RESUMO

High temperature stress (HTS) is a serious threat to plant growth and development and to crop production in the context of global warming, and plant response to HTS is largely regulated at the transcriptional level by the actions of various transcription factors (TFs). However, whether and how homeodomain-leucine zipper (HD-Zip) TFs are involved in thermotolerance are unclear. Herein, we functionally characterized a pepper (Capsicum annuum) HD-Zip I TF CaHDZ15. CaHDZ15 expression was upregulated by HTS and abscisic acid in basal thermotolerance via loss- and gain-of-function assays by virus-induced gene silencing in pepper and overexpression in Nicotiana benthamiana plants. CaHDZ15 acted positively in pepper basal thermotolerance by directly targeting and activating HEAT SHOCK FACTORA6a (HSFA6a), which further activated CaHSFA2. In addition, CaHDZ15 interacted with HEAT SHOCK PROTEIN 70-2 (CaHsp70-2) and glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase1 (CaGAPC1), both of which positively affected pepper thermotolerance. CaHsp70-2 and CaGAPC1 promoted CaHDZ15 binding to the promoter of CaHSFA6a, thus enhancing its transcription. Furthermore, CaHDZ15 and CaGAPC1 were protected from 26S proteasome-mediated degradation by CaHsp70-2 via physical interaction. These results collectively indicate that CaHDZ15, modulated by the interacting partners CaGAPC1 and CaHsp70-2, promotes basal thermotolerance by directly activating the transcript of CaHSFA6a. Thus, a molecular linkage is established among CaHsp70-2, CaGAPC1, and CaHDZ15 to transcriptionally modulate CaHSFA6a in pepper thermotolerance.

RESUMO

It is commonly believed that topologically nontrivial one-dimensional systems support edge states rather than bulk states at zero energy. In this work, we find an unanticipated case of topological Anderson insulator (TAI) phase where two bulk modes are degenerate at zero energy, in addition to degenerate edge modes. We term this "ungapped TAI" to distinguish it from the previously known gapped TAIs. Our experimental realization of both gapped and ungapped TAIs relies on coupled photonic resonators, in which the disorder in coupling is judiciously engineered by adjusting the spacing between the resonators. By measuring the local density of states both in the bulk and at the edges, we demonstrate the existence of these two types of TAIs, together forming a TAI plateau in the phase diagram. Our experimental findings are well supported by theoretical analysis. In the ungapped TAI phase, we observe stable coexistence of topological edge states and localized bulk states at zero energy, highlighting the distinction between TAIs and traditional topological insulators.

RESUMO

Genome-wide association study identified common variants within the ALDH1A2 gene as the susceptible loci of hand osteoarthritis (HOA) in UK and Iceland populations. Located in chromosome 15, ALDH1A2 encodes aldehyde dehydrogenase family 1 member A2, which is an enzyme that catalyses the synthesis of retinoic acid from retinaldehyde. Our purposes were to replicate the association of functional variant in ALDH1A2 with the development of HOA in the Chinese population. Variant rs12915901 of ALDH1A2 was genotyped in 872 HOA patients and 1223 healthy controls. Subchondral bone samples were collected from 40 patients who had undergone a trapeziectomy, and the tissue expression of ALDH1A2 was analysed. The chi-square analysis was used to compare the frequency of genotype and risk allele between the HOA cases and controls. The Student t test was used to compare the mRNA expression of ALDH1A2 between patients with genotype AA/AG and those with genotype GG. The frequency of genotype AA was significantly higher in HOA patients than in the controls (7.6% vs. 5.1%, p = .01). The frequency of allele A was significantly higher in the patients than in the controls (28.9% vs. 24.6%, p = .005). The mRNA expression of ALDH1A2 was 1.31-folds higher in patients with genotype GG than in the patients with genotype AA/AG (0.000617 ± 0.000231 vs. 0.000471 ± 0.000198, p = .04). Variant rs12915901 of ALDH1A2 contributed to the susceptibility of HOA in the Chinese population. Allele A of rs12915901 can add to the risk of HOA possibly via down-regulation of ALDH1A2 expression.

