OBJECTIVE: Patients had allergies to both fosaprepitant and docetaxel with similar signs and symptoms. To explore the possible causes of allergy and whether there is cross-allergy between fosaprepitant and docetaxel, we conducted a literature review according to Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses guidelines. METHODS: A systematic search of the following databases was performed: Pubmed, Embase, Cochrane Library, CINAHL, Scopus, Web of Science and Taylor & Francis. The final search was on 12 November 2022. Two investigators independently selected eligible studies and extracted data according to inclusion and exclusion criteria and assessed the methodological quality of included studies. Any disagreement was resolved by a third researcher. RESULTS: The main cause of fosaprepitant and docetaxel allergy is polysorbate 80. Fosaprepitant and docetaxel have similar allergic symptoms, mainly facial flushing (19.0%, 18.5%); erythema/dermatitis (17.2%, 1.9%); fluid retention (17.2%, 22.2%); and dyspnea, bronchospasm, shortness of breath and coughing (15.5%, 16.7%). Hypotension (1.7%, 7.4%) and decreased oxygen saturation (1.7%, 1.9%) are rare. The treatments for both allergies are similar: stop injection, oxygen, glucocorticoid, antihistamines and symptomatic treatments. CONCLUSION: Polysorbate 80 is the same allergenic component of docetaxel and fosaprepitant. The symptoms and treatments caused by the two drugs are similar. Most allergic reactions are not serious. Medications containing the same allergy ingredient need to be used with caution for patients with severe allergies to polysorbate 80.

RESUMO

A ruthenium-catalyzed formal anti-Markovnikov hydroamination of allylic alcohols for the synthesis of chiral γ-amino alcohols is presented. Proceeding via an asymmetric hydrogen-borrowing process, the catalysis allows racemic secondary allylic alcohols to react with various amines, affording enantiomerically enriched chiral γ-amino alcohols with broad substrate scope and excellent enantioselectivities (68 examples, up to >99 % ee).

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c), blood pressure, self-efficacy, and quality of life efficacy of using telecare services for community-dwelling people with diabetes. METHODS: Cochrane Library, Web of Science, PsycINFO, PubMed, EMBASE, CINAHL, and Scopus databases were systematically searched from their inception dates to June 22, 2023. Two evaluators independently selected and evaluated eligible studies. A protocol was registered in PROSPERO. RESULTS: An analysis of 17 studies that included 3586 subjects showed that telecare significantly improved the management of patients with diabetes. Compared to controls, intervention care had significant benefits regarding HbA1c (MD = -0.30, 95 % CI = -0.44 - -0.17, 16 studies), systolic blood pressure (MD = -2.45, 95 % CI = -4.53 - -0.36, P = 0.02), self-efficacy (MD = 0.36, 95 % CI = 0.04 - 0.67, P = 0.03) and quality of life (MD = 0.37, 95 % CI = 0.05 - 0.70, P = 0.02). However, diastolic blood pressure (MD = -1.37, 95 % CI = -3.34 - -0.61, P = 0.17) was not found to be significantly affected. CONCLUSIONS: Telecare is effective in improving self-management among community-dwelling people with diabetes, suggesting an effective means for them to achieve self-management.

The 5-methylcytosines (m5C) play critical roles in epigenetic control, often being recognized by proteins containing an MBD. In this study, we isolated six wheat cDNAs with open reading frame encoding putative methyl-binding domain proteins, which were designated as TaMBD1-TaMBD6, respectively. BLASTX searches and phylogenetic analysis suggested that the six TaMBD genes belonged to four (I, II, III and VIII) of the eight subclasses of MBD family. Genomic analysis showed that a 1386 bp intron was included in TaMBD1 and a 12-bp intron was found in TaMBD4. The expression profiles of the six TaMBDs were studied via Q-RT-PCR and the results indicated that the TaMBDs were differentially expressed in detected wheat tissues. It was interesting to note that 3 TaMBDs were highly expressed in dry seeds and endosperms. Moreover, the differential expression patterns of TaMBDs were observed in leaves and roots under water-stress. We concluded that multiple wheat MBD genes were present and they might play important roles in wheat growth and development, as well as in the water-stress response.

Courtship behaviours, frequent among modern insects, have left extremely rare fossil traces. None are known previously for fossil odonatans. Fossil traces of such behaviours are better known among the vertebrates, e.g. the hypertelic antlers of the Pleistocene giant deer Megaloceros giganteus. Here we describe spectacular extremely expanded, pod-like tibiae in males of a platycnemidid damselfly from mid-Cretaceous Burmese amber. Such structures in modern damselflies, help to fend off other suitors as well as attract mating females, increasing the chances of successful mating. Modern Platycnemidinae and Chlorocyphidae convergently acquired similar but less developed structures. The new findings provide suggestive evidence of damselfly courtship behaviour as far back as the mid-Cretaceous. These data show an unexpected morphological disparity in dancing damselfly leg structure, and shed new light on mechanisms of sexual selection involving intra- and intersex reproductive competition during the Cretaceous.

RESUMO

The escalation of American health care costs compels a new approach to manage chronic diseases. Wireless sensor networks (WSN) have been applied successfully in remote monitoring in military, aerospace, civil structure, and healthcare. However, existing wireless network framework cannot provide required quality of service (QoS) due to communication device failure, message loss caused by link error, collision, and hidden terminal for personalized disease management applications. In this paper, we present scalable network architecture and an operating mechanism that tolerates network structure changes caused by failure, with the application level data aggregation algorithm able to heal from the failure. We provide close form solutions that can achieve optimized network delay. Performance analysis was done to evaluate the significance of different nodes' failure in both homogeneous and heterogeneous sensor network and the effects of sensing and communication speed on failure impact in heterogeneous sensor networks.

Astronaut health monitoring (AHM) during long durations of space missions will play a significant role in mission success. Designing networked healthcare systems for aerospace exploration that will enable continual surveillance and timely notification of astronaut health information to terrestrial healthcare providers at minimal deployment and operation cost is an extremely challenging problem. However, such capabilities will enhance the opportunities for remote medical assistance during space missions. In this paper, we extend our task and data aggregation scheduling from single-hop and multi-hop network to mesh network. The algorithm aims to optimize the network performance with respect to response time and network delay. The upper and lower bounds are derived to provide certain guarantee on data delivery time. The performance of a wireless mesh network with 25 sensor nodes is examined by varying network bandwidth and sensing power of sensor nodes. Basic recursive equations for sensing and data reporting are developed for the case of homogeneous and heterogeneous mesh networks and the performance results of two representative data sensing and reporting strategies are presented.
