RESUMO

This paper addresses the problem of multi-robot task scheduling in Antarctic environments. There are various algorithms for multi-robot task scheduling, but there is a risk in robot operation when applied in Antarctic environments. This paper proposes a practical multi-robot scheduling method using ant colony optimization in Antarctic environments. The proposed method was tested in both simulated and real Antarctic environments, and it was analyzed and compared with other existing algorithms. The improved performance of the proposed method was verified by finding more efficiently scheduled multiple paths with lower costs than the other algorithms.

RESUMO

This paper proposes a method for CNN-based fault detection of the scan-matching algorithm for accurate SLAM in dynamic environments. When there are dynamic objects in an environment, the environment that is detected by a LiDAR sensor changes. Thus, the scan matching of laser scans is likely to fail. Therefore, a more robust scan-matching algorithm to overcome the faults of scan matching is needed for 2D SLAM. The proposed method first receives raw scan data in an unknown environment and executes ICP (Iterative Closest Points) scan matching of laser scans from a 2D LiDAR. Then, the matched scans are converted into images, which are fed into a CNN model for its training to detect the faults of scan matching. Finally, the trained model detects the faults when new scan data are provided. The training and evaluation are performed in various dynamic environments, taking real-world scenarios into account. Experimental results showed that the proposed method accurately detects the faults of scan matching in every experimental environment.

RESUMO

This paper addresses the problem of tracking a high-speed ballistic target in real time. Particle swarm optimization (PSO) can be a solution to overcome the motion of the ballistic target and the nonlinearity of the measurement model. However, in general, particle swarm optimization requires a great deal of computation time, so it is difficult to apply to realtime systems. In this paper, we propose a parallelized particle swarm optimization technique using field-programmable gate array (FPGA) to be accelerated for realtime ballistic target tracking. The realtime performance of the proposed method has been tested and analyzed on a well-known heterogeneous processing system with a field-programmable gate array. The proposed parallelized particle swarm optimization was successfully conducted on the heterogeneous processing system and produced similar tracking results. Also, compared to conventional particle swarm optimization, which is based on the only central processing unit, the computation time is significantly reduced by up to 3.89×.

RESUMO

This paper addresses the problem of nonlinear and dotted defect detection for multi-vision-based mask inspection systems in mask manufacturing lines. As the mask production amounts increased due to the spread of COVID-19 around the world, the mask inspection systems require more efficient defect detection algorithms. However, the traditional computer vision detection algorithms suffer from various types and very small sizes of the nonlinear and dotted defects on masks. This paper proposes a deep learning-based mask defect detection method, which includes a convolutional neural network (CNN) and efficient preprocessing. The proposed method was developed to be applied to real manufacturing systems, and thus all the training and inference processes were conducted with real data produced by real mask manufacturing systems. Experimental results show that the nonlinear and dotted defects were successfully detected by the proposed method, and its performance was higher than the previous method.

RESUMO

This study addresses the problem of autonomous rear parking (ARP) for car-like nonholonomic vehicles. ARP includes path planning to generate an efficient collision-free path from the start point to the target parking slot and path following to produce control inputs to stably follow the generated path. This paper proposes an efficient ARP method that consists of the following five components: (1) OpenAI Gym environment for training the reinforcement learning agent, (2) path planning based on rapidly exploring random trees, (3) path following based on model predictive control, (4) reinforcement learning based on the Markov decision process, and (5) travel length estimation between the start and the goal points. The evaluation results in OpenAI Gym show that the proposed ARP method can successfully be used by minimizing the difference between the reference points and trajectories produced by the proposed method.

RESUMO

This paper addresses the problem of real-time model predictive control (MPC) in the integrated guidance and control (IGC) of missile systems. When the primal-dual interior point method (PD-IPM), which is a convex optimization method, is used as an optimization solution for the MPC, the real-time performance of PD-IPM degenerates due to the elevated computation time in checking the Karush-Kuhn-Tucker (KKT) conditions in PD-IPM. This paper proposes a graphics processing unit (GPU)-based method to parallelize and accelerate PD-IPM for real-time MPC. The real-time performance of the proposed method was tested and analyzed on a widely-used embedded system. The comparison results with the conventional PD-IPM and other methods showed that the proposed method improved the real-time performance by reducing the computation time significantly.