RESUMO

The CDK4/CDK6 inhibitor palbociclib has shown the encouraging promise in the treatment of glioma. Here, we elucidated how palbociclib exerts suppressive functions in the M2 polarization of glioma-related microglia and the progression of glioma. Xenograft experiments were used to evaluate the function in vivo. The mRNA levels of transcription factor 12 (TCF12) and VSIG4 were detected by RT-qPCR, and their protein levels were assessed by immunoblotting. Cell migration was tested by wound-healing assay. Cell cycle distribution and M1/M2 microglia phenotype analysis were performed by flow cytometry. The levels of IFN-γ, TNF-α, IL-6,and TGF-ß were measured by ELISA. The TCF12/VSIG4 association was verified by luciferase reporter and chromatin immunoprecipitation (ChIP) assays. In U251 and LN229 glioma cells, TCF12 and VSIG4 were overexpressed, and palbociclib reduced their expression levels. TCF12 upregulation enhanced the proliferation and migration of glioma cells and the M2 polarization of glioma-associated microglia in vitro as well as the tumorigenicity of U251 glioma cells in vivo, which could be reversed by palbociclib. Mechanistically, TCF12 could enhance VSIG4 transcription and expression by binding to the VSIG4 promoter. TCF12 deficiency led to repression in glioma cell proliferation and migration as well as microglia M2 polarization, which could be abolished by increased VSIG4 expression. Our study reveals the novel TCF12/VSIG4 axis responsible for the efficacy of palbociclib in combating glioma, offering a rationale for the application of palbociclib in glioma treatment.

RESUMO

Radiation-induced intestinal injury (RIII) is a common complication after radiation therapy in patients with pelvic, abdominal, or retroperitoneal tumours. Recently, in the model of DSS (Dextran Sulfate Sodium Salt) -induced intestinal inflammatory injury, it has been found in the study that transgenic mice expressing hVDR in IEC (Intestinal Epithelial Cell) manifest highly anti-injury properties in colitis, suggesting that activated VDR in the epithelial cells of intestine may inhibit colitis by protecting the mucosal epithelial barrier. In this study, we investigated the effect of the expression and regulation of VDR on the protection of RIII, and the radiosensitivity in vitro experiments, and explored the initial mechanism of VDR in regulating radiosensitivity of IEC. As a result, we found that the expression of VDR in intestinal tissues and cells in mice can be induced by ionizing radiation. VDR agonists are able to prolong the average survival time of mice after radiation and reduce the radiation-induced intestinal injury. For lack of vitamin D, the radiosensitivity of intestinal epithelial cells in mice increased, which can be reduced by VDR activation. Ensuing VDR activation, the radiation-induced intestinal stem cells damage is decreased, and the regeneration and differentiation of intestinal stem cells is promoted as well. Finally, on the basis of sequencing analysis, we validated and found that VDR may target the HIF/PDK1 pathway to mitigate RIII. We concluded that agonism or upregulation of VDR expression attenuates radiation-induced intestinal damage in mice and promotes the repair of epithelial damage in intestinal stem cells.

RESUMO

The wavelength of defect mode in all-dielectric photonic crystals (PCs) with a dielectric defect are blue-shifted as incident angle increases for both transverse electric and transverse magnetic (TM) polarized waves. The blue-shifted property of defect mode limits the design of some optical devices including omnidirectional optical filters and wide-angle polarization selectors. Here we introduce a hyperbolic metamaterial (HMM) layer as a defect into dielectric one-dimensional photonic crystals (1DPCs) to obtain an omnidirectional defect mode for TM polarized waves at near-infrared regimes. Since only one HMM layer is introduced, omnidirectional defect mode with transmittance as high as 71% can be realized. Because of the unusual angle-dependence of propagating phase in the HMM defect, the total phase for satisfying the resonance condition of defect mode can be unchanged in a wide-angle range at a fixed wavelength, which leads to the omnidirectional defect mode. Moreover, the manipulation of propagating phase can be generalized to the case of circularly polarized waves, and we obtain an omnidirectional defect mode for left-handed circularly polarized waves in 1DPCs with a chiral hyperbolic metamaterial defect. Nevertheless, the defect mode for right-handed circularly polarized waves is still blue-shifted. Such spin-selective omnidirectional defect mode can be utilized to greatly enhance circular dichroism in a wide-angle range up to 64.1°. Our structure facilitates the design of omnidirectional optical filters with a high transmittance and circular polarization selectors working in a wide-angle range.

