(1) Background: Interparental conflict is a phenomenon that poses a serious threat not only to the quality of life of the couple but also to the father-child relationship, mother-child relationship, and well-being of adolescents. This study examined the difference in parental attachment and adjustment in adolescents exposed to marital conflict versus those not exposed to parental conflicts in low-income areas. (2) Methods: 67 adolescents involved in Child Welfare Services (CWS) in disadvantaged neighbourhoods in southern Spain were examined. The sample was split into two groups according to the exposure to marital conflict. Subsequently, differences between groups were analysed on father attachment, mother attachment, aggression, antisocial behaviour, and emotional intelligence. (3) Results: Primarily, the data showed significantly worse attachment with the father among conflict-exposed versus non-conflict-exposed adolescents. These results were not found for the attachment with the mother. Additionally, greater anger and worse stress management were found in conflict-exposed adolescents. (4) Conclusions: The results partially confirmed the spillover and compensatory hypothesis. Practical implications point out that developing preventive interventions that protect the father-adolescent attachment in situations of family conflict is recommended.

Taenia solium can cause human taeniasis and/or cysticercosis. The latter can in some instances cause human neurocysticercosis which is considered a priority in disease-control strategies and the prevention of mental health problems. Glutathione transferases are crucial for the establishment and long-term survival of T. solium; therefore, we structurally analyzed the 24-kDa glutathione transferase gene (Ts24gst) of T. solium and biochemically characterized its product. The gene promoter showed potential binding sites for transcription factors and xenobiotic regulatory elements. The gene consists of a transcription start site, four exons split by three introns, and a polyadenylation site. The gene architecture is conserved in cestodes. Recombinant Ts24GST (rTs24GST) was active and dimeric. Anti-rTs24GST serum showed slight cross-reactivity with human sigma-class GST. A 3D model of Ts24GST enabled identification of putative residues involved in interactions of the G-site with GSH and of the H-site with CDNB and prostaglandin D2. Furthermore, rTs24GST showed optimal activity at 45 °C and pH 9, as well as high structural stability in a wide range of temperatures and pHs. These results contribute to the better understanding of this parasite and the efforts directed to fight taeniasis/cysticercosis.

BACKGROUND: Transthyretin cardiac amyloidosis (ATTR amyloidosis) is a frequent etiology of heart failure. Inflammation and mineral metabolism are associated with myocardial dysfunction and clinical performance. Cardiac global longitudinal strain (GLS) allows function assessment and is associated with prognosis. Our aim was to describe possible correlations between GLS, biomarker levels and clinical performance in ATTR amyloidosis. METHODS: Thirteen patients with ATTR amyloidosis were included. Clinical characteristics; echocardiographic features, including strain assessment and 6 min walk test (6MWT); and baseline inflammatory, mineral metabolism and cardiovascular biomarker levels were assessed. RESULTS: Of the 13 patients, 46.2% were women, and the mean age was 79 years. TAPSE correlated with NT-ProBNP (r -0.65, p < 0.05) and galectin-3 (r 0.76, p < 0.05); E/E' ratio correlated with hsCRP (r 0.58, p < 0.05). Left ventricular GLS was associated with NT-ProBNP (r 0.61, p < 0.05) (patients have a better prognosis if the strain value is more negative) and left atrial GLS with NT-ProBNP (r -0.73, p < 0.05) and MCP1 (r 0.55, p < 0.05). Right ventricular GLS was correlated with hsTnI (r 0.62, p < 0.05) and IL6 (r 0.881, p < 0.05). Klotho levels were correlated with 6MWT (r 0.57, p < 0.05). CONCLUSIONS: While inflammatory biomarkers were correlated with cardiac function, klotho levels were associated with clinical performance in the population with TTR-CA.

