RESUMO

Natural biomass magnetic porous carbon was successfully prepared via a cost-effective and green route using mangosteen shells as raw material. The prepared magnetic porous carbon was used as a magnetic solid-phase extraction adsorbent for bisphenols enrichment from beverages followed by high-performance liquid chromatography-quadrupole-Orbitrap high-resolution mass spectrometry. Parameters affecting extraction efficiency including sample solution pH, adsorbent amount, extraction time, eluent type, and volume were optimized. Results showed that biomass magnetic porous carbon had excellent adsorption properties for bisphenols due to its large specific surface area and abundant functional groups, which could form hydrogen bonding and π-π stacking with bisphenols. The enrichment factor of 3 bisphenols was in the range of 15-19. Under optimum conditions, favorable linearity for all analytes was obtained with correlation coefficients higher than 0.998. Recoveries of spiked samples were in the range of 88.5-105.1% with a relative standard deviation of 3.4-5.5%. These results demonstrated that magnetic porous carbon may be a promising adsorbent for the enrichment of aromatic compounds.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: The programmed death 1 (PD-1)/programmed death-ligand 1 (PD-L1) have shown positive efficacy in several solid cancers due to their targeted antitumour effects. However, the frequency and clinical implication value in prostate cancer still remain unclear. METHODS: The PD-1/PD-L1 expression was detected by immunohistochemical (IHC) analysis in 96 retrospectively collected cases of prostatic cancer and 44 controls of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Its correlation with clinicopathological features including age, PSA level, Gleason score, lymph node metastasis, clinical T stage and risk factor grade in prostate cancer was also assessed. RESULTS: The PD-L1-positive expression was significantly higher in cancer cases compared with benign tissues, whereas no difference in PD-1 positive expression was found. Moreover, the PD-L1 expression in tumour cells or lymphocytes was associated with Gleason score, but not related to age, preoperative PSA level, clinical T-stage, lymph node metastasis and grade of risk factors. In addition, no association between the positive expression of PD-1 and PD-L1 in tumour cells and lymphocytes was found. CONCLUSIONS: The expression of PD-L1 not PD-1 is highly prevalent in prostate cancer. PD-L1 is closely related to Gleason score and may be a co-factor associated with the progression of prostate cancer.

RESUMO

PURPOSE: To investigate the fixed-jaw intensity-modulated radiotherapy (F-IMRT) and tangential partial volumetric modulated arc therapy (tP-VMAT) treatment plans for synchronous bilateral breast cancer (SBBC). MATERIALS AND METHOD: Twelve SBBC patients with pTis-2N0M0 stages who underwent whole-breast irradiation after breast-conserving surgery were planned with F-IMRT and tP-VMAT techniques prescribing 42.56 Gy (2.66 Gy*16f) to the breast. The F-IMRT used 8-12 jaw-fixed tangential fields with single (sF-IMRT) or two (F-IMRT) isocenters located under the sternum or in the center of the left and right planning target volumes (PTVs), and tP-VMAT used 4 tangential partial arcs with two isocenters located in the center of the left and right PTVs. Plan evaluation was based on dose-volume histogram (DVH) analysis. Dosimetric parameters were calculated to evaluate plan quality; total monitor units (MUs), and the gamma analysis for patient-specific quality assurance (QA) were also evaluated. RESULTS: For PTVs, the three plans had similar Dmean and conformity index (CI) values. F-IMRT showed a slightly better target coverage according to the V100% values and demonstrated an obvious reduction in V105% and Dmax compared with the values observed for sF-IMRT and tP-VMAT. Compared with tP-VMAT, sF-IMRT was slightly better in terms of V100% , V105% and Dmax . In addition, F-IMRT achieved the best homogeneity index (HI) values for PTVs. Concerning healthy tissue, tP-VMAT had an advantage in minimizing the high dose volume. The MUs of the tP-VMAT plan were decreased approximately 1.45 and 1 times compared with the sF-IMRT and F-IMRT plans, respectively, and all plans passed QA. For the lungs, heart and liver, F-IMRT achieved the smallest values in terms of Dmean and showed a significant difference compared with tP-VMAT. Simultaneously, sF-IMRT was also superior to tP-VMAT. For the coronary artery, tP-VMAT achieved the lowest Dmean , while the value for F-IMRT was 2.24% lower compared with sF-IMRT. For all organs at risk (OARs), tP-VMAT was superior at the high dose level. In contrast, sF-IMRT and F-IMRT were obviously superior at the low dose level. The sF-IMRT and F-IMRT plans showed consistent trends. CONCLUSION: All treatment plans for the provided techniques were of high quality and feasible for SBBC patients. However, we recommend F-IMRT with a single isocenter as a priority technique because of the tremendous advantage of local hot spot control in PTVs and the reduced dose to OARs at low dose levels. When the irradiated dose to the lungs and heart exceed the clinical restriction, two isocenter F-IMRT can be used to maximize OAR sparing. Additionally, tP-VMAT can be adopted for improving cold spots in PTVs or high-dose exposure to normal tissue when the interval between PTVs is narrow.