RESUMO

Although toroidal dipole (TD) resonance is a highly localized mode with a high quality (Q) factor, in most chiral structures the TD resonance is much weaker than the electric or magnetic dipole resonances and contributes little to the chiral response. In this Letter, we theoretically propose a chiral all-dielectric TD metasurface that possesses giant optical chirality with a certain degree of incident-angle robustness induced by a strong TD resonance. Interestingly, the symmetry of the system can be broken simultaneously at oblique incidence to produce chiral quasi-bound states in the continuum. The nearly unchanged high-Q TD resonance within a certain range of incident angles can avoid the problem of a reduced image quality caused by the incident-angle sensitivity, as demonstrated by the polarization-multiplexed-field image displays. The giant chirality with a certain degree of incident-angle robustness induced by the TD mode would be useful in some applications, including high-quality optical imaging, high-performance asymmetric transmission, and sensing.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: The prognosis of advanced gastric cancer (AGC) patients has attracted much attention, but there is a lack of evaluation method. MRI-based radiomics has the potential to evaluate AGC patients' prognosis. PURPOSE: To identify and validate the risk stratification and overall survival (OS) in AGC patients using MRI-based radiomics. STUDY TYPE: Retrospective. SUBJECTS: A total of 233 patients (168 males, 63.6 ± 11.1 years; 65 females, 59.7 ± 11.8 years) confirmed AGC were collected. The data were randomly divided into a training (164) and validation set (69). SEQUENCE: A 3.0 T, axial T2-weighted, diffusion-weighted imaging, and contrast-enhanced T1-weighted (CE-T1WI). ASSESSMENT: Radiologist 1 segmented 233 patients and radiologist 2 segmented randomly 50 patients on CE-T1WI. The risk score (RS) was summed by each sample based on the radiomics features and correlation coefficients. Patients were followed up for 7-67 months (median 41; 138 dead and 95 alive). STATISTICAL TESTS: The intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) and Kappa value were calculated. Differences in survival analysis were assessed by Kaplan-Meier curves and log-rank test. Cox-regression analysis was performed to identify the radiomics features and clinical indicators associated with OS. The calibration curves were built to assess the model. A two-tailed P value < 0.05 was considered statistically significant. RESULTS: Integrated with age, lymphovascular invasion (LVI) and RS, a survival combined model was built. The area under the curve (AUC) for predicting 3-year and 5-year OS was 0.765 and 0.788 in the training set, 0.757 and 0.729 in the validation set. There was no significant difference between the radiomics model and survival combined model for 3-year (0.690 vs. 0.757, P = 0.425) and 5-year OS (0.687 vs. 729, P = 0.412) in the validation set. The calibration curves showed a high degree of fit for the survival combined model. DATA CONCLUSION: This study established a survival combined model that might help AGC patients in future clinical decision-making. EVIDENCE LEVEL: 33 TECHNICAL EFFICACY: Stage 5.

RESUMO

As a bioactive extract from tea leaves, tea polyphenols (TP) are safe and natural. Its excellent antioxidant and antibacterial properties are increasingly regarded as a good additive for improving degradable food packaging film properties. This article comprehensively reviewed the functional properties of active films containing TP developed recently. The effects of TP addition to enhancing active food packaging films' performance, including thickness, water sensitivity, barrier properties, color, mechanical properties, antioxidant, antibacterial, and intelligent discoloration properties, were discussed. Besides, the practical applications in food preservation of active films containing TP are also discussed. This work concluded that the addition of TP could impart antioxidant and antibacterial properties to active packaging films and act as a crosslinking agent to improve other physical and chemical properties of the film, such as mechanical and barrier properties. However, the effect of TP on specific properties of the active packaging film is complex, and the appropriate TP concentration needs to be selected according to the type of film matrix and the interaction between the components. Notably, the addition of TP improved the efficiency of the active packaging film in food preservation applications, which accelerates the process of replacing the traditional plastic-based food packaging with active packaging film.

