RESUMEN

3D composite electrodes have shown extraordinary promise as high mass loading electrode materials for sodium ion batteries (SIBs). However, they usually show poor rate performance due to the sluggish Na+ kinetics at the heterointerfaces of the composites. Here, a 3D MXene-reduced holey graphene oxide (MXene-RHGO) composite electrode with Ti─O─C bonding at 2D heterointerfaces of MXene and RHGO is developed. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations reveal the built-in electric fields (BIEFs) are enhanced by the formation of bridged interfacial Ti─O─C bonding, that lead to not only faster diffusion of Na+ at the heterointerfaces but also faster adsorption and migration of Na+ on the MXene surfaces. As a result, the 3D composite electrodes show impressive properties for fast Na+ storage. Under high current density of 10 mA cm-2, the 3D MXene-RHGO composite electrodes with high mass loading of 10 mg cm-2 achieve a strikingly high and stable areal capacity of 3 mAh cm-2, which is same as commercial LIBs and greatly exceeds that of most reported SIBs electrode materials. The work shows that rationally designed bonding at the heterointerfaces represents an effective strategy for promoting high mass loading 3D composites electrode materials forward toward practical SIBs applications.

Gastric cancer is a kind of malignant tumor that seriously endangers human life and health. Its incidence rate and mortality rate are among the highest in the global malignant tumors. Therefore, this study explored the role of 6-phosphofructo-2-kinase/fructose-2,6-bisphosphatase 3 (PFKFB3) in the progression of gastric cancer and its underlying mechanism. Patients with gastric cancer were collected, and human GC cell lines (stomach gastric carcinoma 7901, stomach gastric carcinoma 823 , human gastric carcinoma cell line 803 and adenocarcinoma gastric stomach) were used in this study. We utilized glucose consumption, cell migration, and ELISA assay kits to investigate the function of GC. To understand its mechanism, we employed quantitative PCR (qPCR), western blot, and m6A methylated RNA immunoprecipitation assay. FKFB3 protein expression levels in patients with gastric cancer were increased. The induction of PFKFB3 mRNA expression levels in patients with gastric cancer or gastric cancer cell lines. Gastric cancer patients with high PFKFB3 expression had a lower survival rate. PFKFB3 high expression possessed the probability of pathological stage, lymph node metastasis or distant metastasis in patients with gastric cancer. PFKFB3 upregulation promoted cancer progression and Warburg effect progression of gastric cancer. PFKFB3 upregulation reduced pyroptosis and suppressed nucleotidebinding domain, leucinerich repeat containing protein 3-induced pyroptosis of gastric cancer. M6A-forming enzyme methyltransferase-like 3 increased PFKFB3 stability. Taken together, the M6A-forming enzyme methyltransferase-like 3 increased PFKFB3 stability and reduced pyroptosis in the model of gastric cancer through the Warburg effect. The PFKFB3 gene represents a potential therapeutic strategy for the treatment of gastric cancer.

Tin-based hybrid flow batteries have demonstrated dendrite-free morphology and superior performance in terms of cycle life and energy density. However, the quick accumulation of electrodeposits near the electrode/membrane interface blocks the ion transport pathway during the charging of the battery, resulting to a very limited areal capacity (especially at high current density) that significantly hinders its deployment in long-duration storage applications. Herein, a conductivity-activity dual-gradient design is disclosed by electrically passivating the carbon felt near the membrane/electrode interface and chemically activating the carbon felt near the electrode/current collector interface. In consequence, the tin metals are preferentially plated at the region near electrode/current collector, preventing the ion transport pathway from being easily blocked. The resultant gradient electrode demonstrated an unprecedentedly high areal capacity of 268 mAh cm-2 at a current density of as high as 80 mA cm-2. Numerical modeling and experimental characterizations show that the dual-gradient electrode differs from conventional electrodes with regard to their reaction current density distribution and electrodeposit distribution during charging. This work demonstrates a new design strategy of 3D electrodes for hybrid flow batteries to induce a desirable distribution of electrodeposits and achieve a high areal capacity at commercially relevant current densities.

BACKGROUND & AIMS: The authors assess the diagnostic accuracy of the Transient Elastography-Controlled Attenuation Parameter (TE-CAP) in children of Southern China. METHODS: 105 obese or overweight children and adolescents were enrolled in the diagnostic test of TE-CAP assessment of hepatic steatosis using MRI-PDFF. Hepatic steatosis grades S0-S3 were classified. Statistical correlation, agreement and consistency between methods were evaluated. The diagnostic efficiency of TE-CAP was evaluated. The authors used the cutoff value of TE-CAP to detect hepatic steatosis in another 356 children. RESULTS: The Area Under Curve (AUC) of TE-CAP for grade ≥ S1, ≥ S2, and ≥ S3 steatosis were 0.975, 0.984, and 0.997, respectively. For detecting ≥ S1 steatosis, TE-CAP had a sensitivity of 96 % and a specificity of 97 %. For detecting ≥ S2 steatosis, TE-CAP had a sensitivity of 97 % and a specificity of 93 %. For detecting ≥ S3 steatosis, TE-CAP had a sensitivity of 1 and a specificity of 94 %. TE-CAP and MRI-PDFF had a linear correlation (r = 0. 0.87, p < 0.001). The hepatic steatosis was identified in 40.2 % (143/356) of children in which the obesity and overweight were 69.8 % (113/162) and 40.0 % (18/45). CONCLUSION: TE-CAP showed excellent diagnostic accuracy in pediatric hepatic steatosis.