Background: In Ecuador, the number of adults on hemodialysis (HD) continues to rise. Currently, the effect dietary habits and socioeconomic status (SES) have on blood pressure is not known for those on HD. Objectives: The objectives of this study focused on adults on HD in Quito, Ecuador to 1) assess the relationship between dietary intake and SES; 2) compare dietary intake to the Kidney Disease Outcomes Quality Initiative (KDOQI) guidelines; and 3) explore the relationship between dietary intake and systolic blood pressure. Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted at the dialysis center within Eugenio Espejo Specialties Hospital in Quito, Ecuador between May and June 2022 among 50 adults on HD. Three 24-h recalls were used to determine average dietary intake and the 25-item Instituto Nacional de Estadística y Censos-Stratification of SES was used to determine SES. Electrolytes and 2 blood pressure readings were collected. Qualitative narrative data analysis was performed to identify themes using NVivo v12. T-tests of independence, simple, and multiple linear regressions using age and sex as confounders were conducted using R and a P < 0.05 was deemed as statistically significant. Results: On an average, 76% of participants consumed <25 kcal/kg body weight energy and 64% consumed <1 g protein/kg body weight. Participants consumed less energy and protein compared with the KDOQI guidelines (P < 0.05). Positive relationships were observed with potassium and blood pressure (ß = 0.020, P < 0.05) and SES with energy, protein, and phosphorus (P < 0.05). Themes that were identified as contributing to dietary intake were limited knowledge, lack of consistency with dietary information, and limited appetite. Conclusions: Findings from this study indicate that the focus should be on improving energy and protein intake for this population.

RESUMO

The prevention science has endorsed standards for evidence related to research on programme evaluation. However, some controversies persist regarding its application in the provision of family support under the European Positive Parenting initiative. This Special Issue aims to map the expansion of preventive family support programmes in Spain and to contrast the quality of the evidence against the prevention standards according with the European Family Support Network. Members of the Spanish Family Support Network made up of entities in several sectors identified 57 programmes implemented in Spain and filled in a formative evaluation sheet for each programme. The articles in this issue analysed the results of four main aspects in all programmes: description, implementation, evaluation, and impact/sustainability. The findings will inform the scope and variety of support provided and the quality of programmes in Spain, providing guidelines for improvement and addressing challenges to reinforce quality assurance in child and family services.(AU)


La ciencia de la prevención avala los estándares de evidencia relativos a la investigación en evaluación de programas. Sin embargo, hay aún controversia en cuanto a su aplicación a la prestación de apoyo familiar bajo la iniciativa europea de la parentalidad positiva. El número especial tiene por objeto mapear la extensión de los programas preventivos de apoyo familiar en España y comparar la calidad de las pruebas con los estándares de prevención de la Red Europea de Apoyo Familiar. Los miembros de la Red Española de Apoyo Familiar, formada por entidades de varios sectores, han identificado 57 programas que se utilizan en España y cumplimentado una ficha de evaluación formativa para cada programa. Los artículos de este número analizan los resultados de cuatro aspectos principales de todos los programas: descripción, implementación, evaluación e impacto/sostenibilidad. Los resultados describen el panorama y variedad del apoyo brindado y la calidad de los programas en España, proporcionando orientación sobre mejora y abordando los desafíos para reforzar la garantía de calidad en los servicios para la infancia, adolescencia y familias.(AU)

La calidad es una exigencia vigente a nivel mundial en el área de la educación, a su vez constituye un indicador fundamental para las instituciones educativas, sujetas a proporcionar un servicio de excelencia. Por ello resulta necesario evaluar la gestión de calidad en las bibliotecas médicas de Villa Clara, de manera tal que se contribuya al mejoramiento de su funcionamiento y lograr un mayor nivel de satisfacción de las necesidades informativas de sus usuarios. Se tomaron como referentes teóricos el modelo de evaluación de bibliotecas universitarias cubanas, y los documentos normativos y teórico-metodológicos del Centro Nacional de Información sobre la temática.