RESUMO

MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are of significance in tuning and buffering gene expression. Despite abundant analysis tools that have been developed in the last two decades, plant miRNA identification from next-generation sequencing (NGS) data remains challenging. Here, we show that we can train a convolutional neural network to accurately identify plant miRNAs from NGS data. Based on our methods, we also present a user-friendly pure Java-based software package called Small RNA-related Intelligent and Convenient Analysis Tools (SRICATs). SRICATs encompasses all the necessary steps for plant miRNA analysis. Our results indicate that SRICATs outperforms currently popular software tools on the test data from five plant species. For non-commercial users, SRICATs is freely available at https://sourceforge.net/projects/sricats.

RESUMO

Mesothelioma, an uncommon yet highly aggressive malignant neoplasm, presents challenges in the effectiveness of current therapeutic approaches. Ferroptosis, a non-apoptotic mechanism of cellular demise, exhibits a substantial association with the progression of diverse cancer forms. It is important to acknowledge that there exists a significant association between ferroptosis and the advancement of various forms of cancer. Nevertheless, the precise role of ferroptosis regulatory factors within the context of mesothelioma remains enigmatic. In our investigation, we initially scrutinized the prognostic significance of 24 ferroptosis regulatory factors in the realm of mesothelioma. Our observations unveiled that heightened expression levels of CARS1, CDKN1A, TFRC, FANCD2, FDFT1, HSPB1, SLC1A5, SLC7A11, coupled with reduced DPP4 expression, were indicative of an unfavorable prognosis. Built upon the nine previously discussed prognostic genes, the ferroptosis prognostic model offers a reliable means to forecast mesothelioma patients' survival with a substantial degree of precision. Furthermore, a notable correlation emerged between these prognostic ferroptosis regulators and parameters such as immune cell infiltration, tumor mutation burden, microsatellite instability, and PD-L1 expression in the context of mesothelioma. Within this cadre of nine ferroptosis regulatory factors with prognostic relevance, FANCD2 exhibited the most pronounced prognostic influence, as elucidated by our analyses. Subsequently, we executed a validation process employing clinical specimens sourced from our institution, thus confirming that heightened FANCD2 expression is a discernible harbinger of an adverse prognosis in the context of mesothelioma. In vitro experiments revealed that knocking down FANCD2 markedly suppressed the proliferation, migration, and ability of mesothelioma cells to attract immune cells. Furthermore, our findings also showed that reducing FANCD2 levels heightened the vulnerability of mesothelioma cells to inducers of ferroptosis. Furthermore, an extensive pan-cancer analysis uncovered a robust association between FANCD2 and the gene expression linked to immune checkpoints, thereby signifying an adverse prognosis across a broad spectrum of cancer types. Additional research is warranted to validate these findings.