RESUMO

Myocardial infarction (MI) is an instant ischemic death of cardiomyocytes that remains a major global cause of mortalities. MI is accompanied by oxidative, inflammatory, apoptotic, and fibrotic insults. Protocatechuic acid (PCA) is a polyphenolic compound with various potent biological activities. In this study, we explored the possible cardioprotective role of PCA against isoproterenol (ISO)-mediated MI. Rats were either injected with ISO (85 mg/kg, subcutaneously) or pretreated with PCA (100 or 200 mg/kg, orally). PCA supplementation markedly normalized ISO-induced disturbed cardiac function markers (creatine kinase-MB, lactate dehydrogenase, and troponin T). Notably, PCA administration exerted remarkable increases in glutathione and its derived enzymes, superoxide dismutase, and catalase, as well as decreases in malondialdehyde and nitric oxide levels in the injured cardiac tissue. The molecular findings validated the augmented cellular antioxidative capacity by PCA via increasing the gene expressions of nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2 and heme oxygenase-1. The cardioprotective efficacy of PCA extended to suppress cardiac inflammation as demonstrated by the decreased levels of tumor necrosis factor-alpha, interleukin-1 beta, and nuclear factor kappa B. Additionally, PCA prevented cardiomyocyte loss and fibrosis by decreasing Bax, caspase-3, transforming growth factor-ß1 and matrix metalloproteinase-9, and enhancing B-cell lymphoma 2 and tissue inhibitors of metalloproteinase-3. The cardiac histological screening further confirmed the PCA's protective action. The obtained data recommend PCA as an alternative therapeutic agent to attenuate the molecular, biochemical, and histological alterations associated with MI development.

RESUMO

Post-harvest fruits and vegetables are extremely susceptible to dramatic and accelerated quality deterioration deriving from their metabolism and adverse environmental influences. Given their vigorous physiological metabolism, monitoring means are lacking due to the extent that unnecessary waste and damage are caused. Numerous intelligent packaging studies have been hitherto carried out to investigate their potential for fruit and vegetable quality monitoring. This state-of-the-art overview begins with recent advances in target metabolites for intelligent packaging of fruits and vegetables. Subsequently, the mechanisms of action between metabolites and packaging materials are presented. In particular, the exact categorization and function of intelligent packaging of fruits and vegetables, are all extensively and comprehensively described. In addition, for the sake of further research in this field, the obstacles that impede the scaling up and commercialization of intelligent packaging for fruits and vegetables are also explored, to present valuable references.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to compare the effects of ERAS and conventional programs on short-term outcomes after LDG. SUMMARY OF BACKGROUND DATA: Currently, the ERAS program is broadly applied in surgical areas. Although several benefits of LDG with the ERAS program have been covered, high-level evidence is still limited, specifically in advanced gastric cancer. METHODS: The present study was designed as a randomized, multicenter, unblinded trial. The enrollment criteria included histologically confirmed cT2-4aN0-3M0 gastric adenocarcinoma. Postoperative complications, mortality, readmission, medical costs, recovery, and laboratory outcomes were compared between the ERAS and conventional groups. RESULTS: Between April 2019 and May 2020, 400 consecutive patients who met the enrollment criteria were enrolled. They were randomly allocated to either the ERAS group (n = 200) or the conventional group (n = 200). After excluding patients who did not undergo surgery or gastrectomy, 370 patients were analyzed. The patient demographic characteristics were not different between the 2 groups. The conventional group had a significantly longer allowed day of discharge and postoperative hospital stay (6.96 vs 5.83 days, P < 0.001; 8.85 vs 7.27 days, P < 0.001); a longer time to first flatus, liquid intake and ambulation (3.37 vs 2.52 days, P < 0.001; 3.09 vs 1.13 days, P < 0.001; 2.85 vs 1.38 days, P < 0.001, respectively); and higher medical costs (6826 vs 6328 $, P = 0.027) than the ERAS group. Additionally, patients in the ERAS group were more likely to initiate adjuvant chemotherapy earlier (29 vs 32 days, P = 0.035). There was no significant difference in postoperative complications or in the mortality or readmission rates. Regarding laboratory outcomes, the procalcitonin and C-reactive protein levels on postoperative day 3 were significantly lower and the hemoglobin levels on postoperative day 5 were significantly higher in the ERAS group than in the conventional group. CONCLUSION: The ERAS program provides a faster recovery, a shorter postoperative hospitalization length, and lower medical costs after LDG without increasing complication and readmission rates. Moreover, enhanced recovery in the ERAS group enables early initiation of adjuvant chemotherapy.