Quality is a worldwide requirement in the education area, and at the same time it is a fundamental indicator for educational institutions which are subjected to provide a service of excellence. For this reason, evaluating the quality management of medical libraries in Villa Clara is a necessity, in order to contribute to the improvement of their functioning and to achieve a higher level of satisfaction of their users' information needs. The evaluation model for Cuban university libraries and the normative, theoretical and methodological documents of the National Information Center of Medical Sciences regarding this subject were taken as theoretical references.

Since the well-known publication of the Society for Prevention Research about standards for evidence related to research on prevention interventions, a rigorous evaluation is considered one of the main requirements for evidence-based programmes. Despite their importance, many programmes do not include evaluation designs that meet the most widely agreed quality standards. The aim of this study was to examine the evaluation processes of fifty-seven Spanish programmes identified in the context of the COST European Family Support Network. The obtained results provide a fairly positive picture of the quality of programme evaluation standards, although more designs that include a control group, follow-up evaluations assessing long-term effects, and the evaluation of child and indirect outcomes are needed. The results are discussed from a comprehensive and plural perspective of evaluation which, in addition to methodological rigor, considers the usefulness, feasibility, and ethical rigor of evaluation research.(AU)


A partir de las propuestas de la Society for Prevention Research sobre los estándares de evidencia necesarios para las intervenciones preventivas, contar con una evaluación rigurosa se considera como uno de los principales requisitos de los programas basados en la evidencia. A pesar de su importancia, muchos programas de apoyo familiar no cuentan con diseños de evaluación que cumplan con los estándares de calidad más consensuados. El objetivo de este artículo fue analizar los procesos de evaluación de cincuenta y siete programas españoles identificados en el marco del proyecto COST European Family Support Network. Los resultados obtenidos muestran una imagen bastante positiva de los estándares de calidad que caracterizan la evaluación de los programas, aunque es necesario ampliar el número de diseños que incluyan grupos de comparación, que contemplen medidas de los efectos en el bienestar infantil y que lleven a cabo evaluaciones de seguimiento para medir los efectos a largo plazo de las intervenciones. Se analizan los resultados desde un enfoque plural de la evaluación, que además del rigor metodológico considera la necesidad de tener en cuenta la utilidad, la viabilidad y el rigor ético de las investigaciones de evaluación.(AU)

Introducción: el examen del pie es fundamental en pacientes con diabetes mellitus (DM). La correcta evaluación del pie en el paciente que concurre a control diabetológico es clave para establecer factores de riesgo para el desarrollo de úlceras, detectar lesiones, tomar medidas preventivas, realizar una derivación temprana y educar en cuidados del pie. Objetivos: en este estudio se examinaron los pies de personas con DM durante la Campaña de Concientización y Prevención del Pie Diabético el 1º de noviembre de 2019 con el fin de evaluar la presencia de síntomas y signos relacionados con neuropatía, enfermedad vascular periférica, y prevalencia de los mismos, y conocer el riesgo. Materiales y métodos: se analizaron 165 pacientes en cuatro centros: Sanatorio Güemes (Servicio de Diabetes y Endocrinología), PREDIGMA (Centro de Medicina Preventiva, Posadas, Misiones), Hospital Central de San Isidro, Nexo Centro Médico (Ciudad de Junín) y Hospital Municipal de General Viamonte (Provincia de Buenos Aires). Resultados: se encontró que el 43,6% presentaba algún síntoma en miembros inferiores y hasta el 57% alteración en las pruebas de tamizaje de neuropatía diabética o enfermedad arterial periférica, con mayor prevalencia a mayor tiempo de evolución de la DM. Los signos más frecuentemente hallados en el examen físico fueron: piel seca (71,5%), distrofia ungueal (60,6%) o alteración de la almohadilla plantar (52,1%). Las comorbilidades más frecuentes fueron: hipertensión (74,5%) y dislipemia (73,3%). La mediana de hemoglobina glicosilada fue de 7,40% (6,70-8,10), mayor en personas con antecedentes de retinopatía (7,8%; p<0,01) y en pacientes que refirieron tener calambres (7,85 a 7,30; p=0,03) o ardor (8,0 vs 7,3; p<0,01). El porcentaje de pacientes con pie de alto riesgo por antecedentes, inspección o tamizaje de neuropatía o enfermedad vascular representó desde el 40% en aquellos con DM de menos de cinco años de evolución hasta el 86% en quienes tenían más de 20 años. Conclusiones: el elevado porcentaje de pacientes con pie de riesgo identificado en este estudio sugiere que, además del correcto examen físico, se requiere la toma de conductas por parte del médico tratante, como la indicación de plantillas o calzado adecuado, así como una fluida derivación al técnico en ortesis, traumatólogo o fisiatra.