RESUMO

A new nematode species was recovered from the syconia of Ficus altissima from the residential area of Huajingxincheng, Guangzhou, Guangdong Province, China during a survey of nematode diversity. Schistonchus altissimus n. sp. is characterised by having females with a short post-uterine sac, an ovoid spermatheca and a conoid tail with a mucron in the female, excretory pore located near the lip; and males with amoeboid sperm, a conoid tail without a mucron and three pairs of subventral papillae, no gubernaculum, and hook-shaped spicules with a cucullus and a thorn-shaped rostrum. Schistonchus altissimus n. sp. is typologically differentiated from all other described species in this genus, except for S. microcarpus, by having a spicule with cucullus on the male tail tip. Schistonchus altissimus n. sp. is easily differentiated from other sequenced species by the partial small subunit rRNA gene (SSU), D3 expansion segment of the large subunit rRNA gene (LSU) and mitochondrial DNA subunit I (mtCOI). Phylogenetic analysis with partial SSU sequences suggests that S. altissimus n. sp. is in a highly supported monophyletic clade with two Chinese species (S. microcarpus and S. centerae) and two neotropical species (S. aureus and Schistonchus sp. ex Ficus colubrinae Standl.). Based on inferences using LSU D3 sequence data, S. altissimus n. sp. has a closer relationship with four Chinese species (S. centerae, S. fistulosus, S. guangzhouensis and S. microcarpus) than with S. hirtus and S. superbus, also from China.

RESUMO

Our first record of the rare and scatteredly distributed Ixeridiumsagittarioides for Guizhou, China, triggered a study to assess its systematic position. The species was placed in four different genera in the course of its taxonomic history and was recently treated with doubts as a member of Ixeridium in the Flora of China. Comparative morphological investigation and phylogenetic analyses based on the nuclear ribosomal DNA internal transcribed spacer (nrITS) and five non-coding plastid DNA regions (petD region, psbA-trnH, trnL-trnF, rpl32-trnL (UAG) and 5´rps16-trnQ (UUG) spacers) provided evidence that the species is not a member of Ixeridium and the Crepidinae but has evolved by ancient hybridisation of members of the Lactuca alliance (Lactucinae). It is reinstated as Lactucasagittarioides and a comprehensive morphological description is provided, based on material from its entire range of distribution.

RESUMO

PURPOSE: To investigate the error detectability limitations of an EPID-based 3D in vivo dosimetry verification system for lung stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT). METHODS: Thirty errors were intentionally introduced, consisting of dynamic and constant machine errors, to simulate the possible errors that may occur during delivery. The dynamic errors included errors in the output, gantry angle and MLC positions related to gantry inertial and gravitational effects, while the constant errors included errors in the collimator angle, jaw positions, central leaf positions, setup shift and thickness to simulate patient weight loss. These error plans were delivered to a CIRS phantom using the SBRT technique for lung cancer. Following irradiation of these error plans, the dose distribution was reconstructed using iViewDose™ and compared with the no error plan. RESULTS: All errors caused by the central leaf positions, dynamic MLC errors, Jaw inwards movements, setup shifts and patient anatomical changes were successfully detected. However, dynamic gantry angle and collimator angle errors were not detected in the lung case due to the rotation-symmetric target shape. The results showed that the γmean and γpassrate indicators can detect 13 (81.3%) and 14 (87.5%) of the 16 errors respectively without including the gantry angle error, collimator angle error and output error. CONCLUSIONS: In summary, iViewDose™ is an appropriate approach for detecting most types of clinical errors for lung SBRT. However, the phantom results also showed some detectability limitations of the system in terms of dynamic gantry angle and constant collimator angle errors.