RESUMO

Photonic bandgap design is one of the most basic ways to effectively control the interaction between light and matter. However, the traditional photonic bandgap is always dispersive (blueshift with the increase of the incident angle), which is disadvantageous to the construction of wide-angle optical devices. Hypercrystal, the photonic crystal with layered hyperbolic metamaterials (HMMs), can strongly modify the bandgap properties based on the anomalous wavevector dispersion of the HMM. Here, based on phase variation competition between HMM and isotropic dielectric layers, we propose for the first time to design nonreciprocal and flexible photonic bandgaps in one-dimensional photonic crystals containing magneto-optical HMMs. Especially the zero-shift cavity mode and the blueshift cavity mode are designed for the forward and backward propagations, respectively. Our results show maximum absorption about 0.99 (0.25) in an angle range of 20-75 degrees for the forward (backward) incident light at the wavelength of 367 nm. The nonreciprocal omnidirectional cavity mode not only facilitates the design of perfect unidirectional optical absorbers working in a wide-angle range, but also possesses significant applications for all-angle reflectors and filters.

RESUMO

Usually, on-chip beam splitting can be achieved by manipulating the in-plane iso-frequency curves (IFCs) of the structure, where the confinement of light along the out-of-plane direction is governed by total internal reflection. In this Letter, without needing a high-index dielectric background material for total internal reflection, we achieve on-chip beam splitting in a linear-crossing metamaterial (LCMM) mimicked by a two-dimensional photonic crystal (PhC) slab where the vertical confinement is enabled by a bound state in the continuum (BIC) and totally beyond the light cone. Particularly, the light propagating inside the LCMM can be flexibly controlled by the rotation angle of the rectangular silicon pillars in the PhC slab. On-chip triple beam splitting can further be designed by combining two kinds of LCMM with opposite rotation angles. Such light beam splitting beyond the light cone originates from the combined manipulation of the BIC and the spatial dispersion of LCMMs. Our work promotes the development of optical devices in integrated optics, such as on-chip focusing, switching, and (de)multiplexing.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Research on short-term outcomes and oncology results after robotic gastrectomy (RG) is still limited, especially from a single surgical team. The purpose of this study was to compare the short-term and long-term outcomes of robotic and laparoscopic gastrectomy (LG). METHODS: Between October 2014 and September 2019, 1686 consecutive patients who underwent MIS gastrectomy were enrolled. The patients were divided into RG and LG groups according to surgical type. Groups were matched at a 1:1 ratio using propensity scores based on the following variables: age, sex, ASA score, primary tumor location, histologic type, pathological stage, and neoadjuvant chemotherapy. The primary outcomes were 3-year overall survival (OS) and relapse-free survival (RFS). The secondary outcomes were postoperative short-term outcomes. RESULTS: Demographic and baseline characteristics were similar between the two groups after matching. Compared to the LG group, the RG group had a significantly higher retrieved lymph node (LN) number (32.15 vs 30.82, P = 0.040), more retrieved supra-pancreatic LNs (12.45 vs 11.61, P = 0.028), lower estimated blood loss (73.67 vs 98.08 ml, P < 0.001), but longer operation time (205.18 vs 185.27 min, P < 0.001) and higher hospitalization costs ($13,607 vs $10,928, P < 0.001) in the matched cohort. In the subgroup analysis, we observed that compared with LG, patients with advanced gastric cancer benefitted more from RG surgery. The matched cohort analysis demonstrated no statistically significant differences for 3-year OS or RFS (log-rank, P = 0.648 and P = 0.951, respectively): 80.3% and 77.0% in LG vs. 81.2% and 76.6% in RG, respectively. CONCLUSION: RG has certain technical advantages over LG, especially in patients with advanced gastric cancer. However, RG does not improve long-term oncology outcomes.