Introduction: foot examination is essential in patients with diabetes mellitus (DM). The correct evaluation of the foot in the patient who attends diabetes control is key to establish risk factors for the development of ulcers, detect injuries, take preventive measures, make an early referral and educate in foot care. Objectives: in this study, the feet of people with DM were examined during the Diabetic Foot Awareness and Prevention Campaign on November 1, 2019 in order to assess the presence of symptoms and signs related to neuropathy, peripheral vascular disease, prevalence of the same and know the risk. Materials and methods: 165 patients were analyzed in four centers: Sanatorio Güemes (Diabetes and Endocrinology Service), PREDIGMA (Preventive Medicine Center, Posadas, Misiones), Central Hospital of San Isidro, Nexo Medical Center (Junín City) and Hospital Municipal of General Viamonte (Province of Buenos Aires). Results: it was found that 43.6% had some symptoms in the lower limbs and up to 57% had an alteration in the screening tests for diabetic neuropathy or peripheral arterial disease, with a higher prevalence the longer the evolution of DM. The most frequent signs found in the physical examination were: dry skin (71.5%), nail dystrophy (60.6%) or alteration of the foot pad (52.1%). The lost frequent comorbidities were: hypertension (74.5%) and dyslipidemia (73.3%). The median glycated hemoglobin was 7.40% (6.70-8.10), higher in people with a history of retinopathy (7.8%; p <0.01) and in patients who reported having cramps (7, 85 to 7.30; p = 0.03) or burning (8.0 vs 7.3; p <0.01). The percentage of patients with high-risk foot due to antecedents, inspection or screening for neuropathy or vascular disease represented from 40% in those with DM of less than five years of evolution to 86% in those who were older than 20 years. Conclusions: this high percentage of patients with foot at risk identified in this study suggests that, in addition to the correct physical examination, the attending physician requires the taking of behaviors, such as the indication of appropriate footwear or insoles, as well as a fluid referral to the orthotic technician, orthopedic surgeon, or physiatrist.

Resumen La compresión de los procesos de aprendizaje durante la adultez requiere considerar tanto el contexto de aprendizaje como las características personales de los aprendices. En este marco, el estudio que se describe en este artículo explora los procesos de aprendizaje adulto en contextos no formales siguiendo el modelo de Kolb (1984), a la vez que se analiza su variabilidad en función de diferentes características personales de los participantes. Los resultados obtenidos confirmaron la existencia de una importante variabilidad en las formas de aprender de los adultos participantes en la investigación, y mostraron que algunas características personales como las condiciones socio-laborales y la trayectoria personal de riesgo guardaban relación con las diferencias observadas. El papel de estas características personales, así como de otras variables relacionadas con los adultos como aprendices, es discutido, a la vez que se destacan importantes implicaciones metodológicas a tener en cuenta cuando se planifican experiencias educativas no formales con personas adultas.


Abstract It is necessary to evaluate the learning context and individual characteristics of learners to understand the adult learning process. In this study, adult learning processes at non-formal situations according to Kolb´s model (1984) are described, considering its variability according to individual characteristics. Variability in adult learning processes was found, with socio-laboral conditions and risk trajectories playing a relevant role. These results are discussed, and methodological implications for planning adult learning experiences are highlighted.