RESUMO

Background: 4-Methoxydalbergione (4MOD) is a flavonoid isolated from the heartwood of Dalbergia. Studies have demonstrated that 4MOD exerts anticancer activities on bladder cancer and astrocytoma. However, the anticancer activity of 4MOD in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) remains unknown. This study aims to examine its anticancer activities and mechanisms in human liver cancer cells. Methods: CCK-8, colony forming, wound healing, transwell migration, and AnnexinV/PI assays were used to assess the anticancer effects of 4MOD in HCC cells. RNA sequencing (RNA-Seq) was selected to explore the possible mechanisms underlying the anti-HCC activity of 4MOD. The mRNA expression levels of target genes were verified through quantitative real-time PCR (qRT-PCR). A lentiviral shRNA interference technique was used to silence GADD45G expression. GADD45G knockdown was employed to confirm the crucial role of GADD45G in the 4MOD-mediatedanti-HCC effects. Results: 4MOD inhibited HCC cells' proliferation and migration and promoted tumor cell apoptosis. RNA-Seq and qRT-PCR analyses revealed that 4MOD treatment increased GADD45G expression. Silencing GADD45G reversed 4MOD-mediated inhibition of proliferation, migration, and promotion of apoptosis. Conclusions: Our findings show that 4MOD elicits anti-HCC effects by upregulating GADD45G expression and could be a valuable anticancer agent for liver cancer.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Ischemic stroke, a severe disease with high disability and mortality, causes an overburden in society and demands more effective treatments. Early rehabilitation and nursing intervention (ERNI) helps the postoperative recovery of patients with hypertensive intracerebral hemorrhage. However, the effect of ERNI on the recovery of people after ischemic stroke remains unclear. METHODS: Patients were treated with the ERNI program; subsequently, Mini-Mental State Examination, National Institute of Health stroke scale, Fugl-Meyer Assessment Scale, Daily living activity assessment, and Quality of life test were performed after the treatment of ERNI to evaluate the influence of ERNI on the cognitive function, motor function, and life quality of patients after ischemic stroke. RESULTS: We observed that following the treatment of ERNI, cognitive, neurological, and motor functions, daily life qualities, and life quality in the ERNI-treated group were significantly better than that in the control group. CONCLUSION: ERNI promoted the recovery of neurological function and improved the life qualities of patients after ischemic stroke.

RESUMO

To improve the efficiency of photocatalytic oxidative degradation of antibiotic pollutants, it is essential to develop an efficient and stable photocatalyst. In this study, a polymer-assisted facile synthesis strategy is proposed for the polymorph-controlled α-Bi2O3/Bi2O2CO3 heterojunction retained at elevated calcination temperatures. The p-n heterojunction can effectively separate and migrate electron-hole pairs, which improves visible-light-driven photocatalytic degradation from tetracycline (TC). The BO-400@PAN-140 photocatalyst achieves the highest pollutant removal efficiency of 98.21% for photocatalytic tetracycline degradation in 1 h (λ > 420 nm), and the degradation efficiency was maintained above 95% after 5 cycles. The morphology, crystal structure, and chemical state of the composites were analysed by scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. Ultraviolet-visible diffuse reflection, transient photocurrent response, and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy were adopted to identify the charge transfer and separation efficiency of photogenerated electron-hole pairs. The EPR results verified h+ and ˙OH radicals as the primary active species in the photocatalytic oxidation reactions. This observation was also consistent with the results of radical trapping experiments. In addition, the key intermediate products of the photocatalytic degradation of TC over BO-400@PAN-140 were identified via high-performance liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry, which is compatible with two possible photocatalytic reaction pathways. This work provides instructive guidelines for designing heterojunction photocatalysts via a polymer-assisted semiconductor crystallographic transition pathway for TC degradation into cleaner production.

