[Electroencephalographic indices in concussion of the brain].

In 13 patients (7 men and 6 women) aged 19-44 yrs, 28 yrs at average, suffering symptoms of giddiness, nausea, vomiting, unconsciousness, the functional state of brain, using electroencephalography, was investigated. In 62% patients, according to the background electroencephalography data, the total power of low rhythms (teta + delta) had exceeded the total power of rapid rhythms (alfa + beta) in every 11 (68%) investigated brain dots of total 16. Quantitative diagnostic criterion for the brain commotion diagnosis confirmation was created, basing on the investigation results analysis performed: the total power of a slow rhythms exceeding over total power of rapid rhythms in majority (more than 68%) of the brain investigated region dots.

Structure of the acidic polysaccharide chain of the lipopolysaccharide of Shewanella alga 48055.

A lipopolysaccharide (LPS) with an acidic polysaccharide chain was isolated from the bacterium Shewanella alga strain 48055 and cleaved selectively at the glycosidic linkage of N-acetylneuraminic acid to give a tetrasaccharide. Studies of the tetrasaccharide and the O-deacylated LPS by 1H and 13C NMR spectroscopy, including 2D COSY, TOCSY, NOESY, rotating-frame NOE spectroscopy (ROESY), and H-detected 1H, 13C heteronuclear multiple-quantum coherence (HMQC) experiments, revealed the following structure of the polysaccharide repeating unit: -->3)-beta-D-GalpA6GroN-(1-->3)-beta-D-GlcpNAc-(1-->3)-alpha-D- GalpA6GroN- (1-->4)-alpha-Neup5Ac-(2--> where GroN is an amidically linked residue of 2-amino-1,3-propanediol (2-amino-2-deoxyglycerol). A similar structure, but with 2-acetamido-2,6-dideoxy-D-glucose instead of 2-acetamido-2-deoxy-D-glucose, has been reported previously for the polysaccharide chain of a non-O1 Vibrio cholerae H11 LPS [E. V. Vinogradov, O. Holst, J.E. Thomas-Oates, K.W. Broady, and H. Brade, Eur. J. Biochem., 210 (1992) 491-498].

[Biomechanical and neurophysiological characteristics of voluntary rhythmic movements in humans]. / Biomekhanicheskaia i neirofiziologicheskaia kharakteristika proizvol'nykh ritmicheskikh dvizhenii cheloveka.

Amplitude modulation of electroencephalogram and H-reflex were studied under realization and completion of voluntary rhythmic movements and its modelling by means by electrical stimulation of the triceps sure muscles in humans. The changes of spinal cord alpha-motoneurons excitability was correlated with the cycle duration under rhythmic voluntary movements realization and not depend on cycle duration under its semantic completion. The alpha-motoneurons excitability was stable and did not determine by model movement frequency in condition of rhythmic electrical stimulation and after its stopping. Analysis amplitude modulation of electroencephalogram and H-reflex under voluntary rhythmic movements showed correlation between cortical and spinal processes under its organization.

Circadian dynamics of monocyte phagocytic activity in women during lactation complicated by iron deficiency.

Biorhythms of phagocytic activity of peripheral blood monocytes were studied during lactation in healthy women and in women with iron deficiency. Circadian organization of monocyte function was characteristic of healthy nursing women. Strain in the system was associated with elevation of the mean circadian values for reserve potential of the absorption and digestive capacity of phagocytes. Circadian rhythms of the phagocytic and digestive capacity of peripheral blood monocytes were leveled during lactation complicated by iron deficiency. Decreased coefficient of the parameters activation is an early manifestation of latent iron deficiency. Decrease in the basic function parameters and reserve potential are directly related to the decrease in serum ferritin concentration.

Diurnal variations in qualitative composition of breast milk in women with iron deficiency.

Biorhythms of iron metabolism in healthy women and patients with iron deficiency were studied during lactation. Healthy nursing women were characterized by circadian variations in the concentrations of iron, alpha-tocopherol, and malonic dialdehyde in breast milk. Diurnal variations in iron concentration, antioxidant potential, and lipid peroxidation in breast milk depended on iron metabolism in nursing women. Iron deficiency was accompanied by a decrease in the concentrations of alpha-tocopherol and iron, increase in malonic dialdehyde content, and suppression of circadian variations in these parameters in breast milk.