Resumen En este artículo se presenta un análisis factorial de las escalas FACES III con una muestra de familias en situación de riesgo psicosocial (N= 324). Los resultados no replican la estructura bidimensional original de la prueba, e indican que solo la escala de cohesión (prescindiendo de tres ítems) obtiene propiedades psicométricas aceptables en esta muestra. Las significativas relaciones de las puntuaciones de esta escala con las de otras dimensiones relevantes del microsistema familiar ofrecen algunas evidencias de la validez de esta solución. Se discute la necesidad de revisar la escala de adaptabilidad propuesta por los autores y reformularla para poder evaluar empíricamente este constructo formulado teóricamente desde el modelo circumplejo del funcionamiento familiar.


Abstract In this article a factor analysis of FACES III with a sample of families at psychosocial risk (N= 324) is presented. The original two-factor structure is not found, and only the cohesion scale (deleting three items) shows adequate psychometric properties with this sample. Significant correlations between the obtained scale and other dimensions of family dynamics (i.e., family self-esteem, parenting alliance and marital satisfaction) evidence validity. The need for reviewing and reformulating the adaptability scale proposed by the authors is discussed, in order to empirically evaluate this theoretical construct from the circumplex model of family functioning.

Objectives: To compare the efficacy of 4 different analgesic regimens that include music and nitrous oxide during the treatment of renal lithiasis with ambulatory extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL). Materials and Methods: A single-centre, longitudinal, prospective, randomized, open and parallel group study was conducted. Patients with renal lithiasis were included and were randomized to Group A (basal analgesia: midazolam (1 mg), fentanyl (0.05 mg) and dexketoprofen (50 mg)), Group B (basal analgesia and nitrous oxide), Group C (basal analgesia and music) and Group D (basal analgesia, nitrous oxide and music). For the measurement of pain, a visual analogue scale ranging from 0 (no pain) to 100 (maximum pain imaginable) was used. Patient satisfaction was assessed using a Likert questionnaire. The epidemiological data of the patients in terms of lithiasis, previous clinical and ESWL sessions, and pain measured with the VAS before, during (maximum) at the end of the session and at discharge were recorded. Data on complications were also collected, as was the patients’ subjective evaluation of the treatment and their satisfaction. The ESWL procedure was performed with a Storz Modulith SLX-F2® lithotripter. A maximum of 4000 waves were applied at a frequency of 1.5 Hz. Results: Eighty patients were included (20 per group). None of the analgesia guidelines proved to be superior to the others for pain control during the ESWL session. Patients younger than 50 years had significantly higher values for the maximum VAS. Only 13.75% of patients required rescue analgesia. A total of 77.5% described their experience as good, very good or excellent, regardless of the assigned group. Conclusions: The addition of nitrous oxide and/or music did not result in a statistically significant improvement over the basal analgesia regimen of midazolam, fentanyl and dexketoprofen; however, the degree of patient satisfaction was very high (AU)

La incorporación de la parentalidad positiva al trabajo con familias ha supuesto la adopción de un enfoque de intervención proactivo y capacitador, desde el que se reconoce la pluralidad de formas en el ejercicio de la parentalidad y se asume la responsabilidad institucional de apoyar a las familias para que cumplan adecuadamente las tareas relacionadas con el cuidado y la educación de sus hijos e hijas. Tanto en el ámbito institucional como investigador, el reto actual se sitúa en garantizar que las iniciativas de parentalidad positiva que se ponen en marcha cumplan con los estándares de calidad reconocidos a nivel internacional para los programas psicoeducativos. En este trabajo se introduce el enfoque de parentalidad positiva como paraguas para el trabajo con familias y se describen los principales criterios de calidad de los programas basados en evidencias en esta materia. Posteriormente se presentan brevemente las iniciativas de promoción de parentalidad positiva que forman parte de este número. El trabajo finaliza con una reflexión acerca de cuáles son los futuros retos a abordar para un apoyo efectivo al ejercicio positivo de la parentalidad


