RESUMO

A total of 172 subjects were enrolled in the study including 100 with duodenal ulcer (DU), 30 with chronic non-atrophic gastritis (CNG), 30 with chronic atrophic gastritis (CAG), and 12 practically healthy controls. All DU, CNG, and CAG patients had Helicobacter pylori (Hp) infection confirmed by morphological study of gastric mucosa. Patients with DU were divided into 2 groups matched for age, endoscopic, morphological, and immunohistochemical characteristics. In group 1, Hp was eradicated by traditional therapy with omeprazole (20 mg), clarithromycin (500 mg), and amoxicillin (1000 mg) twice daily for 7days. This treatment in group 2 was supplemented by dibicor (500 mg twice daily). Thereafter, patients of group 1 continued to receive omeprazole for 6 weeks followed by maintenance therapy; those of group 2 received omeprazole plus dibicor for 6 weeks and maintenance therapy. CNG and CAG patients and healthy subjects served as controls. Fibrogastroduodenoscopy was performed after 2 and 4 weeks. CNG and CAG patients were examined for the presence of KI-67, BCL-2 regulators and apoptotic activity of epitheliocytes from antral mucosa before and 6 weeks after eradication therapy. It is concluded that its combination with dibicor significantly contributes to Hp elimination, shortens duodenal scarring time, improves KI-67, BCL-2 expression, and stimulates apoptotic activity of epitheliocytes compared with traditional omeprazole treatment.

RESUMO

It is a report of a rare case of amyloidosis in myeloma with a predominant localization in the caecum wall with the narrowing of blood vessels and a caecum gangrene and peritonitis as complications. Rarity of the case resulted in an erroneous clinical diagnosis and unjustified appendectomy.

RESUMO

A rare observation of secondary glycogenesis in a male of 31 with a long history of irregularly treated diabetes mellitus is described. The diagnosis was established after death and was confirmed histologically, histochemically and electron microscopically.

RESUMO

In a surgically removed thymus of an 18 year old man granulomatous thymitis with lymphoid follicles, amyloidosis, pseudocysts were observed. Rare occurrence of this pathology, difficulty of the diagnosis, absence of the treatment concept make surgery a method of choice.

RESUMO

Individual chemosensitivity of 20 tumors from oncologic patients was determined by autoradiographic registration of the DNA synthesis inhibition by chemotherapeutics in tumor cells of primary tissue cultures grown in vitro between microscopic slides. Twelve renal carcinomas, 1 renal pelvis carcinoma, 5 urinary bladder carcinomas, 1 testicle teratoblastoma and 1 retroperitoneal space liposarcoma were tested. While the localization and histologic diagnoses were the same the tumors from various patients had strictly different sensitivity to chemotherapeutic drugs. Some tumors were even resistant to all the drugs tested. It was shown that the renal carcinomas had mainly low individual chemosensitivity. In 7 patients stimulation of the DNA synthesis under the action of the chemotherapeutics instead of its inhibition was observed.

RESUMO

A review of the current methods for the estimation of tumor sensitivity to antiblastomic drugs is presented. Methods for the in vitro and in vivo cultivation of tumor cells are discussed. Among them the following methods are reviewed: the method for the cultivation of tumor heterotransplants in diffusion chambers and its various modifications, the method for the cultivation of human tumors under the kidney capsule, the method for the cell cultivation in primary short-term suspensions, the methods using enriched media, the methods for the cell cultivation on acetate cellulose fibres, in monolayers, etc.

RESUMO

In a patient, a woman of 62 years, one surgical team has performed consecutively over 3 h 45 min 10 operations for different diseases: extirpation of the uterus with appendages, removal of retroperitoneal fibrosarcoma, appendectomy, 30 cm-resection of the small intestine, polypectomy from the rectum, creation of sygmorectoanastomosis, plastic reconstruction of postoperative ventral hernia with duplication, sectoral resection of mammary gland, removal of papilloma and lipoma of abdominal wall. The outcome is favorable.

RESUMO

Partial structure of the inferior vena cava over the diaphragm carried out experimentally in dogs let to blood stasis in the liver. Biopsy material obtained at different experimental periods demonstrated that fibrosis began to develop from the central and collective veins as a result of proliferation of the fibroblasts of the vein adventitita and "emigration" of the fucsinophilic fibers into the adjacent parenchyma. In parallel there occurred a neoformation of the connective tissue in the areas of hemorrhages and necroses associated with proliferation of the Kupffer's cells. Nutmeg fibrosis proved to have a cellular genesis and as associated with increased tropocollagen activity of fibroblasts.
