RESUMO
Although Meckel's diverticulum (MD) is a relatively common asymptomatic gastrointestinal anomaly, an inverted MD is a rare entity that is challenging to diagnose prior to surgery and presents usually in the pediatric population with bleeding, anemia and abdominal pain. The most frequent adult presentation in non-inverted MD is intestinal obstruction, whereas bleeding and anemia are the most typical presenting complaints in inverted MD. Here, we report our experience with an adult female patient, who presented with 5 days duration of abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting. Imaging revealed signs of small bowel obstruction with bowel wall thickening in the terminal ileum and a double target appearance. This case describes a rare cause of adult intestinal intussusception because of inverted MD, which was successfully managed with surgery. The final pathology report confirms the diagnosis.
RESUMO
Primary Central Nervous System Lymphoma (PCNSL) is a rare, aggressive extranodal non-Hodgkin lymphoma. It is critical to get a diagnosis and start therapy as soon as possible to improve clinical results. Despite a new medicinal strategy that has increased survivability, the survival rate is still quite low. This report presents a new case of PCNSL that appears in an immunocompetent patient with two different rare genetic rearrangements and a necrotic histological appearance.
RESUMO
Pectus carinatum may rarely be associated with kyphosis. However, the correlation between both conditions is not well reported. Therefore, there are no reports for combined correction of both deformities in the same patient. Moreover, studies estimating the kyphosis prevalence in patients with pectus carinatum are lacking. To our knowledge, this is the first paper to present such a case. We report an 18-year-old boy with both pectus carinatum and kyphosis that were surgically corrected in a combined procedure. The indication of surgery is cosmetic, and the postoperative recovery included pneumothorax but was otherwise uneventful and satisfactory.