The inclusion of a positive parenting approach in family support has translated into the stimulus of active and strengthening interventions, the recognition of diversity in parenting, as well as the assumption of institutional responsibilities in supporting families regarding their childrearing tasks. From both the political sphere and the academia, the current challenge is to guarantee that positive parenting initiatives meet the international quality standards for psychoeducational programs. In this paper, both the positive parenting approach for supporting families and quality standards of evidence based programs are described. The initiatives for enhancing positive parenting included in this monograph are also briefly introduced. The manuscript ends discussing future challenges in ensuring effective support of positive parenting

Los centros educativos residenciales tienen como principal cometido ofrecer la oportunidad de continuar los estudios a menores que debido a diversas características relacionadas tanto con su contexto familiar como con los recursos socioeducativos de su lugar de residencia no tienen acceso a la educación secundaria en su entorno más cercano. El objetivo de este estudio fue evaluar la calidad como contexto educativo de una casa hogar de una zona rural peruana y el ajuste psicoeducativo de los menores internos en ella. Para ello se evaluó la calidad de vida, la autoestima, las habilidades sociales, el rendimiento académico y los problemas de comportamiento de los 28 menores residentes en la casa hogar y de un grupo de comparación compuesto por 20 menores que convivían en su contexto familiar. Los resultados obtenidos pusieron de manifiesto una calidad del contexto casa hogar media-baja, sin que ello mostrara una repercusión negativa en el ajuste adolescente en términos generales (a excepción de las dimensiones aceptación social y rendimiento académico). Se discuten estos resultados a la luz de la evidencia empírica disponible


Residential schools are aimed to provide a chance of benefiting from secondary education to adolescents without access to formal education, due to family difficulties and/or the absence of educational services in their hometown. The aim of this study was to evaluate the quality of a Peruvian rural residential school as an educative scenario. For this purpose, quality of live, self-esteem, social skills, school performance and behavioral problems were evaluated in a sample of 28 adolescents living in residential schools. A comparison group made up by 20 adolescents living with their families was included. The results showed a medium-low level of quality of the residential school as an educative scenario, although no negatives consequences for psycho-educational adjustment were observed (except for social self-esteem and school performance). These results are discussed according to empirical evidence on the topic

This paper analyses the implementation characteristics of the Family Education and Support program, a theory-driven, needs-based, and evidence-based positive parenting program originally developed for the Andalusian family preservation services. The implementation process of 34 trials of the FAF program with 155 participants was analyzed. Cluster analyses were also performed to explore variability in implementation conditions from a comprehensive perspective. Results showed different implementation profiles that moderated the FAF effectiveness (namely lengthier interventions, higher program fidelity, and practitioners' positive perceptions and satisfaction with the program). The relevance of examining implementation process across several trials is discussed in order to distinguish core and non-core FAF components, as well as the need for combining faithful and adaptable implementations that guarantee the ecologic validity of evidence-based positive parenting programs


Este artículo analiza las características de implementación del programa de 'Formación y apoyo familiar' (FAF). A partir de un análisis de necesidades, con una sólida fundamentación teórica y cumpliendo con los criterios de los programas basados en evidencias, el FAF se aplica en los servicios de preservación familiar de Andalucía para la promoción de la parentalidad positiva. En este artículo se analiza el proceso de implementación de 34 aplicaciones del programa FAF en las que participaron 155 madres. Desde una aproximación integral, se realizó un análisis de clústeres para explorar la variabilidad en las condiciones de implementación. Los resultados mostraron diferentes perfiles de implementación que moderaban la efectividad del programa FAF. Los grupos que mostraron mejores resultados fueron los de más duración, mayor tamaño y los que fueron aplicados con más fidelidad y por profesionales que valoraban muy positivamente el programa. Se discute la utilidad de examinar el proceso de implementación de diferentes aplicaciones del programa para identificar los elementos centrales del mismo y que necesitan ser respetados. Asimismo, se concluye con la necesidad de combinar fidelidad y flexibilidad para asegurar la validez ecológica de los programas de parentalidad positiva basados en la evidencia