As a regulatory protein that upregulates transcription in response to various stresses, cold-induced RNA-binding protein (CIRBP) is involved in a variety of physiological pathological processes in cells. However, little is known about the role of CIRBP in regulating autophagy and the synthesis and secretion of ovarian steroid hormones (estradiol E2 and progesterone P4). This study aimed to explore whether the synthetic secretion of ovarian steroid hormones is related to CIRBP-regulated autophagy. We detected the differential expression of CIRBP, LC3, E2 and P4 in YGCs cultured at mild low temperature (32 °C) for 6 and 12 h. CIRBP, LC3, E2 and P4 expression was increased in response to low temperature in YGCs. In order to illustrate that the changes in secretion of E2/P4 and autophagy might be caused by CIRBP induced by low temperature, we overexpressed CIRBP in YGCs cultured in vitro to detect its effects on autophagy and steroid hormone synthesis and secretion. We found that overexpression of CIRBP can induce autophagy of YGCs and enhance the synthesis and secretion of E2 and P4, suggesting that mild hypothermia may activate autophagy by inducing the expression of CIRBP and enhance the synthesis and secretion of E2 and P4. To further explore the relationship between CIRBP regulated autophagy and steroid hormone synthesis and secretion, we verified it by regulating autophagy. The results showed that Inhibition of autophagy significantly reversed CIRBP overexpression-enhanced autophagy and synthetic secretion of E2, P4 in YGCs, while activated autophagy showed similar results to overexpression of CIRBP. In conclusion, our data suggest that autophagy is involved in the synthesis and secretion of YGCs E2 and P4 and is associated with overexpression of CIRBP.

Heterogeneous catalysis promises to accelerate sulfur-involved conversion reactions in lithium-sulfur batteries. Solid-state Li2S dissociation remains as the rate-limiting step because of the weakly matched solid-solid electrocatalysis interfaces. We propose an electrochemically molecular-imprinting strategy to have a metal sulfide (MS) catalyst with imprinted defects in positions from which the pre-implanted Li2S has been electrochemically removed. Such tailor-made defects enable the catalyst to bind exclusively to Li atoms in Li2S reactant and elongate the Li-S bond, thus decreasing the reaction energy barrier during charging. The imprinted Ni3S2 catalyst shows the best activity due to the highest defect concentration among the MS catalysts examined. The Li2S oxidation potential is substantially reduced to 2.34 V from 2.96 V for the counterpart free of imprinted vacancies, and an Ah-level pouch cell is realized with excellent cycling performance. With a lean electrolyte/sulfur ratio of 1.80 µL mgS -1, the cell achieves a benchmarkedly high energy density beyond 500 Wh kg-1.

BACKGROUND: Randomised controlled trials (RCTs) are the predominant type in acupuncture clinical research, and the publications have increased rapidly in recent years, but there is a prevalence of the high risk of bias and poor methodological design in acupuncture RCTs. Clinical trial registration can improve the transparency and credibility of studies by disclosing key information in advance. However, the registration in acupuncture RCTs is not satisfactory, as there is widespread of the under-registration, inconsistency with published studies and insufficient disclosure of key methodological information. Whether registration can reduce the risk of bias in acupuncture RCTs and improve data transparency has not been fully explored. Therefore, we constructed this study to investigate the association between registration and risk of bias and data sharing level in acupuncture RCTs. METHODS: Seven databases including MEDLINE, EMBASE, CENTRAL, CBM, CNKI, Wanfang and VIP databases will be systematically searched between 1 January 2014 and 31 March 2024, for acupuncture RCTs. Two reviewers will independently extract data using a predefined standardised format and perform secondary validation. The characteristics and data sharing level of the included studies will be summarised. The risk of bias of included RCTs will be assessed by the revised Cochrane risk-of-bias tool for randomised trials. The risk of bias and registration in acupuncture RCTs will be analysed by logistic or quantile regression analyses (depending on the number of minimum events). The data sharing level and registration will be analysed by quantile regression analyses. ETHICS AND DISSEMINATION: As the systematic review aims to consolidate info from published sources, ethical approval is not necessary for this study. The study's findings will be submitted to a peer-reviewed academic journal and disseminated via conference presentations. This protocol has been registered in Open Science Framework Registries.

The study explored the mediating effect of number sense between nonverbal intelligence and children's mathematical performance. The sample consisted of 131 pupils in Shaoxing City of China from grades 1, 3, and 5. The students completed measures of nonverbal intelligence, number sense, basic arithmetic ability, mathematical performance, rapid automatized naming, and working memory. Results show that although all variables significantly relate with each other (all p < .01), only nonverbal intelligence, number sense, and basic arithmetic ability significantly affect children's mathematical performance (all p < .01). According to multiple-mediation model, nonverbal intelligence significantly predicts children's mathematical performance through number sense and basic arithmetic ability. These findings suggest that domain-specific mathematical skills play a prominent role in children's mathematical performance in primary school, rather than domain-general cognitive functions. Educators should pay attention to develop children's number sense in order to improve children's mathematical ability. (AU)
