RESUMO

An ongoing outbreak of pneumonia associated with 2019 novel coronavirus was reported in China. It is unclear whether the virus is infective exists during the incubation period, although person-to-person transmission has been reported elsewhere. We report the epidemiological features of a familial cluster of 4 patients in Shanghai, including an 88-year-old man with limited mobility who was exposed only to asymptomatic family members whose symptoms developed later. The epidemiological evidence has shown possible transmission of 2019 novel coronavirus during the incubation period.

RESUMO

We report a coherent terahertz (THz) imaging system that utilises a quantum cascade laser (QCL) operating in pulsed-mode as both the source and detector. The realisation of a short-pulsed THz QCL feedback interferometer permits both high peak powers and improved thermal efficiency, which enables the cryogen-free operation of the system. In this work, we demonstrated pulsed-mode swept-frequency laser feedback interferometry experimentally. Our interferometric detection scheme not only permits the simultaneous creation of both amplitude and phase images, but inherently suppresses unwanted background radiation. We demonstrate that the proposed system utilising microsecond pulses has the potential to achieve 0.25 mega-pixel per second acquisition rates, paving the pathway to video frame rate THz imaging.

RESUMO

We demonstrate a gas spectroscopy technique, using self-mixing in a 3.4 terahertz quantum-cascade laser (QCL). All previous QCL spectroscopy techniques have required additional terahertz instrumentation (detectors, mixers, or spectrometers) for system pre-calibration or spectral analysis. By contrast, our system self-calibrates the laser frequency (i.e., with no external instrumentation) to a precision of 630 MHz (0.02%) by analyzing QCL voltage perturbations in response to optical feedback within a 0-800 mm round-trip delay line. We demonstrate methanol spectroscopy by introducing a gas cell into the feedback path and show that a limiting absorption coefficient of ∼1×10-4 cm-1 is resolvable.

RESUMO

By taking into account sampled-data mechanism and transmission delay, the novel event-triggering load frequency control (LFC) strategy involving random dynamic triggering algorithm (RDTA) is developed for multi-area power systems in this paper. Firstly, an improved multi-area LFC model considering sampling and transmission delay (STD) simultaneously is addressed. Secondly, a modified event-triggering mechanism (ETM) with RDTA is proposed, considering parameter disturbances and a dynamic adjustment mechanism of the triggering threshold. Thirdly, a more advanced Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional (LKF) is constructed, introducing the delay-dependent matrices, more variable cross terms and the two-sided closed functional. Furthermore, two less conservative stability criteria are obtained according to the designed approach. Finally, two multi-area LFC systems are presented to verify the progressiveness of the proposed approach.

RESUMO

Myocardial infarction (MI) is lethal to patients because of acute ischemia and hypoxia leading to cardiac tissue apoptosis. Autophagy played a key role in MI through affecting the survival of cardiomyocytes. LncRNA-MHRT (myosin heavy-chain-associated RNA transcripts) was specific to the heart and cardiomyocytes, and inhibition of lncRNA-MHRT transcription under pathological stimuli could cause cardiac hypertrophy and even heart failure (HF). Sonodynamic therapy (SDT) is a new and developing medical technique that utilizes low-intensity ultrasound to locally activate a preloaded sonosensitizer. Our group previously reported that SDT could regulate autophagy. In this study, we investigated whether SDT could reduce MI-induced cardiomyocyte apoptosis via activating autophagy pathway. SDT improved cardiac function and suppresses MI-induced cardiomyocyte apoptosis. SDT alleviated MI-induced cardiomyocyte apoptosis by improving autophagy. MHRT mediated the inhibiting effect of SDT on cardiomyocyte apoptosis via activating autophagy pathway. Our data reveal a novel effect that SDT protects against MI and confirm that SDT reduces MI-induced cardiomyocyte apoptosis via activating MHRT-mediated-autophagy. Thus, our findings also indicate that SDT may be used as a potential method for treatment of post-myocardial infarction heart failure.

RESUMO

This study was intended to explore the effect of proanthocyanidin (PC) combined with trimetazidine in non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) with radiation-induced heart damage (RIHD). It was a prospective randomized controlled study that 86 NSCLC patients with radiation treatment in Cangzhou People's Hospital from January 2019 and June 2021 were enrolled and randomized to either the control group or the study group via the random table method, 43 cases in each group. The control group received trimetazidine, and the study group additionally received PC. The incidence of RIHD-related clinical manifestation, RIHD-related ECG, and RIHD-related cardiac ultrasound change were all lower in the study group. After radiotherapy, the serum level of superoxide dismutase (SOD) was higher, and malondialdehyde (MDA) was lower in the study group when compared with the control group. After radiotherapy, the serum levels of brain natriuretic peptide (BNP), cardiac troponin (cTnT), creatine kinase (CK), and creatine kinase isoenzymes (CKMB) were all lower in the study group when compared with the control group. The efficacy of PC plus trimetazidine for NSCLC with RIHD is superior to trimetazidine alone, and it significantly mitigates radiation-induced inflammatory response and oxidative stress.
