A survey is given on the modern possibilities of the therapy of malignant tumours with radiopharmaca. In detail the following methods of treatment introduced into the nuclearmedical therapy are described: 1. Radioiodine therapy in folliculary and papillary carcinomas of the thyroid gland, 2. Radiophosphorus therapy in polycythaemia vera and myeloproliferative syndrome, 3. Radiogold therapy in peritoneal and pleural carcinoses, 4. Intrathecal radionuclide application in meningeosis leucaemica, 5. Intralymphatic radionuclide application to the therapy of malignant lymphomas, 6. Radionuclide therapy of multiple bone metastases. With the help of literature and own experiences the author enters the indication and the performance of the therapy as well as the possible successes of treatment, when using the therapy forms mentioned.

After introductory comments on the principle of the tumour scintigraphy and the factors influencing the scintigraphic demonstration the author adopts a definite attitude to the scintigraphy of thyroid gland, brain, lung, liver pancreas, kidney, bone, spleen as well as lymphatic nodes, liquor spaces and adrenal glands from the point of view of tumours diagnostics. For the purpose of a better survey for the first seven organs uniquely the problems are demonstrated according to the principle of examination, method of examination, indication to the tumour diagnostics, preliminary examination and prerequisite to the scintigraphy, the problems of scintigraphy and the functional capacity of other methods.

A modified method is described for the preparation of albumin nanospheres for labelling with 99mTc by investigating the absorption behaviour of tin as a reducing agent on albumin nanospheres. These albumin nanospheres can be used for studying the reticuloendothelial system, especially that of the liver. The labelling method is very simple, and the efficiency of labelling with 99mTc is higher than 97 per cent.

The authors report about investigations for localization of tumours in vivo by scintigrafic iddntification of Clostridium butyricum Jena H8 by 131I-labelled antibodies and by 131I-labelled F(ab')2-fragment antibodies in mouse transplantation-tumour UVT 15264. The application of 131I-labelled anti-clostridial-rod-antibodies in tumour bearing mice demonstrates increase of radioactivity in tumours of animals, pretreated by spores, as well as in animals without pretreatment. These appearently unspecific increases of radioactivity could not be demonstrated by application of 131I-labelled F(ab')2-fragment antibodies directed against clostridial rods, but also the specific fixation of 131I-labelled F(ab')2-fragment antibodies in tumours of mice, pretreated by clostridial spores, could not be demonstrated. The results are discussed with regard to further investigations.
