNQ1OT1 or microRNA-153-3p (miR-153-3p). Dual-luciferase assay was performed to detect the interaction between KCNQ1OT1 and miR-153-3p and interaction between miR-153-3p and Fork head box O3a (Foxo3). Flow cytometry analysis was performed to detect neuronal apoptosis. qRT-PCR and Western blotting were performed to detect RNA and protein expressions. RESULTS: KCNQ1OT1 and Foxo3 expressions were significantly increased in neurons subjected to I/R injury in vitro and in vivo, and miR-153-3p expression were significantly decreased. Knockdown of KCNQ1OT1 or overexpression of miR-153-3p weakened OGD/R-induced neuronal injury and regulated Foxo3 expressions. Dual-luciferase analysis showed that KCNQ1OT1 directly interacted with miR-153-3p and Foxo3 is a direct target of miR-153-3p. CONCLUSIONS: Our results indicate that LncRNA-KCNQ1OT1 promotes OGD/R-induced neuronal injury at least partially through acting as a competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA) for miR-153-3p to regulate Foxo3a expression, suggesting LncRNA-KCNQ1OT1 as a potential therapeutic target for cerebral I/R injury.

Rational design and tailored synthesis of noncentrosymmetric compounds with nonlinear optical (NLO) properties, especially in the deep-ultraviolet (deep-UV) region, remains a great challenge. Herein, we report on the development of a modified fluoro-solvo-hydrothermal method with two additive reagents (trimethylamine and NaF solution) as the solvents, using BaFe(PO4)(OH) ( P212121) as the prototype, for the rational design and tailored synthesis of the first deep-UV fluorinated orthophosphate, BaZn(PO4)F. It crystallizes in the polar space group Pna21 and exhibits transparency down to deep-UV region (<190 nm) with SHG effect at 0.26 × KH2(PO4). Its structure is built from strictly alternating ZnO4F trigonal bipyramids and PO4 tetrahedra, resulting in a four-connected ABW-type zeolite framework. First-principles calculations confirm the deep-UV absorption edge and reveal that ZnO4F plays an essential role in the NLO properties. The synergetic effect of Zn and F atoms leads to its more polar crystal structure, much deeper absorption edge, and better SHG effect than the prototype.

Abnormal proliferation of vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs) is closely related to hyperplasia in hypertension. Our previous study suggested that adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) is mechano-responsive and may regulate VSMC proliferation. However, the molecular mechanism of VSMC abnormal proliferation induced by conditions of high cyclic strain, especially the role of ACTH in this process, is unclear. Our results revealed that ACTH and its specific receptor melanocortin receptor type 2 (MC2R) were highly expressed in hypertensive rat models. Furthermore, it was demonstrated that the expression of ACTH and MC2R was up-regulated when exposed to high cyclic strain in vitro, accompanied by abnormal proliferation of VSMCs. Next, it was proved that ACTH-dependent cell proliferation was related to the phosphorylation of extracellular regulated protein kinases (ERK) and signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (STAT3). The study also found that ACTH could promote dimerization and glycosylation of melanocortin 2 receptor accessory protein (MRAP), which had a significant effect on MC2R membrane localization and signal activation. When VSMCs were treated with PD98059, a mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAP kinase) cascade antagonist, it was determined that phosphorylation of STAT3 at Ser727 was dependent on ERK phosphorylation. In summary, these data demonstrated that the abnormal proliferation of VSMCs induced by conditions of high cyclic strain is in part attributed to ACTH and its receptor MC2R. Identifying the mechanism of ACTH-dependent proliferation of VSMCs may help to provide new therapeutic targets for hypertension.

To develop an efficient and environmental-friendly approach to detoxicate nickel (Ni) and fluoranthene co-contaminated soil, the combined application of Coprinus comatus (C. comatus) with Serratia sp. FFC5 and/or Enterobacter sp. E2 was investigated. The pot experiment tested the influences of bacterial inoculation on the growth of C. comatus, content of Ni in C. comatus, Ni speciation in soil, fluoranthene dissipation, soil enzymatic activities, bacterial population and community structure. With the inoculation of bacteria, the fresh weights of C. comatus, concentration of Ni in C. comatus and the dissipation rates of fluoranthene were increased by 17.73-29.38%, 68.97-204.97% and 34.84-60.90%, respectively. Notably, results illustrated that the co-inoculation of FFC5 and E2 showed better effect in biomass enhancement, Ni accumulation and fluoranthene dissipation than solitary inoculation. Simultaneously, higher soil enzymatic and microbiological activities suggested that the integrated detoxication method of bacteria and C. comatus could improve soil quality. Therefore, we can infer that bacterial inoculation strengthened detoxication effect of C. comatus in Ni-fluoranthene co-contaminated soil, indicating that the combined application of C. comatus and bacteria can be an efficient alternative for detoxicating Ni and fluoranthene co-contaminated soil.