RESUMO

Fabrication of S-scheme heterojunctions with enhanced redox capability offers an effective approach to address environmental remediation. In this study, high-performance Bi2Sn2O7/ß-Bi2O3 S-scheme heterojunction photocatalysts were fabricated via the in situ growth of Bi2Sn2O7 on ß-Bi2O3 microspheres. The optimized Bi2Sn2O7/ß-Bi2O3 (BSO/BO-0.4) degradation efficiency for tetracycline hydrochloride was 95.5%, which was 2.68-fold higher than that of ß-Bi2O3. This improvement originated from higher photoelectron-hole pair separation efficiency, more exposed active sites, excellent redox capacity, and efficient generation of ·O2 - and ·OH. Additionally, Bi2Sn2O7/ß-Bi2O3 exhibited good stability against photocatalytic degradation, and the degradation efficiency remained >89.7% after five cycles. The photocatalytic mechanism of Bi2Sn2O7/ß-Bi2O3 S-scheme heterojunctions was elucidated. In this study, we design and fabricate high-performance heterojunction photocatalysts for environmental remediation using S-scheme photocatalysts.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: To investigate the optimal radiotherapy plans for synchronous bilateral breast cancer (SBBC) patients receiving postmastectomy radiotherapy (PMRT), including regional lymph node irradiation (RNI). METHODS: For 10 SBBC patients who underwent bilateral mastectomy and received bilateral PMRT with RNI, 3 integrally optimized plans with a single isocenter were designed for each patient in this retrospective study: intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) with 9 fixed beams (9F-IMRT), volumetric-modulated arc therapy (VMAT) with 2 pairs of half arcs (2F-VMAT), VMAT with 2 pairs of outer tangential arcs and 1 pair of 200-degree arcs (3F-VMAT). The paired t-test (in the case of normal variables) and Friedman's test (in the case of nonnormal variables) were applied to compare the planning target volumes (PTVs) and organs at risk (OARs) values of the 3 techniques. RESULTS: The 3 techniques provided adequate target dose coverage and comparable results for PTVs. For OARs, 3F-VMAT yielded the lowest mean or median values of the left lung (15.02 ± 1.57 Gy) and right lung (14.91 ± 1.14 Gy), heart (6.19 (1.96) Gy), coronary artery (15.96 ± 5.76 Gy) and liver (8.10 ± 2.70 Gy) which were significantly different from those of 9F-IMRT and 2F-VMAT. The percentages of volume at various doses (V5, V10, V20, and V30) of 3F-VMAT plans were also lower than or comparable with those of 9F-IMRT and 2F-VMAT. The monitor units (MUs) of 3F-VMAT were 31% higher than those of 9F-IMRT and comparable with those of 2F-VMAT; however, there were time savings and halved beam-on times (BOTs) compared to 9F-IMRT. CONCLUSIONS: The 3F-VMAT plan yielded comparable target coverage compared with 9F-IMRT and 2F-VMAT, was superior in dose sparing of normal tissues and enabled shorter BOTs, improving treatment efficiency. In our research, 3F-VMAT was the optimal radiotherapy technique for SBBC patients receiving PMRT including RNI.

RESUMO

Radiation-induced brain injury (RIBI) is a severe, irreversible, or even life-threatening cerebral complication of radiotherapy in patients with head and neck tumors, and there is no satisfying prevention and effective treatment available for these patients. Amifostine (AMF) is a well-known free radical scavenger with demonstrated effectiveness in preventing radiation-induced toxicity. However, the limited permeability of AMF across the blood-brain barrier (BBB) when administered intravenously reduces the effectiveness of AMF in preventing RIBI. Herein, we construct a nanoparticle (NP) platform for BBB delivery of AMF. AMF is conjugated with 1,2-dioleoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphoethanolamine-n-[poly(ethylene glycol)]-hydroxy succinamide [DSPE-PEG-NHS, PEG M 2000], and the product is DSPE-PEG-AMF. Then, the nanoparticles (DAPP NPs) were formed by self-assembly of poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid) (PLGA), DSPE-PEG-AMF, and polysorbate 80 (PS 80). PEG shields the nanoparticles from blood clearance by the reticuloendothelial system and lengthens the drug circulation time. PS 80 is used to encapsulate nanoparticles for medication delivery to the brain. The results of our study showed that DAPP NPs were able to effectively penetrate the blood-brain barrier (BBB) in healthy C57BL/6 mice. Furthermore, in a well-established mouse model of X-knife-induced brain injury, treatment with DAPP NPs (corresponding to 250 mg/kg AMF) was found to significantly reduce the volume of brain necrosis compared to mice treated with AMF (250 mg/kg). Importantly, the use of DAPP NPs was also shown to significantly mitigate the effects of radiation-induced neuronal damage and glial activation. This work presents a convenient brain-targeted AMF delivery system to achieve effective radioprotection for the brain, providing a promising strategy with tremendous clinical translation potential.