RESUMO

En este trabajo se presenta el diseño de un proyecto de investigación que cuenta con una doble finalidad. Por un lado, contribuir al conocimiento sobre las competencias y las necesidades de apoyo que presentan las familias con hijos adolescentes que padecen problemas de salud mental, tanto atendiendo al análisis de la literatura científica existente, como analizando las necesidades y las competencias que presentan este tipo de familias en nuestro contexto socio-cultural. Por otro lado, obtener la información necesaria para diseñar un programa de intervención destinado a apoyar y promover la parentalidad positiva en estas familias. De la información presentada se concluye que este proyecto se sitúa en consonancia con las recomendaciones nacionales e internacionales que instan al cambio desde modelos de la evaluación e intervención familiar centrados en el déficit hacia enfoques más positivos y capacitadores. Igualmente, se concluye que este proyecto puede representar un nuevo marco de intervención para la mejora de la calidad de vida de este colectivo que surge como fruto de un trabajo conjunto y coordinado que, mediante un enfoque multi-método y multi-informante, integra las aportaciones de los expertos, el conocimiento de los profesionales de salud mental y las vivencias y percepciones de los propios adolescentes y sus familias


This paper presents the design of a project with a twofold aim. Firstly, to contribute to the knowledge about the competences and support needs experienced by families of adolescents with mental health problems, both reviewing the available literature and studying the specific competences and needs experienced by these families in our context. Secondly, to obtain information to design an intervention programme to support and promote positive parenthood in these families. From the information presented can be drawn that this project is in accordance with the national and international recommendations that urge a change from deficit models to a strength-based perspective of family assessment and intervention. Likewise, the presented project provides a new intervention framework to improve the quality of life of these families. It resulted from a coordinated effort that, using a multi-method and multi-informant approach, integrates the contributions of experts, the knowledge and views of mental health professionals and the experiences and perceptions of adolescents affected by mental health problems and their families

La incorporación de la parentalidad positiva al trabajo con familias ha supuesto la adopción de un enfoque de intervención proactivo y capacitador que sitúa los programas de educación parental en el ámbito de la prevención y promoción como punta de lanza en el apoyo a las familias, para que cumplan adecuadamente las tareas relacionadas con el cuidado y la educación de sus hijos e hijas. En este trabajo se describe el programa Apego, una iniciativa de carácter psicoeducativo dirigida a promover la parentalidad positiva desde el contexto sanitario en el ámbito de la promoción y prevención primaria. A la luz de las características del programa, se discuten sus fortalezas y debilidades según los estándares de calidad actuales en el trabajo con familias


The inclusion of a positive parenting approach in family support has translated into the stimulus of active and strengthening interventions, placing preventive and promoting parent education programmes as valuable initiatives in supporting families regarding their childrearing tasks. In this paper, the programme Apego (Attachment in English) is described. This is a psychoeducational program aimed at enhancing positive parenting from health services at a preventive level. From Apego programme characteristics, its strengths and weakness are discussed according to current quality standards in family support area

Las recomendaciones nacionales e internacionales en materia de promoción de parentalidad positiva reconocen la necesidad de apoyar a las familias para un ejercicio adecuado de sus funciones educativas, particularmente a aquellas que se encuentran situaciones de riesgo psicosocial. Estas recomendaciones sitúan a los servicios municipales como las instituciones idóneas para garantizar dicho apoyo. En este trabajo se presenta el Programa de Promoción de Parentalidad Positiva en Polígono Sur (5P’s), una iniciativa de carácter psicoeducativo y comunitario que surge, fundamentalmente, por la necesidad de disponer de materiales y recursos específicos para familias que, por su situación de particular vulnerabilidad, por sus propios valores culturales, así como por las particularidades del barrio en el que habitan (una zona de necesidad de transformación social), no se beneficiarían de otros programas ya existentes. A lo largo de este trabajo se describen los contenidos del programa, su estructura y el diseño de evaluación previsto y se discuten sus fortalezas y retos futuros


