Three children with full skin thickness friction burns of the hand caused by treadmill jogging machines are presented. The mechanism of injury, the potential hazards and poor safety precautions in design of the machine are highlighted.

A circumferential band of deep burn affecting the ring finger sustained by a car electrician is presented. Although it was caused by short circuiting the car battery by a metal spanner and the ring he was wearing, the injury was purely a contact burn.

Seventy-two cases of car radiator burns (CRB) were treated in the Burns Unit, Hamad Medical Corporation, Doha, Qatar, over a 6-year period (1982-87). All the patients were males and most were between 20 and 40 years old. Chest wall, face and right upper limb were the commonest sites involved. Most of the patients suffered from relatively minor scalds. The scenario of the accidents as well as the topography of the burned areas were characteristic to this particular type of injury. The exceptionally high temperatures in the summer months were significantly related to the incidence of this type of burn.

A detailed description of anterior hypospadias associated with complete and normally developed prepuce is presented. The anatomical characteristics of this deformity differ considerably from those associated with classical hypospadias. A proposed surgical repair, which combines both reconstruction of glanular urethra and neomeatus with circumcision, is also presented.

A case of aplasia cutis congenita of the scalp with bony defect in a newborn treated by early excision and reconstruction is presented. A recently described versatile minor flap is employed to cover the resultant defect. The advantages of early surgical repair and the flap are highlighted.