RESUMO

Objective: To investigate the effect of Triangle tiered and graded management on the self-management behavior and quality of survival of Parkinson's Disease (PD) patients. Methods: Eighty ambulatory PD patients admitted to the neurology outpatient clinic of our hospital from June 2020 to January 2021 were selected for the study. Eighty patients were divided into 40 cases each in the test group and the control group using the random number table method. Patients in the control group were given conventional treatment and care, while in the test group, Triangle hierarchical management was applied on the basis of the control group. Non-motor symptoms [assessed by the Montreal Cognitive Inventory (MoCA), the Scale for Outcomes in PD for Autonomic Symptoms disability Scale (SCOPA-DS) and the Nocturnal Scale (SCOPA-NS)], motor symptoms [assessed by the Functional Gait Assessment (FGA), the Modified Ashworth Scale, and the Unified Parkinson's Disease Rating Scale (UPDRS-III)], quality of life (assessed by Barthel Index), medication adherence (self-administered medication adherence questionnaire), quality of survival (assessed by the 39-item Parkinson's Disease Quality of Survival Questionnaire, PDQ-39), and self-management effectiveness (assessed by the Chronic Disease Self-Efficacy Scale, symptom management and disease co-management) were compared between the two groups before and after the intervention. The two groups were also observed for satisfaction with care. Results: After the intervention, the MoCA score, FGA score, Barthel Index, Medication adherence and all scores of self-management effectiveness were significantly higher in the test group than in the control group (P < 0.05); the SCOPA-DS score, SCOPA-NS score, Ashworth score, UPDRS-III score and PDQ-39 score were significantly lower than in the control group (P < 0.05). Satisfaction with nursing care was significantly higher in the test group than in the control group (P < 0.05). Conclusion: The application of Triangle's tiered and graded management to the home care of ambulatory PD patients was effective in improving their non-motor and motor symptoms, their ability to perform daily activities, medication adherence and self-management effectiveness, and their overall survival outcome.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To explore the effects of transient electric acupuncture stimulation combined with rehabilitation training on hemorheology, neurological function and brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) in patients with cerebral infarction (CI). METHODS: A total of 90 patients with CI were admitted to our hospital from March 2019 to March 2021. According to the random number table method, 90 patients were divided into a control group (was treated with transient electrical acupuncture stimulation intervention treatment) and a therapy group (was treated with rehabilitation training on the basis of the control group), with 45 cases in each group. NIHSS score to detect neurological deficit; FMA score to detect motor function recovery; the clinical efficacy of the two groups of patients were compared; blood rheology analyzer to detect whole blood high shear viscosity, whole blood low shear viscosity, platelet aggregation rate and fibrinogen indicators; ELISA detects the content of BDNF in serum. RESULTS: There was no significant difference in NIHSS score, FMA score, clinical efficacy, hemorheology index, and BDNF content between the two groups of patients before treatment (P > 0.05). After treatment, the NIHSS score, whole blood high shear visible, whole blood low shear visible, platelet aggregation rate and fibrinogen index of the two groups were lower than those before treatment, and the FMA score and BDNF content of the two groups were higher than those before treatment, and all the above indicators in the therapy group changed significantly compared with the control group (P < 0.05). After treatment, the clinical efficacy of the therapy group was better than that of the control group (P < 0.05). CONCLUSION: The combination of transient electrical acupuncture stimulation and rehabilitation training can inhibit the blood flow index of patients with CI, improve the nerve function, increase the content of BDNF in the patient's serum, and restore the patient's nerve function.

RESUMO

The hot stamping technology of aluminum alloy is of great significance for realizing the light weight of the automobile body, and the proper process parameters are important conditions to obtain excellent aluminum alloy parts. In this paper, the thermal deformation behavior of 6016 aluminum alloy at a high temperature is experimentally studied to provide a theoretical basis for a finite element model. With the help of blank stamping finite element software, a numerical model of a 6016 aluminum alloy automobile windshield beam during hot stamping was established. The finite element model was verified by a forming experiment. Then, the effect of the process parameters, including blank holder force, die gap, forming temperature, friction coefficient, and stamping speed on aluminum alloy formability were investigated using Taguchi design, grey relational analysis (GRA), and analysis of variance (ANOVA). Stamping tests were arranged at temperatures between 480 and 570 °C, blank holder force between 20 and 50 kN, stamping speed between 50 and 200 mm/s, die gap between 1.05 t and 1.20 t (t is the thickness of the sheet), and friction coefficient between 0.15 and 0.60. It was found that the significant factors affecting the forming quality of the hot-stamped parts were blank holder force and stamping speed, with influence significance of 28.64% and 34.09%, respectively. The optimal parameters for hot stamping of the automobile windshield beam by the above analysis are that the die gap is 1.05 t, the blank temperature is 540 °C, the coefficient of friction is 0.15, stamping speed is 200 mm/s, and blank holder force is 50 kN. The optimized maximum thickening rate is 4.87% and the maximum thinning rate is 9.00%. The optimization method used in this paper and the results of the process parameter optimization provide reference values for the optimization of hot stamping forming.