Both national and international recommendations on positive parenting recognize the need for supporting families in their childrearing tasks, particularly in psychosocial-risk situations. These recommendations highlight local services as the best source to support families. In this paper the Program for Promoting Positive Parenting in Polígono Sur (5P’s) is described. 5P’s is a psycho-educational and community initiative starting from the need for specific materials for vulnerable families because of: (1) their psychosocial profile, (2) their cultural values; (3) living in a neighborhood with at-risk conditions. The contents, the format and the evaluation design of the program are introduced. Strengths and future challenges are discussed

El leiomioma de la uretra es un raro tumor de origen mesenquimal que deriva del músculo liso de la uretra. Suele aparecer en mujeres en edad fértil. Actualmente se han publicado poco más de 100 casos de este tumor. La mayoría de las mujeres presentan síntomas como hematuria, infección urinaria y otros con relación al efecto masa del tumor. Presentamos el caso de una mujer de 42 años que debuta con hematuria esporádica, disuria y dispareunia, confirmándose en el estudio histológico la presencia de un leiomioma de la uretra (AU)


Urethral leiomyoma is a rare benign mesenchymal tumour arising from the smooth muscle of the urethra. It most often appears in females of reproductive age. Approximately 100 cases have been reported to date. The most usual presentation is urinary infection, hematuria or a mass. We report a case of a 42 year old woman who presented with sporadic hematuria, dysuria and dyspareunia. Histopathological studies confirmed urethral leiomyoma (AU)

Introducción. La variante lipomatosa del angiomiofibroblastoma de vulva es un tumor mesenquimal infrecuente con pocos casos descritos en la literatura. Es un tumor benigno de crecimiento lento cuya importancia reside en su diagnóstico correcto, diferenciándolo del angiomixoma agresivo, ya que tienen un manejo distinto. Caso clínico. Paciente mujer de 33 años de edad con una tumoración en la región vulvar de meses de evolución. En la exploración se visualizaba una tumoración enrojecida en el labio mayor izquierdo de 7cm de diámetro, no dolorosa y móvil. Se realizó una tumorectomía vulvar y el análisis anatomopatológico determinó que se trataba de un angiomiofibroblastoma variante lipomatosa. La paciente evolucionó correctamente tras el postoperatorio, encontrándose en periodo libre de enfermedad. Conclusiones. La variante lipomatosa del angiomiofibroblastoma de vulva es un tumor benigno de buena evolución cuya importancia clínica reside en el diagnóstico diferencial con el angiomixoma agresivo vulvar, ya que su tratamiento quirúrgico conservador y su buen pronóstico a largo plazo difiere del presentado por el angiomixoma agresivo (AU)


Background. The lipomatous variant of angiomyofibroblastoma of the vulva is a rare mesenchymal tumour; only a few cases have been reported to date. It is a slow-growing benign tumour whose importance lies in its correct diagnosis differentiating it from aggressive angiomyxoma which requires a different clinical management. Case report. A 33-year-old female patient presented with a tumour in the vulvar region of several months evolution. On examination a painless, mobile, red tumour, 7cm in diameter, was found in the left labia. Vulvar lumpectomy was performed and histopathology showed it to be a lipomatous variant angiomyofibroblastoma. The patient made a good post-operative recovery and is free of disease. Conclusions. The lipomatous variant of angiomyofibroblastoma of the vulva is a benign tumour of good evolution and long-term prognosis which requires only conservative surgical treatment. Its clinical significance lies in the importance of differentiating it from aggressive vulvar angiomyxoma (AU)
