RESUMO

Objective:To analyze the safety and effectiveness of superselective embolization of the uterine arteries in the treatment of uterine fibroids. Methods:The clinical data of 60 patients with uterine fibroids who were admitted to Zhejiang Veteran Hospital from February 2020 to February 2022 were retrospectively analyzed. These patients were divided into a control group and an observation group ( n = 30/group) according to different surgical methods. The control group underwent conventional surgery. The observation group underwent superselective embolization of the uterine arteries. Uterine size, uterine fibroid size, postoperative hormone level, and complications were compared between the two groups. Results:There was no significant difference in total response rate between the observation and control groups [93.33 (28/30) vs. 83.33 (25/30), χ2 = 1.46, P > 0.05]. After surgery, serum estradiol, luteinizing hormone, follicle-stimulating hormone, and progesterone levels in the observation group were (164.14 ± 19.97) ng/L, (2.43 ± 1.47) IU/L, (2.51 ± 1.14) IU/L, and (5.05 ± 0.43) μg/L, respectively, which were significantly lower than (190.23 ± 21.62) ng/L, (3.78 ± 1.63) IU/L, (3.94 ± 1.23) IU/L, (8.22 ± 1.35) μg/L in the control group ( t = 4.86, 3.37, 4.67, 12.25, all P < 0.05). The incidence of postoperative complications in the observation group was significantly lower than that in the control group [3.33% (1/30) vs. 20.00% (6/30), χ2 = 4.04, P < 0.05). Conclusion:Compared with conventional surgery, superselective embolization of the uterine arteries is more effective on uterine fibroids, better keep postoperative hormone level stable, and reduce or avoid short- and long-term complications. Therefore, superselective embolization of the uterine arteries for the treatment of uterine fibroids deserves the clinical promotion.

RESUMO

ObjectiveTo determine the prevalence of avian influenza viruses in the external environment of poultry in Anqing City, Anhui Province, and provide scientific evidence for prevention and control of animal-derived influenza in humans. MethodsA total of 28 farmers’ markets/farms in 10 counties (cities, districts) of Anqing City, Anhui Province, were selected as surveillance sites by simple random sampling strategy. Poultry faeces and other related samples were collected for 6 consecutive weeks. Real-time fluorescence quantitative PCR was used to examine the nucleic acids of influenza A virus. Subtypes H5, H7, and H9 of avian influenza virus were further tested in the positive samples. ResultsA total of 426 specimens were collected, among which 113 tested positive with a positive rate of 26.53%. Among the positive specimens, 104 were determined to be subtype H9, accounting for 92.04%. It did not significantly differ in the positive rate between the main and non-main urban areas (χ2<0.01, P>0.05) or among the specimens collected in different weeks (χ2=7.57, P>0.05). However, it significantly differed in the positive rate among the specimens collected in the third week and other weeks (χ2=6.89, P<0.05). Furthermore, among the different sampling sites, farms had the highest positive rate of 46.67%. Among the specimens from different sources, the surface-coated specimens from poultry cages had the highest positive rate of 34.78%. ConclusionAvian influenza viruses are prevalent in the external environment of poultry in Anqing City. It warrants strengthening the surveillance and risk assessment to reduce the virus transmission in the external environment and risk of human infection with animal-derived influenza.

RESUMO

Objective To investigate the associations between the single nucleotide polymorphisms of TERT rs2736098, CLK3 rs11543198 and bladder cancer. Methods 201 bladder cancer cases and 200 healthy controls were included in the research, and the genotypes of TERT rs2736098 and CLK3 rs11543198 were determined using the PCR-RFLP method. Relationship between genotypes and bladder cancer risks was investigated. Results There were statistical significance in the rs2736098 genotype frequencies and allele frequencies between cases and controls (χ2= 6.973, P = 0.031; χ2= 7.412, P = 0.006). Compared with the individuals with the GG genotype , the risk of bladder cancer increased 2.069 times with the AA genotype (OR = 2.069, 95%CI: 1.181-3.624, P = 0.011). And there were no significant associations between the rs11543198 genotype frequencies and allele frequencies between cases and controls (χ2 = 0.202, P = 0.904; χ2 = 0.188, P = 0.665). Rs2736098 and rs11543198 genotype distribution in bladder cancer pathologic grade and stage had no statistical significance (P > 0.05). Conclusion Rs2736098 polymorphism is associated with risk of bladder cancer and rs11543198 polymorphism was not associated with risk of bladder cancer.

RESUMO

ScanningElectronMicroscopy/EnergyDispersionSpectrum(SEM/EDS),ElectronProbe Microanalysis ( EPMA ) and Optical Microscopy ( OM ) are the traditional methods for inclusion type identifying at present. The disadvantages such as inconvenient sample preprocessing, low sensitivity and time consuming limited their application. Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy ( LIBS) is not only performing in bulk analysis field but also in elemental distribution and depth profile information field, so it causes great concern in material science. In this paper, 34CrNiMo6 steel and heavy railway steel samples were analyzed by LIBS in scanning mode to characterize the inclusion type. For 34CrNiMo6 steel, 2D intensity distribution and channel combination revealed the spectra line intensity of Mn and S were abnormal high simultaneously at some region, which indicated there were some MnS inclusion existed in these samples. And for heavy railway steel, 2D distribution and channel combination revealed the spectra line intensity of Si, Ca, Mg and Al were abnormal high simultaneously at some region, showed the existence of Si-Al-Ca-Mg inclusion in these samples. The SEM/EDS analysis result of above-mentioned samples showed agreed well with LIBS.

RESUMO

Objective To explore the relationship between plasma homocysteine levels and diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPNP). Methods A crossectional analysis was conducted on 227 patients with type 2 diabetes. Peripheral neuropathy was confirmed using electromyography (EMG). The risk factors possibly associated with diabetic neuropathy or plasma homocysteine levels were analyzed in relation to likelihood of occurrence of DPNP. Results Eighty patients with neuropathy and 147 patients without neuropathy were included. Plasma homocysteine levels were significantly higher in patients with diabetic neuropathy [( 12. 6 ± 3.6 ) μmol/ L] than without diabetic neuropathy [( 8. 2 ± 0. 9 ) μmol/L] ( P <0. 001 ), and the relationship remained significant after adjusting for duration of diabetes, glycosylated hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c), age, renal status, serum folate acid and vitamin B12, and metformin [OR 1.15( 1.02-1.28 ) ,P < 0. 05]. In addition, per increase of 4. 0 μmol/L plasma homocysteine was closely related to the occurrence of neuropathy after controlling for per unit increase of other confounding factors [OR 1.17(0. 94-1.33), P < 0. 05]. Conclusions Hyperhomocysteinemia was an independent risk factor for the occourence of diabetic peripheral neuropathy.