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: The purpose of this study was to compare the outcome between percutaneous pedicle screw fixation (PPSF) and the mini-open Wiltse approach with pedicle screw fixation (MWPSF) for neurologically intact thoracolumbar fractures. METHODS: From January 2017 to January 2019, ninety-four patients with neurologically intact thoracolumbar fractures were included in this study. In this retrospective study, forty-nine patients were operated with the PPSF and forty-five patients received MWPSF. The clinical information, surgery-related results and radiographic outcome were collected and compared between the two groups. RESULTS: There was no significant difference between the two groups in total length of incisions, blood loss, post-operative hospitalization time, visual analog scale (VAS) score and Oswestry disability index (ODI) score. There was also no significant difference in the accuracy rate of pedicle screw placement between two groups; however, the facet joint violation (FJV) was significantly higher in the PPSF group. The atrophic area of multifidus muscle in the PPSF group is significantly larger than that in the MWPSF group and the operative time of MWPSF group was shorter than that in the PPSF group. Meanwhile, the PPSF group obtaining significantly more cumulative exposure to radiation (p < 0.001). The result of vertebral body angle (VBA), Cobb's angle and AVH rate in the MWPSF group were significantly better than those in the PPSF group at the last post-operative follow-up. CONCLUSIONS: Both minimally invasive treatment techniques (PPSF and MWPSF) are safe and effective in treatment of neurologically intact thoracolumbar fractures. Nevertheless, our results indicate that MWPSF may be a better choice for neurologically intact thoracolumbar fractures, since it protects multifidus muscle, and decreases facet joint violation, operation time, as well as radiation exposure. RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Quercetin (Que) has many pharmacological activities, such as anticancer, antioxidant, cardiovascular protection, antihypertensive and lipid-lowering activities. However, its poor water solubility greatly limits its application in medicine and food. γ-Cyclodextrin metal-organic frameworks (γ-CD-MOFs) are novel porous carriers for loading functional products. In this study, Que was successfully loaded into γ-CD-MOFs, and the new compound (Que-CD-MOFs) was characterised by X-ray diffraction, infrared spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis and scanning electron microscopy. RESULTS: The apparent solubility of Que-CD-MOFs was enhanced by 100-fold compared with that of pure Que. The free radical scavenging ability of the encapsulated Que was significantly improved. The cytotoxicity of Que-CD-MOFs to HK-2 cells was decreased, and their inhibition on HT-29 tumour cells was maintained, as confirmed by CCK-8 assays. Flow cytometry of HT-29 cells showed that Que-CD-MOFs can inhibit G2 phase cells. Based on molecular modelling, Que molecules were preferentially located inside the cavities of γ-CD pairs in γ-CD-MOFs. CONCLUSION: γ-CD-MOFs are promising carriers for bioactive agents in food and pharmaceutical applications. © 2021 Society of Chemical Industry.