RESUMO

RATIONALE: A uterine tumor resembling an ovarian sex cord tumor (UTROSCT) is a clinically rare disease with an unclear origin and biological behavior. PATIENT CONCERNS: We present a case of UTROSCT in a 42-year-old woman who presented with abnormally increased menstrual volume for 2 years. DIAGNOSES: Initially, only ultrasound examination was performed to diagnose uterine fibroids, and then the tumor was surgically removed and sent for pathological examination. The patient was ultimately diagnosed with UTROSCT mainly based on pathological immunohistochemical examination and was further diagnosed with low malignant potential for recurrence based on genetic testing. INTERVENTIONS AND OUTCOMES: The patient underwent hysterectomy and bilateral adnexectomy, and no adjuvant radiotherapy or chemotherapy was performed after the surgery. Follow-up to date has indicated that she is in good condition. LESSONS: UTROSCT is a rare disease that requires pathological immunohistochemical examination to confirm the diagnosis and genetic testing when necessary so that a clear diagnosis can inform better decision-making regarding treatment measures.

RESUMO

Synchronous bilateral breast carcinoma (SBBC) radiotherapy is a very complicated and time-consuming process. Considering the advantages of unflattened (FFF) beams at a high dose rate, this work investigated the feasibility of FFF beam application in SBBC radiotherapy and compared the advantages between FFF and flattened (FF) beams. CT images of 13 patients with SBBC were retrospectively collected to design intensity-modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) and volumetric-modulated arc therapy (VMAT) plans using FF and FFF beams. Dosimetric verification was applied for each plan. The target volume metrics, dose received by organs at risk (OARs), and delivery parameter of the plans were documented. All plans met the universal tolerance limits in dosimetric verification. FFF decreased the volume to receive 5 Gy (V5Gy), V7Gy, and mean dose of the left lung but slightly increased the V30Gy of the liver for VMAT and decreased the V17Gy and V20Gy of the right lung for IMRT. No remarkable differences between FF and FFF were found in the other investigated OARs and all the investigated target volume metrics. The mean treatment times of FFF were 66 and 45 s shorter than those of FF for IMRT and VMAT, respectively. FFF beams were feasible and had advantages in reducing treatment time and protecting the lung while maintaining the target volume metrics in SBBC irradiation.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE: Ischemic stroke is a severe disorder with high rates of death and recurrence that causes disability in patients and for which there is currently no effective treatment. Internet-based rehabilitation helps patients with disability recover at home with the help of their household or family members in a nonclinical setting. However, the effects of the internet+continuing nursing (ICN) program on the recovery of patients after ischemic stroke remains unknown. METHODS: In the present study, patients were treated with an ICN-based rehabilitation training program; subsequently, the Self-efficacy Scale for Chronic Disease, Questionnaire of Exercise Adherence, Motor Assessment Scale, Activities of Daily Living, and Stroke-specific Quality of Life were performed to evaluate the effects of the ICN program on patient self-confidence to persist with rehabilitation, functional exercise compliance, motor function, ability to live independently and quality of life following ischemic stroke. RESULTS: We observed that, after the ICN intervention for 6 weeks and 3 months, the scores of Self-efficacy Scale for Chronic Disease, Questionnaire of Exercise Adherence, Motor Assessment Scale, Activities of Daily Living, and Stroke-specific Quality of Life in the ICN-treated group were significantly higher compared with those in the control group. CONCLUSION: These results suggested that the ICN program may promote the recovery of patients after ischemic stroke.
