RESUMO

AIM: Purpose to analyze the effectiveness of the herbal preparation Canephron N in the relief of nondiabetic glucosuria in patients with recurrent upper urinary tract infection (UTI). MATERIALS AND METHODS: the study included 100 patients, 53 of them were women (median age of all patients 42 (35; 58) years) with recurrent UTI. Patients were referred to the urology department to exclude the obstructive component and concomitant chronic diseases. Upon further examination, all patients were found to have nondiabetic glucosuria. Fifty patients received standard etiotropic treatment, in 25 patients it was simultaneously supplemented with the herbal drug Canephron N, and 25 patients, after standard treatment, continued monotherapy with this phytopreparation. Clinical and laboratory dynamics was assessed in the course of various treatment regimens. RESULTS: The study found that the recurrent course of chronic UTI may be associated with nondiabetic glucosuria. In patients who received standard therapy in combination with the herbal preparation Kanephron N, a decrease in the intensity of nondiabetic glucosuria with more effective eradication of the bacterial pathogen was noted. At the same time, monotherapy of manifestations of IVMP, which are refractory to etiotropic therapy, with Kanefron N also proved to be quite effective. CONCLUSION: the combination of standard therapy for refractory manifestations of UTI with the herbal preparation Kanephron N is accompanied by the leveling of nondiabetic glucosuria (1.3+/-0.4 and 0.6+/-0.4 mmol/L, p<0.05), coinciding with a decrease in leukocyturia (25.5+/-4.5 and 9.5+/-1.5 in field of vision, p<0.05).

RESUMO

The article deals with results of assessing risk of occupationally related hypertension among workers of sylvinitedressing works, with individual sensitivity consideration. Epidemiologic study proved correlation between occupational exposure to noise over 83 dB and hypertension and its predictors - increased activity of serum lipoprotein and homocystein. The studies determined an indicator of the workers' increased sensitivity to arterial hypertension development and to changes in parameters of disordered vascular tone regulation (increased activity of serum lipoprotein and homocystein) under exposure to noise - CT genotype of MTHFR gene. Workers with CT genotype of MTHFR gene, according to epidemiologic analysis, demonstrated increase in relative risk of vascular tone regulation disorders (hypertension predictor). Additional probability ofvascular tone regulation disorders under exposure to noise of 83 dB in sylvinitedressing workers with increased individual sensitivity is estimated at 3%.

RESUMO

Workers of titanium and magnesium production, under occupational exposure to complex of chemical (chlorine, hydrochloride, sulfur dioxide) and physical factors (industrial noise, work hardiness), have arterial hypertension as occupationally related disease, when length of service over 15 years (EF = 71,5%), and nasopharyngitis for length of service over 10 years (EF = 65%). Arterial hypertension risk is mostly associated with increased industrial noise level (F = 1621; R2 0.95; p < 0,001; noise 70,1 dB). Mathematic modelling of nasopharyngitis development probability demonstrated dependence of concentration of chlorine, hydrochloride, sulfur dioxide, chlorine and hydrochloride combination (F = 37-281; R2 = 0,37-0,73; p < 0.001; chlorine 0,63 mg/m3). Complex of parameters (leucocytosis, eosinophilia, increased IgA level), activated cellular immunity (increased CD 16+56+, CD3+CD25+) and absolute phagocytosis characterized nonspecific inflammatory reaction, immunity tension as a response to a complex of chemical factors of titanium and magnesium production. Markers of endoihelial dysfunction and cardiovascular risk (uric acid, VEGF, homocystein, LDLP) and stress marker (cortisol) demonstrate potential effect of occupational factors on vascular wall, metabolic processes and central nervous system, with involvement of

RESUMO

It has been established that the dish shawarma may be a factor for Salmonella transmission, by involving in sporadic and outbreak cases of Salmonella infection. Chicken fillet grilling when cooking the dish shawarma has been found to ensure its guaranteed freedom from Salmonella only in a piece less than 2 cm thick. Deeper layers of chicken and its juice that accumulates in the grill tray may remain be Salmonella-contaminated throughout the heat treatment. Obviously, for the epidemiological safety of the dish shawarma, it is necessary to cut a not more than 2-cm piece of fillet every time the latter is ready-made, i.e. a white color and a clear juice are produced. At the time one should not use the chicken juice as sauce to the ready-made fillet and to gather and crumble the latter in a separate container rather than in the tray.

RESUMO

During two expeditions in the Polar and Northern Urals, performed in the summers of 1986 and 1987, hygienic aspects of consumption of wild edible plants to survive in the taiga were investigated. Rational use of wild green plants led to 2.8-5-fold increase of the daily food mass. Use of the low caloric diet supplemented with wild plants for as long as 6 or 14 days did not cause any pathological changes in the health condition of the test subjects as measured by biochemical and hematological parameters. The wild plants were also a good source of C vitamin. Organoleptic properties of 34 menu items made of wild edible plants were tested and hygienically acceptable procedures for cooking them were developed.