RESUMO

Objective To investigate the performance of the combined model based on both clinicopathological features and CT texture features in predicting liver metastasis of high-risk gastrointestinal stromal tumors(GISTs). Methods The high-risk GISTs confirmed by pathology from January 2015 to December 2020 were analyzed retrospectively, including 153 cases from the Cancer Hospital of the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences and 51 cases from the Shaoxing Central Hospital. The cases were randomly assigned into a training set(n=142)and a test set(n=62)at a ratio of 7∶3.According to the results of operation or puncture, they were classified into a liver metastasis group(76 cases)and a non-metastasis group(128 cases).ITK-SNAP was employed to delineate the volume of interest of the stromal tumors.Least absolute shrinkage and selection operator(LASSO)was employed to screen out the effective features.Multivariate logistic regression was adopted to construct the models based on clinicopathological features, texture features extracted from CT scans, and the both(combined model),respectively.Receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curve and calibration curve were established to evaluate the predictive performance of the models. The area under the curve(AUC)was compared by Delong test. Results Body mass index(BMI),tumor size,Ki-67,tumor occurrence site, abdominal mass, gastrointestinal bleeding, and CA125 level showed statistical differences between groups(all P<0.05).A total of 107 texture features were extracted from CT images, from which 13 and 7 texture features were selected by LASSO from CT plain scans and CT enhanced scans, respectively. The AUC of the prediction with the training set and the test set respectively was 0.870 and 0.855 for the model based on clinicopathological features,0.918 and 0.836 for the model based on texture features extracted from CT plain scans,0.920 and 0.846 for the model based on texture features extracted from CT enhanced scans, and 0.930 and 0.889 for the combined model based on both clinicopathological features and texture features extracted from CT plain scans.Delong test demonstrated no significant difference in AUC between the models based on the texture features extracted from CT plain scans and CT enhanced scans(P=0.762),whereas the AUC of the combined model was significantly different from that of the clinicopathological feature-based model and texture feature-based model(P=0.001 and P=0.023,respectively). Conclusion Texture features extracted from CT plain scans can predict the liver metastasis of high-risk GISTs,and the model established with clinicopathological features combined with CT texture features has best prediction performance.

RESUMO

Emerging evidence suggests that dysregulated circular RNAs (circRNAs) play a pivotal role in osteoarthritis (OA). Circ_0045714 is a functional circRNAs, and has been revealed to involve in the process of OA. However, the molecular mechanisms by which circ_0045714 regulates OA progression are not thoroughly elucidated. Circ_0045714 expression was decreased in OA and TNF-α-induced chondrocytes, ectopic overexpression of circ_0045714 abolished TNF-α-induced cell apoptosis, inflammation, extracellular matrix (ECM) degradation promotion and proliferation inhibition. In a mechanical study, circ_0045714 targeted miR-218-5p, and miR-218-5p overexpression reversed the effects of circ_0045714 on TNF-α-induced chondrocytes. Besides that, HRAS was a target of miR-218-5p, and HRAS knockdown attenuated the protective effects of miR-218-5p inhibition on TNF-α-induced chondrocyte dysfunction. Additionally, circ_0045714 could regulate HRAS expression via miR-218-5p in chondrocytes. Up-regulation of circ_0045714 suppressed TNF-α-induced chondrocyte growth inhibition, inflammation, and ECM degradation via miR-218-5p/HRAS axis, suggesting a novel insight into the pathogenesis of OA and the potential protective role of circ_0045714 in the occurrence and development of OA.

RESUMO

Magnetic near-field control has attracted extensive attention and have a wide range of applications in filters, sensors, and energy-transfer devices. Coding metamaterial has the convenience of miniaturization and integration, which not only provides a bridge between physics and information science, but also exploits a whole new perspective for magnetic near-field control. In this work, we theoretically propose and experimentally verify that the coding metasurface can realize the reconfigurable magnetic near-field distributions. By adjusting the digital voltage signals which drive the resonant units of metasurface, capacitance of the resonator can be dynamically controlled, thus the dynamic modulation of magnetic near-field distribution can be achieved. Specially, this magnetic near-field control can be explained with the help of coupled mode theory and coherent superposition method. Moreover, simulated annealing algorithm is employed to determine working frequency of the whole modulation system, which can avoid time-consuming frequency scanning process. The experimental results are in good agreement with the calculated results. This work reveals the significant potential of coding metasurface for the experimental study of the magnetic near-field control and promotes the use of metasurface for numerous integrated functional devices.