The incidence of sexual dysfunction is higher in men with chronic kidney disease (CKD) than in those without, of which ED is the most common clinical manifestation. Sexual dysfunction is closely related to malfunction of the endocrine system in CKD males, mainly including the disorder in the hypothalamus-pituitary-gonadal axis and hyperprolactinemia. Besides, blood vessels, the nervous system, psychological status, trace elements, and drugs are also contributory factors. At present, sexual dysfunction in CKD males is diagnosed chiefly by scale assessment, clinical manifestation and special examination, and its treatment focuses on the correction of the endocrine system malfunction, as by kidney transplantation or by drug therapy with recombinant human erythropoietin, 1,25- (OH)2 D3, bromocriptine, losartan, or zinc preparation. In addition, conventional treatment with phosphodiesterase-5 inhibitors can be used as a supplement. This paper outlines the recent progress in the studies of sexual dysfunction in CKD males, covering its risk factors, etiology, pathophysiology, diagnosis and treatment.

Rab3 and synaptotagmin have been suggested to play important roles in the regulation of neurotransmitter release and, however, the molecular mechanism has not been completely clear. Here, we studied the effects of Rab3A and synaptotagmin I (Syt I) on dopamine release using PC12 cells as a model system. Rab3A was demonstrated to have effects on both Ca2+ -independent and Ca2+ -dependent dopamine releases from the PC12 cells. Application of Rab3A (up to 2500 nM) gradually decreased the amount of Ca2+ -dependently released dopamine, indicating that Rab3A is a negative modulator that was further supported by the increase in dopamine release caused by Rab3A knockdown. Syt I knockdown weakened the Ca2+ -dependent dopamine release, suggesting that Syt I plays a positive regulatory role in the cellular process. Treatment of the Syt I-knocked down PC12 cells with Rab3A further decreased Ca2+ -dependent dopamine release and, however, the decrease magnitude was significantly reduced compared with that before Syt I knockdown, thus for the first time demonstrating that the inhibitory effect of Rab3A on Ca2+ -dependent dopamine release involves the interaction with Syt I. Drug resistance is one of the leading causes of chemotherapy failure in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) treatment. The purpose of this study was to investigate the role of c-met in human lung cancer cisplatin resistance cell line (A549/DDP) and the reversal mechanism of salvianolic acid A (SAA), a phenolic active compound extracted from Salvia miltiorrhiza. In this study, we found that A549/DDP cells exert up-regulation of c-met by activating the Akt/mTOR signaling pathway. We also show that SAA could increase the chemotherapeutic efficacy of cisplatin, suggesting a synergistic effect of SAA and cisplatin. Moreover, we revealed that SAA enhanced sensitivity to cisplatin in A549/DDP cells mainly through suppression of the c-met/AKT/mTOR signaling pathway. Knockdown of c-met revealed similar effects as that of SAA in A549/DDP cells. In addition, SAA effectively prevented multidrug resistance associated protein1 (MDR1) up-regulation in A549/DDP cells. Taken together, our results indicated that SAA suppressed c-met expression and enhanced the sensitivity of lung adenocarcinoma A549 cells to cisplatin through AKT/mTOR signaling pathway.

This study focused on the bioremediation role of Pleurotus eryngii in different characteristics soils contaminated with nickel (Ni) and fluoranthene. The results of bioremediation experiments showed that fluoranthene had a positive effect on the growth of P. eryngii, whereas Ni exerted a negative influence. The concentration of fluoranthene significantly decreased in inoculated soil accounting for 86.39-91.95% of initial concentration in soils and 71.46-81.76% in non-inoculated soils, which showed that the dissipation of fluoranthene was enhanced by mushroom inoculating. The highest removal rates of fluoranthene in sandy loam, loamy clay, and sandy soils reached to 87.81, 86.39, and 91.95%, respectively, which demonstrated that P. eryngii was more suitable for the bioremediation of sandy soil contaminated with fluoranthene. In addition, the presence of Ni tended to decrease the dissipation of fluoranthene in inoculated soil. Higher ligninolytic enzymes activities were detected in inoculated soils, resulting in the enhanced dissipation of fluoranthene in inoculated soils. Furthermore, P. eryngii had the ability to uptake Ni (4.88-39.53 mg kg-1 ) in co-contamination soil. In conclusion, the inoculating of P. eryngii was effective in remediating of Ni-fluoranthene co-contaminated soils.

RESUMEN

We demonstrated amplified spontaneous emission by embedding dye molecules within a dielectric layer of a metal-dielectric-metal subwavelength structure. It was reinforced when a strong coupling occurred between the Fabry-Perot mode supported by the dielectric layer and the surface plasmon polariton mode supported by the adjacent metallic grating. Here, we adjust the two mode interaction via tuning the depth of the metallic grating grooves. The stronger the interaction, the smaller the full width at half-maximum of the emission spectra and the lower the threshold of the amplified spontaneous emission.
